Great professor. The kind of teacher that makes you want to become one yourself. He isn't easy but he's not a tyrant either. I highly recommend him. He makes class time useful to the students- not just a review of what you can read in the text.
Wants you to get a good grade and will do whatever it takes to give you one! Curves tests immensely and always gives you the benefit of the doubt. Takes notes in class since this is what he bases his tests from. Knows his stuff and wants you to learn it to. Again, he helps you get the best grade possible. Highly recommended!
i loved this class...hes very understanding, lets you retake test, is willing to meet and talk with you, teaches you more then whats in the book, easiy to understand...

He is a good teacher with these few exceptions: He taught a few biological ideas contrary to what the bio dept. teaches. Other professors have better mastered the art of minimizing ambiguity and vagueness in their test questions. He does curve tests a few points, but only in exchange for a "no argument" policy.
What an awesome teacher! I saw some bad comments about him, but it came from stupid kids that probably didn't want to study for his test and still get an A. He is a stud! He was my favorite teacher this last year. One of those good guys that is excited about his material and lives what he believes. Give him two thumbs up. Want a good teacher he'sit
He is a very good teacher. He explains things well with plenty of examples and clarifies concepts. Some test questions are vague but he grades on a curve. You have to study ALOT which is hard. You have to take good notes which to study from. Dont blame lack of discipline to study on the teacher.
Awesome class. His other classes are pretty difficult, but this one is not. It is very different from them. He still teaches great, and you will learn a lot that you won't learn anywhere else. I think all psych majors should take this class! As well as anyone who is thinking about psych. Information is so valuable to know. He knows his stuff.
Great person, but his tests were unbelievable. They were always filled with mistakes and a lot of questions would have multiple answers that could be correct but he said to choose the "most correct." All tests are lecture based so I hope you are an expert listener/ note taker!
His tests are really hard, but he's really intelligent and knows what he's talking about. Take really good notes!
Professor Cluff is one of my favorite teachers. His classes themselves aren't difficult, but the classes are very hard. If you read and take really good notes, you'll do fine. It is very obvious that he is a very intelligent person
He is a great teacher
Pretty tough class, had to read the textbook and take great notes during class. Tests were difficult. Won't allow retakes normally but after 4 months over the summer he let me do a retake. Talk about forgetting the material. Oh well.
Awesome! Take Abnormal Psych
he is a really cool guy and he an amazing teacher. plus he is funny
AMAZING TEACHER! Great lectures, loves to answer questions. He loves what he does, which makes it easier to learn from him. His tests are HARD though, STUDY STUDY! But he's the man.
He's a great teacher, but his tests are a little hard and don't seem relevant to what was taught in class or in the book. I really enjoyed going to class and learning from him.
Bro. Cluff seemed like he enjoyed teaching about psychology but usually talked the class to sleep. Discussions were usually very dull; he got an occasional laugh here and there. Tests were ridiculous and you never know whats going to be on them.
He is a good guy and this class is interesting. The tests are hard and long. The tests are a lot about lecture and sometimes you just have to guess.
Good teacher, you want to go to class because that is what is tested on. But great over all Teacher.
One Rad dude! You will learn lots and enjoy his humor and knowledge!
Bro. Cluff is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. His class was difficult, but very interesting. He is very passionate about what he teaches and very knowledgable.
Teacher is VERY difficult + super dull lectures. Knows a lot about the subject, but teaching style is only for Psych majors. Not very good at helping students, when asking for help he will only review your notes and tell you to take better ones. Tests are also based on how well you comprehend + apply the basic principles touched in class.
I used a digital recorder in class so I could review the class notes. Still struggled a lot. Difficult teaching style. Must have great test takeing abilities to Enjoy class. Would not reccommend.
I love this man! He looks like Robin Williams... ahaha but older. He is super funny... tests are hard. But I thought he was really interesting in class... "It's like a wing of a bee"
Cheerful teacher. Has Lectures, not discussions. (class sizes too large to be able to get the depth of understanding necessary if not a psych major) Yes, tests are very tough! Tough to follow lectures sometimes. However, he will review your notes w/ you and help you fill in the blanks during his office hours. Take only if very good memory.
Don't take this class. They way that he teaches is boring and dull. Sitting in class and listening to boring lectures isn't learning at all. When I asked him for help he put me on the spot and made me feel stupid. Test are 80% of your grade and thats it so it you are not good at taking tests then you will basically fail. Don't get him!
