He is a really, really, really,... good teacher.
His tests are difficult but his lecture is good.
His tests are very hard and his lectures are the most boring lectures on this planet...worst than his wife dr Larson
helpful teacher but really hard. the most difficult class i had ever taken in foothill.
This is an interesting and challenging class. Dr. Daley is very helpful. Tests are exeptionally hard. Approximately 44% of students received a failing grade or dropped the class.
I really enjoyed his class!! He was really helpful during the office hours.
Fabulous lecturer and a brilliant man. People think he's hard because they can't do basic algebra. But if you do homework, you will pass.
He is hard. If you need an A, Don't take him. But it's okay class. This class is reasonably hard.
Great personality, fun class, BUT tough tests. You will find that his explanation of math in problems is hard to understand. Tests are very tough with no cheat sheets, no extra credit, no nonsense. Take this guy as a last resort.
he is a great professor.. He answer the question very well. But, the material is hard.
Fun teacher, helpful and fair. The material is difficult, you won't get away with slacking off. Good coverage of material if transferring for pre-med or advanced science degree.
Very difficult tests that cover every single detail. The notes he provides are nice but you'll need to memorize them to do well on the midterms. At least the lab makes up 40% of your grade, and it's easy to get an A in lab.
This is not an easy class, but if you study hard--very hard--you can do well. Dr. D. is very helpful, even though his tests are tough. You can't slack off here.
Yes, I agree that he is hard. But if you study really hard, you can get an A in his class. Besides, you have the option not to take the final.. it's really generous I think.. take his class if ur willing to study hard and it's worth it
Very clear and helpful. Be careful as the tests are hard, but if you study and know the material there should be no problems. He always responds clearly to all questions. Also I feel that he was very through with his teaching, after taking his class I have a very concrete understanding of chem.
Wow! Hard! Very good instructor though, he cares and wants the students who are motivated to succeed! I'm behind in math but work really hard and might get up to an A.
His class is not as hard as people think cause I got an A easily. Very nice and clear lecture, I learned lots of things from him.
People often whine about how Dr. D's tests are hard, but if you do the reading and listen in class, they're not that bad. I learned a lot in that class.
i think most the people here that say hes easy are the top 10% of his class. about 70% of the class fails. class average when i took the class was about 40% which is failing. does not curve. tests are all 25 multiple choice q's and 10 free response. which are very hard.
Tests and lab tests are very thorough, but he teaches materials well and makes sure you get it. Tests and lab grade are the only things that count for the final grade.
great teacher, but hard. he was very helpful. highly recommended.
Yes.. he is really hard. But he is really funny. His class never be bored. but exams are super hard. if you study half an hour and try to get A. don't take him. even though i study 8hrs per exam... i never go up 90%
He is a nice teacher, however, the exam is pretty hard. He tests you every single detail from the book and lecture notes. Be sure you fully understand the concept, not 99% but 100%, if you want to get an A. Usually, at least half of the class can't get through.
His exam is really challenging, and he doesn't curve, if you want to find a easy instructor, then i don't recommend you. However, besides that, he is pretty nice.
Gets tougher each quarter.....even the smartest students can't always finish the exams. He seems to almost gloat on making students feel demoralized. I love chemistry, but it's hard to stay dedicated when the professor makes it so difficult to succeed. I study 10 times more for this class than any other and i still can't get an A.
He gets more credit than he deserves. He answers your questions with a one-liner, with no explanation. Slideshow, so you have no idea what concepts are important vs. what's not. He aims to take off major points for insiginificant errors (going from an A to a B for sig figs.) Inconvenient office hours. Contradicts book a lot. Overall, don't take him.
Dr. Daley is not an easy grader for sure, but you will still like him no matter what you get from his class--he is funny, helpful and knowledgeable. If you are major in science and you really want to learn chemistry, then he is definitely the best choice at Foothill College; if you want to raise your GPA, then choose another professor.
I was hesistant to take his class reading the prior comments. After taking his class, it wasn't so bad. He is definitely one of the toughest teachers I've taken. However, the fact that he is so articulate in explaining everything makes it easier to comprehend. Without paying attention in class, I studied roughly 5 hours a test and managed to pass.
