He is a great teacher ! the subject is extreemly hard but he does the best he can to explain it in a way you can understand :)

Material is hard no matter which professor you take, He however explains it very well and makes class interesting, Clear on what he wants you to know, whats on the tests are what on the powerpoint slides he gives you online so understand those and you'll do great. 5 tests total including the lab final/practical each worth 100 points

Best teacher I've had in my three years at Valencia. He is very knowledgeable and is familiar with every topic he teaches; he can make very complex biological functions easy to understand. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to pass Fundamentals of Biology with a good grade.

GREAT professor to say the least! Micro is hardwork in general, but he made it somewhat interesting. Study guides are given, each test has 40 m/c and 4 short answers. He actually cares for his students, and has a good personality! TAKE HIM!!!!

Professor Dexter is the greatest Bio teacher. I received an A, but it was not handed to me. I put in the effort and time. Make sure you do all the work and and study ahead before test and it would not be hard to get an A or B on the test. Professor is nice and caring. He truly is there for you. It does help that he his super cute in a geeky way.

Great teacher. Clear in his lectures. Do the assignments, Xtra credit, and discussions. Study his power points and you'll do fine!Lab Journal required. Lab practical was easy, the final is just like an ordinary exam. Took this class in the summer and it was fun, ended with a 97%. You won't regret choosing him as a teacher. Good Luck!

Good professor the tests are hard (I am a biology major, get you some of that). Half of the points come from discussions and online activities, and the other half from five tests, which kids failed. But overall, I would say, he is a good professor however a difficult A, in other words, an easy F.

The class is difficult. However, he gives you easy point. if you attendance to all his class in pay attention, you will be able to pass. There are 4 exams really difficult, but you need to study from his PowerPoint. He is a wonderful Professor, so it is not a easy class. I enjoy his class. Prof. Dexter is an excellent teacher, yes this course is normally difficult but he makes it the easiest for his students. He shows students what to study, mainly from powerpoint lectures and notes. Also describes in detail every chapter so you know what you are going over in each chapter. He is worth taking at any given semester.

He is literally the best professor you could have. Makes class fun, interesting and easy to understand everything. You still need to put from your part and do work. Not an easy A. If you take him once you'll want to take all of your classes with him. Excellent teacher.

Best Micro professor at Valencia. He writes his own tests and tailors his lectures to them, gives out study guides, grades discussions/labs very easy to help pad your grade. He's really entertaining and makes potentially boring subject matter fun. Nicest guy you'll ever meet, and I wish I had taken him for biology too!

Any Bio class is going to be naturally difficult, Dexter does a great job of simplifying the material into something nonbio majors can understand. He loves his plants and will associate them with anything he can (it's intriguing). I find him to be very easy going, very caring and understanding of students need. Wonderful bio teacher

Dexter is the best! His lectures made the material easy to understand. Don't bother buying a book. Your exams (there are 4) are based off his lectures so write good notes. There is easy homework to help boost your grade. This class can be hard, but you can pass with an A if you actually take the time to study. I highly recommend taking his class.

He is simply the best professor at the Osceola campus! there are 4 tests and 1 lab practical. The tests are multiple choice plus short answer questions. The book is really helpful but you don't need it. he gives plenty of time to do the assignments. He explains the concepts very well. It's definitely a lot of work but not impossible to get an A.

Professor Dexter is a great teacher! He really tries to make it so that you know the material, however bio is just a hard class to begin with. You really need to pay attention and study hard in order to pass this class! Homework due only on test days, lab notebooks almost every week and quizzes almost every week too.

Biology is my forte but even at this level, I had to study hard and constantly. The book is optional but helpful. Mastering Biology was time-consuming and hard to understand at times. His lectures were amazing; record them on your phone and listen to them to help you study. Empty outlines given for 4 tests, just fill them out for study guides.

I was terrified to take Micro but Professor Dexter was an awesome Professor! I wish I took him for Biology. Tests are hard but he gives you study guides that he writes from his lectures and power points. Lab notebook and discussions easy extra points. Must be prepared to study!

This is my 2nd time taking Prof. Dexter (took micro also). Prof Dexter has a great personality and is always ready to help. Bio 2 and Micro are hard as is, but he organizes his powerpoints and is detailed in his lectures & concepts, that there is no need for the book. Few lab journals and online discussions as well as 4 tests. Great professor!

He cares about his students outcomes and has a strange love for plants. He could be funny at times and he likes to talk to his students a lot. He is a tough grader and most of the stuff that comes on his test is from his power points and study guides he puts on blackboard. Hardest test has to be the lab practical. If you study you'll pass. Bio 2.

professor dexter does not require you to use the book,overall he is a good professor, loves biology and enjoys teaching, he is obsessed with plants and will slide it into the lecture anyway he can, he is hilariously sarcastic. he give chapter outline to review for test and his test are exceedingly difficult and you have to study for the lab pracal

The professor is a good person and he is hilarious. But his exams are really hard. Mostly because the material isn't covered as I feel it should. He rush the lecture to let students leave early but what he is doing is not pouring knowledge on his students.

