Very easy as long as you do the objectives, and attend class regularly. Has alot of quizzes but grades fairly. Interesting to listen to but talks about sex and alcohol a little too much.
Even at 730 in the morning he kept the class interesting. Good lecturer and he knows what he is talking about

This class is very interesting if you are into psychology. There are a lot of quizzes, but he grades fairly.
AWESOME Teacher! Take Crandall if you want to learn psychology! He explains well and grades fairly, he gives study guides for exams and gives weekly quizes with multiple choice and true and false questions. Only teaches one early morning class! Best college teacher I have had so far!
Your grade is based on a short group presentation, about 11 quizzes, and 3 exams. Quizzes and exams contain mostly multiple choice and true/false questions. 2 exams cover specific material and the last is a cumulative final. A list of 8-10 essay questions is provided in advance for each exam, of which about 4 will be chosen. Extra credit is given.
Made me change my major. He's extremely enthusiastic and is totally willing to help you out in any way possible. He teaches in lectures, but if you follow along in the book you should be fine. Everything clicks in your head once he explains. He also reviews the material that's on your finals!
exams are short essay questions, true or false questions...also gives you quizzes; true or false answers. he's a very good in this subject, great personality, and a very kind hearted person
I despise psychology, and although it was all I could do not to fall asleep in the classes (his lectures can be tedious-- at best), I had the second highest grade without studying more than an hour or so before the midterms/finals. His class is relatively easy if you just take lecture notes, but it's such a bore you might never want to show up.
Please listen to my advice, only take this class if you really love reading and note-taking. Mr.Crandall is a nice guy but sometimes his way of explaining things is very uncomprehensive. I honestly had a hard time. I don't know if I would recommend him.
i really liked prof crandell, he was very engaging and had some witty and funny things to say during class. seems like he really knows his stuff. there are mini challenges every week, exams are multiple choice/True false and short essay. answer the essay q's before hand to prepare.
Prof. Crandall is a great professor that teaches very well. If you attend class you will not have a problem. has weekly quizzes but are not hard at all. if you put in a decent amount of time, you will get a good grade. He also adjusts the final point total at the end of the semester making it easier to get an A. good luck!
Very nice teacher BUT I found it hard to get an A in that class. He doesn't really tell you exactly what to study which could be helpful, and I found myself bored and most of the time lost.
Awesome teacher! Very weird, but he makes class interesting. Gets students invovled, so if you are shy, don't take his class. Easy class, if you are into psychology. If your not interested in psychology, he will catch your interest. My favorite teacher of my freshmen year.
very unreasonable! i wouldn't take him...knows his stuff but very confusing to follow along. BAD TEACHER overall. wouldn't reccomend to people who actually want to learn and understand.
I loved his class! He's a litle quirky but it's kind of funny. You can tell he loves psychology and uses a lot of everyday examples to explain things. I thought it was really easy. He gives you study guides and the essay questions prior to exams... how much easier does it get... If you don't mind quirky I'd absolutely recommend taking this class!
He is the best teacher. I learned so much from him. His lectures are awesome. Just read the book and go to class. He pretty much goes over everything that's in the challenges prior to taking it. He's also a bit kooky and funny. I would highly recommend his class, to bad he doesn't teach 240.
Prof. Crandall is very knowledgable and excited about psychology. You need to buy the book - his 'concept cluster' class notes can be confusing and the book is the only thing you can fall back on. He's a good teacher but you will have to work to get an A - even with the final curve at the end.
Very thorough and explains things very well. He is excited to teach and I really learned a lot.
Very clear with his lectures. Just come to class everyday & you'll get an easy A. Quizzes every week but he gives study guides. 2-3 midterms & he also gives study guides. One cumulative final exam & also gives study guides. Multiple choice, T/F, & essay questions for the midterm & the final exam.
Gives study guides and concept clusters for all quizzes,mid-terms, and the final. Also gives you sample essay questions that will be on the final and mid-terms.
Great teacher. Will help if you go to him. Quizzes and tests are easy if you go to class and actually read. He also gives you something like a study guide before every quiz and test and just make sure you know the answers to that study guide and it will be a breeze.
He's kind of weird, but he is nice and very knowledgeable. His class was very easy and fun :) he's helpful with anatomy too.
