One of the best teachers at RIT. He relates well with the students. His classes are well understandable due to his ease of teaching skills and he is always helpfull after hours. Also his wife bakes, so stop in his office and get a snack!

Cliver's tha best teacher in the Engineering Dept., and at all of RIT as far as I'm concerned.
I HIGHLY recommend Cliver! One of the best professors I've had. He gets to know all his students by name, always wants students to ask questions, will keep you involved in the class and ask questions to make sure you know the material, sometimes a hard grader but keeps you interested in the material
One of the best Professors at RIT. Explains very nicely. Good teaching methods. Labs are fun. Encourages lots and lotssss of questions.
Awesome professor. Takes time out to know the students, encourages questions, clarifies doubts very well and is available and helpful during ofice hours. Free Cookies too. He may not be the easiest, but if you want to learn, take his class!
He is ok, not as great as everyone makes him out to be. The class is extremely easy, if not TOO easy to learn anything. Quiz questions come straight from HW, which is not collected. Test questions come straight from quizes, so just do the hw. The only thing that helps is the hw, not his lectures, which are pointless, only examples, no explanations.
Definitely the best teacher i ever had while at RIT. Ive since left Army and then to another college and his teaching abilities still stand out in my mind. He cares about learning the material and it shows
Professor Cliver was one of my best teachers I had at RIT. He made the material easy to understand, and made sure every student understood the material before advancing to other topics.
lots of fun. Had him for circuits 2. He knows his stuff and makes the material very easy to understand. Maybe oversimplifies material sometimes. Optional homeworks kept me from retaining material very well because I didnt do them.
You will not find a better professor at RIT. He is the BEST. Very clear, he makes sure you know the material. Nicest guy you will ever meet.
Loves to teach. Encourages questions all the time and tells people to shut up if they ask someone to stop asking questions. Very approachable. Can talk to him about anything. Learn how to use the $15 calculator from the bookstore, pay attention, and ask questions when you don't understand and it would be easy to ACE the class. Tests can be hard.
Very nice guy, great teacher. Loves questions, ask away! Goes over things you need for lab which is great! i hear other professors dont, and it makes lab a LOT harder for their students. Weekly quizzes are usually only one question taken directly from the (weekly) homework. Easy stuff, just pay attention and attend class. he's awesome!
My favorite teacher so far! He loves what he teaches and loves teaching it. He begs for students to ask questions because he knows he's not perfect, which is great because it makes you pay attention more. He uses the text only for hw but always for hw. I highly recommend him!
One of the best teachers I have ever had! He works at Kodak doing the same thing that he teaches, so he truly understands it. HIGHLY encourages questions and is very good at responding to them. If you do your work, his class should be easy. If you do not understand what you are doing, ask and he will help you until you do understand.
Great professor! Knows what he's teaching and knows how to teach. Keeps students awake. Loves questions and makes you love to ask questions! Quizes go straight from hw, Tests are not easy, but not too bad. Do your hw, ask questions in class and you will succeed!
The best professor I had in RIT! Explanations are clear, but u have to do HW and attend classes.
Go to class, do you homework, and do your part. And you will be more then fine. Best Professor at RIT. He cares for his students, and wants to answer any questions you have.
Cliver was my favorite freshman professor. His quizzes were the only very hard part (but if you do your homework you've seen it all before). Tests were very fair. Homework was as long as you wanted. He however was very fun and loved questions. He had friday night parties at his house as tutoring sessions for students!
Top-of-the-line, incredible professor. His lectures consist of explaining everything in beautifully perfected detail and clarity. Practically squeezes questions out of students, and encourages students to ask questions about virtually everything he says. Attend his Friday night parties. The food is INCREDIBLE. Exams are easy if you do the homework.
Very animated instructor. Asks for questions like crazy. However, you must ask questions to understand everything. That's how he designs his lectures. The book is extremely hard to understand but his lectures clearly lay out the content. He is very funny and excited about the material. One of the best instructors that I have had at RIT.
