I love all his classes, very good teacher, he explains the subject very clear and his classes are very interesting and helpful if you plan in majoring in soc, social work or social services...over all great teaching skill, he is the best!

No single person could walk away from a class with Prof. Brinkman without learning. I have never taken a class and learned so much information that I find myself using all the time. I have never taken such a hard class either. I highly recommend this instructor -- his thoroughness in explaining the material makes the classes very enjoyable.

Brinkman is the man. He's animated and funny, but very smart. His classes have made me look at the world in a very different way.

Easily the best professor I've had in all my 3 years at WVC. You cannot look at the world the same way after you're done with his class. Opens your eyes to the more uncomfortable aspects of humanities and helps you understand the people around you better.

Brinkman is famous at WVC. He's well-loved and a good teacher and a nice person. In spite of all that, I did not enjoy this class. He claims to be objective, but you'll notice that by the end of the course, he talks mainly about conflict theory (aka Marxism). We watched far too many movies and he missed class far too many times.

Brinkman is an excellent professor. He has a very clear and organized teaching style, plus he adds lots of humor to keep you interested.

Sociology relationships and family was a great class to take because it helps you look at the bigger picture and think about what you personally want in a significant other and in other relationships.

I actually took this class more than a few years ago, but this is one of the few teachersclasses that stick with you. I still remember some of the things he taught us and the impact it had on the way I view the world. That's a true statement to a job well done.

Super good would take again. All your notes is the test. he shows a lot of film which is great but he talks more and wants you to understand the effects of race. This is a eye opener class! Only 1-2 questions from the book is on the test.

This man is incredible. Ask him about JFK, and you'll learn more in ten minutes about US history and politics than all of your K-12 education.

Professor Brinkman does a fantastic job at what he does. The lectures were interesting, the films were interesting, everything was interesting. He truly wants you to learn, and you most definitely do. The class isn't very difficult, just show up and take notes. Your notes are basically the test. Truly a great class, I will take more from him.

Richard is a great professor! He truly cares about the student and family! He is very understanding and will work with you if a problem or family emergency arises. He is a very good teacher who keeps class fun and keeps you interested. His tests aren't hard if you show up, pay attention, and take good notes.

Lectures are very informative, and give a better explanation to the textbook. Very good lectures from this professor and hardly boring. I learned so much more than just what I needed to pass. I would definitely recommend taking a class with Brinkman at least once at the college.

Brinkman is awesome! His classes are easy but you learn so much. His style of teaching is cool because he often lets the class go early if even cancels class, but you don't need to worry because he is able to teach you everything for the test in spite of that! Also, no midterms or finals, only 3 simple exams! I love Me. Brinkman, the best teacher!

Everyday lectures! Lots of movies. Tests are heavy points. Some "side" essays, they do effect grade somewhat. He is boring but can be interesting to listen to. Heavily opinionated. Talks about a lot of heavy topics going on in the world. Appreciates sincerity.

He always has a reasonable explanation to everything he teaches and he's also very good on tests and what you need to know and study for. I took the class just for the credit but he made me genuinely enjoy this class. Highly recommend him to any peer.

I was not a fan about having to take a soc class but this professor is the best prof I have ever had. Not only that, I believe that he would beat every professor in Washington state. Brinkman is SO passionate about what he teaches, and it completely rubs off on you; its contagious! He makes us so engaged that the work come easy. little homework.

I have literally never wanted to do anything sociology or politics but as soon as i took this class with Brinkman, i was HOOKED. his lectures are fun and full of explanations, he talks about the problems of today and makes us all want to do something about it. i now want to be a politician or sociologist to make a change

He's a great professor. There's not much reading and the tests are about 90 percent things that are covered in class and 10 percent readings. Overall, he's an amazing teacher.

Brinkman is a great professor! He has a goal for everyone to finish with an A. I have some trouble with tests, but besides that he is a prof that everyone should experience. Funny, honest and cancels class the Monday after the Super Bowl.

Brinkman, is a gem! He is passionate about what he teaches. Everything you need to know he goes over in the lecture, but you should read your book. Stay on top of the material. Takes notes. Movies are a frequent occurrence and he does not allow food in the classroom. Tests are multiple choice with small written essay sections. Very fair grading.

Brinkman is arguably one of the smartest profs on campus. He gives you everything you need to know for the tests on the review days. Take really good notes or you will fail. You have to be engaged in class or you risk him canceling. The book is a major plus, but not needed to get an A. It was nice but again, he gives you what you need on reviews.