He is da' bomb!!!! Seriously!! He is one of the BEST teachers I've EVER had! He knows SOO much and he has GREAT discussions! Some people said trash about his class just because they never studied or even tried and they never spoke up in class so obviously you're not gonna 'discuss' if YOU don't 'speak up!' DUH!! He's freakin' awesome!!
Brother Cluff is an excellent teacher. I failed the class but it was my own stupid fault. His tests are difficult but if you are willing to study you should be fine.
I was afraid at first, because he said tests were 75-80% based on In-Class discussion. So if you don't take good notes you're screwed. However, it proved quite easy to take good notes: he gives you enough time between concepts to write everything down, and gives lots of examples. Hes an excellent teacher, just go to class and write down everything.
Overall excellent teacher!! Hardly have to use the book at all, just look over bolded words. Do have to take good notes, but it wasn't hard. DEFINITELY go to class: you don't, you won't get a good grade. He's good at working with students, too: afterward I asked him a question a few times, and he spent a good 15 minutes answering it in detail!!
The Learning Model does not exist in this class. Everything is lecture and power points. Great guy, though: very smart and friendly. Answers question in and out of class. You'll have to study notes, book, and attend class. Very hard class.
Brother Cluff is an incredibly engaging teacher - that says a lot, considering that 111 is a lecture class. He did a great job sparking my interest in the field. One of my favorite aspects of learning from him is his ability to make information stick with a student - I remember more from his class than from nearly any other I've taken!
His tests are impossible. He claims that if you go to lecture pay attention and review your notes you should do okay on the test but that is not true. He tells his class that his test are hard and that is the truth. The average for the first test was aroung a 57 out of 100. This is just a general studies class and it is way to hard. Super hard test
He is a great teacher and knows a lot about psychology. However, his tests are insanesly hard and multiple answers could be correct but that doesn't matter, only one is. Be careful if you take this class! Take great notes and if you have questions talk to his tutor. He is helpful.
great teacher just make sure you go to class and understand what hes saying and you will do fine! His tests are hard and you have to study but the class was awesome!
He doesn't take roll, but you HAVE to go to class. If you don't go you will fail the tests! Make sure you have really, really good notes. He is a really nice guy and a good teacher, but he is not easy! If you're looking for an easy A don't take brother Cluff.
He's a fairly good teacher, YOU HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS TO PASS THE TESTS. You must take "his" kind of notes. He is very specific about how to take notes, and his tests are worded funny and confusing. Difficult class.
He was tested on material not covered in class or in textbook. Not helpful at all.
His tests are really hard, but he's a good teacher in general.
pretty hard class. really need to write down EVERYTHING he says in detail, and then MEMORIZE it. but loves his topic and will work with you if you ask.
Although his tests are difficult and require much study, he is a powerful teacher that keeps you engaged in his lectures. I remember more from his lessons than from any other class. He's excited about what he knows and it shows. I would highly recommend him, despite the required study load. You won't regret it.
Prof. Cluff's Psych class was one of my favorites. His tests are challenging- you will need to take good notes. However, his 'old school' style of classroom lecture and not a lot of busy work is great. His lectures are interesting and engaging. I remember and use what I learned from his class more than any other I have taken. Definitely recommended
Abnormal Psych is a hard class but this is the guy to take it from. His lectures are AWESOME but his tests are difficult. He adjusts test grades to reflect possible confusion/errors in exchange for a 'no whining' policy. He REALLY knows his stuff and he is good at teaching it. Though it sounds cliche, he really is one of the best profs on campus.
His tests are absolutely ridiculous and the questions don't really make sense. They way he explains concepts is difficult to understand. I would not recommend this professor.
Great teacher I have taken a few of his classes. yes test are hard if your an idiot
bro. cluff is very nice. his test are a bit difficult and sometimes confusing, but he always curves them. he lectures really well and keeps things interesting, so you should definately go to class. the only assignments were a quiz per chapter so you need to read the book. he is very nice and is passionate about his subject. great teacher!
He is great in his lectures. Allows discussion. Sometimes he assigns quizzes (which are online, open book, and only 10 questions!). The test material is based on what he covers in class, so it is better to come to class. It is also good to study extra for tests!
