Very, very boring. I didn't attend class and I still manage to get B's on test. He drops lowest test grade out of 4. The quizzes take forever but the test is the same questions. I wouldn't recommend him. I haven't really learned much; I just recognize the questions on the test.
easy course! quizzes online are extremely quick and easy(once you learn how to cheat CORRECTLY!). go to class, because some ques on test are from little things in lecture. big curve on all tests. 3 tests and 1 Independent Proj. drops lowest grade if u do the proj. u can get tons of easy extra credit
He's an ok professor. As long as you do all the readings and and know the terms you should do well. He class can be boring but he gives some extra credit for attendance.

Very easy, just do all the assignments and a little extra credit should get a B, dont have to come to class, make good grades on the comp quizes and you will do good on the test basic as that, its time consuming but worth it, this class is an easy A.

Kasschau has a wonderful ability of making intresting subjects boring. His online textbook is horribly written and is a pain to read. His tests are just printouts of quiz questions. If you hate psychology and want your belife to be reaffirmed, this is your man. It is hard to fail though.
teaches with good but glitchy software. overall, good professor. however, i would rather get a hotter teacher.
Easy course, don't have to attend lectures to make an A. BUT BE WARNED!! Quizes online every freaking week so don't be forgetful!! however online book has built in tutor in case your doing bad and the tests are straight from the quizes! just read the book in the outline version instead of full text.
I wouldn't take his class if I were a freshman. Quizzes weekly, a crap load of reading. Occasionally made jokes in his class, but a bit boring a lot of the times. I didn't even know what or how to study for his exams. I cheated on his quizzes so you know the kinda grade I made.. UGH!

He is a pretty nice old man, who loves to teach children(Young Adult). He basically teaches off the notes you buy. He is very helpful and very entertaining at time. Sometimes he crack out some old jokes that your parent have heard of. His quiz are a pain in the @ss. Nothing but reading.
His class is a breeze. This is one of those classes that the teacher understands that not everyone is going to graduate school so he teaches on the 3000 level unlike a lot of UH instructors
Funny Teacher
Tape course. 4 m/c tests (1 cummulative) and a creative project you design. Lowest of 5 scores dropped. Tapes a bit boring. Tests a little challenging, but he grades on a HUGE curve. 29/46 got me an A! Definitely recommended. Watch ALL videos and read carefully. Very interesting content.

a great class!!! Every U of H freshman goes through Kasshau's very memorable psych class. Great memories of how he hypnotised people, or had guest speakers, or casually swore during his lectures; (Ha!!!) Highly Recommended, especially for non-Psych majors...
This class was somewhat easy. The tutor and bonus quizzes really help out on the quiz grades from the book. Read the book and it should help.
I was amazed at Dr. Kasschau's ability to take an interesting subject and make it as exciting as stale bread. His online book has several errors, but the quizes are easy but make sure you have some time to devote to it.
he's a nice enough guy. too bad his lectures are boring and his tests are extremely hard. he also "happened" to LOSE one of my tests... and gave me a ZERO for it!! His explanation was, "It's okay, I still drop your lowest grade. So this one will just be dropped". However, I did really well on that test and it would have brought my grade from a B to an A. I took his course 3 years ago and I'm still pissed at him for this.
Dr. K has his own little book that you have to purchase for the class - it is cheaper than the normal text but it is more confusing to follow. Plus he has a TA to grade the exams and papers - just make friends with the TA. Also, Dr. K's exams are pretty hard - I think he just gets all the questions from a question bank instead from lecture materials. . .
Dr. K is a nice man but his lectures in this class were so boring. The class I took was a class where we were being filmed for future class lectures on DVD/VHS and it make it very uncomfortable to talk to the prof without being on camera. Also, Dr. K has his own text that you purchase which has TONS of errors in it. The one I bought didn't even have the pages in order! Dr. K was rude and crude in his lectures - he made fun of people who were over weight and asked us to imagine them having sex!

I took him several years ago for an online Social Psych course. What a bore. Totally uninteresting and the subject matter was presented in a very dull and dry way. Guess that is what you get for taking an on-line class.

This man could bore a unconcious man. His lectures had little to do with the book. Oh and speaking of books, you buy one online that he wrote and one from the bookstore that he wrote. The books are full or errors including but not limited to: repeated pharagraphs, run-on sentences, missing words, incomplete thoughts, and pronoun abuse (where he uses pronouns so much its hard to tell what or who he is speaking of anymore). I took him 2 yrs. ago and he is not disablility (CSD) helpful either. Avoid him.

Dr.Kasschau's class is extremely boring, even though the material is very interesting! At times, he does catch my attention in class, but everything he says goes right with what is presented in the online textbook, so I rarely listen in class. We've only had one test so far, and it wasn't that bad, the online quizzes are DIRECTLY from the online textbook, but you can take them as many times as you want. Just take them until you get 100 and you'll be fine. That pretty much sums up PYSCH 1300: Intro To Psych!
Boring as hell to listen to. All he does is restate what is already said in the online text. The online textbook quizzes suck because they focus on your ability to memorize certain WORDS not concepts. Can't wait to get out of this class although the first test, I didn't really study but still did well so hopefully all of his tests will be like that.

Dr. Kasschau is a very informative, interesting, and helpful professor. Anyone who posts any differently surprises me. I found Dr. Kasschau extremely helpful and considerate. I learned a lot in his class.