A very excellent professor. Always encourages questions that are answered clearly, has a great sense of humor, and above all, COOKIES!!!
Great professor. Knows everyone's names on the first day and LOVES questions. Very helpful professor. Quizzes tend to be a little tougher than the weekly homework assignments but not too bad depending on your grader. Hosts Cliver house nights every Friday night. Never got the chance to go but heard they're pretty fun.
Great teacher, really makes sure everyone understands what he is teaching. He even does this thing every Friday where you can go to his house for tutoring and free food.
A phenomenal teacher. Every lecture sort of revolves around questions as they are the best way to learn. Knows exactly what he's talking about and can explain everything in numerous ways to accommodate different mind sets. Very little homework with one quiz every week. Should be an easy A with average effort.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Despite having class fairly early in the morning, I enjoyed this class a lot. Cliver encourages questions if you don't understand things and has a very clear teaching style. You will learn a lot.
Makes the material enjoyable and makes sure everyone understands it in the classroom. However, in the lab, you're pretty much on your own. If you take good notes and pay attention in class, along with keeping up with the homework assigned, you should fare decently enough in his class.
My favorite teacher at RIT. Hands down. I'm not a nerd by any means and this guy made me smile every class, a great teacher to get to know out of class as well. A great teacher, a better man.
Great professor who really cares about the students both in and out of class.
Professor Cliver is the best professor in the world. He knows what he is doing. I guarantee that you will smile and enjoy each class with him. Also you will finish the class with the best knowledge you can get in the class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking his classes.
Extremely good professor, funny and always enthusiastic about class.
Professor Cliver is a good professor and is great at relating to the students but sometimes tends to get off track. It's sometimes frustrating to sit there when you don't fully understand a concept and he's making jokes at the front of the classroom; still, a stellar teacher and if you pay attention it can be an entertaining, moderately easy class.
Cliver is an amazing teacher with a great attitude toward teaching. He loves to teach, and he makes students want to learn. He is very helpful and makes it very clear on day one that if you do not ask questions you are wasting your OWN money. My only criticism would be that often the homework assignments were not on material covered in class.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. He's a great teacher and has a great personality. He makes students feel totally comfortable asking questions. He moves fast in lecture, but stops often to answer questions. The lab section of this class can be difficult, but the lecture is easy.
Great teacher. Really invested in his students, has gatherings outside of class to help. Class is usually a lecture supplemented with lots of questions and him calling on people to put up answers.
Best professor that I have had at RIT. Going to class is always fun and Cliver is always willing to answer any and all questions that people have.
Cliver is the best, he really puts his focus on the students and their needs. And his wife bakes. I didn't have any problem taking this class, he practices what he teaches so it's easier to learn from him, he's great.
Professor Cliver is so enthusiastic and cares so much about his students. He is an amazing professor because he truly tries to get into the mind of his students and sees what teaching methods work well for the class as a whole. He loves it when his students ask questions in class and see him during his office hours. Extremely helpful and nice guy.
Take him every chance you get!
Seriously, Take him for every class. I guarantee it is worth the 8am. Trust me!
He's clear, hilarious, and extremely helpful. The only negative thing I could think of is the fact that the exams had to be crammed into 50 minute periods and were therefore really short, and he didn't give partial credit. So a mistake cost a lot. But other than that, he's fantastic.
I had Prof. Cliver two semesters in a row and he definitely did not disappoint. He is an amazing teacher who really knows how to make you understand the concepts. If you're struggling and you go to his office hours, he troubleshoots to see how he can explain the concept differently in terms that you understand. Extremely helpful and very kind.
TAKE HIM!!! He attended RIT and understands what it is like to be a student at this school. He lets students come to his house on Fridays for dinnerextra helpfunwhatever. Only some of the questions on his exams are a bit unclear as to why they are worded the way they are. He assigns HW with required and recommended problems. DO ALL OF THEM!
Great professor! Takes things at a good pace in class and is willing to answer any question in or out of class. Fair tests, makes sure you're well prepared for them. Really cares about his students on a personal level. Used the textbook a lot for examples and homework.