Too much materials to remember. Quizes every week covering 2 chapters full of material to remember. His class keeps me too busy for much of my other classes.
He made me <3 psych! The class was very interesting but hard at the same time. You'll end up studying for at least an hr a day; word of advise - take your laptop, write down what he says & read it over. Don't read the book! His tests are tricky & you NEED to know the material he teaches in class. The quizzes online were easy, just glance thru book.
Goes out of the way for his students. Great, carring teacher, high recomendations. Favoret Professor for my first semester of school.
I love how he teaches! He makes class interesting.Tests won't be hard if You take good notes.(but sometimes the questions are a little bit tricky) English is not my first language, so I always need to study for my notes and my friend's notes to get a good comprehension. It's a class needs lots of works;however, I love it! I learned a lot from him!:)
Brother Cluff is awesome, one of my favorite teachers. Teaches from experience and gives real advice. Tough class, but awesome class at the same time.
Great Professor! His class is one of my favorites this semester. He gives great explanations for things that help you truly understand the concepts. Make sure to take good notes in class since tests are based mostly on lecture.
Brother Cluff rocks! Take very good notes as the tests are almost completely based off of what you know in class. Study up on ch. 2 he is always talking about ch. 2!!! I would recommend taking this class right after Psych 111. Bro Cluff is extremely helpful, he makes sense in his explanations, and he has a great sense of humor.
Go to all classes and take very detailed notes. Everything that is lecture will be on his tests. Heck, you might want to invest in a tape recorder. He's a great teacher who teaches from actual experience. If you're going into clinical or psychiatry, take great notes cause he knows what he's talking about.
I took the 7:45-8:45 MWF class, and that definitely shows in my grade. But Brother Cluff is a really good teacher. He always has excellent examples and likes to hear our own. His tests are almost exclusively from lecture, but they will randomly have huge sections of things not really discussed in class, and that is always frustrating. Very nice man
GREAT TEACHER REALLY CARES ABOUT THE STUDENTS BUT THE TESTS ARE SUPER HARD!!!!
Great teacher, is passionate about what he teaches, and can explain just about everything really well. Tests can be hard; I would suggest using the tutoring system. It helps a ton.
SO HARD! i studied so hard and i would always do awful on his tests i got a tutor and i still did bad.
Bro. Cluff is amazing! He's a great teach and know a lot! It's not an easy class so you have to put study time into it but as long as you take good notes and study them really good before the test it's easy to get an A in his class. The majority of his tests are based on his lectures so going to class is important if you plan on passing the class.
Brother Cluff is a great teacher, but his tests are killer! You have to go to class everyday or there's no way you'll be able to do well on the exams. This class is super interesting, but you have to be willing to take crazy good notes and study them everyday.
Brother Cluff is awesome!!! I love going to class cause his lectures are so interesting. My advice go to class!!! that where most of his test questions come from.
Brother Cluff really knows his stuff. He is a very brilliant man. I knew nothing about Psychology before I entered his class but everyday I learned at least 5 or 6 completely-new-to-me things. Because I knew so little to begin with it was an extremely difficult class. Took it my 1st semester and it was the hardest earned "A" I ever got but worth it
He really knows what he is talking about! He is also funny, tells great stories and always relates them back to the lesson. He's a GREAT teacher!
I loved Bro. Cluff! He is so smart and did a wonderful job of teaching! Make sure not to miss any class! Although he teaches really well, there is a lot of information to learn. If you don't want to miss anything, go to class everyday and Brother Cluff will make sure you know your stuff!
Great teacher! Loved this class, and honestly I think that because of the way he taught it wasn't that difficult of a class. Do the readings, come to class, study, pay attention, take notes and you will be fine. I love Brother Cluff he is the Bomb!
He's an excellent professor! If you have a chance to take a class from him, do it!
Makes class very interesting. If you miss a class though, you'll have a hard time catching up. Test were pretty difficult but ended up with a b-. Do ALL the hw and assignments and that'll really help your grade. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate what is a tangent and what you have to know, so study everything!
Bro Cluff is an amazing prof. He really knows what he is talking about and makes everything super interesting. Tests can be hard but it is worth being in his class for everything you learn! He's awesome.
This man is pretty cool, he only tests you on what he says in class, so no BOOK! But its hard to know his important infomation from a tangent he goes off on.