BORING! Stare at powerpoints every class. No need to go to class b/c you'll probably be the only person in there! Quizzes are time consuming, but you learn more with them than going to class. No need to buy the $115 online book. Share with someone who already has it! Some professors can make a class interesting....this one didn't.
I would avoid at all possiblity to taking this class. If you are ready to put in an extraordinary amount of work for one class, then go for it. I did learn a lot but i spent many countless hours studying. It is an extremely hard class and I do not recomend it at all
The class if very interesting but Kasschau some times does not go over the important things and therefore you have to spend a lot of time studying. It is not hard if you have a lot of time on your hands but other than that I suggest you take another teacher.
not to be mean, but if you can, avoid this teacher. i'm sure he's a nice person, and all, but you have to spend countless hours to learn what you are supposed to. he helps, to a very slight extent. if you love to study day in and out, or if you are brilliant in psych, than take him. otherwise, don't.

Easy breezy, but still informative... Great class format, no way to not get an A if you attend class and do the work. Also, computer interative class supplements are really helpful.

When you consider the type of people that are students in his class, it is easy to see why so many fail. If you possess some intelligence then his class is very easy, as long as you do all of the quizzes and reading. I put in 1-3 hours a week for his class, very minimal time required. He can be humorous. Easy A for good students.

Class was boring, lectures had nothing really to do with psychology mainly rambled about his life and his friends who are famous in some way. Read the book, do the quizzes and you'll get an A. Project wasnt bad either. I got a A in the class
Attendence is pretty useless, just do the online quizzes, go to guest lectures and experiments for bonus points and you'll be fine. Didn't learn much in this class, waste of money.
His lectures are useless and you learn more by doing his online quizzes. Mandatory e-text you have to purchase from him. Only take if you have to!
Tests are rather hard. He counts 45/49 questions on tests but since everyone else is really dumb, scoring about a 35 will get you an A. Online quizes are pretty hard but project isnt. The 5 page paper can be done in one day. Probably not the best class to sleep through but u can waste an extra 5 hours or so taking surveys for extra credit.

The class materials are interesting, but he go over so fast n I don't understand anything in his lecture. All I did was just read through n memorize the text online(cu'z we have to do the quiz online). By the way, he is very old. All of his tests are horrible, hardly had anyone pass with a B. Take this class only if you have the need to sleep! Lectures are boring and you would fall asleep. If you take his class, just read the book and take the online quizzes and showup for the Exams. If you email him, you'll get a response 3+ days later. Exams are hard, you'll have to memorize the whole book.
boring guy...weekly quizzes are hard and require a lot of time...paper assignment is not too hard...he gives alot of choices...graders are great...lectures alot of ppl don't understand...take only if you have to or like this type of stuff...or don't mind being given a challenge
Hate the evil electronic book and quizzes! But lectures are interesting. 4 tests and an independent project, take him for intro. all intro classes suck, but he goes out of his way to make it interesting.
This professor is extremely difficult to understand. His lectures are long and really intense. His quizzes are online and require hours to get a decent grade, unless your a psychology major of course things are different.
Very boring. Download the PDF chapters from the website and open them up while you are doing the quizzes,alt-tab, and search for a word that is in the quiz question, it helps out a lot, but still read the chapter. His classes are boring and he rambles on. Has a good sense of humor and nice, but boring.
This class was ok. You need to do the independent project and all the online quizzes. Lectures for the most part are boring and you will probably fall asleep. Dr. K is always glad to help.

his class was fun, his funny remarks. study his guide and you'll do fine. his online quizzes were hard but you just gotta know how to find a way to do it a much easier way and you'll do fine. his tests were right out of the notes and his study guide. pretty okay class! dont skip or you might miss out. his extra credit, do it!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I got an A and I never listened and I skipped classes once in a while. He's a good teacher and he knows what he is talking about. You can take his online quizzes unlimited times, he offers extra credit, and he drops the lowest test score. It's honestly really easy.

I hated this class so much. He is a total bore. I just got tired and tried to drop the class at the last minute, but missed the deadline. Do not take it if you don't have to. I took this class as an elective and regret it. He talked about being able to persuade people and winning arguments by the time the class was through. ha!

GET ANOTHER PROF IF YOU CAN! I really did not enjoy this class AT ALL. Quizzes every week (HARD!), 3 tests, a final, and an independent study project. He uses the bell curve and lets you drop a test though. I got an A, but I do NOT recommend this prof. So much unnecessary stress from the quizzes...
Old guy, tries to be funny. Lots and lots of quizzes to do online. Interesting subject and I think he does a good job of explaining it to a class of 200 students, most of whom are not psychology majors. Wish I went to class more often. Lots of extra credit opportunities.

This class is fairly simple. You take the online quizzes and listen in class. Just like someone else said, the info is interesting, but the lectures are boring, it's obvious that he tries to be funny and places cuss/vulgar words through out the lecture to get us to laugh.

This prof is extremely easy. but VERY boring. You dont have to go to class, just read the book and keep up on the online quizzes (which you can take as many times as you want). Lectures are tedious, especially if you have TTh classes (longer). Textbook is electronic; you have to take online quizzes for every chapter; you can retake as many times as you want. Tests are actually easier than the quizzes. Offers extra credit for participating in psych studies. Do the media option for the ind. proj. Way easier: no paper.
I took the tape purchase class Cognative PSYC 3350. the tapes do not have anything on them to help you with the exams. The exams are pretty easy. If you read the books. This professor is very hard to reach. I have been emailing/calling him with no reply. So if you are good at working independantly and then taking an exam. He is ok. Rude..
study by the book and u will be fine. but i mean STUDY by the book and you will be fine. His lectures are boring on tape... didnt watch more than 2. I do recommend him. Tests are easier than you'll think if you study. He doesnt try to trick you. U will have to take him eventually so just do it ;)
His class seems like he is only grading your moral ethics. There are so many loop holes to cheat in his class and he tricks you into using them and catches you using them last minute. Cheat only if you know how, the only cheat that works is using the book with the quiz... don't use a glitch in the system or any other. His class os BORING

3 Exams + a Final &1 Project. The final replaces ur lowest grade out the bunch, which helps out a lot! Quizzes are frustrating in the beginning. [30 sec. to answer each question] GO TO THE EXTRA CREDIT LECTURES, ITS WORTH IT! Lectures & Online text are IDENTICAL! u dont have go 2 class.just take the quizzes, memorize & show up for the tests.
Hard boring teacher. Took his tape class and survived. He is straight from the book in his teachings. Does drop your lowest grade and gives an easy project. However, staying awake during class...issue! i would avoid taking him if possible.
Ultimately one of the worst professors on the UH campus. Largely unorganized with late feedback to emails. His teaching methods are poor to make an understatement and everything has to be learned from the textbook. He makes you spend money on his useless DVDs and course book. Do not take Kasschau unless you HAVE to, a waste of time and money.

