He is very boring and his slide shows SUCK! IF you want to make a good grade or atleast be able to stay awake find a new teacher!
A little boring in class, but a decent teacher. If you're a Psychology major you'll probably find the material interesting enough despite his presentation. If you're not, he's a good choice for an easy A.
since when is Hudiburg an easy A? His class was very hard, and staying awake in it was even harder!
It's hard as anything to stay awake in his classes, his presentation is just plan boring, stay away from this teacher if you want an easy A, he scaled all of our test 10 and not a single person in our class made a 100 even then on any of his test.
STAY AWAY! He is awful. He mumbles all the time. He isn't clear as to what he wants you to do, and he seems to hold a grudge against his female students. Also a very picky grader, esp psy stats.
Dr. H is a great teacher and I recommend him.
You can't understand a word he is saying. It is an awful class taught by an awful man. STAY AWAY FROM HUDIBURG. I'm a good student and did not do very good in his class because I had no idea what to study.
horrible teacher. mumbles, boring, extremely uninteresting. terribly difficult to stay awake during his powerpoints. ick...stay away. worst class that i have ever taken.
Worst teacher I've ever had. BORING, you can't understand what he's saying most of the time, and you'll ALWAYS fall asleep in his class. Stay away from him.
Dr. Hudiburg may be borish at times, but he isnt a bad teacher. After i made it thru Cognitive it was all up hill from there. Psych Stats is super easy as long as you do the work. Also, He is a cool guy. He taught us the highest proof of alcohol to ever be recorded was 193. Get to know the guy and things are easier for you.
He scales his tests at least 10 points. If you read the textbook you should do well.
he wont ever answer a question directly. He expects you to understand everything he is thinking and wont help at all
It is true he tends to mumble every word.to pass his class do exactly what he says. READ THE TEXTBOOK!! Every single question on the test was either from something he did outside of lecture (video or something) or directly from the book. It's a big book/long chapters. Get ready for some reading if your taking his class. got a high B. 7/10
I took this class my freshman year. I am a senior now, and can definitely say that this was the worst class that I took at UNA. It was dry and boring. I could rarely hear anything that he mumbled, and his tests were awful. The material on the test seemed to be pulled from the abyss. I would not recommend this class to anyone.
He's a nice guy, but I don't think teaching is his calling. He expects you to read his mind, and when you ask a question, he never really answers it. I studied for four hours for a test and made a 68. I wouldn't recommend him.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had in my whole life....HE SUCKS!!!!! He tires to suck up to all the football players all the time and he looks like a big ugly loser. He can not teach at all and brags about how he has been to Spain and no one really cares. He has the personality of a door knob! HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!
boring........rambles on..............tests relatively easy
I love psychology, but this class bored me to tears. He never really answers questions or says what he is trying to say. The tests weren't horrible, but the class requires a lot of personal motivation.
AVOID THIS GUY! HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR THAT I HAVE EVER HAD! take joubert or bates or anyone else!!! my class started out with 29 and ended with 6.......TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! horrible at teaching, hard to follow lectures, and a real jerk!
Class is hard and he is not very clear on his material, he thinks that because he understand it that you should understand it the same way. I barely made a B in his class. I worked hard and did the required home work. That helps alot, study the homework and you should be fine on your test. GOOD LUCK!
He is one of the worst professors I have ever had! His lectures are BORING, his tests are hard, & his extra credit is not enough to make a difference! I never made higher than a C on any of his tests, no matter how much I studied! He gave a curve on every test though, if it werent for that I would not have passed! DON'T TAKE HIM UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!
Yes his classes are hard, but I had him for three classes and I passed all three. Wake up and realize that you have to study in college folks.
His class is ridiculously boring, but if you actually go to class, take notes, and give your best attempt to stay awake then you will do fine. He also curves every test so it is hard to do bad if you study at all. He is a great teacher over all.
Very monotone and confusing.
I had an "A" in the class and all i did was go to class and actually read the book. Tests are all about 50 multiple choice ( CURVED )Lectures are boring, he doesnt finish his own sentences... ( you kinda have to be a little ADD to pay attention) I found the class easy.