I really loved him! He was really good at explaining the concepts and making sure that they were clear. His tests were difficult, but he always curves them. Just take really, really good notes. He tells you onthe first day how you can take appropriate notes for his class which was really helpful. You can record his lectures as well.
Bro Cluff knows his stuff and is pretty good at explaining it. His test are difficult but he curves them so it's not to bad. However he is super cocky and thinks he knows better than the rest the therapist out there, mostly teaches his opinion. Very smart guy but he must be lonely on his pedestal
Cool guy. Really interesting class. Loved the lectures.. BUT the tests were absolutely brutal!! My straights As went out the window. I studied for around 14 hours and still got Cs and Bs on the exams. Avoid at all costs.
People, this class was hard. I don't mean the "a lot of studying and memorizing concepts," hard. I mean the "oh my gosh, why am I in college?" hard. Brother Cluff is a MASTER of Psych. He's being doing it his entire life. Because of this, he teaches the really tough stuff. If you want a challenge, take it from him. You WILL learn. You'll also cry.
This was an awful class, avoid at all costs. The test were outrageous and there was no hope at getting a good grade. The way he taught did not click with me and it made me end up hating psychology, which is sad because I loved it before. I took good notes in class, and studied for hours on end for the tests, and I still couldn't succeed.
Brother Cluff is a great teacher and I loved his class. Unfortunately I did not do well but still passed. His whole class is based on tests which were really hard which is why I didn't do well. I recommend recording his lectures. Class isn't required but that's what you're tested on. Work hard!!
Abnormal psych was a hard class but possible to get an A. He is an amazing teacher and will really keep your interest and explain things clearly. His tests are incredibly difficult. Most comes from his lecture (so don't ever miss class) but some comes from text book so read it. Chapter quizzes that you can take as many times as needed.
Brother Cluff is a good teacher but he is also confusing at times. He really cares about his students but sometimes he doesn't fully explain concepts. He is willing to answer your questions and is all around a good guy! BE PREPARED TO STUDY A LOT!!!
Professor Cluff is a good teacher, but his tests are INCREDIBLY HARD. I had a tutor who would help me study almost every week, and I reviewed the notes every night, and I passed with a C. If you want to take this class, know that you have to put in A LOT of work to get an A, his tests are super tricky, and you will have to read out of the book.
This man may have helped save my career. I couldn't get enough of this class, and the teacher's passion for the subject is amazing. I've rarely if ever seen anyone so passionate about anything.
Bro. Cluff is an awesome teacher. He knows what hes talking about and always gives opportunities in class to ask questions. If your not into note taking then do not take this class!! All of the tests are based on in class notes. The tests are hard if you dont study or dont come to class.
Brother Cluff is an extremely difficult professor. His tests are very hard and very long. 90% of the teat material comes from the lectures. You have to take really good notes in class and he doesn't tell you what is on the test so you have to study a lot. If you miss a test its a zero, he won't work with you. Good luck if you take his class..
Brother Cluff knows Psychology better than the back of his hand. You can tell he loves his subject. I loved his class. His tests are ridiculously hard. I was part of a group of students that would study for his tests everyday for up to five days before the test. The grades in the group would range between failing and an A, with most passing.
Brother Cluff tests are insanely hard. You almost have to take notes word for word. The grade a received does not in any way reflect what I learned in the class. I learned more from him than any other teacher. He has a lot of knowledge, but he tests yours with his tests. Be prepared to study and to really know every inch of your notes.
Brother Cluff is an awful teacher. He gets distracted easily and is off on a tangent at least once every class. His lectures while informational are boring and his tests are harder to do then to listen to him talk for an hour. Brother Cluff is the definition of a wise know it all big headed professor who is willing to do everything but work with u.
I loved Brother Cluff! When he tells you to take notes, he is serious! I basically wrote down everything I could, and I would record all of his lectures. His tests are literally based off of everything he says in class. No busy work - which I loved. Quizzes on each chapter, but you can use the book. Just study well for the test!
Brother Cluff is an amazing teacher. He makes the subject super interesting when otherwise I would be bored. He has out of class quizzes that are easy if you do the textbook readings. These quizzes are usually every few weeks. As long as you take good notes in class, you'll have no problem on the exams. Come to class if you want to pass(:
Brother Cluff is a great teacher who is passionate about psychology. I have learned so much from this class. The subject is rough, and it takes A LOT of studying to do well on the exams, because he pushes you to learn as much as you can. I recommend recording the lectures, because the tests are solely based on class lectures.