Excellent teacher, if you are serious about your education. Slackers are the ones who complain about him. Funny, approachable, helpful, obviously smart. Cares about students who want to learn. If you value the quality of your education at UH and are willing to work hard, take this guy. You won't regret it!
he is really nice, and will help if asked. HOWEVER!: extremely boring class, relies entirely on textbook, textbook is a huge waste of money. i failed all the tests because i didnt go to class and didnt study, but i got decent grades on all online quizzes and an A+ on the project and got a C.
DO THE WORK ON THE ONLINE TEXT! I cannot stress that enough. The quizzes can be taken an infitite number of times, you just have to make yourself read the really boring text and take the quizzes if you want a good grade. Tests aren't hard, but material from lectures that isn't in the text will be covered.

He is a super super nice guy. Really cares about your progress in the course... if you just bother to ask! Very helpful when you ASK. He seems nervous when he teaches... but he knows what he's talking about. As long as you study the "Notes" version of the text you will make a good grade on the tests. DO your project & you'll do well!
3 exams and a cumulative final, easy project. He drops the lowest test grade. Took the DVD course. I recommend doing chapter outlines. Anything from text is fair game. Study it and you should be okay
His lectures do not correlate with the exams so just read off of the online text where most of the questions come from. Attendance is not mandatory but sometimes he gives extra credit if there is not a lot of ppl. But there is a lot of other extra credit so do it and do the project - very easy.
The tests are ridiculous, but I didn't really come to class that much. I did every now and then and the lectures didn't really help. But overall it's a "decent" class. If it wasn't for the extra credit and other stuff then it would be impossible. Take if you're willing to read incessantly and have good memory.
Took cognitive psyc - IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO BUY DVDs! If you read the chapters, the tests are a breeze. I Bs'd the project the night before it was due and got a C, but he drops the lowest grade (thank god). I still got an A in the class. All you have to do is READ THE TEXT, I promise you'll do fine.
Probs of Normal Life- just read the book and you'll do fine! The book he chose is actually really interesting and doesn't really read like a textbook so it's not so bad. The semester-long project is really important but isn't difficult at all. Definitely recommend for a psych elective!

He's not a bad teacher, but here is your WARNING: He has the worst online quizzes. You must know the online book word for word and then take the quiz. It's 16 questions per quiz and you have 30 seconds to answer each question. If you have other things to do in your life then don't take this class. Reading that NON REFUNDABLE online book is terrible
i took him for cognitive and normal life, both video-tape. it was extremely easy! i recommend his class to anyone who has a busy schedule or child. he responds to emails timely and grades tests timely. make sure you get things turned in on time and do the project. good classes!
Pretty nice guy, tries to make the lectures interesting by making jokes. biggest problem i have is that he does lectures by giving examples of key terms rather then defining them. So i have a hard time trying to figure out what each term means. Also it bothers me that he always tries to sell something, the book, and the notes, both are required.

don't take kasschau! he is boring and makes the class harder than it needs to be. Warning: if you write more than 5 pgs for your paper, they will stop reading at pg 5 and grade you on ONLY the first 5 pages! SO MESSED UP cause I had a good paper on nature vs. nurture but got a B on it cause I had 10 pgs.

His lectures are clear and straight forward. The only downside is that you have to pretty much memorize the textbook to pass those quizzes. If you have good study habits and have an interest in psychology then this class will be easy for you.
I don't know, but this class appears to be really easy at the beginning that it's easy to slack off, and then you end up so behind that its hard to catch up. If you are not a morning person, PLEASE DON'T GET THE 8:30am CLASS, YOU WILL FALL ASLEEP.And keeping up with your syllabus will help you lots. Also the online textbook. Hope this helps.
This class seems to be to easy, but it's not. The online text book is so boring, you have to sit at a computer and read, read,read. If you do you will pass but if you don't like to sit at a computer and read do not take this class. And you have to do an Independent Project.
He's a good professor. Knows his stuff well and can get boring but do something else to know you're not rude. Just keep up with the online textbook and you'll be good. Superb prof. Nice-so give him your respects. extra credit available, REQUIRED e-text which is confusing at 1st but extremely helpful when u get the hang of it. Some topics are quite interesting. Do the independent project[I volunteered] lectures with PowerPoint. He's a bit shaky, but he'll tell u why when you take him. I recommend taking him!