Test are difficult, Read your book and you will do fine.
He was very monotonous and boring...didn't really explain things well and his notes do not help whatsoever. I studied very hard for the first two tests and barely passes and the last two I barely even opened the book and made B's on both of them...he's an okay teacher but I wouldn't take him unless you love reading your textbook for hours and hours
not a very clear...talks in circles
His class is absolutely tragic, he never makes any sense; and if you have his class @ 8 a.m. you will go to sleep. His tests come straight from his powerpoints and the books, so studying is a must. But he's absolutely boring, and monotone. No fun at all- so if you like psychology, don't take him. He will make you hate it after the class is done.
Not helpful at all...very vague in regards to test, some extra credit possibilites..very negative peronality
Hard to pay attention to. Just READ THE BOOK like he says, and you'll do fine. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ!!!
Maybe not the world's most exciting lecturer, but geez just read the textbook and study. He gives you points. So amazing when people complan b/c they have to actually READ in college! Oh, and also STUDY in college! Scary. Someone complained that they studied for FOUR whole hours [sarcasm fyi) Wow.
i really like his class, he's not the perfect professor but i feel like he's helped me learn alot and i've interacted with him very well, his tests were fairly easy for me, just make sure you look at the powerpoints and vocab. i liked him alot overall.
Dr. Hudiburg is definitely not a fun teacher, but if you want to pass the class it's not that hard. He'll tell you at the beginning of class that he has no attendance policy. I skipped that class almost every day, but studied the powerpoints and read the chapters, and I came out with an A. Also gives a LOT of extra credit opportunities.
If you read the book, it is the easiest class you could ever hope to take. However, you have to acually read the book, and there is a lot of reading. His lectures are boring and impossible to understand. He has no talent at lecturing...super boring...but you don't need to listen to the lectures, just read and you will get a perfect grade
After reading all of the comments I am shocked. Dr. Hudiberg is a great professor. He wouldn't be the new head of the dept. if he didn't know what he was doing. This is college. It's not supposed to be easy, you do have to put some effort into it. Yes, you have to read the book. What class doesn't require a book? I would definitely recommend him.
His teaching style is his way or the high way. Arguing with him gets you no where. Lectures are boring and he is hard to understand. He tries to relate to the students but he can't. Test questions are mostly application questions so READING the book is a must. NO study guides are given DONT ask for one. READ READ READ READ READ READ READ READ.
This guy needs to just quit. Couldn't stand him. If you are going to take psyche, don't take him unless it's your only option. He gives you more of a headache than the actual work. He's not very helpful either.
Personally, I thought he was hilarious. Yes, sometimes it was boring, but overall I enjoyed it. Read all the chapters for the tests, and you'll make an A.
Going to his class was the most miserable 50 minutes of my day. He is a HORRIBLE teacher. Do not take this class unless you are willing to read a three inch book completely through. I have never came in contact with a man as bizarre as him. Never take him.
He is a horrible teacher. He is hard to follow in class lectures and is not willing to help unless you are one of his pets. He talks down to his students. I cannot believe he is the head of psychology now. His test are not too bad as long as you READ your book which is a must anyway becuase his lectures are useless. Teaching is NOT his calling.
I had him in the summer as an early scholar. Not an "easy A." He put his powerpoints on Angel, but his tests come mostly from the textbook. READ READ READ the textbook. Several of his test questions came straight off the book publisher's website. I wound up with a B, but I would advise taking someone else if possible.
Confusing & boring. Hard to follow. Lectures weren't really helpful. Socially awkward. Take Carrasco (heard she was pretty awesome).
Dr. Hudiburg is amazing. Just pay attention in class, read the book and you'll do well.
Worst teacher ever. I dreaded going to his 9a.m. classes. He doesn't look at you when he speaks. He shows NO respect. I had him as an advisor also. It gets NO better. If you tame Psych, avoid Hudiburg. Good Luck!!
I love taking Dr. Hudiburgs classes and listening to his lectures. He can be pretty funny sometimes though I'll admit it can get kind of dull when he gets into his routine. He is always willing to help a student and reading the book is a must. As long as you apply yourself you will do fine.