He's great. Easy class. Gives you study guides for quizzes and exams. Very helpful
I took his 7:30 class and even in the early morning he keeps the class awake with is youthful vibe. He knows what hes talking about and gives you objectives+study guides before you take the challenges (weekly test) and midterm/final. You need the book and if you study and take good notes, you will pass. Highly recommened
One of my favorite professors that i've ever had. Not only is he very clear in his teachings, but he is fun. He is always happy and has a positive attitude every class. The subject is easy as long as you listen. Just make sure you use the study guides wisely and, this is MY TIP, read the homework pages...It makes getting an A 100x easier. (serious)
He's a great instructor! Take notes and listen. Simple.
Mr. Crandall is very easy to listen to. He keeps you interested in the topic and tries his best to use everyday situations to apply to the material. Just read the required readings, pay attention to his lecture and you will do fine.
His lectures are always fun and interesting, I'd definitely recommend this course!
Crandall is a very good professor. Always worth going to class. He likes to sit us in a circle and have discussions on the topic for the day. Would call on you just to hear your voice and contribute to discusion
Dr Crandall is a great teacher. I loved his classes despite that I miss sleep to attend the 7:30am class it's worth it. He is definitely a good & perfect choice for Psy 100.
Funny Teacher.Tests/Quiz are easy, straight from class notes. Exams are fairly easy too. Overall, a good professor.
Unfair, unclear and overall bad quality. I wonder how he continues to get the good ratings.
His methods of teaching is very unique, which correlates with his personality. Hes very kooky, but very understandable. He explained the material extremely well... I would recommend him to everyone! :)
Very good teacher. There are quizzes every week that help you increase your grade. Two middle term exams and one final. I recommend his class!
He's really funny and quirky. And he relates things to real life, which really helps. As long as you read the assignments and attend class to take notes, you'll be fine. Attendance isn't mandatory though, but highly recommended.
I was interested in psych until I took crandall. He was confusing in lectures and jumped topic to topic randomly. Lectures/notes were hard to follow. His teaching is poor. He helps some figure out the right answer by giving them clues and some he jst says "wrong, too bad" and moves on. Some test questions werent covered in class. book is necessary
psychoogy isnt the most interesting subject but I learned a lot. Crandall is a good teacher, has good teaching methods
Crandall gives a study guide before each test. As long as you read the book, go to class, take notes, and complete the study guides, you can ace this class. Class is lecture-based and Crandall explains well. Quizzes are given every week to week and a half. Essay, t/f & multiple choice on tests.
Crandall makes this class fun. His examples make me laugh and help me associate the text with real life. Loved his class!
Pros - helpful, study guides, sticks to his schedule, never misses class, sticks to the textbook, and is very nice. Reminds me of a sweet old grandpa Cons - he talks very soft and his lectures are kinda boring. oh so many peaceful sleeps in his cold classroom. so many classes that i did not attend. tests are very... unclear. a lot of t/f questions
Prof Crandall is a really nice professor! He genuinely makes an effort to get to know each student. His lectures get boring, but if you pay attention and follow along you'll do fine. Quiz almost once every two weeks but all T/F and multiple choice. DONT BUY THE BOOK.
I enjoyed his course, he can be unclear and hard to understand but if you ask him, he's willing to clear it up for you. "Challenges" are every 2 weeks or so.. his questions are a bit tricky. If you expect this class to be an easy A then don't take him. He really loves what he's teaching, and I learned A LOT from this class. Buy the book!!
I was really excited for this class but I was very disappointed after the second and third class. He makes the first class sound so easy that it is very easy to stick with the class. But I hated this class. I could not enjoy it. It was a CRAZY amount of reading. Homework was so much that I had to drop the class.. I really hope this helps!
Crandall is a great instructor! Only assignments are reading to prepare for the next class. "Challenges" are multiple choice, and midterms too with a couple of essay questions that he gives you beforehand. If you show up to class and listen to his lectures, you will pass the challenges and tests. He likes to see his students succeed. RECOMMEND!
All around good professor. Quirky kind of guy and somewhat funny guy. There isn't any homework, just tests. So just take notes during the lectures and go over the study guides he posts online. One big exam at the end of the semester which covers all the material you learned in class. So just review your notes. Book is mandatory for studying.
He is very nice and quirky. He has jokes here in there in his lectures. No homework, just tests - small ones every two weeks and a midterm and final. Take notes during the lectures and STUDY THE STUDY GUIDES, they should be online. Must the book. READ AND STUDY! He has a sign in sheet.
