If you attend lecture and write the papers, you should have no problem!
Read every page of the readings assignments. Do not EVER miss a class.
Constitution exam is EASY...but midterm is hard as hell!!!! he's very tricky!! understand more than memorize....overall it's alright
Biggest moron ever
Presidency class is a lot of fun
Dr. Conley's class inspired me to change my major to Political Science. I absolutely loved this class and would take more by Conley again.

Avoid at all costs.
hard class,hard teacher, hard tests
I spent all of high school doing mock congressional debate, and I found the class just ridiculous. Hated the tests, and really feel it was the worst class I've taken. I don't think it's totally his fault, but I'd try a different prof.
very informative and very knowledgeable
boring lecturer.... too conservative to be a poli sci teacher.... big headed.... big ego
Lots of pointless reading. Conley's a nice guy, but there's just too much BS in this class. The monotone voice needs to go!
I LOVED this class. Conley is so nice and always willing to talk to students. I found the class really interesting. He is conservative but so am I so I think it is refreshing to see that on such a liberal college campus.
Great guy, the Presidency is a great class and I highly recommend it.
He is possibly the most boring person on Earth. Also exudes has a "better than thou" attitude. Take American Fed. Gov't with someone else!! There are many other professors that actually act like they want to be teaching the class. AWFUL!
Makes government interesting, good readings, good class, not too hard.
Good professor, not so bad class. It's pretty easy but there are a lot of pointless reading assignments. Lectures could get pretty boring. But, tests are clear and easy. If you're not interested in federal government you'll definately hate this class.
He knows he is smarter than you,and isn't afraid to tell you, he can't stand people who leave his class when he's running over time, class isn't that hard...
His class is pretty easy, but he is probably one of the most boring professors I've ever had. He loves to hear himself speak and he hates it when people leave his class early or come late. Lectures are usually a waste of time (sporadic attendance quizzes... 3 so far)
monotone
He's pompous, it's true. And his lectures can be dry. Simply takes too long to explain simple, obvious concepts. Discussion section w/TA was best part of class. There are weekly quizzes or short paper assignments. Conley's real love is for the Presidency. Makes study guide for exam. Relatively easy.
He gets angry about those leaving class early or coming in late. He also gets upset with those reading newspapers in class...will actually step down off his podium to make a fool of you in class. Not a hard class though. Fairly easy A or B as long as you keep up with quizzes or weekly assignments.
VERY boring professor, hard to stay awake in class, monotone, dull
He knows his subject, and he can even be interesting if he likes what he's discussing. Still, he's a pompous jerk, and he refuses to interpret students' disinterest as a problem with his monotonous, overly conventional style. Still, a ridiculously easy class.
He's about as interesting as the red bricks of the lecture hall. Smart guy, his class is easy, but don't expect to be awake for the entire lecture. Bring a recorder with you.

THIS GUY IS A JERK. really. plus he's really really boring..i mean REALLY BORING. if you leave early, come late or do anything else in class he'll point you out. Plus, he has an annoying kermit-the-frog voice. RUN AWAY RUN AWAY
his voice makes you want to fall asleep...especially at an 8:30 AM class. i couldn't stand him and thought he was rude and inconsiderate of students needs. i would seriously suggest taking a different class or another professor. the class was easy, just make sure you do the work (not hard at all)
Very easy, straight foward class. He teaches as if we were freshman in highschool. I don't know if this is because he gives us no credit and thinks we're idiots or because he doesn't know that much.Complete jerk to students who actually attend his boring lectures.BORING! All in all,Conley is a doofus
this man is so boring and forces you to come to class by having random attendance checks- namely the day before winter break. the class is easy however, just pure memorization for the tests.

If you had a choice PICK ANOTHER TEACHER!He is the Most Boring Professor I have ever Had. He is Big Jerk and not considerate of the students at All. He embarasses the students for little things instead of focusing on his boring lecture.
Worst teacher ever. He doesn't teach the material that is on his test. Conley is arrogant and condescending. AVOID HIM!