Professor Dexter is a talker. But his talking will teach you great. Bring a recorder so you can record the classes. Dexter makes the boring bits of bio more interesting and more fun. He is way into plants so don't be surprised if that part takes longer. He is a great professor overall and funny at times.

Professor Dexter is a great professor. His test are challenging so study a lot. He does give extra credit on tests and the final project (super easy) you do, but that's all. He is a great guy to talk to and is understanding.

This is not a class that I want to have to think about ever again. His tests are super hard and the lab practical is impossible. As a professor and a person he is great! The material is horrible and so are the exams which is the only way you can pass the class of course.

Dr. Dexter is a great professor. Geeky, funny, and loves plants (brings them up whenever he can). Uses stories to explain concepts and always has time to help you understand tricky subjects.

Professor Dexter is awesome! Tests are hard but there are a lot of easy assignments that help like extra credit. Like he said this class is not a class that you can pass guessing, you really need to study!

Really have to put in the time to study b/c a lot of the material is memorization. He provides you with all the information you need, so you dont even need the book, just mastering biology which he modifies to only the material he teaches. Gives extra credit on all 4 tests & final presentation(easy). Just do your hw & study & youll get an A :-)

Overall he is a cool guy with a great personality, however his tests are way harder than they need to be. The class average for every single test was a 55% (F) or lower. It was absolutely ridiculous and very frustrating. We also had mastering, 8 homework assignments, a project, and lab practical all due the week before finals. It was stressful.

Dr. Dexter was such an amazing professor! His lectures were fun and easy to understand, and his tests were based exactly on the lectures. There was always 5 points extra credit on the test that boosted scores. The course was a little challenging, but if you just pay attention and study, you'll pass.

After taking biology 1 I was very skeptical about Bio 2. Dr. Dexter changed that assumption immediately. I just finished up his bio 2 course and I learned so much, more in this one class alone then my entire college career for the last 2 years. He cares about his field, cares about your learning, and if you take the time to study, his class is easy

Hands down, this is the best professor. He will spend all the time you need just to answer questions. You can show up to office hours confused and he will go over everything, and he's super nice. He is easy to talk too and he is hilarious. He will explain the material in great detail and go at a slow pace. He cares for his students.

I've taken bio2 at another college and valencia before, so I can confidently say he is the BEST PROFESSOR out there! Every week there's a post lab report about 250 word, a discussion, and 1 chapter of mastering biology. He gives a test review for every exam, there's 4 exams overall and 1 project due at the end of the semester. Would take again!

Dr. Dexter is great. I took him for Bio 1 & 2. One thing I can say is that his test are tough but he provides you with all the information for the test on canvas. He's really caring towards his students and genuinely cares. I highly recommend him. Over all his class isn't a lot a work.

Professor Dexter is a great choice! He is great in explaining difficult concepts and he is able to break it down into simpler terms so that his students can understand. He often comes up with stories that relate to the topic which really helps when trying to remember material. He is great and funny. Tests are straight forward but you have to study.

Bio 2 itself is a pretty hard class, don't be a slacker. He makes his own videos, which are VERY helpful. Since it's online, classmates and I communicate through text and share study guides. Tests are okay but a bit too specific. Make sure to study. Gives extra credit every other week at most. Has 2 lab practicals and about 4-5(?) exams.

Dr. Dexter is great. His video lectures are fantastic, he presents the information very well. However, if he puts in the work, you have to as well. His exams are nothing to scoff at, but with studying you can do well. Everything else is pretty simple and straightforward. He genuinely cares, which is something you don't see very often.

If you want to learn Bio 2 choose him he has great quick lectures and he makes it easy to understand! If you study your notes from his lectures you will get an A! He does kahoots before each exam as a review. There is 4 test he drops the lowest test grade. There are 2 Lab practicals which are very easy as long as you study the Lab images!

Dr. Richard Dexter is an amazing professor! His lectures are very well explained. Each of his lectures are split into short 3-8 minute videos. He is a very caring professor, and he gives great feedback. The mondays before test day, he does a review kahoot which are EXTREMELY helpful. If you take the time to study, you will get an A.

Professor Dexter is unlike any other biology professor. We were given 4 tests every couple of chapters, 2 lab practicals, and 3-4 assignments per week. He was very straightforward, lectures were short, he creates his own questions and he uses honorlock. He gives you study guides before each test. Just remember the study guide is your best friend!

Professor Dexter is one of the best professors I've ever had. He's super organized, no meetings but videos for every module and activities that go along with it. I recommend taking notes and making flashcards on the study guide q's. 4 exams, (lowest dropped) 2 practicals, 1 project. A lot of memorization for phylogeny but IMO is easier than bio 1

Professor Dexter has to be one of the best professors I've had at Valencia. The lectures are concise, fun, and not hard to understand. When watching the lecture videos definitely take notes, watching the videos before class can help. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed in his class and is always available if you have any questions.

Dr. Dexter's classroom is always super fun to be in! A favorite aspect of his class is how he gets students to critically think about the concepts we're learning. Overall, he is a really chill and caring professor who is absolutely amazing at his job.