As long as you read and do the work, you'll be good. I took it as a distance ed course, so it's a little boring to watch the videos, but you can tell he knows his stuff. Do the independent project! It's great for your grade.
Do the Quizzes. I cannot stress this enough. Make time for them or they will eat you alive. Do the project. Honestly, if you set up class time for doing your quizzes every week you almost don't even need to go to class. All of his powerpoints are almost verbatim to the Psymple Psych book.
Funny man and teaches very well. Online quizzes are a must-do! Tests are SUPER easy IF you read the chapters, seriously. Like many of the others have said, you must do the quizzes and read. He gives a lot of extra credit, even a project that will replace your lowest grade! He's an old man that curses a lot and shoot, it's funny to hear!
Funny ass teacher! He is great with psychology, pay attention in class, and semi-read the notes and you are guaranteed an A in his class. Very easy!
Very easy but very long course..
Don't take his class if you can avoid it. His lectures are useless, there are quizzes on the online text book that are ridiculous, you have 30 seconds for each question and some are fill in the blank and you MUST spell it right to get credit. His test aren't as bad but still hard.
I took online Cognitive psychology and the syllabus was clear, textbook was very helpful. If you read the textbook, study and do the project, it's very easy to survive and thrive in the class. Professor has office hours and will take the time out to clarify anything you don't quite understand. Would recommend him to any motivated study.
He does not keep up with assignments, does not keep up with emails, and relys to heavily on his T.A.s
I think was literally .1 pts away and he didn't give it to me. His online quizzes were a pain in the butt to do. I fell asleep in almost every class and it's hard to take notes in there with his booklet.
Teacher seemed very hard and confusing at first, had trouble with online quizes, and test are very difficult but managed to still made a A. He gives alot of extra credit if you show. Very stressful class.

Prof Kasschau was an okay teacher, it's just his online quizzes were hard and stressful. Only 30 seconds for each question! Most of the students in the class ended up cheating by using the PDF downloads. He does give a project that lets you drop one test grade. His tests weren't too bad, in fact they were better than the quizzes!

OK so I liked him but I hated the class grading lay out. THE QUIZES WERE HARDER THAN THE TESTS!And they count for 50% of your grade. The other 50 is all of your tests combined. CRAZY. he does give ample extra credit so I recomend you do it. and stay on top of the text and online quizes cuz if you dont you will fail!
He's an alright teacher. Sometimes, he pulls off being a little funny. However, his class is an extremely easy A if you just do the quizzes and take the tests, of the four, he will drop one. :D
This teacher is not good at all. Quizzes suck and are HARDER than tests! No useful help from TA's and review sessions are not helpful. Class lectturs are soo boring!!! If you pay close attention and do the work, then you might get an A or B. But other than that DO NOT TAKE!
Very easy class if you do what is required of you. The quizzes aren't hard if you read the book beforehand and they really help in preparation for the tests and most of the test material comes from the blue book you buy. I loved his lectures and the guest speakers were awesome!
His lectures are boring but the class isn't too hard as long as you do your work. Technically you don't have to come to class because he teaches directly from the book. There is kind of a lot of work though, since everything is done in the electronic book and it costs $100. Tests can be somewhat hard but he gives a curve and I always got A's.
he's interested in what he's saying and it shows in his classes. he keeps the student's attention if theyre open to learn. hate the quizzes though!
WORST CLASS EVER I REPEAT, WORST CLASS EVER. The online book is absolutely ridicolous and completely outdated. You have to do stupid quiz's that don't tell you what the right answer is so you will never figure it out. He's nice but way too old. The book isn't helpful at all since its just powerpoint slides in a book!
Boring as hell. Lectures are optional, and really should be avoided. A fun game to play in class is "count the number of people still awake." Online quizzes from a nonrefundable online text are impossible, and require you to cheat (while taking the quizzes, open up a pdf file and cntrl+F the answer). Tests aren't so bad though, but the paper is.
Psychology is very interesting, but not from him! The lectures do not help at all. Half the class doesn't show up, except for tests. The electronic text book sucks! The quizzes are basically impossible to pass. After reading the text(and taking notes), It still takes me multiple tries just to get a B. take someone else.
Cool guy. Keeps the class interesting. I think I remember taking 3 test. He does give you plenty of chances to gain extra credit especially when a lot of people decide not to come. There is a project your choice of 4 options. Easy. There is no hard copy book. You have to purchase online & load it on your PC. Most UH PCs already have it. (Heyne)

I would recommend taking him for the online Cognitive PSYC. course. Yes, he's boring but you can listen to his lectures anytime you want before the exams and he curves ALOT! You don't have to study that hard to make a B and he drops one test grade. There is a creative project that can really boost your grade too!

This class was really easy IF you can read the material and study on your own. The text is very easy to read, but if you aren't able to read things and understand on your own take a different teacher. Dr. K is a jerk and really has no social skills, but I only saw him twice. I read the book and reviewed the material and made an A easily.

If all you care about is a grade, he curves a lot. If you want to learn, take a different prof. Lectures are boring. Repeats himself, gets lost, and doesn't relate things at all. Only able to learn from textbook. Test questions were obscure and couldn't review results. Online class was missing lectures and teacher never fixed it/responded to email.
his lectures aren't the most interesting, then again what lectures are. it is mandatory you buy the book he requests because all quiz material will come from here and will also be on the exams.
Dr. K is a really nice guy. I took him for Cognitive psychology in the summer. You NEED to READ the BOOK!!! If you study you will pass. Sorry, this is not a blow off class. P.S... he drops the lowest grade. BE CREATIVE FOR THE PROJECT and you will get an A!!
Ugggh hated this class. lots of friends told me not to take it but i went ahead and took it and ended up with a C...im an A student, so that pissed me off. I took this class online. Extremely easy! I've only listened to a couple of lectures, but you have to read the book! Tests were beyond easy, we got to skip 4 questions we didn't know. Easy A for any psych major!
Useless, may be good for higher psyc classes but useless for psyc1300. Boring, useless, and hard to understand. there were more than 450 students in my class 447 were on facebook while he was teaching. There must be way better teacher than him, but dont ever take him. Curves a lot, but its too hard to get good grades with curves in his class.
Please don't take this professor unless u want to hate pshyc. It was my fav subject but after taking 1300 i hate pshyc..online text is real hard..only way to pass it is using online pdf files on the website where the online text is downloaded in order to complete the certification quizzes. Unless you are too smart to mug up classes DONT TAKE HIM!
I have no idea how I got an A in this class but if you must take it know that it is hard to study for. Tips to survive : find study guides, use chapter PDFs, get 80 or higher on online book quizzes, and aim for B- on the project. Reading chapters from PDFs helps for both tests and quizzes alike, Green Book is useless. Good Luck if you take him.
Average prof, somewhat boring lectures, guest speakers were interesting, the online quizzes were annoying to keep up with, be careful with the final project. I barely passed his class, only made it thanks to the bell curve he uses for the test.
This is in no way an Introductory Psychology course, he makes it way harder than it has to be, he has a great heart and he is polite, but he cannot teach, the textbook is useless, the online quizzes are a joke, you only get 30 seconds to answer each question