Straightforward power point lectures. Nothing exciting. Just go to class.
Straightforward power point lectures. Nothing exciting. Just go to class.
If you want to go to class and listen to the other idiots in your class explain their lame-brained ideas on current political trends then this is the class for you. But, if you are interested in learning something, avoid this class. Grades consists of 2 papers, niether of which will he speak on indepth in advance. Good luck guessing what he wants.

an ****
wonderful!
what a butthead. depend on your t.a. discussion leader. pretty east class....but he's an a$$
boring to death, and does not teach anything of value
He does speak in the monotone, which can be deathly boring but as long as you show up and study slightly, POS2041 with him is pretty easy.
Probably the worst teacher at UF. He is such a pretentious pompous jerk. He talks about his biased research and never discusses exam material until he hands out a semi-helpful review sheet days before the test. AVOID HIM!
He was highly boring.
he didn't really do much teaching. TA's will save your life. TAKE NOTES though, because that's where he get's pretty much all of his test questions
Conley is not bad. His tests are good if you study. His TAs are awesome, especially Hans. Grade is based on short weekly assignments (not hard), Constitution Exam, Midterm and Final (all multiple choice). Tip: study the concepts on his notes (ppt slides) in depth using your textbooks. You should be fine. He seems to be a nice guy, despite comments.
I enjoyed the class, discussion class that is. Lectures were pretty boring. Make sure to go to class though and do all weekly assignments. They only take about 45 minutes or less. Conley isn't too bad but he can be an ass if he wants.
Class is not that eassy but he is really helpfull.
Okay... It's a boring introductory class, BUT: it was very structured and he put up all the notes online. If you just glanced at them, you were fine. I repeat, the topic is boring and let's be real, this guy specializes in Canadian politics, but he's extremely nice and engaging if you visit him in his ofice and show interest.
worst political science teacher in the department. rude, uncaring, and just downright mean. i suggest you take another class or drop it fast. good luck.
Hes a real jerk. Class is pretty easy, and ta's are cool- but he is not very nice, and lectures are really boring.
Should probably visit some other lectures to see how to properly educate people.
He seems very distant in class, but if you go to his office hours and show interest he is a really cool guy! Very helpful and cares about his subject. His class is pretty straight forward, but there is a LOT of reading so be prepared!
He is so condescending and rude that I almost think he acts that way as a joke...I hope, for his sake its a joke! He does have one redeeming quality however, just about the sweetest set of man-**** you'll ever lay eyes on!!!!!!!!!!
not a good experience at all. he is not helpful. if you email him asking for help he will respond with a sarcastic comment about this being a college level course. his tests ARE detailed even though he claimes they aren't.
He is very professional and expects his students to be so as well. Does not tolerate excessive talking or reading Alligator, etc. Has a tight rein on class but is very knowledgable about the subject and paying attention to lectures is a must for success.
Conley is a straightforward guy. If you come to every class, take thorough notes, and do the readings, you'll do well in the class. Lecture and discussion attendance factors in the grade, and reading is about 4 chapters a week.
He is a very fair teacher. Just go by his rules and you will be fine. Does require a lot of reading each week, but most you can just skim through. Grades are not totally dependent on tests, which is good.
he was very clear about what is due, and when, but his tests are hard
He's pretty arrogant. If you go to lecture and pay attention, you'll do decent on the tests. He requires a lot of reading, but the grade is based on more than just tests, which is good. Show up, turn off your cell during class, and you'll be fine.
He expects students to pay attention and you are required to attend class. I thought the grading was relatively fair but there is a lot of material to know. The TAs were very nice and helpful. You should do fine.
professor conley is very intimidating and he likes things done a certain way. attendance is VERY IMPORTANT so make sure you go to class and he nevver cancels class, he said hes only cancelled 3 times in 9 years. hopefully you'll have a good TA and just do well on the tests & weekly assignments and you should be fine
Hes an ass but good at teaching his subject. He is really set in his ways, so make sure you do things exactly like he says. GO TO CLASS! I had an awesome TA, and if you do well in the short assignments, study for the exams and do well on the paper an A is in your future. Youll get review sheets if you have a good TA.