Awesome professor. Really cares about your success in his class. He feels that your grade is a reflection of him as a teacher and does everything he can to make sure you succeed. Absolutely loves answering any and all student questions. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Everyone should have a class with Cliver, there's no other experience quite like it. The course material was hard (Signals, Systems and Transforms), but he's really good at explaining it. Go to his office hours, even just an hour a week can make a huge difference, and sometimes there's cookies!
He loves when you asks questions. So never be afraid to ask. He will encourage questions and will try to make sure everyone understands the material. The material is hard, but he makes learning it as easy as possible. Take his class! he is funny and very helpful
Really tries to help his students, and makes lectures extremely bearable. He constantly stresses the importance of questions and how they take no time at all to answer. Can go a bit fast sometimes but always slows down when requested.
While he may show up several minutes late to lab often, and frequently disappears for 20 minutes to go get coffee, or goes back to his office and gets distracted by some project only to be reminded that he was in the middle of lab. I love having Cliver as a lab instructor, he is funny, upbeat, clear in his explanations and is willing to help you.
Professor Cliver may very well be the best professor at RIT. In his lectures he breaks down complicated concepts into simple easy to understand concepts. After each concept Cliver will literally stop and beg the class to ask questions. He is incredible in office hours, and he bribes students to come with cookies. He loves teaching and is the man.
Sparked my interest in computer engineering. An amazing man and an amazing class. You will not regret taking Cliver.
Took Digital System Design 1 with him. Probably the greatest professor I've ever had/ will ever have. Enthusiastic every day, high energy lectures, pleads class to ask questions, bribes students with cookies to attend office hours, "Cliver House": on Friday nights provides free dinner at his house in addition to tutoring.
The best professor I've ever taken at RIT. His lectures are incredibly useful and enjoyable. He had regular office hours and was very helpful during them. He makes sure everyone in his class is very comfortable and encourages questions to the point where he will stop lecture until someone asks something. Worth the 8am 100%. TAKE HIS CLASS
Professor Cliver is hands down the greatest professor at RIT! He truly cares for his students and makes you comfortable to ask as many questions as much as possible. Overall, if you see Cliver for any class, take him!
I've taken as many courses with him as I could. Cliver is the single best professor I've ever had. He really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. He is always there if you need help. In class he always makes sure to answer all questions so everyone understands the material.
Professor Cliver is perfect. Even though I only took one freshman level class with him, I continue to learn from him even 3 years later.
Take his classes, you won't regret it. This man is amazing.
Knowledgeable professor who is always fine explaining concepts/questions multiple times(and ways) in class. Also accessible outside class; hosts office study sessions with cookies. Cliver is very good at understanding what might throw students off and then ameliorating. HW is from the textbook. TAs are not all as great but grading's standardized.
Professor Cliver is the best professor I've had. I've taken 2 different classes with him now and both have been amazing. He doesn't just understand the course, but his students. He will re-explain things multiple ways if he senses people don't understand him, an will adjust the material day-to-day based on student feedback and understanding.
Professor Cliver is a great man and great professor. He is hilarious and worth going to at 8AM. You will not be disappointed.
Great and understanding guy. Super nice in lab and is very helpful no matter how lost you are. If you can't make it to lab it's very easy to reschedule for another lab time.
He is a really fun professor, don't get me wrong electronics I, is a very difficult course. But he somehow makes it a little easier. He absolutely loves questions. He is very willing to help even if you are completely lost. Easy to talk to and find. Fair warning he does give lots of Homework.
Easily one of the best professors on campus. Makes sure everyone in the class understands the material and is always willing to help. Super friendly, super funny, and all around a great guy.
Very caring person and understands the students, like he's in our shoes. Very empathetic .Office hours are enjoyable. Be sure to take notes/understand topics that he covers for multiple days: most likely on the test. One thing I disliked is the switching from topics to lab discussions, ruining the organization.