Hudi was and is a good teacher. Yeah, he likes to have his rants, but for I/O, every single one was related to the subject at hand. Overall, he's a great professor and a good guy. I'd definitely take a class from him, again.
Read your textbook and distinguish yourself as a good student early in his class and this man will bend over backward to help you (grad school rec letters, phone calls, etc.) in the future. He's hard to get to know, but once you do he's incredibly sweet and you grow to understand him better. If you're a psych major get to know him!!
I do NOT recommend Hudiburg for Psychology. He is funny sometimes, but he not only is he hard to follow, but he is nota very kind man either. He's very strict about make up policies for tests, and if you have a question about it, accuses you of not paying attention. Do NOT use your cell in class or he will call you out. Tests are pretty hard, too.
Dr Hudiburg is a great professor. He cares about his students and what he teaches. He gives you ample time to study for tests and all the information that you need is available to you. Definitely give him a chance if you are willing to earn your grade.
Another great class with Dr. Hudiburg.
Boring, confusing and not to kind. I liked Psych going into his class but not anymore.
His class is hard, but its mainly hard because to pay attention in his class is unlikely. He is ery boring but his test are LITERALLY everything you see on the slides and videos he shows. Make sure you know your vocabulary and read the slides. Good thing about his class is his slides are on angel but the bad thing is you can easy fall behind.
If you love bland professors and Cognitive Psychology, this is the class for you. Otherwise, just don't do it.
Interesting class. Great Professor, who makes it very understandable. Give Dr Hudiburg a chance, he is a great professor and a great guy.
Very nice guy. Tend to get confused with what he is trying to explain. It is best to read your textbook. It is boring in class, but very helpful and interesting outside of class. Relatively easy in general psychology, difficult in psychological statistics, but only in the summaries of the math problems, not the actual math. Talk to him after class!
I believe he's lacking in the proper attributes to be an effective professor. He's reluctant to accept when he's wrong, and his cognitive distortions prevent him from welcoming other opposing opinions. He's a bit rude and unfiltered, and his speech is scattered, yet he expects the class to follow along without error. Nothing against him personally.
At first, his lectures are super confusing, but over time, you get used to it. READ THE BOOK! His tests are mostly book generated, so reading the book is a must. Also, be sure to know the different studies and theorists associated with those studies. He tests heavily on those.
If you want a semester of misery, then Hudiburg is the guy for you! If you love taking a pop quiz once a week over an entire chapter, then don't pass up this class. The only reason you'd ever need to show up to class is to take the pop quiz, because his lectures are useless. However, an A is achievable by knowing every detail of the chapter.
I thought Dr. Hudiburg was a cute old guy until I talked to him. The one time I went to talk to him after class to ask about an unclear grade, he made me feel like an idiot, never looked me in the eye, and never answered my question. I can handle a tough course, but his interpersonal skills are nonexistent, and that hurts a teacher.
Study! Study! Study! Only way you'll pass. He surprises pop up quizzes, so participation does matter. Quizzes and exams are the only thing he grades, so if you're not good with tests this is not the class for you.
Worst class I have taken in college so far. He rambles most classes about things that don't matter. He scaled every tests and the class average was still a low C every time. If you can get away from him, DO IT. Also I finished with a 79.4 and he wouldn't budge at all for a B.
Avoid at all cost. He rambles about Google and cell phones all the time. Test are difficult. Not a very understanding person. He expects you to read a long PDF book and take notes that he does not even write on the board or in a power point. He does assign extra credit but don't count on it. If you get this professor I wish you luck.
Seriously, I would avoid this professor at all costs. He blabs about cell phones and how this new generation expects everything given to them, and yet, he refuses to grow as a person. Lectures are long and unhelpful. Come to this class and bring homework, but lectures won't help at all.
Worst professor and possibly worst human in existence. Normally an A student but I worked my tail off for a C in PY385. His lectures are pointless. He hates young people and technology and talks about himself 75% of class time. Do not ask him questions about anything!!! Also, he made a girl in my class cry... BEWARE!
just. dont. do. it.