If you are someone who doesn't like to go to class, do yourself a favor and drop this one while you still can. Tests and papers only make up 55% of your grade, the rest is based on attendance and participation and turning in the ridiculously easy weekly assignments. I have an A average on my two tests and paper and will still probably get a B+

I don't understand why everyone is so upset by Professor Conley. He is an excellent lecturer and he has a high standard for his students. If you took a few minutes to pay attention to his class rather than grumble about getting up at 8:30am, you'd know he is a good teacher. He is opinionated, but from what I've read on here, so are most of you!
If you want an uber arrogant professor, I definitely recommend. If you hypocrisy is your bag of chips, take the class. I was stupid enough to read bad feedback on this wonderful website and think that perhaps he would be better in a higher level class. I WAS WRONG! Conley should stick to publishing because teaching is not his forte'

makes class intresting, stickler for grammer, fair on grading
I won't lie and tell you that Dr. Conley comes off as an ass at first and he is very intense. He does calm down a bit though. WATCH YOUR GRAMMAR! It is not hard to get an A if you really put the work into your papers. I have never been more proud of an A than I was in his class. Take Presidency.. easy poli sci class with only a few papers.
He is arrogant and useless. I had a question about the syllabus and he responded to my question by saying that if I had to ask it, I wasn't smart enough to be in his class. He needs to learn a thing or two about basic human decency.
Conley is exactly what you DO NOT want your teacher to be. He is not understanding, extremely pompous, and seems like he does not enjoy teaching. He knows the subject but has no business being employed as an educator. Teachers like him can ruin an otherwise positive college experience. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES.
Have never met a more arrogant professor. He is on the ultimate power trip and loves to belittle someone whenever possible. Unless you have a severe brown nose or come from irish descent, don't plan on making an A. Your attendance will "magically" drop when grading period comes around. P.S- He never makes a mistake. Period.
BORING! I am Irish and I still found this class boring. Maybe it's because he is having family issues right now, but we didn't have any tests. Two film analysis papers and a final research paper 12pgs. Other than that, we had random quizzes when he can tell we are not reading the EXTENSIVE material. One week we read 185pgs. for one lecture. Got B+
Dr. Conley is not as bad as everyone says he is. He is very knowledgeable about the presidency and American government. You basically go to class, sign the attendance sheet and listen to him speak. He does encourage class discussions. You have three 5-page papers. He does take attendance seriously. He tries to be lively so give him a break.
lectures were not helpful, tends to go on tangents, which are not very interesting, not very warm or helpful outside of class, anal about attendance, arrogant and self-important, definitely one of the worst professors i've had.
One of the nicest teachers you will ever have in college. Good guy and enjoys trying to make the class laugh. Only three 5 page papers and no tests. If you are a republican.. a must take class. Finally! a teacher who isnt a liberal. Didnt know that was possible at UF. Actually wears a shirt with Ronald Reagan's face on it to class.. good stuff!
Interesting class, great professor. Had to write 3 short papers for the class, none of which were hard to write. Go to class because he takes attendance. His lectures weren't that structured and he often would let the class just discuss current events.
The epitome of the arrogant, self-righteous academic. He condescends to his students, randomly assigns 100s of pages of reading and wastes time complaining about the class almost every lecture. He's the worst professor I've ever had! He's NEVER prepared for a class and rambles the entire time. Most of his lectures have no structure or topic.
Conley is a rude guy with very little personality. He is a stickler about attendance and other things most professors don't care about. I would wait and find another teacher to take the course if you must have it. Way to much boring reading also and too many papers to count!! I wish I had been smart and dropped the class before it was too late.
Conley is a great professor! Sometimes he does ramble about other things and tells the same story more than once but if anything, it kills time and makes the class interesting! Of course there's a lot of reading; it's a Poli Sci class! Easy A if you just do the work and pay attention in class; he's not a hard grader on papers.