Classes are enjoyable - Cliver puts a ton of effort into making sure students are getting material. Office hours are very helpful & he allows note sheets on most tests. HOWEVER!!! He has a tendency to jump from topic & imply stuff. If you find that you do not do well in loosely structured courses, don't take his course.
Loves answering questions. Explanations are precise and clear.
The lecture from Cliver was actually incredibly easy, but it was probably due to the nature of the course - DSD2 lab was extremely hard. Cliver is an amazing professor who cares for his students. Super reasonable and wants you to do well. Definitely go to his office hours and you will get great feedback and help.
Genuinely a nice person, and cares deeply about his students. He will have cookie days to encourage students to his office hours, understanding towards if a student is having a hard time, and just a overall amazing person. You can just talk to him about any and all problems whether it is related to class or not
I might have to take points off because you are only allowed to ask 1E6 questions per semester, and if you go over your limit he will have to allocate you more and its inconvenient. Seriosly, probably the best professor at RIT, and his humor helps you understand the material.
Love's questions, like loves them. Great person. For DSD I, here's how class goes: -Starts with an example of what you'll be learning and goes from there, can be confusing, so ask questions, he loves them -More and more questions, and you start to understand. -Everything clicks in the "Aha!" moment and class becomes both fun and educational
Professor Cliver is easily the one of the best professors at RIT. I took him for DSD2, and he did a fantastic job organizing the lectures. The lectures were actually fairly easy, as long as you paid attention and did the homework then the quizzes are very easy. Lab is very difficult, but Cliver was very helpful during office hours.
Professor Cliver LOVES teaching, and LOVES to see the reaction on a students face when he explains something in a way that is easy for them to understand. This man TRULY cares about the wellbeing of all of his students, and is extremely accessible outside of class. Also, his wife bakes cookies, and on Wednesday, you can go snag one from his office!
One of the best professors here on RIT. He enjoys teaching and makes it fun. If you have any questions he'll do his best to help you and make it easy to understand by giving examples. HE LOVES QUESTIONS!
I felt like we rushed through the lessons too much.
I specifically made my schedule so I can have this professor for a year straight. I took four classes with him and regret nothing. He is super organized and student-oriented. If you are lost in class ask questions since he loves them and he will explain the same question from different perspectives if the message isn't being understood completely.
Probably one of my favorite teachers of all time. He's hilarious, super smart, and answers every question a class has, whether it be super simple or super complicated. His motto is "You have a limit of asking 1,000,000 questions, so after that limit is passed, I'm not going to answer anymore". He teaches super well and connects with the students.
If you have the ability to take a class with this professor do so! He is one of the nicest, most chill, and most amazing professors RIT has to offer. His philosophy is for students to worry about actually learning the subject instead of learning how to pass quizzes and tests in the subject. Ask questions especially when it comes to his career.
Probably my favorite professor here at RIT, can't wait to attend his class in person next year.
best professor here on RIT. He enjoys teaching and makes it fun
Professor Cliver genuinely cares about the success of his students. He is very good at breaking complex content into easily understandable material and often uses humor to keep lectures interesting. I highly recommend professor Cliver.
Best Professor at RIT
Honestly, one of the best professors I have come across so far. Knows his stuff, and will not rest till he makes sure you know it too. Super kind and caring. Fair grader.
One of the best professors here at RIT. He is a divine entity worth every second of your time. If you don't stay for the incredible lectures you'll stay for the unmatched charisma.
Cliver is an amazing professor. He is always answering questions and wants you to ask a million questions. This was one of the first EE courses I took and truly enjoyed it. I was nervous about labs because I had never used EE equipment, and he went with me to a lab after class and explained to me how to use the equipment.
Cliver is the GOAT in the ECET department. If I could, I would take all my classes with him. Just be aware that all the knowledge you learn builds off each other so if you ever get stuck or confused ask questions. Cliver loves ?'s. He will do his best to make sure that everyone is on the same page so that you succeed in labs and on exams.
He assigns homework assignments with content that he hasn't taught in class. He is also teaching content that differs from what you are supposed to be learning for lab so you will be struggling in two classes at once.