Hudiburg is awesome. He is very nice and knowledgeable. He isn't the best presenter, but he loves what he does and does it well. He's hard, but fair. He's just not exciting as a lecturer, but if you engage him outside of that, you'll see he's cool.
At first he seems like nice old man. He's not. If you ask him a question, he will answer it some statement in regards to what your doing wrong. He just makes you feel like an idiot. His lectures are pointless, all he does is ramble on about pointless bs. The tests are a shot in the dark; you never know what to expect. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.
He's hard to follow and he will belittle you. Twice I almost got up and walked out of class because he started yelling at us.
Try to avoid at all cost. Very closed minded and lectures are pointless. I learned nothing at all from him and had to teach myself just to pass the test. He always assumes he is right about everything. TRY TO AVOID.
this teacher makes you feel like you are wrong about everything. If you answer a question out loud in class he makes you feel stupid. you have pop quizes pretty much every week and must read the chapter at least twice to pass those. overall do not recomend!!
Dr. Hudiburg knows Psychology, but he won't teach you any. Be prepared to read the entire chapters in order to learn anything for his test, and beware his many quizzes. He expects you to have read the entire chapter by the second lecture. His lectures consists of yelling at us about our phones. how stupid we are, and google. AVOID AT ALL COST.
Dr. Hudiburg is a knowledgeable man, but he lacks all communication and teaching skills. On multiple occasions I wanted to get up and leave due to his rude comments. He hardly lectures at all. The majority of the class he rants to us about how stupid we are and how google and technology makes us stupid. Be prepared to teach yourself. 0/10
This class was fairly easy. If you don't read all the chapters, you WILL NOT pass this class. His tests come straight from the book, so his lectures are basically pointless. He reads straight off the powerpoints (which are online) and doesn't add any additional information or insight to the material. Attendance is pretty much pointless. just read.
Dr. Hudiburg knows a lot about Psychology, but he's not great at teaching what he knows. He is an extremely uninspiring person who comes to the class with no enthusiasm whatsoever. Also, he rants a lot about how social media, smartphones, and tech companies are after you at all times. I learnt nothing from Dr. Hudiburg.
Professor Hudiburg knows the material, but does not know how to allow the students to actually understand it. He reads from the powerpoint and then rambles about cell phones, social media, etc., Be sure to listen to his random facts about his own life because he likes to use those as bonus questions. Make sure to read every chapter, there is a quiz
First of all he is into conspiracy theories. Every lecture was about how some app or electronic is spying on you. He HATES cellphones he doesn't allow them in his class but his lectures are so long because of his tangents. Literally took my phone and showed the class my "texts" but if he actually looked at it he would have seen it was the lecture.
Avoid taking him at all costs!! He is extremely patronizing, rude, and disrespectful to his students. He is the opposite of helpful, usually replying to questions with rude comments. He delights in wrong answers. His tests are excessively wordy, long, and often confusing. His quizzes are no better--5 questions over 30+ pages in 4 minutes. TERRIBLE!
This man is the rudest meanest and worst teacher i have ever been around in any level of school i have taken. He is condescending if you ask for help, and he doesnt discuss things relevant to the lesson. He just goes on rants ablut pointless things. I have never seen a teacher be so rude and mean to his students. Something needa to be done.
Awful! Really rude has no enthusiasm gets off of topic about phones, electronics and random etc things. Your grade on canvas is not your actual grade doesnt but test in. Lecture are boring just reads off the PowerPoint.
I'm a psychology major and took him in my junior year yet had no idea what he was talking about most of the time. He mumbles a ton and disses Apple products every class. He is very hasty about coming to class and calls you out in class if you have a laptop, phone. tablet, etc even if you are using it for the class. Would not recommend at all.
Passing stats with Hudiburg is like a rite of passage for psychology majors. After it life won't seem so bleak anymore. I enjoy statistics so it really wasn't as bad for me as it is for others. He lacks some personal/communication skills, but if you are able to look past the surface, you might just find something to laugh about from his class.
If you have any common sense, you will NOT take his classes. He is the most boring, sarcastic, and rude man I have ever met in my life. 10/10 DO NOT recommend.