My friend may drop from this course because he got into a car accident where my friend got injured. Yet, this teacher has no feeling for such situations and refused to let my friend make up the test. It is sad on how the educational system has come to be. Isn't the purpose of school to learn? Not battle bad luck. He has hard test are poor teaching.
He talks very fast, and you have to pay extra attention to what he says. If you are majored in chem or science, you should take his class to build strog background. You have to study very very hard to get good grade from him, but you will learn a lots! Easy A, do not care what you learn,DO NOT take him!
Generally, I like Dr. Daley's class. (At beginning I didn't like it much but gradually I love the lecture after realizing how much info I am receiving.) He makes sure you learn what you need to know as preparation for the future career/class. His exam is VERY conceptial though, which made it hard to get A. Don't take it if you want easy A.
People need to study "hard" to survive Dr.Daley's class. He only gives 1 or 2 A for the entire class. People learn a lots from suffering and he prepares you well for the next classes.
I have a 4.0 GPA and think I'm a pretty good judge of teachers. Overall, Daley is cocky and condescending. Sure, he's very intelligent but he's not a good teacher.
Dr. Daley's tests are quite hard,5+ pgs of mostly "tricky" problems in ~2 hours w/only 1or2 people finishing early was standard. His goodnaturedness and eccentricity make for a relatively enjoyable lecture. In lab he is GREAT-it's a very low-stress environment compared w/ other chem teachers. If u are earnestly interested in chemistry,I recommend him.
i think Dr. Daley is a very good teacher.he's so clear and he really prepares before class.he is also a very nice person and willing to help. His tests, however, aren't that easy.. but well, as long as u really know what u're studying u'll survive..u arent studying the real chem until u take his class.. highly recommended for chem lovers
Dr. Daley is a great teacher with a vast knowledge of Chem. He is also available too. But, his class is not easy. You have to work hard to pass his class. His exams are hard too. But, as long as you do your assigned problems, you are in good shape.
HARD! NO MERCY!
Dr.Daley is one of the most efficient teachers in Foothill. His lecture is the best lecture in the college. He is very knowlegeable in Chem and can explain each concept without leaving his students in confused state. He is always available to help his students and very happy to work with his students. Eventhough his exams are hard, he is very nice.
Took 1A with him. Great teacher, he knows his stuff and is efficient in teaching it and moving through the tons of materical covered. Tests were challenging, but not impossible if you read (I recommend doing the study guide problems too). If you want to really learn chemistry take Daley. Great lab teacher too.
Well, I'm not a good student in his class, but I must admit that he is a good teacher ^^. Lab intructions are so clear and helpful (given that you read them before doing labs). Be careful with quizzes and exams. They will make you mad ><
he's got the best laugh. tremendously organized, so it's easy to stay ahead. not too demanding in terms of homework, and the lab reports, though challenging, aren't tedious or anything. he's a little sarcastic, but i all the math/science guys are huh? ocd about the notebook but come on, it's so simple. basically: great guy, great teacher.
Dr Daley is an excelent teacher. His class is very challenging, maybe if you take it somewhere else, you'll get a better grader. However, I don't think you will learn as much as you do with him. Again, he really challenges you, but you will be well prepared for your other chem courses.
he's a great professor. he really takes the concepts to another level with challenging questions that really push you to master the material. he's very tough but after his class you'll know the matrial inside and out
Awsome teacher!!!! I really reccomend him especially if chem isn't ur major
Very good teacher. One of the best science teachers I've had. You learn a lott! Hard tests but you have to study hard and do all the homework. Do all the homework and study his lecture notes and ull be fine. I ended up with a B. He also tries to help raise everyones grades by a lot too.
Very nice instructor. Explain chemistry in an easy way
BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER ON EARTH!!!humorous, understanding, helpful...drops LOTS of hints of what is to be tested..tests of acceptable, if not easy, standard...
He is clear, engaging an funny. Tests can be hard but they really bring your understanding of the material to the next level. Highly recommend if you need the material down the road...if you just want an easy course find somebody else.
