He is a very easy prof. you hand in 2 drafts of your papers he gives them back corrected ungraded so you turn in the final copy with virtually no mistakes, this is the process throughout the course! Tests were open book, open notes.

He's the best teacher. I am a journalism major and he really helped me perfect my writing! He's also very helpful when you turn in papers. I definetly recommend him

for some reason i placed into comp 0800. so far i've been getting A's here and there, and we had individual conferences and he offered i RETAKE the placement exam to place into freshmen comp. i was planning on doing it, but hearing it from him helped. he's a GREAT TEACHER, GET HIM!!!

Everyone is important to him; he is possibly the most un-ill-at-ease-putting teach I know. I think he was a social worker or something for some years. He picks smart and diverse reads. I absolutely loved this class. Mr Brown is very patient and helpful and really loves seeing his class succeed. He is interesting to listen to and always gives you time in the computer lab. I learned a lot from him.

Mr. Brown is awesome! He is so nice and so laid back. He will call on you randomly if no one volunteers and you can't just say "I don't know" because he will tell you to take a guess. He took attendance sometimes but didn't grade on it. The class was so easy and so were his tests because he grades super easy. He's awesome!

Trust me. If you need to take this class, and you probably do. Do yourself a favor and take it with Richard Brown. The class does require a substantial amount of reading and writing but he rewards you for your efforts. Make yourself known in class because he is not only a very good teacher, he is also a very interesting person to talk to.

Mr. Brown is one of the best English teachers at Normandale College. Yet, he encourages students to become effective writers. His lectures, tests, and papers are understandable and clear. Register this class, and you'll walk with an A. All you need to do is spend sometime the material hi assigns you. Attendance is also required, not part of grade.

Brown is awesome. Probably the easiest English class I have ever taken. He knows how to teach, very understanding and he will do whatever he can to help you out. This is the nicest man in the whole world. I went into his class very unenthusiastic about English and very quickly i got excited about going to his class. He makes me interested and like English, and he makes me want to work hard. He is amazing, and is very approachable and easy to talk to.

I don't know if there are better teachers than Brown. Honestly, Brown is the best. He teaches well, and make you understand the material, but keep in mind that you will have to write long papers. I highly recommend this teacher. At the end of the semester, you'll know that you learned and became an expert in English. Take his class.

I took his freshman comp. class last semester. It was super easy. I barely attended and recieved 97%. He's really helpful and teaches you alot. If you want to do well in english....with someone who's down to earth and has a sunny disposition, he's your guy!

Absolutely wonderful teacher. He's very clear, easy to approach outside class, and flexible with regard to due dates for papers, etc. He assigns a lot of reading, but it's definitely worth it. If you don't mind reading and writing, take this professor.

He's a pretty nice guy, just wants you to give your opinion about the work. VERY easy class, fairly enjoyable too. Will accept almost anything as an opinion, too. Just wants input and a discussion. Papers, all pretty easy. Same as participation, just rant about the literary work & you're good.

If you want an easy "A" in freshman comp take him! Great guy.

This teacher is one of the nicest that I have had in my life, and he is very willing to help you so you can learn, instead of just focusing on grades and deadlines. The class discussions were very informative, but somewhat boring at times. I recommend him, and I will take more classes with him in the future.

Professor Brown really tries to teach and strives to make things understandable. He has a good knack for grading you on the quality of your writing and not what he thinks your point of view should be.

I took him over the summer in a pre-college course and he had an impact on me. I let me turn in late work. He doesn't believe in punishing students for wrong answers by lowering their grade. He remembers names and faces. He is very inspiring, personable and compassionate. Looks like clint eastwood.

Professor Brown is an excellent teacher. He's full of knowledge and has so much passion in his teaching. If he taught every subject at Normandale, I would take it with him. I found his class very easy and he is very lenient on pushing back assignments at times. He does have an attendance policy which does affect your grade.

I took Brown's Modern World Literature class. It is very writing and reading intensive, but not hard, and Brown is a very easy grader. The journals do get tedious after awhile though (18 total) plus a midterm and term paper. Attendance is mandatory, but it helps when writing journals. Expect to participate in classroom discussion in this class.

Mr Brown is one of the best teachers I have had yet!!!! He expect 4 essays throughout the semester and 2 midterm/final and gave you plenty of feedback and time to work on them! The discussions board was weekely but it helped me understand the readings more. I would MOST DEFINETLY take him again!If your looking for a great writing teacher take him

He is an easy grader, but he doesn't provide much feedback. He only provides feedback when your essay is short and not good enough. Also, he is really enthusiastic with what he's teaching, which is literature. Sometimes he makes me feel sleepy though. Overall he's a good professor. Take him if you want an easy A.

He is excellent teacher! He knows what he does for 100 %. Even though it was a composition class, we read a lot of novels and I loved the way how he analyzed them. He makes class really interesting. We had 4 papers and 2 exams. Basically you have about a month to write your paper. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I would definitely take another class with him.

I took Mod World Lit with Richard Brown. He has been my favorite and one of the best professors at Normandale ever since. He encourages students to participate, but if you don't he will pick on you - but this only adds to your growth. He provides amazing, thoughtful feedback to your papers and validfies your thoughts.

He's great, you actually have to try to get a bad great. Do the work and you'll get a good grade!!

I found this to be a great class with lots of help from the instructor. As long as you attend class, read the suggested material and pay attention you will pass the class with ease!

Aside from the papers, which are longer but it is a composition class, there are only two test. He gives plenty of time to finish the papers well. He gives good feedback and is available for extra help. He also helps with learning APA if you are going into the health field. Overall he is a good teacher to take composition with.

Mr. Brown is unlike other teachers that I've had for literature in the past. He is extremely open-minded towards people's writing, and just because you wrote something different than him, he won't berate you for it. In fact he'll praise you for it. Very fun lectures, and easy grader.

Honestly what a wonderful teacher. He grades fairly also explains why you got the grade. In class disscusion are engaging. Take his class in a school where good teachers are hard to find he's a gem.

This is an entry level course but will be a lot for a new student. If you're willing to put the time in and read the stories (one to two a week) and participate in class discussion you will really enjoy this class. Professor Brown reads everything and remembers students by their feedback. You can tell this is a passion and that he loves his job.

Brown does a very good job of wrapping concepts together. If you can read the stories and write decent essays, you will do well in this course.

Lots of reading and you go rather fast. Class is just about discussing what you read. I'm a shy person, so it was a bit harder for me to participate. Attendance is mandatory and takes points away for not going. Offers extra credit opportunities. Midterm paper and Final paper. Everything else is just about reading and doing reading responses.

This was the first time in my school career where I actually enjoyed an English course. Each class period we discussed the stories we read, Mr Brown is really good at helping students move the discussions along without taking them over with his own ideas. Really good stories you will read and great teacher. Really easy grader as well.

Richard Brown is very good teacher and more than fair. You'll pass the the class with a High B with decent work. He also helps you see you things that wouldn't notice in the literature you choose to write about.

He's a super easy grader!!! I got 100% on every essay. He is consistently late on providing feedback, but he's fair and pushes back the due date each time that happens. Super easy A. I took his Freshman Comp class online, and he requires that you "participate" 3 times a week, which can be annoying but isn't difficult to do. Fine overall, not great.

Out of my two years going to Normandale, Richard was the best instructor I had. His lectures were very engaging, and there's absolutely no instructor who's a better lecturer than him at all. Sad to say that this semester (fall 2018) will be the last semester.