He gives great lectures with lots of research and films to back up his teaching. He is kind and does his best to make the classroom environment fun and engaging. There are only a few assignments with a few exams but he offers extra credit. I would definitely recommend taking a class with him; the course material is interesting and he is very smart.

As long as you participated in the class discussions you would get a good grade, the tests matter but he puts easy answers in them so you relax and feel more confident. He's funny, passionate and caring.

Sociology 101 is a course you will never forget. Mr. Brinkman has been one of my most favorite college professors ever and is really easy on grading and testing. That is one of the reasons the class is so much more enjoyable. Attendance isnt mandatory and everything he teaches is in the book. I will probably take another one of his courses again!

My favorite class and professor thus far. He cares about what he's teaching. You can tell he does it for the greater good of those he's teachings life's. Heavy content, meaning you'll probably cry, but this is good! Awesome class, awesome professor.

Professor Brinkman helped me learn a lot about Sociology and is very invested in the subject. SOC101 was one of the easiest classes I have taken with how nice he is about tests as well as understanding your circumstances. There are primarily tests but you can justify your answer to receive credit for wrong answers. overall would recommend.

Rich is by far my favorite professor I have ever taken at the college level. He is incredibly charismatic and kind, yet portrays a very strong and clear point in his lecture. His class was easily about much more than a grade, and I would recommend this class to every single student who has the opportunity to take it.

took soc 101 online and it was an easy class. Majority of grade is based of 3 exams that are straight from the notes with an essay question at the end. easy notes to take each day and they are actually interesting so you won't get bored and its easy to take notes as he bolds the really important stuff.

Brinkman is a great professor! His written lectures are well-thought-out, and he cares a lot about his student's success. Attend the zoom meetings he has for classes; they help a ton for exam reviews and answer any questions about lectures, and he makes the classes entertaining.

He was an amazing professor! There was no textbook which I loved. He writes all of his own lectures, so you just read a lecture that he writes every day. The class was SO organized, you can never miss an assignment and the assignments are super interesting. There are tests, but if you know the material it will be easy.

Dude is straight up a beast. Easy exams and tests, go to lectures=good grade. Simple as that. He tries his best to ensure that students pass. 10/10 would go again.

He's actually a very clear professor with few tests and had us watch a few movies attached with discussion questions. Although he tries to bring humor into the class-- its obvious that he tries to make it enjoyable as possible. I do highly recommend his other classes including this one.

Amazing class. He spends 20 minutes of each day performing a completely original comedy routine. He teaches Marxism as objective truth and will only give you a bad grade if you question him. Just roleplay as a fanatical Marxist for an easy A. Take his class simply to bear witness to his magnificence and insanity. You won't learn anything of value.

I thought he was a great instructor. For my first year of college ever, he kind of set the bar high. Easy assignments (like 6 in total) and the exams were fine, just read the written lectures and you should be good. Easy A, would take it again for sure.

I absolutely love this class. Lots of new ideas to make you question our society as a whole. Some older movies, but worth the watch. Watch for his humor on exams. It takes away the test anxiety, which I felt makes him a stellar professor. He knows his stuff and makes learning fun. I would recommend him and his class content to anyone.

I found this course very interesting. He had written lectures (that weren't very long) only a few days a week. He had us watch a few movies (boring and long) and then discuss them. There weren't very many assignments so test grades really mattered. They were all multiple choice and mostly material we had been taught.

Professor Brinkman is a great prof and I would recommend him to anybody looking to take his classes. He is gracious, understanding, and is very clear.

Hands down one of my favorite professors i've ever had! I took his online course, his lectures weren't boring or heavy. His discussion board assignments were easy. Everything is fair game to him so just put in the effort. He was very caring, funny, and easy to get a hold of. The only thing I could say I disliked about his class was watching films.

Professor Brinkman was very nice, he has open online lectures on canvas, if you read them and take notes, the classes are super easy and you'll do great on tests. Topics are interesting and participation and assistance are not required but you will definitely learn more if you do these. And it's also good to respect the professor's time.

Great professor! But he doesn't like it when the class doesn't participate. If you're the first to participate on the first day of class, he will like you, so make sure to make a good first impression with him.

Mr. Brinkman is a very laid-back professor; he cares about his students not just leaving with some credits and a grade.

This was probably the easiest class I've ever taken in my life. Brinkman can be really funny in my opinion, even though the majority of our lectures were online due to some of his health issues. Pay attention, take notes, and you'll do fine.