I had to work extremly hard just to get a B in his class! phew, it exhausts u, but maybe tats cause im dumb in math. He's overall EXTREMELY willing to help in office hours, n u REALLY get to knw the material in and out. he makes sure of that! But dont take him in a loaded quarter, with that much studyin its hard to get a good grade. grading fair.
Dr. Daley is a very smart professor and can answer any questions you have. He is always willing to help and explains things very well. The test are tough but as long as you do the homework and study, they are not bad. If you really want to learn about chem, take him because you'll definitely learn a lot.
I can't believe how many ppl like this guy. Smart hard to undestand. He also is not very helpful (he tries but usually doesn't understand your questions or answers above your head). Extremely hard tests. I was top of the class in 1A but had to drop his class because I was failing. I wasn't the only one either about 1/3 class fails
Lectures are helpful but can be boring so pay attention. Lab and Lecture exams (total of 5) are crazy hard; he likes to draw out the A students from Bs. Online hw is very tedious, so don't lag. Overall class is really challenging but informational. He's very knowledgeable.
Dr. daley is a great teacher. his lectures are clear, fast paced, and has a great way of explaining concepts/ getting ideas across. he is also very approachable, friendly, and SERIOUSLY knows his stuff. his tests ARE a little on the tough side, so if you just want the grade, he is not a good choice. but if you want to learn... =D
Dr. Daley is a bore. Unless you are already a chemistry genius take someone else. His wife sub'd for him a few times... Dr. Larson. She made sense when she lectured and didn't laugh at herself the entire way through. Dr. Daley doesn't explain things well. He lectures off of powerpoint... that shows how lazy he is.
hes an awesome teacher. one of my favorite teachers this year. go to his office hours really helpful and go to class his lectures helps you understand the materials a lot more
He's always laughing at everything XD. He teaches good enough, but chem is over my head most of the time anyway. Chem 1c is easy peasy compared to 1b though. MY FIRST SMART TEACHER OMG I LOVE HIM.
Highly recommend Dr.Daley. The class is very tough and will want to make you cry at times. However, if you do all the assignments and study for the very hard exams, you can crawl trough the class with a C. He is very fair and allows a ton of time for the exams. Do not lag on the homework(tons of extra credit) and labs, those save your grade.
Honestly, Dr.Daley is the best chem teacher I have ever had. He is really smart and his lectures are crystal clear. His tests can get a little bit tricky, so make sure you learn all the materials very well. Regular attendance is mandatory. Bottom line, take his class and you won't regret it :)
This class was very hard. Daley is a tough grader. He is clear and tries to help out kids, but sometimes his humor and jokes makes it embarrassing to ask him anything. If you want a challenge, Daley is the teacher for you.
Dr. Daley really does know his material and if you ask questions he's always more than willing to help, great teach overall isn't the easiest, however, made chemistry enjoyable. Stay on top of your work and you'll do just fine. He curved two of our midterms and that really did help with our grades. Go to lecture and you'll definitely learn.
Extremely clear and likable as a person. His tests are hard and usually pretty tricky. Goes beyond the book (in a good way). Makes chemistry fun!
Though his class may be demanding, Prof. Daley is quite nice and helpful. He maintains an awesome website and is generally nice. He is a bit sarcastic, which isn't always nice. Overall he is a good prof and he will be able to teach you a lot.He does leave out units and sees if you know the answer, sometimes is a bit weird.
He is the best chemistry teacher I have ever had! Knowledgeable, kind, understanding, helpful, clear and precise! He makes learning chemistry fun! Lectures are amazingly helpful and NOT BORING! he knows the stuff! I really enjoyed his class. Thank you sir.
Extremely hard when it comes to tests. A good 25% got A's and I dont understand how. Got a B and tried really hard. Labs graded by a grader, grades really hard on post labs(always include units) and easy on prelabs. Fair on homework not a lot at once. Really good teacher, learned a lot. By far favorite out of three general chem classes.
Daley is a very good teacher. I found him helpful in every part of the course, including office hours, labs, lectures, and website materials. Despite the myth, not all college teachers are particularly bright. Daley seems to be one of the bright college teachers. I found some topics in Chem 1C unusually difficult.
