He's a hard professor, and requires his students to do a lot of work, and yet he's good. You'll learn a lot in his class, but be prepared to spend hours every week doing his assignments and studying for his difficult tests.

He is a great professor, if you are a CIS major you must take him. His lectures are crystal clear, he really cares about his students. His assignments are all based on his lectures and he gives you really high grades. Very nice, always willing to help you, always replies to your emails. His test are mostly short questions.

This was a class where you'll learn some useful Access. Professor can be impatient sometimes (since he's an expert and most people are just learning this), but he is very helpful. If you want an easy A, would not recommend if you've never taken a 3000-level or higher CIS course.

The guy is a total beast when it comes to IT. There is literally no aspect of computing that he is not experienced in. Goes out of his way to help his students in and out of the classroom. Maintains a website that teaches students computer and business skills just for fun. Cares more about his students than some people care a about their kids

Professor Holowczak is one of the best professors at Baruch. He knows his material very well. He cares about his students. He responds students’ email amazingly fast. If you are interested in working in financial industry, I strongly recommend taking his class. You will learn a lot of about finance and information technology for financial industry.

Professor Holowczak is a great. One of the best at Baruch. This is NOT a easy class, but he explains the material very well and teaches very useful information. Pay attention in class or you're going to have a difficult time learning on your own. But he has a website where detailed information are compiled.

If your a CIS major,and are serious about technology, make sure you take his classes. This guy knows his stuff and you will learn alot about IT in the financial world. His programming assignments can be hard if you haven't been doing any coding since intro to C++ , but it is a great way of getting programming experience.

Syllabus is on his website you can search from google. One group project, 3 hw, and 3 tests. He is really nice guy I ever met in the college. If you have a question about the hw or anything just email him. Test is not hard just study his note and you will pass the course.

You'll expand your vocabulary by learning a lot of SAT words (You'll get it later) He's a solid professor, and if you want to learn database management intuitively, he's the professor. Please try to do your assignments without slacking and make sure you find a good group for the project. His stories are hilarious so don't sleep on his lectures.

Solid choice for a professor. He teaches very well and gives great feedback. His exams are fair too as long as you study well for them. Only drawback is the group project- not because of the project itself, but working with my group members to deliver a new piece of work each week was brutal. Hhis website has everything for all your assignments. VERY quick emails, will look at your entire hw if you need help. Professor Holowczak is defintely one of the best you can have at Baruch. His course pave a good fundation for any further database study. Exam are not very difficult. Hands-on project on MS Access.

There is a group projects, so get a good group. 3 exams: 2 midterm & 1 final. Exams are fair. Several assignments that is based off lecture. Answers to email very quickly. Come to class and take notes.

If you don't do the homework/project milestones, he will follow up with you. Constantly. Doesn't give up on you. Failed his class but only because of my own failures. This professor is one of the best ones I have taken at Baruch for CIS .The last 5 reviews someone left for him is probably someone who doesn't want to study or receive a good grade without putting effort in class. Everything we learned so far in SQL was in detail explained from him during the lectures. For those that want to learn, take him!!!

Prof. H is not only one of the best CIS professors but also one of the best at Baruch. He's incredibly knowledgeable (and funny too!). At first the concepts may seem confusing and foreign but he explains them step by step and helps you understand the "why." He provided really good notes and lectures that still help me one year later.

He's not the type to just throw out A's for free, but as long as you do everything by his instructions, homework and tests are easy. However, for this class I had a really tough time with the group project because I'm not that good with python, and the project required you to be amazing with it. So if you can't code in python, don't take this class

The absolute best CIS professor in Baruch. IMO works harder than the majority of professors here in Baruch to give great lectures and resources for coding AND job interviews. He doesnt give out easy A's so you have to work for it, but his class is enjoyable enough to warrant that. Your group members are the only thing you should be worried about :)

Prof H knows the material. There is a group project but it correlates to what we learn in class and is very easy to follow. Homework is not the easiest but i believe is something we need to learn before graduating. Very lenient with deadlines. The man, the myth, THE PROFESSOR. Hands down the best CIS Professor you can get at Baruch. Prepares you for the real world with every exam, assignment, and lecture. Professor Holowczak's knowledge pool is extremely deep across many topics, and it is a miracle Baruch has him, as he could be off at any other company making the big bucks.

I AM A SUPER FAN OF HIM!! No doubt he is my fav prof so far. Love his dad jokes and teaching style. His hw was hard but he is a generous grader. He's a great professor, I just wish he'd record his lectures. A lot of your experience in this class will depend on whether you have a good group for the group project (35%). Other than that, all the tests were very fair and you don't have to take many notes because everything he teaches is on his website. Overall, he's a solid choice.

The professor is willing to learn w/e new tech comes to the market, which is reflected in the class material. Lectures can be boring, so I recommend reading his website, googling more resources, and asking specific questions. I wish the group project had less weight bc sometimes collaboration does not exist; I also wish he gave final feedback.