Worst teacher ever! Rude, haughty and will spend literally half the class talking about HIS opinion! Makes the class tougher than it needs to be, the TAs save your life, make sure to do the weekly assignments! Just listening to his boring, repetitive lectures at 8:30 am was NOT worth it! I highly suggest taking POS 2041 with another teacher!
Hope he burns.
Ridiculous professfor. Takes attendence in a 300+ class, lecture notes really don't help much. "Study guide" is a 150+ list of terms to know and the exam is not based on definitions. Too many papers for not enough credit- although do them bc they save you. The TAs always have your back. Seriously, take this class with another professor!
The notes are almost useless. Don't ask questions unless you want to look stupid. Tests are harder than what he says. GO TO CLASS AND WRITE THE WEEKLY PAPERS. He says that all you need to know are the boldfaced terms in the textbook but that is NOT true. I don't even know what the tests were based on.
His exams are far tougher than you'd expect; READ THE TEXTBOOK. He's not accommodating if you have to miss class, even if it's for a university-sponsored activity. The writings are manageable but you'll be doing approximately 500 words per week. My TA was excellent and I feel like they're generally quite helpful.
Secret about Dr. Conley: he does not want to teach his introductory courses! So he's really condescending and dry in lecture (note difference in his upper level course ratings). You might chuckle once in a while. Maybe. The textbook was ridiculously expensive: $170. Attendance is a must! Seriously, go to class. My TA was amazing. Pulled off a B
Mandatory attendance in lecture. Easy weekly papers. He is VERY unclear about what will be on exams. Dr. Conley is rude to his students. I politely emailed him 3x to discuss my grade, and he mocked me each time. Loves to give his own opinions but doesn't like the opinion of others. If you want his help, don't bother. He *really* is a bad professor.
AWESOME! Visit him in office hours it HELPS! Super nice & funny if you visit, gives tips. Attendance is MANDATORY, papers are super easy, had awesome TA got out with an A, made C's on midterm and constitution exam, A on final(easier than other 2) Just do readings! Don't fall behind! Take lots of notes, majority of lecture on exam!
Ignore other ppl rating, probably mad bc they didn't pass. Tough class, well worth time. Easy papers, attendance mandatory, Notes very useful!! GO TO OFFICE HOURS! Gives tips on what will be on exam.
where did everyone buy their textbooks for pos2041? and how much were they?
Eh..I took this over summer term, so it was super condensed, and NOT fun.Our grade was basically based on 90% tests and 10% attendance. The readings from the Choices Book(you have to buy the textbook w the Choices book)weren't in the tests a single time.Just listen during class, read your textbook the week before the test, and do the best you can.
POS2041 is an okay class. His lectures are kinda boring. The discussion sessions are helpful. Haven't used my text book at all. But the choices book you have to use for the weekly assignments. It's not my favorite class. One of my friends is taking POS2041 with a different professor and its much easier. I wouldn't recommend Conley
Conley is very biased in his views. he is Conservative and likes to skew all lectures and assignments towards this. He also likes to name drop and brag about all of the places he's visited (I remember a time I was in Paris...) The class has potential but is actually pretty boring. Midterms are killer!
I've had Conley 3 times during my college career. Every time I got an 'A.' Easy class if you show up. I take his class if I want to slack off. POS4413 is almost all papers with one take home final at the end. He is very flexible with tests and papers, will move it if you complain enough. Talk to him about Paris and he will love you.
POS2041: Dr.Conley has very conservative political views which sometimes influence what he teaches. People who disagree with him say he's mean but I think he's a great teacher. However, his tests are pretty difficult so be sure to study A LOT!
HARD!! Avg. for the 1st midterm was 65. He curved it a bit though(first time in his 12 years of teaching). Don't be fooled by constitution exam, much easier than midterms. Weekly papers help your grade, but you better hope you get a good TA. One word: Tenure. He's been there forever & can do what he wants. He needs to give it A REST(pun intended)
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I will begin by saying Conley was arrested while I had him, and we didn't have class for 3 weeks. He did, however, still put that missed information we would've learned in those lectures in the final. Subjective to the point of it being detrimental. The tests are a guessing game of what his republican bias believes. AVOID!!!
