Do not take this class with him! I would be getting a C or D if I stayed in it, now I am getting an A in another. He is not helpful...just stares at ya' like ya' should know everything. Try and stay away!
His grading policies are the easiest ever. He drops 3 of the lowest quiz scores and at the end of the semester, he gave everyone 2 100% quiz grades.
sooooooooooooooo boring
He has a weird math sense of humor. Is fairly easy to understand, and the class is pretty easy. No calculators on most tests, but we get notecards.
Too hard for a 100 Class
Something about this man is just cracks me up. He really reminds me of Mr. Bean. In lecture, though, he talks extremely slow and isn't the best at explaining things.
had a hard time understanding him at first but after a while and after going to his office for assistance the class became easier. So if you do not understand him then goto his office it helps!
This guy is a little strange. He reminds me of a robot. He comes across as a hard butt, but over the course of a semester he softens. Don't be afraid to ask a question even though his initial answer might be crude. Persistence with this professor is the key.
He is a funny man, but his test do not represent his teaching. Your best chance is to have previous experience in this subject because a loose base will cause failure. Good guy, Bad teacher.
Very boring and hard to follow. Teaches in a way that makes it look like he doesnt know what he is doing. Horrible Prof. says "well?" and "I donno?" all the time.
Good guy and very helpful.
good guy who knows the math but has a tough time presenting it in a simple way, makes you feel dumb in class when you ask questions or arent correct. uses well, maybe, i dont know and other phrases like that all the time gets very distracting
Really weird guy, but pretty funny. Acts like he has no idea what he is doing but actually knows alot. Class wasn't to hard and he graded tests pretty leniently.
The class isn't really hard, but he can be somewhat confusing at times. However, he wants you to do well and it's very easy to get points if you do your homework. When I took the class, we had two days of lecture, group work day (he'd go aroung and answer questions, then a quiz on Friday
He is not helpful at all and refuses to explains things if you don't understand them. He makes comments if you get the answer wrong and you wind up feeling dumb. The tutoring I got was mroe helpful than he was.

OMG I didn't think this guy was for real, he acts like Kip on Napoleon Dynamite. We'd ask a question and he'd say that he didn't know so it wouldn't be on the test. I laughed throughout the entire class and counted how many times he said "I dunno", very easy class though & he's willing to help..
Easy class, open note tests, group work once a week, tests were pretty easy if you did the homework. He missed the final and the dept. chair had to administer it.
Once you get past quazi-teaching yourself the text, pretty easy class. Nice grade curves, tougher tests, but very do-able with class attendance. Dry math humor gets old but makes up for it by being laid back. Experience with the material seriously helps. I dont mind him at all.
So boring it's interesting. He constantly uses phrases like "I dunno.." and "I guess", sighs far too much, and sometimes beats a horse far past it's death. And he wears the same blue sweater every day in the winter. He isn't mean or a bad teacher, just very tempid overall.
hes funny to listen to. he reminds me of mr. wilson off of dennis the menace
He does not really teach at all. He is a math genius, this math is way too easy for him. You teach yourself and he then goes through the assignments on the board. If you do the review sheet before every test and understand it, it will be an easy A. Test come right off of the Review sheet. He grades generously. Really nice...has anodd sense of humor
This professor is horrible! He comes in to class with a sad look on his face everyday. You must teach all of the material to yourself and he will go over a few problems the next day. He makes you feel dumb when you ask a question. Don't take math with him if you don't have to.
Teaches like its a waste of his time. He asks if there are any questions but acts as though he would rather have you sit there and not say a word. Makes you feel stupid if you ask a question or he answers you with a stupid response. Some people find him funny, but I really needed to learn something in his class so his teach style was no help to me.
In the beginning of the year I really didn't like him, I didn't understand his methods. But, as the semester went on I liked him more and more, once he starts teaching more he is better, just give him time
I can't speak for how he teaches 100-level courses, but I think Heeg is great for Abstract Algebra. He has a sense of humor and is willing to help outside of class. Part of his routine is to act like he doesn't want to answer questions, but he's not being serious.
I don't have a problem with his humor, and people who think that he doesn't like people asking questions are wrong. He is very talented at math, but unfortunately he has no teaching ability. Class consists of getting the assignments, doing them out of class, then going over them in class. If you have a question, he will know the answer immediately.