One of the best professor for CIS 3400. Just take him you won't regret. This man is truly a GEM. Only because of him now I know how database system works. His lectures are very through and interesting. He is caring and will help you whenever you need help. I wish all the professors were like him. I was lucky to be in his class. The GOAT.

Honestly, put the time in, he's really great. im even taking him again next semster for cis 4400. put in the work and learn something because he really tries for you to learn. yes some of the material is boring but try your best and use his website and everything will go smoothly.

One of Baruch's fewest bright spots in the CIS department. Insanely knowledgeable about the content of the course, well researched and really seems like he knows his stuff and really wants you to know his stuff too. Definitely a lot of work for this course, but he made it very manageable and really helped out the people who reached out. Amazing!

I really enjoyed this class and appreciate Holowczak for looking out for his students. His jokes and good communication is what made his lessons more understandable. He's always available by email, has a site with his course materials, and records his online lectures(Hybrid). If you have trouble understanding anything just ask him he will help you.

Hes definitely 1 of the better prof I have taken. He is readily available if you have any questions and responds to his emails quite fast. You CANNOT miss a lecture since his lectures are quite detailed and goes over what will be on the test. The grading was tuff but he does give feedback and opportunities to improve ur grade.

Graded on 2 exams, group project, and a few HWs. Exams are based mostly on lecture content, he uploads all the material online so there is plenty to study off of. Take this class only immediately after 3400, a lot of the material is relevant and will make your life easier. Take his advice, he knows what he is talking about.

Professor is great he gives quite lengthy homework but gives you a month to complete each one. Lectures are a bit dry but he tries to make up for it. Tries his best to better his teaching style and shows a lot of care for his class. Midterm is 100% short answer and you need to get in depth on the details about each topic.

Prof. Holowczak is the sweetest person ever. He tries to engage with students during class by making funny jokes. He will make sure you understand the material. His lectures might be a bit lengthy, but he explains the material so clearly. He always prepares us so well for his exams with the resources he posts and even makes YouTube videos for us!

Hard class and difficult concepts at times, but the prof clearly cares about his students and will try his best to help you out as much as he can. Easy to reach outside of class, willing to meet outside of office hours to help. Tests are hard and not well organized, but all info can be found in slides/website/lectures. Attendance helps a lot.

Probably the best and most caring professor in the CIS department. His goal is for you to learn and be able to use the knowledge in your career. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. All notes and lectures are posted on BB and he often updates lecture materials if there's a mistake or something to add (not many professors do this).

Funny, kind, and a fair grader. Easy A as long as you study. There were four homeworks, three tests, and a semester-long group project. Test questions are VERY specific and tricky, because he always includes an "all of the above" or "none of the above" option, so make sure you understand/memorize the definitions and concepts.

One thing about him is that he is ALWAYS available to help. There was a semester-long group project (luckily I had an amazing group) where he constantly gave feedback and specific areas to improve. I was typically very nervous about his exams but he gives hints about test questions during his lectures and has his own website for us to review.

This man is a saint. Replies to email's so fast, has his own website, makes his own yt videos for class, super organized, and records lectures. He goes above and beyond what is required for a professor. Out of the many interesting profs at baruch.. this man is an actual saint! Taking him for 4400 next sem. You wont regret taking him!

This course is requires you to be proactive and put in a lot of work, but it is all manageable. Two tests (30% total), homework assignments (30%), and one semester long project (40%), so make sure you do well on the homework and project. As long as you follow his instructions and show you put in effort, you should be fine.

Graded on homework (5-6 DataCamp courses), a semester-long project (completed in phases throughout the semester), midterm, and final. Exams are a short essay, but he'll go over the topics the class before. It's open-book, so write some notes about each review topic beforehand. The project is hard but he will help you if you show effort.

Truly an amazing professor. The project is def the most tedious part of this class, but he's always there to help, all you have to do is reach out. His exams can be tricky but if you know the material there's no way you can fail it. I feel like I finally understand SQL because of him.

You get 3 tests non-cumulative. The tests aren't that bad but you need to study the material carefully. He uploads lecture videos which are helpful. The group project can be tedious since it's a semester long project. He is very accessible, gives good feedback and actually cares about the class. The homework is really easy.

Holowczak is a great professor. I've had him twice now and he's been great both times. He explains content in an easy-to-understand manner. There are two non-cumulative exams but they are fair if you study. Homework assignments are datacamp or SQL related and he provides ample time to complete them. Lastly, there is a semester-long group project.

Professor Holowczak is a gem within the CIS department, and truly a one of a kind professor. I have had the pleasure of taking Database Management Systems and Data Warehousing with him now. He teaches in a manner that makes it very easy to pick up on difficult concepts, and he's always open to questions and helping in any way that he can.