Ughh! Awful class! He is an extremely arrogant man who somehow reverts all lectures to his traveling. (Speaking of Nixon, I remember a time I was in Ireland...Speaking of Ireland, did I mention how many languages I'm fluent in?...)The TAs will be your saviors in the class, and are constantly battling him for your greater good. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! Conley just rants about himself and his travels. His lectures are useless. The exams are impossible to pass. His study guide is just a print out of all the vocab words. He is rude, extremely arrogant and extremely biased. His exams are subjective. If you are forced to take this course, get to know the TA's.
The first exam is subjective and impossible. Aside from that, Conley does give a lot of useful information. If you do the weekly assignments AND submit them online, go to class, and read, the class requires a little work but is doable. I'm not that into government, but he made the class interesting
EASY CLASS! he's a nice guy and knows a lot about the presidency. his lectures are extremely boring but you don't need to go. the textbook is only used for the 5 Papers (3 short 3-5 pg papers, 8-10 pg take home midterm, & 5-8 pg take home final) easy grader but pretty big on grammar. very understanding with deadlines. cancels class all the time
POS 2041 (American Federal Government) is a very doable course as long as you complete every weekly short assignment (max 2 pages), attend class regularly, and study the important terms in each chapter required to read. Prof Conley is very clear with his expectations and lectures. Exams are pretty much easy, but can be subjective. Overall good clas
This class was not hard at all if you just show up to class and do the short assignments each week (took me maybe a half hour). He can come off as a jerk sometimes, but has turned out to be one of the fairest professors I have taken. Anything above a 90 was an A.
Fair grader and informative. Rants on about an hour before heading to the presidency. Ultimately disregards the readings after five weeks into the class. The papers are easy, but if some life-shaking tragedy occurs, don't expect him to give you any leeway; you are expected to have the assignment finished regardless of your current emotional state.
He is short with people. He doesn't cover 80% of the material on the Exams. Not an easy class.
Rants about his own political views in class. Doesn't prepare you at all for the tests. Exams are most of your grade and there is barely any other way to bring your grade up. Doesn't respond to emails and seems to not care at all about his students or how they do.
Professor Conley is more concerned with his own political views than teaching the class what they need to know for his class to pass. The first exam (Constitution) will be your highest grade, the second will be lower and the final will be even lower. Suggestion: Do not take his class. He is just collecting a pay check. No Compassion at ALL!
if the TAs didnt take attendance in this class of 200 people, i would never go. His lectures are a joke because he rants on for an hour about current events that have nothing to do with the material we are supposed to cover. We take literally no notes and hes incredible bias and rude. Ive learned nothing and I hate this class.
Prof. Conley does a great job of interweaving current events and relevant topics into the content of the class, something most teachers tend to avoid. He sets clear expectations and is always more than willing to help his students with any questions or concerns. I've had him for 4 classes now and I can easily say he's hands down one of the best.
Seriously disappointed by this class. He doesn't really teach what we will be tested on. I practically had to teach myself from the book and I still didn't get good grade. DO NOT TAKE IT.
Very disappointed in the professor. He spoke more about his personal views than what is on the exams. He never mentioned what we need to know for the exams. I received all A's in my other courses and obviously not in this course. Some people learn better by hearing the information rather than sit and read a textbook over and over for hours.
Absolutely horrible professor! Rants on about own beliefs and not information for class or exams. Never posts slides. Doesnt use sakai. Useless study guides. Useless to read book because exams are based on his random comments not related to class info. Mandatory attendance. Tests on amendment numbers not info! Subjective! Avoid at all costs
One of the worst classes available in the college. The professor was incompetent in removing his bias from the course, rarely went over the notes, and was infuriatingly ignorant when he wasn't outright dull. You will leave this class with partisan propaganda and little knowledge of the actual subject matter.
Conley does a spectacular job with this course! The lectures are mandatory, but they are worth attending. He is an entertaining and engaging lecturer. We hardly ever used the textbooks and you can get by with just looking it over. While there are only a few assignments, it should be fairly easy to make a decent grade.
