Really nice guy, unless you get on his bad side!
easy class. just do the outlines and don't miss more than 4 classes.
Do your outlines- no notes, always let you out early, funny, good stories, very good at looking at all different points of view and makes you think about diff. situtations- Only 1 mid term, and a final- study! 50 multiple questions- Nice guy!
Very easy class. He has an odd sense of humor. Only 2 tests and outlines. Don't ask him a stupid question.

This guy has an interesting perspective about everything and he is like a comedian sometimes when he lectures. He's a short stubby guy thats funny to look at but I got a lot out of his class. I recommend him for sociology classes.
Davin is one of those teachers that you either ike or you don't, I am one of those people who ike him!! If you need a class that is not very stressful take his class, if you like a class that is a litte more personal then I would not take him!!
TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU NEED IT!!! This professor is soo easy. He thinks he's funny. Class is kinda boring but easy A. If you cant take nasty jokes or bad language dont take his class. NO HOMEWORK and multiple chocie midterm and final.

BORING!!! I passed with an A and didn't do anything but also didn't learn anything. If you're in college just to pass classes then take the class and bring the magazine, however if you're in college to learn DO NOT take this guy.
Easy A! If you get a D on the midterm, don't drop the class cause you can still pass with an A and you don't have to do anything but show up!

Hard to tell what his teaching ability is like, because he never even teaches at all. He only uses the class as a podium to talk about his dumb opinions on anything he wants.
he was extremely easy. gave tons of extra credit and gave really easy tests. the class mostly consisted of open conversations about various social issues, quite interesting at times. He was quite outspoken! for a professor at least, fun class, not boring. Easy A
The class is easy as long as you read the chapters. There's no homework or classwork, it's all theory. Only quizzes and tests. Just make sure you READ the chapters and show up to class and it's an easy A.
To All of international Students, It is a boring class but really easy. Easy to get" A", we can skip this class many times during a semester without getting any problemes. The teacher is Unhelpful and lazy.
the hardest part about this class is staying awake. he'll argue till he's right or you give up. not a bad guy, you just won't get much out of the class.

I enjoyed taking his class. I learned a lot from Dr. Davin. Just read and take notes and you'll be fine. his tests were not hard. he sticks to the textbook. Very knowledgeable person.
funny guy kept class alive, went off topic at times to explain how to rip off car salesmen. but stuck to syllabus and tests were off textbook. read and take notes on what is talked about in the chapters and you will do good. do some study and ace! i got a c but i deserved it. he doesnt really read the outlines but dont bs him either!
Davin is a riot!! I loved going to his class. You have to respect a man who has no shame in speaking his mind.
If you can sit through entire lectures that bash Christianity, republicans, the military, anyone that makes a good amount of money, or anything Bush, then this is the class for you. This man is very, very left-wing liberal and will not listen to your opinion if it goes against his. Tries to make people with moral values look stupid.
I'm a big fan of stories, especially if they're interesting. Mr. Davin is not only a sociology professor, but he's a man who's been around. Two midterms and one final with many lectures comprise the class, but all you really need to do is participate in the discussions and have fun. Attend class everyday (extra credit towards the end). Great class.
Can you say mean, old jerk? So glad I wasted my time with this class and listen to the men and women over seas get put down. Yeah, Davin is a great example.
Davin introduced the class with an insult, saying we weren't there to learn, but to manufacture a degree in an endeavor to make a few dollars before we die. He digresses in useless ways, posing social problems and criticising current efforts to abate them but providing no solutions of his own. Easy A, cause he doesn't care. Cynical and destructive.
The class was not intersting at all, Lecture had nothing to do with his test. Test was all from the book, It would of been the same if i had taken an online course
Davin has a cynical outlook on life, and a lot of good stories to tell. i didn't like though that nothing from the tests were ever covered in class, so it seems to need to go to class, except that good attendence does gove some points. dont take this class unless you are able to read and remember the entire book.

He does not clarify the class. He doesn't really teach, so you are assed out if you are actually there to learn. It might as well be ONLINE work because you have to learn everything your own damn self!!!
Best teacher by far at RCC. This man is a great professor and a great friend. Really knows his stuff, but will let you try and change his mind. Best classes I ever took at RCC!
best professor by far. such a nice man, very flexible and works with you. barely ever took a note or opened the book in my class, and his essays were a breeze
one of the best professors you will find at rcc. he actually knows his stuff and knows how to teach a class. took him for 3 classes in one semester and it was the best!

his coursework was easy if you read the book, but sometimes he would give questions that were trick q's and it didn't come from the book. alright lectures, though tended to go on the boring side. Pretty easy overall, no essays, just quizzes and final/midterm.
boring....i have his monday night class and its all most unbearable to sit through the whole thing. Maybe an hour would be ok but three hours with him and your getting ridiculous

Here's the scoop everyone, Mr. Davin goes by this: 1. He gives ten multiple choice Q's from each chapter (pass or fail). 2. He gives a 50 multiple choice midterm and final, the final is not comprehensive, and these two exams are not pass or fail. 3. Study the book.
i took sociology 1 with davin fall semester 2004...and i got a D in that class. All he goes by is his book, quizes and tests. The quizes are pass/fail and the tests are very hard to understand especially if you are already lost in the class. If you take Soc 1 take it with a different teacher.

