Professor Hooley, is a alright teacher, he's new, yeah he does hate the book, but the guy is there to help you always, he is helpful...there is like 3 office hours per week and every two weeks review, exams are based from his practice problems...if you study you should be fine...and yeah, the curve is pretty huge...

Extremely condescending towards students. Has absolutely no idea how to teach difficult material so the students understand what's going on. Lecture consists of him drawing molecules on the board with little to no time spent to make sure everyone is on the same page. He doesn't understand the concept of TEACHING as opposed to presenting material.

Hooley is a genius. He is new so he is not a great teacher yet, but I think he will get better with time. If the average on his tests are low then he has a huge curve. He doesn't teach out of the book so make sure you take proper notes in class. Attendance is crucial to your performance. Very helpful and always available. Lots of review sessions.

Most of these people posting are in fact correct. Hooley, does not completely follow by the book, is not the friendliest profess to ask questions, is not very approachable, lectures were pointless to attend. BUT his practice midterm samples are very close to his actually midterms, his scale is very generous. If you study a little you get an A.

I feel that he did a decent job of teaching this quarter, considering that 112B by nature is not meant to be an easy course to teach, let alone learn. He can be challenging, and his notes can be somewhat scattered, but he certainly knows his material. It all comes down to how much effort the students are willing to put in--work hard, you get the A.