Don't take a class with him if you can help it. He is a nice man who clearly loves his subject, but he spends little time in class on topic. In our 2 hour block, we talk about the New York Times for half the class and about the reading for 15-20 minutes. It's not worth it, there are few grades, and you don't learn much.
Awful. I took the online portion. He would have a hissy fit anytime I emailed him a question and then respond with an arrogant answer. He frequently got mad at our class when we emailed him simple questions. You don't learn much and he isn't very helpful considering he is always trying to convince you why he was right and you are wrong.
I took his class online and every email he sent the class the whole semester was extremely rude. He refuses to answer questions and gets annoyed easily. However the weekly work is simple and the class is an easy A if you do the work. However the grader for the online class failed to give substantial feedback, and it's impossible to argue your grade
I love politics, but hate this online course. Instructor Conley is terrible. He is rude and is very picky when it comes to grammar. The instructions for his assignments were very confusing and burdensome. I had a two page paper due almost weekly. Does not give study guides. His power points are not very good. Don't take this course.
As great as an intro. online course sounds to a UF student, do NOT take this class if you have other demanding activities/courses. I am an English major, and I was reading as much in this class as my upper-division major courses. The amount of busy-work is ABSURD. He has a rude demeanor, and won't be bothered with your questions. Pick a diff. prof.
He was very rude and his lectures are boring. If you need any sort of accommodations, forget it.
This professor was very unclear with directions when it came to assignments. When I asked about my grade on a specific assignment he pointed me to the syllabus. When I found no answer there I repeated my inquiry to which he didn't respond. He is extremely picky when it comes to grammar and is conceited.
he doesn't take attendance. there is no structure to the class. he is super nice though
Great Professor, gets a bad rep because he's a conservative in liberal-ville USA. Very caring of student's success. Very entertaining lectures and fair grader. If you show up, participate and simple listen to what he has to say, you will get an A.
Conley is a strict professor. His class consists of a significant amount of reading and some test questions are intensely specific. He sets clear standards and there are no surprises, so putting in the work guarantees an A. His lectures and materials are clear and organized. Don't ask questions, you will get poor, non-response, sarcastic answers.
In POS2041 online, you will need to do all of the reading. This includes the "reader" that is additional to the textbook. This is a basic class but it can present difficulties, especially during the exams. The exams cover material from every source, so be sure to watch the lectures as well.
Papers and discussion post due every single week. It doesn't matter if you know the whole Constitution for that exam either because he asks questions that are next to impossible. Highly don't recommend. Reading and taking good notes and watching every lecture should pay off, but not with this prof. Wish I could drop it and take with someone else.
Don't take classes with Conley. I get it, Irish Gov & Politics sounds fascinating. It should because it's a fascinating subject. Just not when Conley is teaching it. No tests, no quizzes, no notes, no real lectures. We watched 3 Irish movies. One big paper is your only grade and you'll never know why you didn't get an A. Don't take his class.
He is very conservative and that's why people don't like him. Tough grader on essays but online quizzes are very easy.
This is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. Aside from their bias that is evident throughout the entire course, he was extremely disrespectful and did not teach in any capacity. Every attempt to email or message him was met with a sarcastic and rude reply. I would not recommend this teacher to any student. I would rate 0 if possible.
I was surprised to see all of these negative reviews. I took The Presidency Fall 2020. He was EXTREMELY accommodating to COVID ended up extending every deadline. Grading was based on participation (very lenient) and 3 papers. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Interesting lectures, current event focused. Funny dude. My fav professor at UF so far!
Dr. Conley is a good professor. Lectures were interesting though he tends to rant quite often. I would not call this professor very conservative, but he is Lib-Right and I disagree with him on nearly everything which made a lot of his lectures thought-provoking and captivating, especially with Native American Politics.
I've seen a lot of reviews saying he was super biased and I didn't really see that in class. At the beginning he definitely prefaced that he was conservative but that was it. The Lowi textbook is REALLY important cause everything from the tests are from that but the other textbook was a waste. He gives study guides for the exams that really help.