I took an Intro to Cognitive Psych through distance ed. His classes are not easy. You have to read the book and buy his version of the notes. Definitely watch his lecture videos and play close attention. The good thing is he usually drops the lowest test grade.
First off, my interest prior to attending this class very high. However, this man makes this subject quite boring. I literally hate this subject because of this man. HE gets angry if you dont show up to class, but how can anyone want to come to class if he is boring. He needs to retire!!!!

I got an A, but it was pretty moderate to get it. Not mandatory to come to class, but expect to do several online quizzes a week and test are very specific and hard. i really hated this class, but managed with the one project he gives and drops one test. if there is someone else to take besides him, take them. he is hard to understand.
I dont see why people complain. He is very easy and the textbook quizzes were very helpful to me when it came to the exams. Plus the quizzes is half of your grade and you can take them many times. He curves alot!
Super nice guy and very knowledgeable, def. knows what he's talking about. Really glad I took him and def. recommend! Watch the videos and read the book and you'll do great. He gives 4 exams and one project that is fun and easy.
Ugh, I decided to take him again one more time. There's no doubt he is knowledgeable but he is so spread out in all that he does. Class was online, lectures boring, interesting subject. He royally messed up my grade and was quite rude and prolonged in fixing it. He needs to "jazz" up his teaching methods. Very boring, straightforward class
I had him for Cognitive Psyc during the summer. The YouTube lectures are not all that fascinating, but he's a nice enough guy. The material is presented to you a little differently on tests than from the textbook (he also requires his outline book to be purchased--it's like a summary of the content of the book). I'd recommend him, yes.
Had online summer course. Videos on youtube are tedious and long to watch. Book reading is a must. Creative project was easy, just be original. Never corresponded with him, only his TA who was helpful enough. Would recommend, yes.
Tried 2 take online.1 week into semester, class is still not on Blackboard, no communication from the prof (despite 2 emails from me), IT doesn't know. Youtube lectures--snoozefest. Dropped, sold book on ebay 4 what I paid. Avoid!! Prof has no respect 4 time/effort of others. Scrambled 2 add a sub class, now playing catchup. Thanks Kasschau!

Wow where do I begin? HE SUCKS! He makes his students buy an online text (because he wrote the book). Its freaking expensive,over 120 bucks. But you can buy a hardcopy online for only 99 cents. Even though it was written in 1985, the content hasnt changed. This shows how stupid and gold digging he is. Hes freaking sexy though :)

Lectures are completely irrelevant to the material. He talks abt intruding raccoons & is also ****ed. I think I fell asleep more than half time.. No study guides or anything.

Lectures were of course dull, I didn't bother reading the book as I new from 1300 that it was useless. He does make you buy the book he wrote...profiter. Messed up on my project grade, refused to correct it despite ta ensitance. He then told me that I needed to change my e-mail address to something different...rude
Boring. Useless. Rude. Quizzes are ridiculous and frustrating, promoting cheating. Sure he curves so it's easy to pass, or even make an A, but not without ripping some of your hair out in frustration for a freshman class and learning NOTHING. Is it worth taking when there are plenty of easier and more interesting substitutes like Sociology? No.

His lectures often run long and he will move back quizzes and tests as a result. He's really bad about making announcements because he does it in the rush of students leaving and he doesn't have a working website. He will only answer questions during his review sessions, no help on what will be on the test. I stopped going and am making an A.

This class is exactly that. Intro. A lot of terms and the class is sadly boring. He knows his stuff though. Do the quizzes and study the review behind every chapter for the tests. Project can be easy if you pick the right one. I missed some days of class and still passed with a good grade.
I dropped his class because it was clashing with my other courses during tests. The quizzes are ridiculous, honestly. You get like a minute or less to fill in the blank, and I had a really hard time figuring out how to work the stupid "book" in the first place. I really don't recommend him, but I was only there for about a month. That's my 2 cents.

Worst professor that I have ever met at the University of Houston. Has complete disregard for students. He forgets much and the University would be wise to force him into retirement. In my opinion, he is a compeltely useless member of the psychology department.
This is by far the worst porfessor I have ever had! He did not follow the syllabus that he published himself in his book that you have to buy. The tests are okay as long as you read the required chapters. The first test of semester was pushed up a whole week due to his error and he did not care. DO NOT TAKE HIM AT ALL!! VERY UNORGANIZED!
Do not recommend at all. He never responds to emails. He's not helpful at all. His lectures rarely make sense. He never lets you know important information ahead of time. You have 4 tests, a project, and a final(cumulative). He really is just not a good professor.
I never paid attention in his lectures. The book is more help. Quizzes are hard because it's timed. Even though he's not that good of a professor, he gives an excellent extra credit opportunity at the end of the semester.

Nice professor but class is extremely boring. I'm majoring in psychology and even I found this boring. Tests were so easy and grading was easy. Keep up with online quizzes and you don't even have to show up to class. I showed up for 10% of classes and still passed with an A+.
His lectures are not informative. You can just read the online book and pass. His tests can be a bit deceiving. Though he does have some humor and tries to entertain. He isn't very organized so keep up with the online quizzes so that you don't accidentally miss one.
Kasschau can't lecture if his life depended on it, very unorganized thought and incomprehensible. He has a quick temper, and super paranoid of people cheating. He makes you pay $120 for a workbook and online textbook that's virtually useless except for occasional quizzes and the last two workbook pgs. for the independent project & extra credit.