The class is hard. You have to go to class. The tests are based on the lectures. The textbook is not needed for you to pass the test. If you take good detailed notes and study them well, you will be fine.
Bro. Cluff is super nice, passionate and pretty funny. Going to class is essential. His tests are based on his lectures so notes and attendance are important. Hardest part of the class is the tests. You really need to study.
Cluff's lectures are always interesting. He really knows what he is talking about. Tests are about 70 questions though, they come from straight lectures so go to class. Doesn't take attendance. If you study notes from lectures you should do fine. No homework but reading quizzes one to twice a week from the textbook.
This class and Brother Cluff really disappointed me. All he does is bash on the DSM-5 and teach his opinion, then expects you to test well solely based on his lectures and largely on his opinions. His lectures are long and he can be really condescending, especially when student's opinions/questions are not in line with him. Overall frustrating.
Tough class. Super funny teacher. Loved the material even though it was really rough. Learned a lot of fascinating things. Loved this class and highly encourage it! But be prepared to work your butt off!
We read a chapter and take a quiz before class, and then during class he doesn't even talk about what we just read. He makes weird mouth noises and makes bad jokes though! Going to lecture wasn't necessary for exam help, but if you didn't go you were knocked down points. Choose another professor!!!!
Brother Cluff is great! His syllabus seems daunting but don't let it fool you. He is super cool and very smart. Don't skip class. Tests are mainly off notes. He is a hard teacher because of that but if you pay attention you will do just fine. I really enjoyed his class and I learned a lot more than I had expected to.
If you actually want to learn, Cluff is your professor. He teaches in a way that forces you to understand concepts over mindless memorization of facts. One thing I really like is when you ask him to repeat something from his lecture he restates it differently so you understand the concept through a different perspective. Amazing teaching skills!
Brother Cluff is an absolutely amazing teacher. Introduction to psychology is not intended to be a super difficult class, but it will become one if you don't come to class and don't do the readings/pay attention to the lectures. However, show up to every class, take good notes, and you will do well. Cluff teaches for understanding. He's a master.
He is amazing! If you don't go to class. You won't pass! The tests are all on his lectures. So take a lot of notes. It was a fun and great class. He is really funny. You do a lot of fun activities, like train baby chickens and interpret dreams.
Cluff is Awesome! The lectures are very good. His tests are heavily about his lectures. He is very intelligent and backs his opinions up with strong evidence and reason. Attendance is not mandatory but you will not pass the tests if you don't go to class. I didn't use my book much. Very little homework. No dumb group work. Overall great class.
Brother Cluff seriously knows what he's talking about. I don't think I've ever learned more in a class. You'll be quizzed over stuff in the book, so get it; but most of the stuff on the exams is from in-class lectures. You need to be motivated to take really good notes, or you won't have anything to study for exams, and you probably won't pass.
This class was really awesome. Loved the material and Bro. Cluff did a great job at helping students being able to understand it and really be able to see the application of it. His class is pretty heavily based on tests and they have a lot of focus on the application so you need to study and understand the material but the class was really good.
Brother Cluff is really knowledgeable, but his class is all lecture if you miss one class your kind of screwed so make sure to go. I would recommend recording his class he dumps so much information in one setting it was hard to keep up with all the information that was give. Test are hard, but you really learn.
Brother Cluff is fair. There are unscheduled quizzes, he'll let you know in class whether you need to complete a quiz before the next class. His tests are tricky, he really messes with your head. One of the first tests had 20 questions in a row where the answer was "D." Don't stress over the experiments, make an effort and he'll give you credit.
Brother Cluff is an AMAZING professor! I took his class at 9 in the morning and never had an issue with falling asleep in class. His lectures are super interesting. His tests are pretty hard, if you don't go to class, you definitely will not pass his tests. He does have online quizzes but they are open book.
He is very knowledgeable and I found his lectures super interesting. Be sure to pay attention and take notes to do well on the tests.
Dr. Cluff is a great guy and you can tell he is very passionate about psychology. However, if you do not go to class, you won't pass. His tests are 90% of what he talks about in class. Plus, the tests are 80% of your grade, which makes it much more difficult. Last, MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BOOK for his quizzes.