Amazing teacher! He teaches every concept very clearly, and a lot better than the book teaches it.
He's a really good teacher however, his test are ridiculous! If you are a bad test taker then I suggest you not to take him.
greatest teacher ever. Insanely helpful, but also very difficult. Take him you'll learn more then you could have ever imagined
The only thing that is difficult about his class are the tests. You may learn a lot, which is good, but you need a good grade to move on. Pretty strict on attending lab, but not really lectures. I would recommend him if you already have a good background in chemistry. If not, you have to work super super super hard to get an A.
Dr Daley is awesome, he's a really good person and very knowledgeable but he is EXTREMELY difficult. His tests are impossibly hard. Labs are easy and he's a very helpful person if you go to his office hours. Consider this a warning.
Tests weren't that bad, you just have to put in the effort to do practice problems and be ready for them. His lectures are super boring, but he is a good lab teacher. He's also a pretty nice guy so don't be afraid to ask him questions!
Lab: Takes his sweet time lecturing the procedure but is very clear. Gives quizzes with stuff done in the labs. Drops one lab and quiz score. Lecture: Class is not mandatory to attend, but recommended. Gives plenty of examples problems. Tests are fair and cover all the stuff he covered in lecture and are curved if the class didn't do that well.
Greatest Professor Ever! Makes you actually think about a question by yourself and understand the concept. You don't need to read the book since his lecture is so clear.
you don't need the textbook for his class! Other than that Dr. D is patient in his lectures, and always willing to help. The best thing about his class is that he makes you think about chemistry outside of the class, and really makes chemistry interesting and relatable. Tests are fair, if youre taking 1B the subject is hard, not Dr.D. He's great.
Dr. Daley is THE MOST knowledgeable science teacher I have had so far. Ask him a question and he WILL give you a clear explanation in detail. He's a nice and funny guy too, making jokes out of the subject sometimes. He's very helpful and chill in lab and tries to make it fun. His tests can get a little hard sometimes, but he provides lecture notes.
He uses his iPad during lectures instead of a whiteboard. His hand written notes can be found on his dropbox so you can check them out after the class. I think the difficulty of the course was nicely adjusted to the students. And of course he is also helpful during the lab. I'm happy I'm taking his CHEM 1B now!
Although his lectures are clear and filled with examples, his tests are so insane its hard for anyone to pass. 8 pg. test and 3hrs to take it. 75% of overall grade is based on tests. It's killer unless you are sincerely interested in chem.
Dr. Daley is a nice guy but he continuously teases his students for not knowing answers; it gets annoying. His lectures are incredibly long (uses all of the 2.5 hr lab) and he talks non-stop during them which makes learning hard. He does not help via email; only helps during office hours. I'm guessing I'll be getting my first B from Dr. Daley.
So may find his sarcasm funny or annoying. He uses all of the lab time for lecture. His tests are very tough, but not impossible. He gives better clarification and help during office hours. No help via email though. Going to his office hours greatly helped me grades; otherwise, class is tough unless you're VERY goodinterested into chemistry.
His lab quizzes all turn out to be take-home quizzes. Maybe it was just because of the summer quarter and he felt bad for us. His exams are pretty straight forward, directly from the review test, lecture notes, and online homework. Even though you think you know the material, you should still go to his lectures because you still learn new things.
Dr. Daley's lectures (the ones during the lab session too) were very helpful and informative and he was always there to help out the students whenever they had any questions related to a lab that was going on or on a question being covered during the lecture. He's a pretty cool guy, and overall I really liked this class!
Just started taking this class, so far he is very fun-quirky, sarcastic, has a coool, contagious laugh. Seems like he really cares about students.
I like Dr. Daley, but he can be a jerk at the same time. He makes Chem 25 as if it's Chem 1C. He is a very smart guy, no doubt about that, he assumes that EVERYONE is at his level when the class is an introduction itself. Attend all lecture classes otherwise you will be lost in lab. Best taken if you have prior chemistry/trigonometry experience.