Online class...He's harmless. B or C class. Ok if you only have 2 classes but don't take if you have 3 or more classes. Must watch several hours of lectures, doesn't have power points, you may fall asleep. You'll teach yourself in this class. Ok if you don't like face-to face time with professors.

Honestly. The lectures were worthless. I never went to class but still got an A. Here's how: 1) Make sure to get 100s in all the quizzes, there is a way, just ask around since I can't put it on here. 2)Read each chapter thoroughly and take good notes because that's what the majority of the tests are over. 3)Do the extra credit, it HELPS! Easy A!
No doubt he knows what he's talking about but this class is a WASTE of $120 of book/workbook,getting an A or B is not too hard do the quizzes might take several time to do and read the online text and take advantage of the extra credit. If you have an option to take another teacher take the other teacher and save you some stress. An A is attainable for this class his quizzes are worth 50 % I made a B but made A's on the quizzes and most of the test how he came to B?? I don't understand

This is a easy yet complicated class. It's fairly easy to make an A but the steps getting there will make you frustrated. He's disorganized, bias, and moody. Everytime I talk to him he was always had an attitude and disregard my questions. WOA: do not take him.
do not take this professor! the quizzes he gives are extremely hard! and there are three test through out the semester aside to the quizzes he gives out! i managed to get a B in the course, when i failed all three tests but did really good on the quizzes which btw there is a way to get passing grade.
The chapter quizes are the most important part of this class. Do well on them and you will do well in the class. Also, do well on your independent project and he will drop the lowest test score. Quizes are enought to study for the exams. Ask questions during his office hours, as he rarely responds to emails. You will work, but the grade is worth it
This was the hardest class i've taken so far. He is completely unhelpful and leaves you in the dark. The quizzes are ridiculous and are due before you even cover the material. I would not recommend this class to anybody!!!
Took the online class. Watched only the intro videos, studied the book carefully, easily got an A. Dr. K gets things mixed up a lot, but he's a very nice man. He's poor at email; best to go by his office. Don't be afraid of this class. The book is excellent so if you're willing to study, you'll do well. No extra credit, but all grades are curved.
At the end of the semester I visited his office a lot wanting to know project & test grades & he was so unorganized that he could not give them to me, so when I received my final grade it was a complete surprise. I highly recommend not taking this course because the material is never clearly presented and your grades will suffer because of this.
I rarely went to class because it seemed like everything he lectured over was pretty irrelevant when it came to the quizzes and tests. The quizzes are really difficult and will require you to take them a billion times before getting a decent grade. He seemed like a nice old guy, but I don't think I'd take him again.

I took him online. We had an extra credit project and he lost it or as the TA said "misplaced it." Soo thankfully I took pictures of it when I was done. Had to go through alot to have him change my F final grade. He is very disorganized and old. I would not recommend this old guy to anyone unless you really have no choice.
His lectures are incredibly boring and NO ONE goes to class. All you have to do is keep up with the impossible quizzes (there's a trick to getting a high score) and study for the tests. Other than that, he has a temper and looks and thinks like a grandpa.
This is the worst class i've ever taken. the professsor is an old fart who cant lecture without the whole class falling asleep. he even fell while holding his cat in one hand face first. he is very boring and the class is really easy to pass if u know how to pass the quizzes. he is most likely the inventor of psychology due to his old age.

Not a bad class, it'll get irritating at first that you don't understand what he is saying and easily get bored and want to leave or just ignore him and play on your phone. Extremely boring class and lecture. The semester started with over 500 people in his class, and ended with only about 80 showing up.(Extra credit was never rewarded) I learned better from the online textbook then going to his lectures. I wouldn't recommend taking his class.
His lectures are completely pointless. He's by far the most unorganized teacher I have ever come across. He delays deadlines and is so rude. A lot of his assignments can be found through the Psymple Psych book + his online book = so expensive. Keep yourself informed.
If you suffer from text anxiety, I strongly urge you to no take this class. Each of his online quizzes give you 30 seconds to answer each question, and the fill in the blank portions are impossibly specific. Not to mention, the quizzes count for %50 of your grade. It's horribly stressful, unnecessarily so for a freshman class.
I don't know why so many people hate him. It wasn't the most exciting class but Dr.K was a good professor.Sometimes he could be rude, but that's with reasons. This guy is frankly really boring, but isn't horrible. AS long as you read the book, do the quizzes, do the project, and study for the tests, you'll do fine. Sure it sounds like a lot, but it isn't an impossible class. He is unorganized, but does sympathize with the student. Simply be informed of everything before it's due, or your screwed.
The lectures are very boring and quite useless in the big picture of the class. As long as you read the book and study the notes from the book, you will do fine on the tests. the first day of class and before class even started I was pretty excited about learning Psych. Then from there everything went downhill. the speakers were more interesting than him. If he is the only available teacher for psych that current semester, i advised you to take it next semester from another teacher.

