The type of professor that college is stereotyped as being, strict, formal and right down to business. Everyone should be an english major and right essay upon essay. Ok professor makes it difficult to get an A but it is passable.
You are expected to know how to write essays well when you take his class. Hard to pass cuz by the end you're expected to turn in a portfolio of 20+ essays. Lectures off topic too much. Subtly preaches about religion all the time. Very hard to get an A if you're not an english major. Not recommended

i loved this teacher most people say he is a bad teacher but i dont think so. when you get to this class you should know how to write a paper if not you should not be in this class. i passed with "A". and im not the best in english. i just payed attention and did what he asked.
Many people say this teacher is bad, I disagree, he does expect a lot from you, but thats what were in college for people, to better ourselves, you must think analytically to pass.
he was a good teacher although he went off subject many time... When you write papers in his class, the secret is to write as though you cherish w.e. ur writng about. make it seem like its very important to you...i got an A in the class....it wasnt hard at all

I don't know how this man has stayed at Miami Dade for so long. To be concise, he does not know how to teach and is more interested about informing us about divorce (his problems) than english. Try to avoid tis professor.
This teacher is very unclear, you MUST ask questions as soon as your lost- which will happen quite often. OK yes he goes off topic and really doesn't explain too much but the assignments are not that hard to begin with- 3 in class essays, an MLA research paper and at the end you turn in a portfolio w/ notes and all work. Just go to class (strict about attendence), volunteer to make copies, do your stuff. Not an easy A but not impossible either.

This professor has ADD. He spends most of the class time telling stories about his family and his past. Jumps off topic constantly. He is, however, very interested in teaching. I suggest you get there on time and do what he asks of you. If you like heartfelt and boring lectures, this is the class for you.
super cool guy! if your a freshman take him! you only write 4 essays! the only somewhat difficult part is putting together the portfolio, but he helps you and tells you exactly what he wants. hes funny, and gets off track alot, but hes super cool. i got an A and didnt have to take the final.
Not an easy A but totally possible if you're organized and have good attendance. He doesn't spend a whole lot of time teaching how to write so if you aren't a strong writer you need to be willing to go for help. He does tend to go off on tangents but if you participate in the discussions the class is totally interesting and engaging.

He doesn't teach anything. You are responsible for making copies of hand-outs. He tosses up a sheet on the board to copy and then goes on for the next hour about his dysfunctional life and dysfunctional family. Its easy if you are a strong writer, otherwise....

The only time I enjoyed his class was when he asked us to write an essay and I wrote an essay saying why religion is pointless. Needless to say, I failed, but the discussion after that paper made him look quite foolish. The look on his face was more than worth the tuition. =)
Well, I dont't think he's a mean teacher. I do think he grades unfairly and without valid reason. Attendance IS mandatory.Trust me, you can be Edgar Allen Poe ressurected and he will still consider your writing not worthy. He does drift off an obscene amount but i liked that about him. Good luck...

Carrington is an absoulute moron. He doesn't teach, all he does is blab on about random stuff and his stupid wife and kids. He is a pain and even if you need help with somthing, he doesn't fully explain the subject matter. All he does is give out dumbass copies of other people's work and it is up to you to figure out how to format your paper.
Everyone should run away from this teacher. He may seem nice at first, but he is horrible. The guy is a passive-aggresive jerk who doesnt teach ANYTHING! I learned more from reading the class book. For someone who has a master's in english, he should get another one in education. This is the only class I ever had difficulty with. He is incompetent.
I learned a lot, he is a high level thinker, very desorganized but very helpful at the same time. I think he cares about his students. His classes sometimes goes off on tangents but it is interesting to hear about his experiences. He showed us a poem he wrote and I think the poem was very deep and with a lot of meaning behind. Overall I enjoyed it.

He is completely ridiculous. He drones off about his life story and his wife and his child. Be prepared to suck up, because if not, you'll "get a C by miracle". He heavily weighs grades on the portfolio and grades harshly on things he doesn't even cover.