I like his personality but however I found the class hard. His exams are extremely. And on top of that hes a tough grader. And as a result I was failing and had no choice but to drop his class. Wouldn't recommend this class if you just want to get through and boost your gpa.
CHEM25, the fundamentals of chemistry, should not have been this hard. It is basically high school chemistry. Professor Daley made it hard to learn for me because he made you feel dumb for asking questions. I ended up having to drop. Do not recommend for CHEM25.. may be better at the higher levels though.
Prof. Daley was a very nice and helpful professor. Lectures were informative, although they could get a little boring. He teaches concepts well and is approachable. HW was minimal (maybe because summer quarter) but do the practice problems to prepare for the exams, which are very long and difficult, but not impossible. I would recommend his class!
Dr. Daley gets way more positive recognition than he deserves. I think that it depends on if you can teach yourself a subject you've never learned before, but you basically won't learn from his lecture notes, he goes through answers quickly and expects you to already know it. He teaches as if it's Chem1C & his tests/exams are extremely difficult.
He is well organized and a good teacher. His lectures are clear as long as you attend.
do not take this class unless you are good at teaching chemistry yourself, his class is hard. The lectures are off power point, talks way to much and rarely uses the white board to teach calculations. His exams are tough, it should be basic chemistry not 1B
If you're like me, and it's been 10+ years since high school chem, it's a very difficult class. Exams are extremely difficult, but not impossible. Dr. Daley is great. Course materials are easily accessible online, and he grades exams very quickly. It's a great feeling when you find out you actually pass his class.
As a transfer student at UCD, i immensely appreciate Dr. Daley's style of teaching. He definitely prepared me for the intensity of how UC level chemistry works. He is an amazing and brilliant professor. This class is definitely hard, but he gives you some mercy so just pull through. The content he taught me has stuck with me until now.
Professor Daley was an alright teacher. His test was so long that people didn't have time to finish them. MasteringChem is easy answers are online. But the test is impossible to finish with the time that's given to you. This was one of the most stressful classes that I've ever taken. So good luck and kudos to you guys.
Doesn't explain things well and grades things extremely hard. Do not take him. If he is the only teacher available then take the chem class another quarter. You have been warned.
He thinks we're all chemistry masters and thinks we should know everything. His 1A class was difficult because he never actually taught us he would just write on his ipad and make students feel stupid after asking a question. Test is impossible to finish and the amount of homework he gives out makes you want to rip your hair out. dont take him
I usually go to school at a 4 year university, but took CHEM 1B at Foothill during the summer to get ahead. WORST decision ever. He doesn't explain things well nor does he grade things fairly. Asked him to look over my work to make sure everything was correct which he said was fine, only to have him mark me down later. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Hope you enjoy teaching yourself material, because he goes over everything so quickly. His lecture notes aren't helpful and neither is he, if you ask him questions. His exams are so hard and long that the majority of the class don't finish in time. Take any other Professor if you have the chance, because he is not a good teacher at all.
There are more positive shout outs to Dr. Daley than he actually deserves. You'll have to teach yourself because you won't learn anything from his notes. He just goes way too quickly through everything because he expects you to know everything. He's not approachable & not good about explaining things when you ask him a question. Take someone else!
Not mandatory to show up since you have to teach everything yourself. He IS a good professor, but he's definitely not for everybody. Has the style where he assumes you have previous knowledge and goes over things super fast like everyone else on here says. I haven't taken chemistry in FOUR years; taking him didn't help that at all.
Starting is a bit difficult but eventually you get hold of his system of teaching. He is very helpful in all areas like for mastering chem or even in labs he wants the students to understamd the stuff and gives a pre lab explanation. Really liked his class
Pros: He makes all the notes, homework, due dates. etc. easily accessible. Super fast grader. Works through plenty of practice problems in lecture. Gives extra credit. Cons: For Daley, there's definitely such a thing as a dumb question, and he won't hesitate to let you know if yours is.
The amount of homework is unbelievably high. I could easily spend ten hours a day over the weekends and still not finish everything he wants us to do. Beside that he is a very nice guy with a great sense of humor. Will I take him again? Not if I do not have to because of the incredibly difficult work load.