He's incredibly nice, willing to answer questions and help outside of class. Sort of a Mr. Rodgers type. You do have to do a lot of learning on your own, and sometimes he assumes that you know things, because to him they're so simple. However, thats easily solved by asking for help. It seems a little dull, but math classes always seem to be.
He is a pretty cool guy. Just make sure to ask any questions you have because he might move quickly at times, but he is always willing to slow it down and explain anything you don't understand.
Class isn't exactly easy. Homework counts for nothing, your entire grade is based on your tests. Although he will drop the lowest test grade. Takes attendance almost everyday, go to class.
He is an interesting teacher with a nice style to keep you involved. I enjoyed the class even though I was really confused all the time. He had a bad sense of humor, but it made the class funny at times.
I hate math and can never understand it, but he did a good enough job that I managed a B in the class. He's very helpful if you ask, but if you don't ask questions he may go too quick and not explain things well enough. Don't be afraid to ask, he's not intimidating at all! I would recommend him especially if you struggle with math!
not too bad
He is EXTREMELY helpful and funny! He is kind of weird, but it keeps the class interesting. Do you homework and ask questions if you don't he may move too quickly. Homework is not graded, he doesn't take attendance so coming to class is not mandatory. If you struggle in math, he would be great to take. He is very understanding.
Attendance isn't manditory, but I would suggest going so you don't fall behind. Homework isn't graded, tests are about 14 questions. Grades are based on four tests and a final. Good teacher wants everyone to pass and has an odd sense of humor.
i really liked him as a teacher. he can be kind of spacey at times but it's pretty funny at the same time. he was helpful when we needed it and was often available. he even wrote me a letter of recomendation to study abroad and i got ecepted...
i really liked him, he is kinda quarky, but he is very nice. he sometimes stook attendence, sometimes not. he was always willing to help if you needed it and would go over stuff in class. i really liked him and recomend him.
I think he is a pretty cool guy and I like his sense of humor. However, he is by far the hardest teacher I have ever had for math.He goes over things WAY to quickly and assumes that we know just as much as he does.He often skips lots of steps and leaves you wondering what the heck just happened.I am usually decent in math and I am really struggling
I'm not good at math but this is one teacher that really helped me understand. He is very helpful and if you have questions, just ask. He's kind of goofy but it just makes you laugh.
This guy is like every other math teacher around, he's a goofy, crazy man. He also seems brilliant but expects us to be right in his stride. Normally he would put up how to do something and go "thats to complicated" and then he would, to use his term "blunder" through it like nothing leaving us behind. Then he askes what grade you think you deserve
Best class I took all year, sure he might seem wierd at first but hes helpful funny and knows what he's talking about, Heeg is the man!
Never did my homework, tests were all mult choice + curved to what you thought you deserved. This was his replacement for partial credit. Just went through stuff I wasn't sure on before tests and got all 22/23 out of 25s. Final was simple, pretty sure I got 100 and then he asked what we deserved and I was borderline A- and A and got an A.Take him!
Take if you get the chance, really funny guy and really really really easy. Not sure if im stressing how easy he was lol. Never opened my book, looked over notes 30min before test to write down some things on the notecard your allowed to use and got all 24 or 25 out of 25. whoever said he is hard, must have never went, or never payed anyattentio
take heeg!!i though the class was very easy & i'm terrible at math!! i opened my book maybe once-he covered everything thoroughly in class and never checked homework. tests are all multiple choice and you can use a notecard. it was a very relaxing & chill class environment. he's pretty funny too even though he seems kind of weird
Heeg is a pretty easy teacher. He gives thorough test reviews and allows for a cheat sheet on the tests. If you're not satisfied with your grade after you've corrected the test you may write him an explanation about the grade you deserve. As long as you honestly correct your test, you are rewarded the grade you think you deserve.
Did a pretty good job explaining things in class, Tests weren't that bad, he let you use a notecard, and the final was easy becaus you could use a calculator. Never checked assignments and was understanding. Just don't email him because he won't respond.
Difficult to understand what he's teaching. Goes through problems too quickly. You end up teaching yourself.
Heeg = baller
GO TO CLASS! To really understand the material it is mandatory. Prof. Heeg is a good teacher which is rare in math departments!
He really didn't teach much, most of what I learned I learned from the book but he is extremely easy. Never collected any assignments and allowed a note page for every test.