His teaching style is a bit on the odler side. He is a great person, who could use some teaching skills. If you pay attention in class and ask questions though he will try and clarify. His one on ones are great if you are feeling lost. Read the book, ask questions, and write down notes and class is actually easy. He is very lenient on his grading.
Crandall is a great professor! He sends study guides for the quizzes, midterms, and exams. If you do not understand something part of the lecture or why you got a question wrong on a test, he explains it with clarity.
Professor Crandall is an extremely good professor. His lectures are interesting and engaging. Weekly quizzes and 3 exams. Go to class and pay attention and you'll do well in the class. Hubba bubba.
His classes are lecture based, not straight out of the book so going to class is a must! He always sends a study guide before any test, including mid terms and final. He REALLY knows his stuff, very intelligent, encourages questions or comments. I would definitely take him again, excellent professor! (Buy the book, you will need it!)
Very nice gentleman,I enjoyed his class and still remember lots of stuff from his classes because of his demonstrations! Take him!
Professor Crandall is extremely organized and stays 100% on track with the schedule in the syllabus. It was refreshing to take a class where the teacher actually knew what he was talking about and taught in a way that was understandable. Take him and if you complete the optional study guide for each quiz that he gives you you'll most likely get a A
Learned so much in this class, don't regret. It is the best class to learn psychology, period.
Professor Crandall is such a gentleman and one of my favorite professors so far. His lectures are easy to understand and engaging and I was always interested in what i was learning. Don't skip class because his quizzes and exams are mostly lecture based. I would recommend buying the book because it helped me so much when I was studying.
Really enjoyed his class. Tests are often, but he clearly explains what will be on the test. He takes the time to know every students name, which is pretty cool. Show up to class and pay attention and you will do great.
Crandall is one of those teachers you can tell enjoys teaching for the students. As long as you attend his lectures and take notes, reading the book isn't really necessary. Other than reading, there's no homework or papers, but be prepared for weekly quizzes! Definitely one of the more entertaining lecturers in my experience in Hawaii's CCs.
Sets up a clear schedule for what will be talked about in class and when quizzes and exams will be.
His lectures can get boring at times but if you pay attention and take notes the textbook isn't really necessary. Very clear on what he expects of the students and what the class will consist of. Some of the tests may seem overwhelming but he gives you all the materials you need to succeed.
He's a great teacher. He's really enthusiastic about teaching and tries to give examples during lectures to make topics/subjects relatable. He gives students a schedule for the entire semester of what we do for each class, including the dates for tests and quizzes. And he gives study guides before every test. He actually wants students to learn
I personally really liked his class. Yes, sometimes it was boring but the topic is interesting and you can tell he likes to teach and likes psychology. Just show up and take notes and you're good! (his notes can be disorganized tho) Sometimes he speaks a little low and will ramble on, but he always uses great examples & videos in class. Worth it.
Crandall is an exceptional psychology professor. He sets everything up for success. He has very clear study guides for his quizzes, and his test questions are normally on the study guide. He understands that life happens and will help you. He is passionate about psychology and very easy to follow. Sit in the front if you can!
good professor. he knows what he's talking about and teaching. no homework but tests every week. if u study u can definitely get an A in the class. everything he teaches is on the tests just need to pay attention he talks soft sometimes. all in all great class and professor!!
He is hilarious and a great professor! You just need to pay attention in class, turn your cell phone off and engage with what he talks about. No homework just study guides and quizzes and exams! Definitely use the study guides he provides because this will help a lot!! Would take him again!!
Having a class that was not into his lectures made the environment very unpleasant. If this was a more lively and interactive class I believe I would have taken more out of it. Also, being a fast paced class is something I have not had in a long time so it took a while to adjust to the class.
Professor Crandall was a great Psychology teacher, I learned all the basics of Psychology and a few extra bits of knowledge he would throw out there. The class isn't overly hard as long as you show up and he is a very fair grader when it came to our quizzes and finals. I would definitely recommend his class to anyone interested in Psych.
Sit in the front if you really want to learn, he talks a bit soft sometimes. You really have to read the readings if you want to understand what you're learning and to prepare for the quizzes or "challenges" he gives almost every week. You get a lot out of this class if you stay engaged with the lectures and come to class.