WORST TEACHER EVER. even though he curves a whole lot, i still made a C in his class. pscyhology is supposed to be a fun subject but he made it hell for me. his quizzes are impossible. He's the worst. If you want to enjoy this class, do not take this professor.
Took cognitive. He is a nice man, but not on top of his game. More than a little unorganized and the lectures are hard to watch. I gave up after the first two, stuck to skimming the text book before the test day. Honestly should have not made an A, but he gives ridiculously helpful curves. Final project is super easy.
Not an easy class. I remember taking this class back in fall 2010 and the professor wasn't very helpful. The chapter quizzes are tough and timed. The book is required. Really if you have a choice I recommend you pick a different professor because this one is probably the most unorganized and boring one you could possibly get.
Kasschau is not all that bad. During the semester he will grate on your nerves. His organization skills are the worst and his TA's aren't that much better. It is a strong possibility that he will lose an assignment of yours so keep track of your stuff. He is however very welcoming during office hours and happy to answer any questions you have.
He is good, not the most organized though. he grades fairly... just read and do the quizzes you will be fine!
Terrible lecturer, unorganized, and he makes you buy his book with his software. If you can take psych with another teacher, DO IT!
You'll have to drop $180 on books. I love psych and I found his lectures incredibly boring and simplistic. The tests aren't based on lectures at all- they are taken entirely from his book and as confusing as possible. He does curve, but on the first test 90% of the class technically flunked. I'm an A student, but this class was just frustrating.
Dr. K is a good psych professor, but this class is a bore. His class is somewhat easy, tests are straightforward, and mandatory purchase of online txtbook is required. Quizzes reopen at the end of the year, and worst test grade is dropped. Missed class 35% of the time, still made an A. :) Just keep up with the readings and online quizzes.
he's okay. the quizzes were hard at first, but you just have to look through the online textbook. The exact answer will be in there. You get unlimited tries I think, and you can see what answers you get wrong. Test were a bit hard, but I still passed it, and he gives a curve. Study both textbook and quizzes. I made a B

Dr. Kasschau indeed has a love for psych, but he desperately needs to retire. I can never hear him during his lectures, his slides do not make any sense, and he skips around in his own textbook. For the longest time, I could not get a decent grade on the online quizzes (which do nothing to help you learn the material). I have yet to take an exam.
Worst prof. ever!!! dont take him. His quizess are word for word from his book so must memorize his book. Goodluck reading 1 chapter 10 times or more to memorize word for word!!!!
Unless this class is mandatory, don't take it. He's awful, boring, and very hard to follow. The class isn't difficult as he curves re-opens his quizzes, but if you plan on attending his classes, you'll fall asleep. Luckily, the course isn't difficult if you keep up with readings. One test is dropped and they aren't too bad.
He really needs to retire. His age affects the clarity of his voice therefore its very hard to understand him in a class of 500 students. In order to really gain knowledge in the subject it will be up to you to look into the subjects online and in the book. DO NOT RELY ON HIS LECTURES.
I don't care what anyone says. Kasschau is helpful when you ask him questions, he opens up all quizzes at the end of the semester, and his tests are straight from the quizzes from the online textbook. Those who find this class hard obviously aren't trying.
this professor is the worst. Do NOT take him. He is not helpful in the slightest mumbles like an old fool, and never tells you when ANYTHING is due and you pay entirely TOO much to educate YOURSELF.
Might as well get an online course. Going to lectures is pointless, makes it boring and its hard to actually learn that way. Really the online book is what is really used and its what is covered in the exams.
Really boring, and pretty pointless to go to class. You can't understand he's saying, and the tests only use the book anyway. Quizzes are a little annoying, but not too hard. I just think he takes the class a little too seriously, considering that most people only take the class because they have to. 40 hours on a final project? Really?
Dr. K is a nice man outside of class, but not easy to understand in class. He seem to love his subject and teaching it, but he really needs to retire. Don't worry about going to class, but you must use the online textbook and take the certification weekly tests and the ?? as you go through the chapter really helps. Take someone else if you can.
Bad teacher. I can never hear anything he says. Always mumbling and the only time he raises his voice is to yell at the class for talking. You can get an A without going to class. Very boring will fall asleep. Guest speakers sometimes interesting. Do online quizzes. Read textbook.
You do not have to go to class. You have to do these online quizzes every other night basically. Those are your grade, but he never tells you about them... He expects for you top buy his book; it is expensive; however, you never use it! The only thing you use it for is on one of the front pages is the syllabus. Do not take if possible!!!

I would not recommend taking his course. While he does demonstrate great knowledge in his field, he does not demonstrate the clarity that a Tier 1 university professor should display. He fails to communicate deadlines, tests, and quizzes clearly, and the textbook is useless. Before his class, I was very interested in psychology. Now, not so much.
Nice guy, but not the best professor for psychology. His lectures are boring and attendance is not mandatory. Make sure you read the online book and do well on the online quizzes. DO NOT slack off on the independent project either!
I didn't attend class, and I used "control find" to get a good grade on the online quizzes. He takes forever to post the grades from the exams. The independent project was easy...follow the instructions on the independent project and you will receive an A on it. I did not think the class over all was that hard, and I thought I did well on my Exams.
Kasschau... the first time I took his certification quiz, I freaked out. I literally retyped the notes version of the online textbook to help me pass those quizzes. Three tests and a final. Study the online textbook. Everyone wasn't ready for the final(he told us the wrong day). I made an A for the class-- Thank God!
He is very unorganized, gets back on grades late. There are 4 exams he drops the lowest one. You have to buy his book because those are where you take quizzes which are a pain. There is a independent project you have to do. His lectures are hard to understand because he speaks so softly. Honestly if you have to take psych take it with someone else
3 Exams & 1 final. It's all about memorizing the online textbook... I made tons flashcards in order to get an A on the exams. The online quizzes are the hard part. I still went to class just so I could learn although it wasn't mandatory. Overall a tough class.
Im only giving him 4 for everything coz i want guys to read this :) YES he is a horrible teacher BUT, i got 2 C's and 1 D outta 3 tests and a C on the paper and took the quizes over and over and made a 50 (not hard if you look up the online book) i made a B+ in the class when i was scared i was going to fail the class, the biggest curve i ever had
Lost my paper as well as several other students, and although we turned one in he said it "didnt matter" and when we asked if we should check back another day to see if the papers turned up he "didnt care". At least 1/2 the class couldn't hear his lectures, assignment due dates kept changing, leading to a lot of confusion.
Ok I'm going to be completely honest. Going to class is not mandatory but you do have to attend sometimes as he changes dates for things due. Also you have to turn a couple things in during the course of the semester. Cheat on the quizzes and make sure you have an A average in those. Study before test and you should have an A
Worst teacher ever! He needs to retire. 1) he can not teach. 2) He loses papers. 3) He messes up with student's grade each year.
Don't even bother to show up to class its pointless. Read your online book and do your quizzes to get a B on the test which is pretty much an A because he curves the test scores so much. I cant stress this enough.... KEEP UP WITH YOUR GRADES/PAPERS!! If you cant find your paper or test score after everyone else got theirs back, he lost it.
Very dull professor. It's hard to understand his thought processes, as he tends to lose the interest of the students very quickly. Tests aren't bad if you do the homework. Relatively easy A. Tries to be humorous to lighten the mood, but often falls short of a mild chuckle.
Dr. K is nice, but his class is terrible. i only come to class for the extra credit, in which he gives when the attendance is low. if you want to pass, just focus on the online book/software, the book he makes you buy is worthless, but mandatory. no organization AT ALL. you can skip all u want and still pass, just read the online book
The only good thing about this class is that there wasn't any attendance. I learned few things from his lectures when i went, reading the book helps. If you don't get your paper when everyone else does, it's lost forever like that sock you never find. He had to correct my grade a semester later. Got a B so not that hard.
Awful professor. If you stand in the back of the classroom all you will see for the kids that actually go are sleeping students and web surfers. No one is actually paying attention. Only went to keep up with the always changing deadlines. Tests are so standardized. The online reading quizzes you can take as many times as you want but are HARD.
For the love of anything, do not take this prof. He is unorganized, rude, careless, irresponsible. His quizzes are timed and very hard. His tests are also standardized and very hard. You would have more fun staying awake during open-heart surgery than in his lecture. He constantly changes dates w/o informing you. No way to check your grade either.