Heeg is awesome. I enjoyed his humor a lot, and his teaching style is one of a kind but very good, and I'm a bit of a critic. You don't have to go to class and you don't have to do the homework. Tests are very short and M/C and he prepares you completely with a practice test. He wears the same outfit everyday but I like his style. I recommend him.
Heeg is one of a kind. THis is the easiest class you'll ever take. You're practically allowed to cheat on every test with a cheat sheet. He walks OUT of the room when tests are in session, has a dry humor, NEVER collets hw, and curves grades so everyone gets A's, and if you don't get an A, tell him why you deserve it and he'll give it to you.
I found his class difficult. Watch out for tricky questions on the exams. He is really helpful though - great office hours and always willing to help. Can't use a calculator on any exams! He's an intelligent guy who will talk about how back in the day they never used calculators! Easily answers student questions in depth.
Calc is hard. And heeg doesn't help that. I feel like I learned this class on my own and with the math lab. His class is bearable, but you will need to go to the math lab if you want to pass or if you're going on in math at all, like I am.
Nice guy but not very good at teaching. He has very dry, sarcastic humor. I didn?t really learn much in the class since I took AP calc in high school I relied on past knowledge because he wasn?t very clear. Grade is based on 5 tests(lowest grade is dropped), lab(if you go you get the points), and the final. Also, you get a cheat sheet on all exams.
Really nice guy and tries hard to make class fun but never really does. Learned nothing new from him and he takes days on a topic that should only take a day. Tests are easy and only twelve questions and he give extra credit almost every last class of the week.
Richard is really nice and great professor. Math is boring, so i get usually realy tired, but he asked us questions and kept me awake by his humor. he tries hard and helps students do be successful in his class. he is great.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He does not explain math well at all!!! He expects you to know everything he is talking about and if you don't, he acts like you are dumb. Tests are easy for the most part and he does not collect homework, but during class, he'll drive you nuts!! If you have the choice, DON'T TAKE HIM!!
He is a VERY dry professor
HEEG is the man! he is funny and you just have to study the practice exam. If you go to his office hours he is willing to explain everything crystal clear. I would strongly recommend.
His teaching style isn't the greatest, and if you struggle with math, I would recommend not taking a math course with him. He gives multiple choice exams, but if you don't understand the material, you will do poorly on them. Although he doesn't collect the homework, I would suggest doing it because you get extra credit at the end of the semester.
He is a very dry professor but his tests are all multiple choice so it's not so bad. Plus he lets us use a cheat sheet for all of our tests. As for his teaching style it's not that good but he's always willing to answer questions.
I liked Professor Heeg's teaching techniques. He went through material at a faster pace, but he slowed down when students had trouble understanding a concept. Tests only consisted of 13 problems and you could use a note sheet. This class was an easy A for me. Take Heeg if you can!
Dr. Heeg is a really nice guy and he is very helpful if you go see him for help. His problems in class are hard to follow, he skips steps and goes through problems really quickly. If you are not math confident and need a lot of sample problems I wouldnt recommend his class.
I had Professor Heeg for Math 112 and in Math 114 he was no different. Sometimes the material was confusing because he skipped some steps but he still let us use a notecard. He gave a lot of extra credit since all of our homework was for extra credit. Overall, he was nice though and I liked the class.
His teaching style is sloppy and rather incomprehensible. Nice guy but would not recommend him if you are not a math wiz.
Professor Heeg is a very nice guy, but the little teaching he does is through the Socratic Method. There is a reason this is not more commonly used in math classes--his class is good proof of why it shouldn't be. He also consistently shows up to class late and doesn't give clear directions or notes.
Nice guy, but he is very unclear in his directions, skips steps, usually does not teach the material but rather just goes through it, and often uses the phrase "do what you want." I wouldn't take this professor if you are not good at learning math on your own(more or less).
Do the homework, go to class, and you will get an A. Little bit different way of teaching, but if you pay attention the class is easy.
Easy Class! He wants everyone to get an A so if people aren't, he'll add an extra credit quiz. On every test you get on average 5 extra credit points and get to use a sheet of notes. Do the homework because that is extra credit. He is a really boring professor, but an easy A!
He was very boring at times, but always had a humorous tone which made class a little better. Overall he doesn't teach the concepts very well for people who have trouble with math and there are only tests for the class. He does offer extra credit for doing homework which is the only way to get an A in the class.
He is overall a good professor. Just make sure you do the homework and take notes. Math 109 was pretty easy, and his tests are primarily the same as the study guide you get a few days before the test. You also get to use a note sheet. What I did was just copy the study guide onto the note sheet. The class is easy if you put in effort. I got an A.