This man is just the epitome of TERRIBLE TEACHER. I tried to like him-so much, but it became impossible when he made it clear to me that he was going to judge all my work on the fact that i had 1 zero and after that all A's. He literally just chooses who he's going to pass by the first paper they turn in. He is inconsistent and incompetant

WOW. I'll just go over some reasons to NOT take his class. This man answers the phone during class, forgets what he is talking about, spends about 45 minutes of the class talking about his broken home and his family, he pops his high blood pressure pills during class, and he doesn't know how to use a COMPUTER. Bottom line, HE'S HORRIBLE!!!!!!
This "professor" is horrible. I have not learned anything in this class. All he talks about is his life stories and puts works on the overhead to copy. You can't email him if you have a question because he doesn't even have an email. He is unclear with every assignment and decides if you're an "A" student from your first paper. He grades unfairly.
Professor Carrington is a great teacher. Sometimes he may go off topic, but is very sincere and truely believes there is a parable in every story. He believes every single one of his students are an A student you just need to proove it. You will get an A+ in this class if you follow the models he prepares
He does NOT teach. He just rambles on about his personal life, and his prior drug addiction. He also talks a lot about his "faith" which I don't mind, but it should really be kept out of the class room. He doesn't grade work, and tends to lose it. You'd learn more sitting at home.
Very nice and full of fun and interesting stories. But he is a waste of time, he repeats the same thing over and over. "all of life is a parable" "chances, changes, choices". READ THE BOTTOM ONE FIRST.... He is very unorganized loses all the papers you turn in. Lots of time you don't get your paper back until the end. Tells you all about his life story and stuff which is nice but not important for 1102. Makes a lot of improper drug reference. Honestly, If you would like to pass ENC1102, which is an extremly easy class DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT take his class.. Our entire clas is failing..go figure. He will fail your class too. There is nothing you can do about it because he's been teaching for "18 years." He rambles about useless information and does not even know how to grade his own

HE cares about his students man. He's somewhat disorganized and took him a while to learn how students want their work graded but he got it. He told us plenty of times he is available at other times for help aside from class so that was good.

Professor Carrington is special. Pretty much have to teach yourself, don't even have to go to class. Just do the assignments. He wants everything perfect but will give you multiple chances to re-do it. His lessons make no sense at all. If you are a strong writer you will be fine.

Professor Carrington was absolutely TERRIBLE. I had to drop his class for fear of failing. He became butthurt over a comment I made in not needing his help and he went on a rampage in class about me, badmouthing me and calling me out. He also graded me completely unfairly only giving me C's on any assignment I turned in. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!

Very HARD to deal with!! I passed with a B due to critical last minuete working. He has walked out plenty of times while writting essays, saying he needs walking time to get to his next class. He's a rare gem: He teaches via synthesis and portfolio creation. If you have trouble with English, I recommend this Professor. Here's a few tips: Start the big projects around the first two, to three weeks, bit by bit, or else; and go for the extra credits: they WILL help you. And try not to miss a class.
5 in class essay and a portfolio. Gives easy extra credits so do them they will help. Has an accent and really kinda unorganized so make sure you save an extra copy of your work. Talks a lot about his personal life sometimes, if you like to write take this class. If you don't like writing look for another professor. Passed with a B.
He is not organized, talks too much about personal crap, gets really annoying because he talks so much, and I really haven't learned anything. I've only learned from his siblings that have come to class to teach as guests.
Prof. Carrington is a good professor. He is interested in his students getting A's. He will make time for you to see him before his class. He is very helpful. He demand respect form his students. If you do your assignment the way he wants it,then you will get an A. He is not a perfect professor and none is. I enjoyed his class
At first, I thought Professor Carrington, was a nice, cool guy. But this guy is a hypocrite, every in-class essay assigned to us, I wrote them, in-class, and he didn't accept it due to the fact he couldn't read them. So I get everything together for his portfolio, only missing 1 assignment, and he says I can't get a very good grade, but I get an F.

A complete shame: disorganized, unfocused, spends too much talking about his life and praising god. He does not do office hours and haven't got an email. Worst of all, he does not know how to write at an academic level... His "model" essays were embarrassing (full of mistakes, poor flow, etc). Keep track of your grades and follow his instructions.
Amazing professor! Loves to teach and is always sharing personal experiences to help up not go through the same mistakes. Really cares about his students and their well being. I give him an A! Recommend him.
Extremely disorganized teacher and rambles on about his life stories. He has a different but cool way of teaching and his Final Portfolio Project was a blast compiling. Be sure to always keep copies of your stuff and he is leant on his "due dates".
WORST TEACHER EVER. Do not take his class, your work will never be read and he doesn't even properly grade your papers. He always remembers the first impression you give him and sticks with it. I quite enjoy writing and I truly disliked his readings as well as his stories he would ramble about for the entire class. Stay away.
This guy is one of the worst teachers i have ever seen. You absoloutely will not learn a thing at the end of this class, except for maybe his whole life story. I do not recommend that you take this mans class. Hopefully he will retire soon, and a better professor will take his place. until then STAY AWAY.
My first assignment changed my whole college experience. When he was ready to hand them back, he wanted to read the best story. He read a few words and I sank into my seat. He was reading my story and I was completely dumbfounded. He encouraged me to write, more than any teacher. I am so grateful for having met him.