Professor Dexter was great i really enjoyed taking his class. There is homework every week, do not forget to do the mastering there is no assignment for it but has to be completed before the test. He is very understanding. This is a tough class and Dexter really does try to make it as less painful on the students.

great prof so take him! super quick hmwk/discussions for easy points. few assignments due sundays. posted lectures online, were short and made them interesting so make sure to take notes. tests were average but just use study guide provided and you will do good. lab practicals were a bit challenging but passible. final is not cumulative.

Dr. Dexter is a-maz-ing, very very funny, great lectures, and very accessible. The course itself can be challenging because there's a lot of content but Dr. Dexter taught it wonderfully. To have success in this course you NEED to dedicate time into studying the material because there is a lot. I passed with an A. I can say I learned a lot from him!

I took Professor Dexter for Bio 2 and lab. He is amazing to put it lightly, he is very passionate about what he teaches and is excited for you to learn. TAKE NOTES AND STUDY. His tests are very challenging but it really tests your knowledge.

This is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is incredibly passionate about what he teaches. He is super understanding, caring and flexible. He had 2-3 assignments a week that were so easy mostly posting a picture from Google or describing something. Worth 3-10 points (Super easy points). He also had extra credit. 1000/10 would recommend!

Took Dr. Dexter for Bio 1&2 and all I can say is that he is the GOAT for Bio. His lectures are very informative, the tests are fair, and always has witty stories that will make you remember certain topics even after you finish the course. His passion for Biology (specifically plants) is clear, you won't regret taking his class!!!

Hands down honestly. He is an excellent professor, he would actually teach you and help you understand the material. His lectures are awesome too because they are brief and straight to the point and he makes them interesting which is nice (take notes tho), the exams are hard but if you watch the lectures and attend the labs you will be just fine.

Had him last semester and learned a lot with him. Study and takes notes your grade heavily depends on the exams.5pts reflection questions every week and rarely has homework. He releases early, gives analogies, time to write notes, and writes on board . Everything for you to understand. Super nice would definitely take his class again.

Let me just say this, the exams are so horrifyingly specific its bonkers. This teacher gives exams that are literally as if you are in your third year of school when this is an intro biology class, its bonkers. The assignments are easy. no review/ mock exam just kahoots. That are not helpful. There is 5 in total exams, all bad. Look elsewhere.

Dr. Dexter is a great professor. Took a mix mode class for bio2 and it was not bad at all. It is a biology class so if it is not your strong subject, you will need to put in the work. He will drop your lowest test grade. There's homework every week, 2 lab practicals, and 4-5 test. TAKE HIM! I cannot stress it enough how great his class is.

Lowest test dropped, homeworks graded on effort/completion not accuracy, tests are uber ez, and im an idiot, so trust me. Labs are cake, just participate & give a reflection after. Take him. And countless extra credit opportunities. U only need 80+ on tests for overall grade of A. It's a fast summer class and still ez.

His teaching style is great and easy to understand he goes the extra mile to make sure the class understands and uses many connections and analogies. The test are hard but doable.

Imma just say this, most of your grade are your exam grades, the problem is that he makes the regular assignments so easy that they are only worth 5 points or less. The exams are hard, worth 100 points each, the questions are so oddly specific for nearly all including the 3-4 write yourselfs. This class will make you not want to look at ur grade…

I literally took him in 2023 but I am struggling as a senior in college now and I miss him. Best professor I have ever had. So clear on lectures and he makes it fun and engaging. Will never make you feel like an idiot for asking a question. Easy exams if you study. Loads of extra credit options. I took him for Bio 1 and 2 and got B and an A.

One of the best professors I've ever had! The test are not hard. If you study his videos and slides online then you will pass the test. Homework is easy and is graded out of participation and will help with grades if struggling on test. He's cares about his students and does not want anyone to fail. I would take him for every class if I could.

Professor Dexter is the GOAT of biology at Valencia. He makes his lectures easy for anyone to understand by coming up with plenty of analogies for biology things. YOU NEED TO STUDY. Study guides and Kahoots before every exam too. Easy 5 point homework assignments every week that will help your grade a lot.

Amazing professor! I remember when I had a horrible Bio 1 professor and I came here to find a better one for bio 2 and saw that he was liked. But when I took his class it was so much better. He takes the time to teach and help you whenever you need it. He is so funny. And he prepares you for every exam as long as you take the time to study for it.

The course was fun with professor Dexter's lectures. There are many labs that are hands on. Professor Dexter always puts feedback in your work and is willing to help out because some material can be a lot to memorize. Enjoyable course if you like learning about living things, dissection labs, and using microscopes.

Even if I didn't pass the class, Professor Dexter always explained things in the best possible way. He always helps with any questions you may have in the labs. The only thing I found difficult was that in class he would explain one thing and on the exam something else would appear. But he's a good teacher.

Great professor! First in-person class I took. Not a tough grader, uses Kahoot for every test, assigns short weekly videos, and tests are 40 MC + 5 short answers with EC. Offers a big extra-credit project that can raise your grade a lot. Super helpful and fast to respond. Had a 86 but with all the EC its a 90. I took his mixed-mode class. Take Him.