Professor Crandall is an alright teacher. He's only has lectures. His grading system is based on you coming to class and his quizzes, no projects, no group work, nothing. His class was boring only because we hardly interacted, you just sit there listen to him speak and take notes every once in a while and do his quizzes, that's really it.
Crandall is a wonderful professor. Prior to his class, I had no interest in psychology. I was strictly taking it for preparation of the MCAT, but am so glad I was able to experience his class. Hes very knowledged in the field of psychology, but what makes his class even more enjoyable is he genuinely cares for his students, and allows discussions.
Gives your grades for quizzes exams very quickly and inserts them into Laulima so you can calculate your grade. Very clear schedule that he follows throughout the semester. The only thing I didn't like about this class was that you never knew what you got wrong on the exams unless you went to his office. No tech used so be prepared to write.
Nice guy, very knowledgable but his class is very lecture heavy and lecture based. I had a hard time following/focusing because literally all you do is listen to him talk and watch a video here and there, no other interaction. It gets boring very fast. Sit in the front as he is a soft speaker at times. Keep up with the readings.
Crandall has been my favorite teacher so far! He is a great guy who knows a lot about the subject. As long as you pay attention in class and get the basics of what he is saying you're good. I barely read the textbook and I'm riding on an A in his class.
Don't worry about printing out the text book, his lectures cover all of the material. Study/complete the chapter objectives, you should be good. Prof Crandall cares about the success of his students and loves when they ask questions/participate in class discussion. Got an A in this class, super simple. Sit in the front if you can, he speaks softly.
It seems scary at first but the class is actually really easy. Highly recommended
I highly suggest anyone to take his class! He is so awesome with keeping his lectures real and fun! No textbook needed, its online which is great.
Heads up, no tech allowed, everything is paper. Lectures were always fun and engaging. I enjoyed his classes and definitely learned a lot! Also was very proud on how he transitioned to online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I definitely would take this class again. Just listen, take lots of notes and be willing to learn.
It's been a couple years since I took his class, but professor Crandall is one of the most memorable professors. He knows psychology, and I found his lectures easy to follow. I came out of this course knowing a whole lot of new concepts, but also with a new passion for psychology. He's the reason why I want to double major in psych and CS. Take him
nice guy, mult. choice quizzes every week. exams every 5ish chapters (mult. choice). I took his class completely online and he posts video lectures on Laulima which is useful. He also posts objectives for each module. Textbook is free and no homework besides reading. just need to know the concepts, easier than taking AP psych in HS in my opinion
Professor Crandall was a great instructor during this pandemic of online classes. The recorded lectures that he posted prior to tests are useful to take notes on. He enjoys a lively class especially on zoom, and also enjoys it when students participate in the call. Interesting instructor who's passionate about teaching PSY100!
Professor Crandall's class involves a lot of reading and listening to lectures. His course calendar and syllabus are very clear and precise. If you're struggling reach out to him, he is kind and willing to help. If you listen in class and study the quizzes are easy. He likes an engaging class and wants everyone to participate in discussions.
I have many great things to say about Professor Crandall, he is such a sweet prof and makes learning fun. I am sad to move on and have to get a new professor for my next psych classes. I highly recommend this class! There are many lectures, he makes them interesting, and fun to listen to. He is easy to contact for help and will respond.
He is such a sweet soul. He got me passionate about psychology. He loves discussion so please discuss with him! His "challenges" are easy, everything is from the posted modules and his in class lectures. He is wonderful. He posts lectures twice a week, so don't try to do it all at once! Listen to the lectures a few times and you'll get an A.
He is awesome and sweet. Each zoom meeting he reviews what we were supposed to read for homework. Every week he uploads 40 minute lecture videos of him speaking about each unit. You also need to read from a free online textbook that he assigns (I never read it but I still passed his quizzes) Quizzes are easy if you listened in class and took notes
Psychology class will make you a critical thinker and that's what Prof. Crandall will mold you in his class. We meet twice a week via Zoom of him reviewing module video lectures he post a week before. He will try to have everyone be involved in class participation. Just watch the videos and read chapters and you'll do fine with weekly quizzes.
very kind and willing to be there for you. clearly passionate about what he does.
Professor Crandall cares about his students. Lectures can get boring but that also depends on how interactive your class is. There is weekly quizzes (challenges), 2 midterms and a final that is 150 questions. Pay attention or else you won't do well. No extra credit and he does not round grades.
