He wants to teach you about what really happens in state and local government by telling stories from his past experiences. However in the mean time he expects you to literally memorize the textbook. He doesn't teach the material at all in class!

Buckner talks about real situations from his experience, and gets your mind working...BUT never lectures on the book. His tests are confusingly worded, and the questions are very difficult. I spend hours studying and never do good on the tests.

I agree with the other comments, he doesn't cover any material from the book, and in the end request you to know every little detail from the book... He's awful!!!.. avoid him if you can

This class was incredibly hard. I am a political science major so I figured it would be a breeze, but it ended up being the toughest class I had this semester. He is very unclear on assignments, and tests are nearly impossible.

He pops quizzes out of no where! It's typical to be on 1 Ch. & have a quiz that day on the next Ch. then go back into the books & pick up on the previous Ch. This class will take up all of your time! Only grades U have R tests, quzzes, & 2 book reports!

Hard as a rock class. Pleasure to listen to in class....at first i thought i was gonna love him. Tests-very hard. this buckner will mess up your grades worse than the other buckner messed up the world series. mets fans know what im talkin about.

Dr. Buckner is a very smart man; however, he goes off on tangents and then has to rush through his lesson plan. It's very hard to study and absorb the material because quizzes are given sporadically. It's pretty much up to the student to teach him or herself the material in the book.

HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! Many questions that were on the exam were NEVER discussed in class or in the book! He goes on talking about nothing..Take his class if you like to teach yourself. Don't challenge him in class because he believes he is always right regardless of the facts... HORRIBLE save your $!

This guy is bad. He is conservative, which is good, but he is too insane to be a good teacher. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a good grade on the papers. He gives quizzes the day before spring break to make sure people come to class. I do not recommend.

STAY AWAY..DON"T TAKE Buckner.. he is a horrible teacher. his tests do not come from the book material, rather his opinion, istead of whats in the book. he's very pompous will not give help. not an easy class never lectures on the material rather he goes off of on tandums about irrelavent garbage...

Turn on Rush Limbaugh and you won't have to go to class.

Dr.Bucker was INDISTINCT on his teaching objectives. He talked more about HIMSELF and would not listen to student's concepts then he would CUT students off by verbalizing his own bias. I drop his class within two weeks because he did not talk about the CONSTITUTION and was LATE to class. RETIRE!!!

he is horrible. BEWARE, do not take this class even if he is the only teacher left. Mr buckner likes to hear himself talk and he doesnt want to hear or respect your opinions, he actually will attack your point of view if it doesnt match his. HORRIBLE TEACHER

Extraordinarily biased, if you say to the contrary you just agree with him. He is **** - the reason Miami has its problems is because it has so many uneducated hispanics. **** - minors are having problems because more women are working. He doesnt attack your view he attacks you. His final is cumulative but includes chapters not covered in class

This was the hardest class, I took and he is the hardest teacher I have came into contact with. I suggest you stay far away from him.

Stay away from this teacher if you want to do well in this class. He thinks he knows everything in the world. He believes in his own bullsh*t. The class is not hard but it becomes hard when he tells you that everything is fair game on his tests. There are no reviews or studyguides provided so you will have to read the chapters word for word.

i took this class online thinking it wouldn't be that bad. government isn't a hard subject, but this class is absolutely HORRIBLE. Buck man was a cool guy i liked sitting in class, but his quizzes and tests had nothing to do with his lectures, didn't offer help if you visit his office seemed to brush me off

Buck is an interesting person. But his teaching style is not very helpful. Tests and Quizzes are straight from the book, paying close attention to details.

Local and State Governent- He is very funny, but I don't think he is very fair, and The class is alot more difficult than it should be. I think he enjoys it when people do bad in his class.

Interesting class but horrible professor. CUT AND RUN if you can!! He is a republican and will make you read conservative books. Test are really hard and long. First test had 100 questions and only 75 minutes to complete it. If you really want to learn bunch of useless details take this class!

Makes you read books like "In Defense of Interment." Openly ****, ****, and unabashedly conservative. On top of all of this he's a horrible teacher. Everything is taught around his worldview. Please for your sake avoid him at all costs. Unless of course you want to be indoctrinated on a daily basis. If thats your bag, go right ahead.

Decent person, not so great professor. Although I agreed with many of his views I felt his teaching was not efficient. I felt he expected you to learn the material on you own by reading the text book. He has quizes on chapters before he goes over them. I admire him as a person but if you take him be prepared to do a lot of learning on your own.

I'm a politics nerd and found this class rediculously hard. He makes you promise not to use the book and notes on the tests. Yes this was an online class. He makes you do website reviews weekly which have nothing to do with anything. You also have to do a book review but you have to choose from a list of republican authors. Take someone else

you are basically teaching yourself this course. Listening to him during lectures has nothing to do with what is on the test. He apparently can not see that over half of his students fail and he thinks that they are the problem. It should tell him something when A,B students are failing and dropping his class.

To be perfectly frank, sitting in class was like watching a perpetual negative campaign ad. Forty-five minutes of the course was devoted to ranting against minorities, the poor, etc. (gee, brilliant example of compassionate Conservatism) and the last five minutes were used going over a few book terms. Please avoid this manipulative bull.

I hate this guy! I took it online. Quizzes and tests are 100 in less than 75 minutes! You have to read a book and other bs! You know..I never in my life have gotten a grade under a C in my educational career. I recieved an from Buckner after spending countless hours studying for the tests and do more than the required work on his essay. I turned in everything and he sent me e-mails stating how good my assignments were..I may lose my scholarship b/c of him..he is awful!

I went into this class with a genuine interest in the subject and a determination to do well.I learned close to nothing.I was and belittled.He claims to give you more than what the book offers on political theory and first hand experience.Lies.He pushed his agenda and nothing else.Like I said, I wanted to learn something but was robbed.Awful!!!!

There is no reasoning with this guy. And he humiliated me numerous times on the discussion board and now I probably won't get my Stafford Loan for Fall. RUN FAR AWAY!

It is absolutely amazing that after 5 years over overwhelmingly negative reviews of this teach he still employed by SFCC. His contiuned presence, at a pretty decent school, is an insult to his peers and students alike. Do not take Dr. Buckner if your life depended on it.

Mr Buckner is a terrible teacher. Not only is her rude and unhelpful, he obviously knows nothing about the subject he teaches and doesn't care about his teaching or students. I would never take another class with him and I will do all in my power ensure that he doesn't continue to teach at SFC.

This teacher is everything a teacher should NOT BE. From assignments to work feedback he is hard to understand. SFC is a good school but I do not understand why they keep teachers like him. YOU WILL regret taking a class with him

A failure of a lobbyist turned a failure of a teacher. It's reasonable to assume that continues to teach only as an attempt to justify his putrid existence (Does it sounds like I really don't like this guy?) AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS.

This was the worst class ever. I am an a to b+ student,but he'll make you receive an f. He gives 100 question test from 3 to 4 chapters for you to take in 75 min with no prior study guide which was impossible for me. A waste of time & money. I hate that class.
