He is truly a nice guy, who is more than willing to help during class or office hours. Study a bit, just a bit, and you will do perfectly fine. Attendance is mandatory, and regulated through clicker questions. However, he grades easily. If you are present 80% of the time, you receive a 100% in participation. Easy.

Extremely frustrating to deal with at times. He would go through the powerpoints way too fast and not post them online. The homework he assigned had nothing to do with the material we needed to study for the test, and it was unclear what to study in order to pass. the average on his tests were D's- F's. Grading system was weird.

The lecture slides were poorly organized, many slides were not specifically titled, and the material was taught way too fast. He might test on his lecture material, or maybe something from the book that wasn't mentioned in class. It requires a lot more work than what a 100 level course normally does. I will never take one of his classes again.

Dr. Holloway is great-- at putting people to sleep. I would go to his class after the gym (and taking highly caffeinated preworkout) and still fall asleep in his lectures because they were so bad. A friend and I took turns napping while the other did the clicker questions.

Holloway is not that bad of a professor, but his lectures are extremely dry. He goes super fast through the lecture slides so be prepared to type with your laptop or take pictures of the board. He drops your lowest test score and offers a good amount of extra credit and random points, so you can pass the class even if your test scores aren't great.

Even though I had NO previews bias or expectations, from day 1 it was my worst class. Extremely monotonous lectures and tons of online homework and pre-exam modules. He talks to students in a condescending tone nor does he explain concepts well. If you do all the homework and extra credit, even if you bomb the tests you can pass with a B.

Make sure to pay attention to his in-class examples because he likes to ask questions about them on tests. The lectures for this class are drool-worthy. I only went to class to receive the clicker question and participation points. The book is online and the homework is all through the book's system. The exams are awful, but somehow I am going to make it out of this class with a B. If you get him: take pics of the slides and don't try to take notes.

Dr. Holloway is very monotone and doesn't make his own powerpoints so there is way more information in the slides than is tested on. Holloway also doesn't really work with the SI so the SI doesn't usually even know what's going to be on upcoming tests. However, there are a lot of homework and other assignments that help make up for the tests.

Dr. Holloway was the biggest joke of a biology teacher that I've had. He doesn't post power points online, goes over topics extremely fast so you barely have enough time to take notes, and the test's are basically impossible. Homework and pre-lecture readings saved me and are the easiest ways to earn points. Take a different professor if possible.