Dr. Conley genuinely cares about The Presidency and politics in general. He is a definite conservative and not afraid to talk about, so if this bothers you don't take the class. He lectures the whole class every session, so be ready for that. He really only has 3 main graded essays and was very accommodating about due dates, takes forever to grade.
Very hypocritical professor. Misses 12 days of class, then tells us to understand his situation. But when we miss class and cite family issues with verifiable evidence, he doesn't care. Only around 30 minutes of a 120-minute lecture is actually substantive material that you can learn and pick up, the other is tangent-filled nonsense.
Hands down one of the worst professors I've ever had. Cancels class virtually ever week and is forced to extend due dates because he was not in class to teach anything. His "lectures" are just two hours of him going on a political tangent, and he's often rude when responding to emails. That being said an A is pretty attainable if you do the work.
Dr. Conley is a great professor. He definitely is conservative but does not deduct points or treat you differently if you are not, as some of the more liberal professors do. He is moderately understanding although he does not really show up to class every time. Overall the class is pretty interesting and he is knowledgeable about the presidency.
I was worried reading the previous reviews but he is super cool. He likes to talk about current events and keeps lectures interesting. Yes, he is conservative but treats everyone the same. He seems tough at first but is actually really chill. Yes, he cancels class and puts it on Zoom 50% of the time, but to me that's a good thing. Overall 5/5.
Conley is the man- anyone who gives him a bad review is probably a salty liberal. A refreshing conservative voice but grades fair for everyone.
Professor Conley is the best. I took three of his classes so I could have him again. He grades very fairly, and is considerate of the needs of all students. He is very funny and personable. He even invited my class to a Native American site where he lives to learn in a hands on way and cooked for us. He is a wonderful person and professor!
First class thoughts. If the rest of the semester is like today, I urge you not to take this prof. He still hasn't released the Canvas and rambled about various different things that came to his mind throughout the lecture, mostly off topic. Also HUGE CONSERVATIVE and you'll know. Disorganized, but does seem pretty lenient when it comes to papers.
DON'T DO IT! He's a nice guy, but this was the most useless waste of time & money I've ever spent. You won't learn, class will be canceled every other day, assignments are not explained but take so much effort, and he didn't take the course seriously at all. All you'll learn about are his conservative beliefs.
I do not recommend classes with this professor. With frequently cancelled classes, and tangential, unhelpful lectures, you will be teaching yourself the course material and wasting your time in the classroom. I have been a student at UF for almost two years now. Richard Conley is the worst professor I have had at this university.
Do not take this professor. Easily the worst one I had in my years at UF. Does not teach, class is a waste of time. Extremely rude and condescending in his correspondence with students. Overall a waste of time.
This is the worst class I have taken at UF. Professor Conley is nice in class and knowledgeable but does not teach. I taught myself everything, and on the few assignments we do have, he is a harsh grader. I would not recommend this class to anyone. Impossible to succeed with his teaching methods.
Extremely rude to students over email but nice in person, doesn't teach AT ALL, cancels literally half of classes. 2 essays and attendance the entire grade for the whole semester, but he doesn't take attendance and makes up your grade. Save yourself and NEVER take this professor. Woke up everyday and wanted to cry when I remembered I was in this.
Because the semester is about to start, I decided to come back and remind you all not to take this professor.... seriously. He just makes grades up... I am saying this and I got an A
Ranted the whole 2 hours on the first day of class, will be dropping asap.
Professor Conley cancels classes consistently but grades participation randomly throughout the semester. He only gives 2-3 papers/tests throughout the semester and is very rude and harsh on grading. His lectures are him rambling with no presentations or slides but expects you to recall it on exams. Don't take this class.
His assignments are actually pretty thought provoking, but his lectures are unfortunate. If he doesn't cancel class, he rants for most of the time. Provocatively opinionated, which by itself is at most just annoying. The problem is that's all you end up learning from him that you don't learn from the book. Take with another prof if possible.