Cliver is the GOAT, this man is so funny. He cares about his students and makes sure you know the material. 10/10 would take again, wish more professors were like him!
Professor Cliver was honestly the best professor a 1st year could ask for. He was laid back and loved to connect with his students. He loved questions, so if you ever are confused, never hesitate to ask. Cared for each of his students and worked diligently to make sure each one understood the content in class.
I took Circuits 1 with Professor Cliver in fall 2019. Cliver gives amazing lectures. He has real industry experience makes it clear that he cares that you learn. He will actively seek out questions by pausing his lecture and going to the back of the room and waiting until someone asks a question. He is passionate about what he teaches.
Took DSD1 with professor Cliver in the spring of 2020.Wonderful lectures, clear explanations, and he cares about the material. When I had him for this class, he had recently just left his engineering job to lecture full time and he brings a wealth of knowledge from industry into the classroom.
Cliver is amazing. Amazing support outside of and in class. He's so clearly excited to teach and highly encourages questions. Such a great experience taking his class.
Cliver knows his stuff and wants to help you do the same. He loves when people ask questions (and he'll make sure to let you know that every chance he gets). He makes his lectures engaging and fun, but still makes sure that you learn something
I legitimately love this man. He has such a contagious passion for what he does, he is hilarious in lectures, and he LOVES questions. Cliver will explain the same concept in 7 different ways without a qualm to make sure that everyone understands the material. He's got some amazing stories and you will never find a better DSD teacher. Truly a 12/10
Cliver's lectures are incredible. He's very animated and while he doesn't often use slides for his lectures, he draws out the concepts and breaks them down very simply. His teaching style may be challenging for those who need slides to learn. He's very friendly and loves questions. By far my favorite human in the EE/CE department.
Cliver is definitely the best professor I've had at RIT. I entered DSD1 with lots of prior knowledge and experience, but I can say that I couldn't have taught the material any better. He's the most flexible and chill, yet effective professor you'll find in a major-based course at RIT. All of the students love him and he LOVES questions.
One of the best instructors I have ever had. He is incredibly knowledgeable and can go far beyond the material in class, drawing on examples from his time in industry to explain the application of what you are learning. He effectively managed a class of over 100 students and took the time to answer every single question, no matter how small.
The Goat, best DSD teacher makes lectures really fun, really enjoys teaching his classes. Labs might be a little tough but the lectures for the labs are really amazing if you pay attention. Quizzes are not that hard and Exams allow a Cheat Sheet.
Professor Cliver is a truly incredible lecturer. His lectures can never be boring and he has made an environment where we have inside jokes in the class. His lectures are still very informative and he provides the information in a way that all of us can understand it. Even with the amount of classes he teaches, he is still accessible outside.
good guy
Professor Cliver is an incredible lecturer and a very kind individual. He has worked in the industry for decades and is always open to learning. He is very open with what he knows and provides helpful feedback. Professor Cliver loves questions.
Cliver is great. Kinda dry lectures, and easy homework. He is well respected and knows his stuff very well. Great professor and great person overall
Very nice guy and great professor. Quizzes and exams are just like the homeworks. Lectures are clear and informative. Only problem was he got behind on teaching VHDL so the lab section was teaching me VHDL a week before he covered it in class.
Professor Cliver has really figured out being a professor. He constantly encourages questions; I was skeptical at first but it became clear that he is right, you learn while you talk, not while he does. Great person who truly cares about student success, I wish more professors were like him.
Fantastic professor who works very well with students to succeed
Good guy, my favorite professor at RIT. Made circuits 1 enjoyable, and easy to understand, both which are not typical of the engineering professors. Before you take a class, always check if Cliver teaches it.
Cliver is one of the best Profs on campus by far. GCIS is a hard class to begin with, but Cliver makes it so much easier. His lectures are clear, and he is always willing to answer questions; in fact, he encourages it. On top of this, he's a great guy. I know he primarily teaches engineering, but I was blessed to have him as a csec major.