DO. NOT. TAKE. THIS. CLASS. He gives amazing lectures but you are only graded on 5 major tests. It isn't do you know it or not, it's do you know it 150% and can I try and trick you on a 80 question test. He makes this class so much harder then it needs to be, PLEASE take psychology111 from another teacher if you want a good grade
I LOVE Brother Cluff! His tests are based off of his lectures almost completly, so make sure you attend every class you can. I used the tutoring center every week so that I knew I was getting all the points and understanding the material. Overall, it was a ton of work but I learned more than in any other class that semester.
Brother Cluff is a professional in every sense of the word. It is clear from his lectures that he is exceptionally knowledgeable when it comes to Psychology. His class is one of the best I have taken in college. Tests make up a big part of your grade, but if you study and pay attention you will get a ton out of this class. I highly recommend it.
Amazing teacher with unique perspective and experiences. His tests are difficult and weighted heavily.
He was an amazing teacher! His lectures were clear and very detailed. Best part of his class is having his very extensive professional knowledge added to what the textbook says. I seriously have never been more interested in lectures before. His tests are hard and they account for almost all your grade but his class was worth it!
Brother Cluff has a really strange teaching style. It honestly didnt help me at all. He doesnt seem to simplify very well. When you dont understand something, and you ask for clarification, he tends to make it even more confusing. His exams are really long and rely heavily on lecture attendance.
I chose to ignore the bad reviews of Brother Cluff because I wanted a great, knowledgeable professor for this topic. However, he has been a very tough professor. He does not explain things clearly and often inputs his opinion on any given topic which makes it confusing to seperate truth and opinion. He is demeaning and tends to overcomplicate.
I really like test and lecture heavy classes so I chose to ignore the negative comments for Bro Cluff and take his class. BIG mistake. His lectures are interesting but filled with personal bias and he does not spend equal time with all of the test material. I like a good challenge but his tests are hard because they are POORLY WRITTEN.
The reason I decided to be a Psychology major was because of Brother Cluff's class. I took this class more than a year ago and still remember everything he taught me. His class is hard, but if you record the lectures and study everything he says in class, you will do great! I look forward to other classes from him!
Dr. Cluff is a really nice guy. His test questions consist mostly of in class lectures. I would recommend recording the class and then re-listening to it. Also, it helps to take the best notes you have ever taken before and write pretty much everything down. He is a good teacher & you can learn a lot from him if you work hard.
He's such a sweet man. But his lectures are long, and go off on tangents. He often asked an open ended question, and would wait for us to come up with the specific answer he was looking for. I'm a good test taker, but I got C's on all of his exams. There is no study guide. Not a lot of assignments. His tests are all based on his lectures. Not a fan
Super great teacher makes class fun and interesting. He is kinda quirky and funny. Tests are really tough and are based off of how good of notes you took from class. The book is kind of helpful.
There's quite a bit of work for this class. The material is clear, but 90% of what is on tests is what he says IN class! That said, you still need to read the textbook. Tests are difficult. Quizzes are easy-online, open book. Very few assignments outside of class. Really fun, easy IN class only activities! You can tell he LOVES what he teaches.
Brother Cluff is absolutely knows his stuff and is updated on the most recent psychological research. Sit in the front of class, not in the back so that you can hear him. There is some reading and you should do it, but what you will be tested on will be said in class, not in the text book. Not a lot of work but most of your grade is the the tests.
Dr. Cluff is incredibly knowledgeable. He really understands deeply what he teaches and can answer questions very clearly. That being said, hes not the kind of "pat you on the head and say what a good student you have been" kind of teacher. Quizzes and tests are really specific but material is really amazing and interesting.
I was expecting this would be one of my easier classes. Boy was I wrong. The class in general was interesting and I enjoyed it; however, when tests came around, no matter what I studied or matter how much I studied I could not seem to get the grade I wanted. This class is very much based on what the professor wants to teach. I learned LOTS though
Cluff represents everything wrong with intelligent people who know they're intelligent and feel the keen, unyielding desire to shove it down your throat instead of using their talents to be of any actual help.
Anything he says in class is fair game on the test and he wont always cover everything thats on the test. Great teacher, fun class, but hard. He didnt cover a lot of the material for our final because he missed 5 days of lecture due to a surgery and gave us the same test anyway. Hurt a lot of peoples grades
Classes are little boring and sometimes he's saying his thing.