Dr. Heeg is funny and knows his stuff. He has a dry sense of humor, so that makes for some interesting moments. He is interested in his student's success. The HW is extra credit, but it's more or less mandatory.
This guy is funny and smart as a whip, but he doesn't rub it in your face. He gives out HW as extra credit and study guides almost exactly the same as his tests. Ask questions and he will work with you. Go to class and you won't have a problem. Loved this professor.
Professor Heeg has a very dry sense of humor and seems like stickler at times, but he is actually a pretty nice guy. He's understanding about personal issues and made homework extra credit, not mandatory. Yeah, I'd take his class again.
I liked Professor Heeg a lot simply because of his weird personality. He doesn't say much but he is always willing to answer your questions until you understand. Overall, I thought it was a good teacher and I would take a class with him again.
He is kinda cute, but a really hard teacher sooo idk. If you like math definitely take him. If I wasn't constantly staring at this cute boy in my class I probably would have gotten a better grade.
So far this was my favorite math class. Although class wasn't the most exciting and the tests were pretty difficult he gave us extra credit for just doing the homework problems. Basically the entire course is about triangles, I never thought I would love triangles so much...
He is bad, do not take him.
He is the worst professor I have ever had (and I thought my last semester was bad!) It seems that he doesn't even enjoy teaching. Also when he asks the class a question and no one answers he stands up in the front and then drops his head down. The only thing that makes up your grade are the tests, so if you do bad your screwed! DO NOT TAKE!
ONE OF THE WORST PROFESSORS I HAVE EVER HAD! HE IS SO BORING AND IS JUST TERRIBLE AT TEACHING! I HATED MATH BEFORE AND NOW I HATE IT EVEN MORE! I REMEMBER DOING THIS IN HIGH SCHOOL, BUT TAKING IT AGAIN IS AS CONFUSING AS LEARNING IT THE FIRST TIME! YOU WILL BE MISERABLE DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!
This class was SUPER easy! He didn't really teach, but he graded everything super easy! We only had quizzes, no tests or exams. I got an A+ and didn't pay attention in class. Study a little and you will be golden! Overall this class was such a joke. Heeg was kind of mean, but funny. The class was great.
His Math 112 class wasn't that hard, if you attend class and do the homework, he also gives chances to correct exam mistakes. However, he is pretty mean! He makes students feel stupid when the answer a question wrong in class...
Heeg was super relaxed. He let us use notes if we asked at the beginning of a test and taught us the information we needed to know. I would recommend him for math.
Professor Heeg is a good guy with an odd sense of humor. He may seem intimidating at first, but don't be fooled, he loves what he teaches and will gladly help you outside of class.
Doesn''t explain material well at all I''m not a math person so it made math a bit challenging to learn. The only good thing is that his grading is a bit different so that can save you. Offers one extra credit opportunity which helps. But in general would not take again.
The only thing that goes into the grade are 3 20 point tests and 1 40 point final. Homework is optional. GO TO CLASS! He is willing to help if you need it. He has a dry sense of humor but he is pretty good at teaching and knows his stuff.
Professor Heeg, is hard! he doesn't explain material hardly at all, he expects you to know a lot. Then when going over the homework he makes it seem really simple (its not) by flying through it not explaining anything. Tests and quiz's are hard. Also he is really hard to approach and makes you feel stupid if you ask questions. Don't take Heeg.
He comes off as mean at first but after a few lessons, you realize that it's part of his famed dryness. He loves participation but will never force an answer out of anyone; he ends up doing all the work on the board anyway. Make sure to take notes because you'll be able to use them on tests (even the final) Overall, I feel like I didn't learn much.
heeg isn't as bad as a lot of people say. if you aren't naturally decent in math don't take him. if you do bad on tests (which you will) he will almost always give you back points for work. he will help you pass if you show the effort. he also drops your lowest test.
Heeg is a nice guy, but he doesn't explain things at all which makes it really hard to understand, especially if you aren't good a math. He's a really weird guy; sometimes funny but most of the time I had no idea what he was talking about. I wouldn't recommend taking him.
He likes to have the class participate and if students don't, he tends to get a little sarcastic. If you ask questions he will help you and try to reexplain things so that they make more sense. The tests are basically straight forward and if you listened in class and did the homework assignments it is very easy.