You WILL teach yourself everything in this class. ALL of the homework is online through mastering chem. I dropped simply because I didn't like the structure of the course, I don't want to have to teach myself. Lectures aren't very clear and he doesn't really like explaining himself in a way that is more understanding. Would not take him again
His lectures are in depth and also does a lecture before or after each lab so that you fully understand what's happening during a reaction. However, be prepared for a lot of homework and labwork. His office hours are quite open, and he does provide extra credit opportunities, but if you don't have an easy time with chem, you will have to work.
There is no need to attend his lectures since he uploads them (even with his notes), but I strongly recommend going so that you can 'understand' the material. Do Mastering Chem. Do sample problems in his lecture. There is no need to buy or read the book in 1A. Follow his lectures and you will be fine. His tests are not hard but not easy either.
Be prepared to do quite a bit of Mastering Chem. Attend lectures and pay attention -do the problems he does in class. Pay attention to his lab lectures and read over problems that require calculation. Then, you will do fine on lab quizzes and lecture exams. He doesn't give out lab midterms or finals - all based on quizzes that are relatively easy.
Professor Daley's exam is extremely hard. And, he doesn't like that we are asking questions during classes, so I feel very unclear after his classes. I need help, but no one helps me out because of the atmosphere of his class is kinda aweful.
He assumes us to have knowledges of chemisty. Many of CC students don't have.. He doesn't care these kind of students. We want to learn in his class. But it's impossible. He is also really fast paced and you cannot follow unless u already have good knowledge of chemisty. Don't take him!
Hes a wonderful professor who is excited to teach Chemistry but the course itself is so much. He runs through everything really fast since he expects us to have a strong foundation as it is. One thing I will say is that he is always available to talk and office hours are so much help.
Daley believes 1A should be rigorous, and that's what he's made his class. Everything you need to know is posted online and you never need to attend lecture. Homework can be replaced with your test grade, which is great if you know what you're doing. If tough STEM classes are your speciality, Daley is a solid option. Otherwise, it's sink or swim.
Workloads of hw, quizzes and exams are extremely hard. Forget about partial points either youre right or wrong. I dont mind hard tests as long as youre a good professor which hes not. If you can learn by listening to him speak for hrs and never doing practice problems in class then its for you. Worst teacher. Classmates and I are struggling.
His class is extremely hard, but if you manage to pass and understand it, you're prepared for CHEM 1B. There're loads of homework but please try to do extra credit homework as it would save your grade at the end. His lecture notes would be updated on his website, so attending his LECTURE is non-necessary (but please do because the class is hard).
Daley is a great professor, but really difficult. Exams are curved because class does so poorly. Tons of homework, with extra credit so its hard to narrow down whats expected for the exams. Lectures suck because he talks most of the time but he makes lab interesting & fun. He's helpful, attentive, and determined to make you learn chem. Recommended
Dr. Daley comes off a bit intimidating at first, but he warms up as the quarter progresses. Ask for help! After class, office hours, during lab, etc. Do the study guides and hw! (there's a nutty amount of it, but the extra credit helps). He's also very tech-y, and super clear about the schedule/what assignments are due and the clarity is nice.
Dr. Daley is amazing. I took him for Chem 1A and 1B, and I learned a lot. His classes are hard and require effort to get good grades. Lectures are informative and great, however, they are not necessary. Overall, I recommend him, he knows what he is doing and will help you should you need it.
Dr. Daley has been teaching for a long time. He has a lot of experience and knows what he's doing. That's all I really gotta say lol. You should take him. The logic I followed in his class was: 1. Go to lecture to understand how to do hw. 2. Do hw to understand how to do good on tests. 3. Finally, do good on tests and hw to get a good grade :)
Honestly the worst professor I've had by far. I've never dropped a class before this and got a A+ in Chem25 (the class before this). He doesn't care about his job and makes jokes about how he wants us all to drop so he has less work to do. He gave us a huge mid term prep guide only to find only 1 problem looked similar to anything on the exam.