No doubt he is very disorganized but everybody complains when this is actually a class that you never have to show up tp but can still easily pass. He only give online quizzez that you can use pdf's for and get an easy A. He curves his test grades tremendously which makes it almost impossible to fail. And you have 1 independent project. NOT BAD
He is just not a good teacher
Very boring teacher. No point in going to his class, the entire course is based off of the textbook, which is online and confusing at first. Changes deadlines and misses class frequently. If you do the quizzes, you'll do just fine in his class. I do not recommend him as a professor if you want a good lecture.
He is an AWFUL professor! He is hard to understand, extremely boring, and his lectures do not help one bit. He does not stay on topic during the lectures and class attendance is not mandatory. His "textbook"is some old computer software that really sucks. His quizzes are extremely difficult and there is way too much reading involved. DO NOT TAKE!!
He shows up at least 10 minutes late to class everyday. The only time you can actually hear him during his lectures is when he is yelling for students to be quiet. He does not stick to his syllabus and changes things without notifying anybody. He was rude when I went in to his office to ask for help. Just don't take him, please.
DO NOT TAKE. He is so so so terrible. I am not one to usually one to rag on teachers, but he was so terrible. So unorganized. He never informs or reminds you of deadlines. You don't learn anything. Never had such a terrible teacher.
Attendance wasn’t mandatory. Didn't use blackboard or use his email. Bad communication regarding test dates or other due dates as the syllabus is always changing. For the last week or so of class he was out sick and didn’t teach us for the last test. You take the 3rd exam and final on the same day. Book is online. Quizzes are hard. Dont take him.

Decent professor if you pay attention and are not lazy. Class is super easy and almost guaranteed an A if you are some what dedicated to your studies. Although I would not recommend him, like I said it is super easy to get an A.
Do not take this class. The professor mumbles a lot and you can barely understand him. The quizzes are hard but there are PDFs online available. Luckily, there was a huge curve to the tests. There is an independent project but the class is really boring.
Not really sure why everyone hates this guy. I thought his class was enjoyable and not too difficult, and he was nice. You must read the textbook; everything comes from it, including review questions helpful for study. The syllabus is in his written book, and it changes, so make sure to keep track of things he says in class. Grading is on a curve.
This is the worst professor I've ever had. Never knew when anythings was due and his directions are unclear. I went to all but 2classes and I learned nothing, and didn't get the attendance credit that was promised. The online tests only give you 30 seconds per question, but you have unlimited attempts. The only upside is that he gives huge curves.
The worst class ever. He was in the hospital for quite a bit of the semester, and even his TAs didn't know what was going on. Due dates were not clear, and I taught myself based on his old lectures on youtube. Waste of my time. Thank god for the biggest curve on the face of the planet. You have to buy his book and syllabus. Stupid. Never take him.
Mandatory $100 textbook. 17 online quizzes w/ unlimited attempts (free 100s), quizzes are half of your grade! 3 tests 1 final, and 1 essay. Drops lowest test and has huge curves. Easily received an A but you need to read his textbook which has free audio too.
I showed up to literally 3 classes and pretty much slept through those too. I didn't study for any of the tests including the final. On the first 2 tests i got 25/45. I did the project the day it was due. For the online quizzes pull up the pdf of the textbook and use control f. I spent about 3 hours total on this class the entire semester,got an A.
I got an A in this class, only because of the massive curves he gives BECAUSE EVERYONE FAILS. I failed every test, but with the curves I got B's on everything. Then the final grades were curved again. Even though I got an A, I would NOT RECOMMEND this class to ANYONE. I would not wish the headaches this class gave me on my worst enemy...
Worst class of my life. I only took it cause I had to. if you can take another teacher. I got a C on every test and about a B on all of the quizzes and a B on the paper and somehow got an A. NO CLUE. but his teaching is horrible. hes old and is hard to understand. theres just better professors