Davin's sociology class is the EASIEST! Only two midterms and a final. He lectures all the time and never assigns homework, but if you're active in the lecture anyone should squeak by with an A. He's very interesting, too. =)
He is overall pretty easy. For winter, he only gave 1 final w 120 questions but he took it out of 90 points. i only studied 3 of the 6 chapters tested and i ended up getting a C in the class without trying hard at all so it's definitely easy to get an A if you put in effort.
This professor is easy or hard based on the student......He gives u 10 quizzes and 1 final, no homework, everything on the tests and quizzes come straight out the book, if your a person who rather read the book and have your grade based on 10 pass or fail tests than hes your man if your not gonna read your book you'll not doubt get an F.
are u kidding me, this was the worst online class i have ever taken in my life. i dont know how he is in class but for his summer online one he was horrible. he didnt check his emails once during the summer session and even if u average an a on the tests u will get a b. its retarded. u have to do on his bonus exam to get an a. dont ever take him!
I TOOK HIM IN SPRING 06. HE WAS DIFFICULT. HE HAD SOME MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND HE WAS REPLACED BY ANOTHER TEACHER. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO FAIL THIS CLASS, BUT THE OTHER TEACHER CAME IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEMESTER AND ACTUALLY TAUGHT SOCIOLOGY. I PASSED WITH A "B" . THE OTHER TEACHER TEACHES AT UCR SO I CANT RECOMMEND HER.
His lectures have nothing to do with the book so you'll sit there for an hour an half and just stare at him and see him talk. The tests are easy and so are the midterm and finals because they come out straight from the book. Trust me he's easy. Except for the lecture...

I took him for an online course and it WAS the most easiest course i have ever taken! i would recomend his online course any day to anyone out there taking sociology! all you do is read and take a midterm and final...EASY!!!
Funny and opinionated. He will swear and tell you exactly what is on his mind. He only has 4 tests and the final is not cumulative. His lectures are not on the material in the book unless the students read and ask him questions. If you need to be spoonfed material then take another teach.
Attend most of the classes and you get extra points. He gives you 3 tests that are not cumulative. On the 2nd & 3rd tests he let us use the book. He does very little teaching from the book. You need to read and study on your own.
Took his online class. Read, Read, Read...i thought sociology was going to be fun? Makes you feel like an idiot for asking for help. Has his own grade scale so watch out! He gave me a C and I had a 84% ! Is that even legal?