Dr. Daley is a great professor! He's very clear with expectations (which is especially helpful for online classes) and very knowledgeable in the subject of chemistry. He makes the subject interesting and fun. Highly recommend taking his class!
I really disliked this class. He is very kind but he is lazy... During lectures he writes variables instead of numbers very often and writes lots of things down without explanation. Also, the course content is across like 5 different websites. Would not recommend unless no other option.
This class is hard and a lot of work, but he does a great job of preparing you to do well in the class. It can often seem like STEM professor don't know their own material and then test you on things they never taught from an entirely different textbook, but if Professor Daley tests it, he taught it, and he taught it in a way that makes sense.
Professor Daley is wonderful. He's funny, readily offers help, and his online mini-lectures combined with lab are more than sufficient to understand the material. I did not have to use the textbook once to get a good grade--and I'm awful at Chemistry. If you truly need or want to understand Chemistry, I highly recommend him.
He knows his stuff!!! But beware, if you do not have a good fluency in logic and reasoning, you might be confused by the teaching style. reminds me of the proofs in old math textsbooks. He breaks things down, & is more than willling to tell you why and how thing work as opposed to just telling you that they do. Hard tests, but matches lecture well.
Dr. Daley is great! Lectures were asych so you have to motivate yourself to stay on top of everything. Labs are ok. Most of the difficult parts of lab reports we did in class and some we didn't even have to turn in. He provides practice questions before exams and allows 1 sheet of notes front and back during tests. Extra credit is offered too!
Prof. Daley is great! Explains things very clearly, very straightforward routine for lab/lecture, and is super generous with grading tests/quizzes. He drops the lowest quiz score and lab report! DO MAKE SURE to stay on top of MasteringChem + consistent study. His exams are no joke and he changes things up for his quizzes.
Dr.Daley was a great teacher but his class was hard. He is a super nice and funny person who is always willing to help you with questions. However, the class is quite difficult because of the amount of lab and homework. IF TAKING THIS CLASS MAKE SURE TO STAY ON. TOP OF MASTERING CHEM and make sure you know the material before every lab/assignment.
I really enjoyed his class, however It was very difficult because I never watched a lecture. I would say that having good math skills will do you well in this course.
Just do everything, watch the lectures, take notes, do practice problems, and do the online hw, and the extra credit (which raised my total goal for 4%) His tests are pretty similar to the practice problems he provides and you are allow to bring a double sided cheat sheet for every test. Stay on track and put in efforts then you are gonna be fine.
He's very easy to talk to and is understanding but a lot of his work is very difficult to grasp. Even if you read and watch his material it doesn't help. I would say don't take this class if you have other heavy classes because I was unable to finish all of his work. Each assignment took at least 2 hours and there are around 9 assignment each week.
Dr. Daley is an experienced professor who knows his stuff. The class is challenging, but if you stay on top of the work and use resources like unstuck ai, you can do well. Lectures are worth attending to understand the homework.
Would've chosen other professors over him, but he was good. ASK QUESTIONS! Will answer any question you have clearly. 1 cheat sheet for exam. Lectures r long but had practice questions similar to test q's. Get 100% on hw and do all extra credit. Tests are similar to practice sheet, sometimes has q's from lab. you NEED to do practice to succeed.
Must pay $85 for the textbook to do the homework. Marks points off for small things. Expects you to know the main chem topics already. Lectures are better than the textbook. Practice with his practice problems, homework and extra credit don't help with the exams. While slightly lenient, the exams and how he grades makes this class no worth it.
He is a good professor, although I got a good grade, but I feel too tired. It takes a lot of time and effort to get good grades. He's got a lot of tests. But there are extra credits.
He is a very funny person. He had a lot of extra credit for the class. The exams are easy so you can easily get an A in the class.
He has long tedious lectures, very difficult exams, and is a tough and petty grader. However, you will be more prepared for Chemistry 2 than if you took any other prof. Just be prepared to do a lot of self-studying and put in a ton of work... and bring coffee for his nap-worthy lectures.
Professor Daley's class is pretty tough. His lectures were long and tedious to get through, and his quizzes/tests were hard too. There was a lot of homework, however, he did offer extra credit on some of them.