Professor Cluff is brilliant! and not in the prideful sort of way. He will share some awesome personal experiences. Exams are heavy but he curves them. DONT miss class, take good notes, study them efficiently. Do this and you'll do well. It wouldn't hurt to see him in your spare time and he will definitely give you his time to help (or see tutor).
You have to take really detailed notes for the tests. He writes his own tests and they are very difficult because they all come from his own lectures, and he doesn't always cover all the material he needs to for the tests. Some of the things he teaches contradict the book, so you need to pay attention in class. 10/10 would not recommend.
I liked Brother Cluff. I had a hard time in his class especially with the tests. If you don't do the readings or quizzes before class you will be behind. You have to study or you won't pass the tests.
I can honestly say that Brother Cluff is the worst professor I have ever had. He cares more about making his course as difficult as possible than he does about your success as a student. I got tutors and studied constantly, but it didn't matter, I never got more than a C on any of his exams.
My understanding of abnormal psychology and mental health changed and improved dramatically through this class. Word of warning, DO NOT SKIP CLASS! I skipped one week of class due to a fever and I received a 50% on the test instead of my usual 83%. Your understanding of the material is highly dependent on going to the lectures and taking good notes
Never take a class from him. Absolutely my worst prof. His tests expected you to have black and white answers when he taught nothing as black and white. Every test had trick questions. Never gave straight answers. Slides were never useful. If you don't write down everything he says then you won't have everything you need, still might not even then.
Dr. Cluff is amazing and a genius psychologist! Everything he says will/can be on the exam. WRITE DOWN EVERY WORD even if it seems obsolete! If you dont go to class, you will not pass. Go over the exams with him afterwards, it will help you understand him and the topics better. He is very very fair with grading and gives TONS of mercy.
He is nice, but in lectures most of it is his opinion. His tests are hard because it's very specific things that he said in class. You have to take good notes and go to tutoring to pass because the tutor can tell you what is important to focus on.
Professor Cluff know his stuff! He has an enormous amount of experience and applies what we learn to real life situations. For instance, how to study more effectively. The exams are all based on the lectures and little to nothing out of the book, TAKE GOOD NOTES AND STUDY THEM.
Thee worst class I have ever taken. With going remote Cluff decided to make most of the test questions fill in the blank, so if you don't pay attention to literally all of his "quotes" you fail the test. He would tell us things to study for the test that didn't end up being on the test. If you have to take this class, TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE ELSE!
STAY AWAY!! Terrible teacher. Since being remote he said he needed to change all the exams to be all fill in the blank.. how does that make sense? Write EVERY THING he says down or you won't pass the exams which is worth 80% of your grade. Lectures are all his opinion and almost never match up with what you read in the textbook. Again, STAY WAY.
Constantly gave 80-100 question exams that were all short answer. Class averages were about a 50%. Textbook was used for tests but never referenced in class. For someone teaching about mental illness, he was also highly opinionated about it not being a real thing. Terrible professor, AND he's the department chair of psych.
I was in the tutoring center everyday and had a very difficult time passing this class. He gave interesting lectures and I really enjoyed what we learned, but his tests were super difficult and didn't feel like it was at all what I had studied. The tutor later told me he's the most difficult professor to take this course from. Go another route.
This class is one of the reasons I decided to change my major. Brother Cluff made everything difficult. From not giving us the second exam until AFTER the drop period with tuition refund, to contradicting what students had to say in their own opinion. Would not take again. EVER. I'll stick with an easier degree, thanks.
You want to pay to fail a class, by all means, take it from Brother Cluff. You have to write down EVERYTHING he says or you will fail!! If you don't answer the way he wants it answered; You will FAIL! Also, he has no problem dismissing you in class. I was in a study group, took good notes, and meet with a tutor and still struggled! RUN IF YOU CAN!!
Let's just say, there is a special place in the Telestial Kingdom for professors who set their students up for failure. Avoid him as much as you can!!!
Brother Cluff is the best for Ab Psych. If you attend class you will do well on the exams. Do not miss class as everything he says can be on the exam Keep good notes! You will not find better insight on mental health issues and his lectures are extremely interesting. Those who rated badly either did not show up or try in this class. Easy if you try