This class is so boring. He talks about 1 subject everyday, coming to class is pointless. If u go everyday u get extra credit. only days important are test days because u get to work in groups. gives u study guides which the answers are easy to find. Other then that take him to get an easy A
Fall class 07, He gives 2 midterms and a final, lets you use the book, work in groups, and gives you packets with the questions straight from the test like 2 weeks in advance, dont miss more than 6 days and you get 20 extra points, pretty pointless to go to class, is funny, yet borring after a while, easy A SOOO easy
single easiest class i have ever taken. he left during the first of 3 tests so i stood up in front of the class and read the answers outloud. the lectures have nothin to do with the tests. the tests are based on study guides he hands out. it is not possible to fail this class
i got a b when i took it online and i only worked on the class for maybe a week. easy. just skim the chapters and review the practice tests. you don't even have to interact with him. i wish all my classes were this easy
I took his online class. It's a lot of reading but the tests are straight from the book. Besides the normal book, you also have a reader that can be difficult to read and understand. All in all, the class was pretty simple; no essays or projects, just exams.
easiest class I've ever taken in my life. Attendance is not mandatory, just be there when he gives the study guide. Three tests in the class, open notes, open book, and you do it in groups. EASSSSYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
i took the online class- best online class ever! they should all be formatted like this. you read the book, you take the test, you get a grade. so straightforward. very easy.
This class was easy. You read and take a quiz for 12 chapter, 2 chances for extra credit, and then an extension reader exam. I don't really understand his grading technique though because when i calculated my own it came out completely different from his. The extension exam is hard, but overall an easy class. I recommend it!
I took his online class and it was painless. It is stricly book work, read chapters and take a quizs. No homework, no midterm, no final. I competed the entire semester in 4 weeks. If you do not get an A then I will be surprised, there is 60 pts of extra credit to insure you get a high grade. Dr. D. ROCKS!
This was the easiest class I've ever taken! All you do is read the text and take the quizes (which are based directly from the book!). No essays. Plus there's a ton of extra credit offered. I finished the online class with about 1/2 the semester left. He's extremely helpful if you have any questions. I wish there were more professors like Dr. D!
I took Prof. Davin's only Soc-1 class and it was very easy. There are 12 chapter exams, all open book and one additional reader exam, also open book...NO FINAL. It is hard NOT to pass this class, he makes a difficult subject easy to learn.
Took online class, no class discussions. 12 tests based on the chapters you read. As long as you read, or are good at lookinf for answers through a chapter while you take the test, guaranteed you will pass.
Simple class, 12 chapters, 12 30 question quizzes with an hour to take them. Extension Reader exam (kind of a final) hardest part, 30 short articles, 30 questions. 2 extra credit assignments allowed too. You are given the entire semester to finish everything mentioned. Very cut and dry. Just don't wait till last minute and an A is very obtainable.
I took this class online, easy A. You read 12 chapters and take 12 tests. There is also a test from his extension reader. My only critique is that it is hard to get a hold of him. Other than that, dont wait until the last minute. I was done with the class in 6 weeks out of a 12 week class!
Perfect online class. Able to do the quizzes whenever you can, I finished the class in about 8 weeks. Quizzes are pretty easy as long as you read the chapter, and there is enough time to look back through your book. Easy A.
Overall easy class, but a LOT of reading is required.Don't fall behind.I noticed others saying that they looked up the answers. Not me!My reccomendation is read the ENTIRE ch,cause u will not be able to look up answers in time. Do as well as you can on the ch tests cause the Extention Reader is Very Difficult to understand.
Took his online course, it is so easy. I didnt even read any of the chapters. He posts the chapter outlines on the website and most of the questions on the quiz deal with main terms that are easy to find. He gives you the whole term to finish the class and doesnt care when you start or how often you actually do anything.
I took his online class and it was extremely easy. It consists of 12 tests in which the student has the entire semester to complete them. There are no deadlines or due dates, just everything must be done by the end of semester. He gives two chances for extra credit (1) Taking an additional chapter test and (2) writing a small paper. EASY!!
Everyone's already covered how easy this class was. I actually contacted the professor a couple times and he seems to be a nice and helpful man, though the course is very reliant on the book's info so you probably won't talk to him often. This class was a wonderful experience! Highly recommended.
He explains in detail what he wants on assignments. Make sure you read the text at home he does not go over it in class. OPEN BOOK / NOTES on tests including final. But make sure you read or else you will waste time looking for answers in the book. Fun guy overall.

Professor Davin is great! I took him online and all that he requires is you take 12 online quizzes. No work, no assignments, EASY! He also offers two extra credit assignments. Easy A and VERY nice man! He could not be any clearer, so read the syllabus and you'll do great!
Easy!!I took the web enhanced class and all the quizzes were online. The test questions are word for word from the book. there is no final test. 2 extra credit assignments. So basically I would go to class for no reason, it wasn't helpful you have to read and understand on your own. My suggestion, if your just taking this class as a required course for transfer, take this teacher. If you are really looking to pursue a career in sociology or anything related with it don't take him I won't learn.

This was a very simple class. There is a quiz for each chapter (no retaking quizzes). Thats it! No assignments. He even offers extra credit. I enjoyed. Intresting content.
Prof will flat out ignore any emails you send him. Online course is basic: 12 quizzes no retaking it and chance at extra credit. Avoid if you can. Easy, but annoying.
Very easy and simple class, except for the reader quiz which you should prepare for. I had to email him several times about quiz questions that are flat out wrong so that he could give me points. His quizzes are riddled with spelling errors. It is really a shame that RCC pays this guy a professor's salary. He obviously puts no effort into the class
Despite requiring us to take 12 quizzes the class isn't really the easiest. Some of the questions were pretty tough, but if you email him about choosing answers that are sort of correct but marked wrong he gives you the points. Recommended if you have a heavy load and need this class done.
if you want to get this class over with take the hybrid class. super easy! everything is online seriously. even though you have to go to his class once a week he doesnt really talk about anything. all the assignments are online and so are the tests.u know what that means! Googee. hes rude dont ask dumb questions other then that . take the hybrid!!
Took it online. Heavy textbook use since you're learning it on your own, but material easy to understand. 12 quizzes online all straight from the book. Had to buy a course reader and a test based off the reader- easy if you do the readings and study!. Very easy overall. Take it if you have to and are good at working on your own.
He keeps things interesting in his lectures, but alot of reading is required!
