Thought he was hard at first, but really he's just trying to get the best out of us. Very helpful if you take the time to go see him.

By far, I learned more in Bio 101 than I have learned in any other course at Western. Don't get me wrong, it was tough, but Dr. Juneau gave us plenty of ways to learn the material, and he gave some bonus, too. I put in more time after the first exam, and I visited him during his office hours, and that helped a lot. Wish he was teaching Bio 102!

At first I was mad because I thought he was mean, but he really isn't!finally went to his office and after he told me that this is college bio and a lot of self teaching has to happen to succeed, he started answering questions I had and went through stuff that I didnt get.a big help! I guess you just have to start studying hard from jump!

At the very beginning he kept saying something about "DNA TO RNA TO PROTEIN" and I had no idea what he was talking about! but by the end of the course I finally understood it, lol! Im not very good at biology, but he taught me alot!

ton of material. test questions came right from lecture notes and end of chapter questions in book. and he told us that too. hard but not impossible if you work. super nice guy. gave bonus but wish he woulda gave more at the beginning. glad i took him becuz i learned alot about bacteria and that is interesting. also liked learning about dna.

Dr. Juneau helps as much as he can in class but BIO has an ungodly amount of material. Every test is based STRAIGHT from the lecture PowerPoints. He is very understanding, and is more than willing to help during his office hours. Gives out lots of extra credit and there are very little outside assignments. NO LAB REPORTS, tests all multi choice

Tough material. Has made me think like i haven't had to before! i think he's preparing us for classes down the road. i don't like my grade so far, but i do like dr. juneau.

I didn't get the grade i had hoped for. But I told Dr. Juneau in office hours that this is the only class at Western i was really challenged in and that i liked the challenge. I know i coulda done better but I got so tired of hearing classmates blaming him. My own lab table people never did anything on there own and i worked hard for my B.

Wake up call after first exam. I feel prepared for 102, though. Dude really loves science. Couldve done a little better on the tests, but I did improve. Loved his writing assignments. told me I did an excellent job on them. A lot of memorization, but he played alot of videos in class that were so interesting. All in all, i recomend.

I got an A. He wrote me a good recommendation. Thought the first part was boring, but he told us a lot of stories about research. By the end I was fascinated. He loves bacteria.

Dr. Juneua is one of my favorite teachers. His class and him seemed really intimidating at first. But he was always willing to help and gave a lot of bonus stuff. I loved the challenge and he explained so much in his office hours on the board. He also gave me confidense. I learned so much about Biology. I'll never forget that class

Thought i was gonna die at the beginning. lots of info to remember. He pushed us hard, but ended up being greatful for that. finally sucked it up and asked questions in class and went to his office/asked for tips. That made all the difference. I ended up with a 90. He is super helpfull and a good person/teacher. I stopped complaining and worked.

Dr. Juneau is a really smart guy but he moves through slides quickly so it's easy to miss what he says while you're copying things down. If you've never taken BIO before then you'll definitely need to read the book, watch YouTube videos, and see him during his office hours. It can be a challenging class but if you stay on top of things, it's doable

Kinda dreading the regular semesster after summer semester with Dr. Juneau Before Dr. Jhated science after Dr. Jloved science was so cool to learn stuff from a real-live scientist who was relateable!

Challenging class. Lots of stuff to learn. But by far the best profesor Ive had. He really wants you to get it and was always there to help. Hard class, for sure. But great professor. Very willing to work with you. One of the more organized teachers that ive had at Western. He always put stuff on blackboard quickly and I never felt unpreparedd due to something he didnt put on there, It was always just me waiting until the last minute! Advice don't do that!

Really hard class, but Dr. Juneau might be one of my favorite teachers. You really do have to go to class, but he makes that pretty clear from the start. I hear alot of my classmates complain about the workload, but I know they never went to his office hours. I did and he was very good about reexplaining stuff. Record lectures if you can.

I pulled out an A! Couldnt have done it without his extra help, but he is willing to give it. Lectures are alot and sometimes you miss stuff, but i guess that is college. Dr. Juneau is one of the hardest yet best teachers that I've ever had. You have to put in so much work, but he helped me so much, and I feel more well-rounded after taking his bio class. Some of my college classes after his felt so easy, and I am glad for that. If you don't want to work really hard, don't take him. If you want to learn, take him.

I love his class! Honestly a lot of people think that his class is hard but it really not that hard. You just have to study a bit. As long as you study the powerpoint you will be fine! come to his office hour and review your test. By doing all of that you will pass with an A.

Would def reccomend. I had to work hard but i ended up learning alot. If you take the extra time to ask him questions or go to his office, he will reexplain anything to you. Very challenging, but I have a appreciation for science and research now. Very demanding but laid back at the same time if you get to know him. Heard gripes, but I worked!

Clear on what he expects from students. Does not give test reviews. Read his PowerPoints and the chapter, you will pass the tests. Lectures only off PowerPoint. Nice and friendly, but strict. Very smart and knowledgeable. Lab tests are difficult.

Hands down, best professor I've had at Western. He challenged our class so much, but i paid attention in class and went to see him in his office and I learned so much. If you cant do hard work, do not take him but if you want to learn and are a serious student, sign up for this man. Have friends who took him and aced A/P. I think i will too.

lol, did i seriously see someone on here say this class is boring! not sure what class you took or maybe you just werent paying attention. this class had its mundane parts but overall was VERY interesting. don't get me wrong I had to study my ass off but dr. juneau was my favorite prof and I learned alot about bio. very acessible outside of class.

worked hard for my B and proud of it. I found most of the stuff interesting and think about science a little different now. i liked when he talked about his research. He told me a lot about doing research when I asked him questions at office hours. He definitely gets excited about science and when the class does good on a test. I would recommend.

Taking Dr. J in the summer. Was a lot of material. You have to devote a lot of time to the class. But he was super helpful if you go see him. I took the 5 week BIO101 course in the Summer. There was a LOT of material to cover so it was fast paced and tough. Just attend class and put forth the effort; you'll be fine. Go to office hours! I went to review all of my tests. Dr. J is fair, willing to help, and actually quite funny. I enjoyed his class and plan to take him for Micro.

Why cant every prof at VWCC be like Dr. J!? Learned so much not only about science but about how to be a sucessful college student!

I think some more of the negative comments are more referring towards the work not really the professor. I'm taking the summer 5 week course. Is it a lot of information? yes. However, Prof. J does an amazing job at explaining the slide shows through his lectures. Bio is just a tough subject, but prof J is amazing!

Enjoyed his class so much

Since virtual, he monitored if you've watched lectures and what items you have opened and worked on. Always made himself available and very understanding of outside issues and would provide material so you could still learn. Multiple choice test based directly from powerpoints and lecture. Practicals were based on lectures (in-lab) and experiments.

I took the entire class online (save for the required in-person lab) and his class definitely takes some getting used to. Its very lecture heavy- the material in the test is covered very well in the lectures. Office hours will definitely get you on his good side, he has a ton of students so it doesnt hurt to get your foot in the door.

Great professor but there are so many exams and labs. Plus hes a tough grader. He gives great feedback though and is always available outside of class. I would take him again.

I had Dr. J for Bio101. The exams are based on notes straight from the lecture. He enjoys what he does and loves the material, so the class is interesting. He grades very quickly and is always willing to answer questions. I would take him again.

Professor Juneau was easily one of the best professors I've had at Virginia Western. Biology was never my strong suit, but he provided lots of extra credit opportunities and did a decent job at explaining what would be on his exams. It's by no means an easy A, but if you're willing to put in the time to study, then his class is extremely fair.

Go to lecture and focus on the specifics that he teaches. Print powerpoints for notes His tests are pretty straightforward if you study & pay attention. Labs: take initiative and actually do the labs. He seems scary but he's a chill dude if you actually put in effort. Not the best explainer sometimes but watch the bio in focus on yt lol

Only wants success for his students. Will not hold your hand, but will help in any way possible. If you break through the fear of visiting him (I had it at first!) you will do well! I feel like I understand Bio, and I thank Dr. J for that!

Juneau's BIO101 class is challenging, but if you engage with the material and utilize resources like Unstuck AI, you can succeed. The lectures are dense, so staying focused and using the textbook is key. With effort, this course can be rewarding.

Most caring professor, held the class to the highest standard. Stressed using his notes and the text together, and I'm a better student because of it. If you go see him, he'll answer all your questions. I feel that when I enter the medical field, I'll be really well-prepared in the field of microbiology.
