Dr. Watt is an excellent mentor he takes time to meet with you if you need help. I went to him with chemistry questions even before I took a class from him. He is very approachable and cheerful.

Dr. Watt is incredibly helpful and legitimately cares for your success. He has always taken time to answer the questions I have taken to him. He also customizes his tests to make sure only material he has covered is on it. There are occasionally difficult questions, but he prepares you for them very well. Overall, great professor.

He really cares about his students. He pushed our homework back when had a test that week. When he writes his tests...they are fair and test you on what was covered. However, when he uses Dr. Woodfield's they are impossible. I definitely suggest taking it from him. P.S. he gives out extra points for being on time to class.

I can't imagine having taken Biochem from another professor. Dr. Watt was the best chemistry professor I had at BYU, and one of the best professors overall. He taught directly from the book, which was very helpful; and he noticeably cared more about us as students than the course. He tailored the class to our interests. THANK YOU DR. WATT!

What a stud. Makes Chemistry seem like "taking candy from a Baby!" It's that easy. Seriously though, I changed my major from 17th century Sculptured Art and Poetry to BioChemistry.. Worth every moment. TA's are what made the class though.

He is a very inspirational dude and just wants his students to learn biochemistry and love it. I have never rated a professor on here before but I felt like I should with him. If you get a chance to take biochem from him, do it! The TA's were helpful and he was also. Read the assigned reading.

Dr. Watt is jam packed with knowledge and he has a true passion for what he does! His lecture may get long at times, but if you have focus, you can learn a lot. Be prepared to understand the material and apply the things you learn in class and in the homework; he wants you to truly apply what you learn. Dr. Watt is one of my favorite professors!

Best Chemistry Class I have had at BYU thus far. He didn't focus all his time on mechanisms and make tests extremely hard like other biochem professors. I would highly recommend taking him for biochem, he focuses more on MCAT prep and the class was helpful.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Dr. Watt is the most inspirational, spiritually strengthening professor on campus. It's like a mix of taking BioChem and a religion class at the same time. He is very fair to students, and tries to make it possible for all students to get an A.

Professor Watt truly cares about his students and wants us to succeed in his class and in life. He offered lots of easy extra credit opportunities (ex. go to Sub Zero for ice cream) and never tried to trick us on the tests. There was homework between each class- but it helped solidify material and never took more than 40 minutes. Great intro class!

Dr. Watt is such an amazing teacher and person! I have never had a better teacher in my life. He is great at teaching chemistry and explains everything very clearly. He also is a spiritual giant and will share great uplifting messages daily. I would 100% recommend taking his class.

Dr. Watt is a very talented teacher. People complain about Mastering Chemistry, but it is actually really helpful. It prepared me for the tests. Dr. Watt also gives easy extra credit. He explains concepts very clearly and offers a lot of spiritual insight at the same time. Grades are not too exam heavy.

Dr. Watt is one of the nicest professors I have had. If you want a free A, he is a great professor to take. If you want to learn Biochemistry really well (ie, for the MCAT), I would recommend another teacher. His lectures consist of stories and tangents. The only real learning comes from diligently reading and studying the textbook.

I loved this class! The TAs were amazing and Prof. Watt made lectures entertaining with his chemistry jokes and explosions. There were many extra credit opportunities and they were simple to complete giving a good cushion for the final. He is really passionate about chemistry and the gospel. And I learned a lot.

He is THE BEST professor! He gives extra credit because MasteringChemistry can be weird with grading. He is SUPER willing to work with you. I was in the hospital midway through the semester around midterm time and he was flexible with my assignments. He connects chemistry concepts to the gospel and is honestly the best teacher I've ever had!

I'm so grateful I took this class from Dr. Watt. It had been years since I have taken chemistry, so I was really nervous. But Dr. Watt helped me to understand things. He explained things in a way that I could understand. Dr. Watt found a way to bring spirituality into every lecture. Homework due every class, but not outrageous amounts :)

Dr. Watt is a good professor to take introductory chem from. He has clear study guides and provides a lot of info on the equation and formula sheets that other professors would make you memorize. He offers a few extra credit assignments. Definitely manageable if you stay on top of homework and go through the study guide.

THE BEST! Prof. Watt is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. He is so sweet and nice, and he really explains things and wants his students to succeed. If you have a basic knowledge of chem, this course is not hard at all. Plenty of extra credit and dropped low scores. I got a better grade in this college class than high school AP chem so yeah

I'd taken this class before with a different BYU prof, and got a grade I was unhappy with. Professor Watt is much easier to understand, and his tests are much much easier. He's also very kind and understanding. You need to keep up on the homework, but in general it's not too hard and his lectures make concepts clear.

Dr Watt is a great professor. The class was really hard- he used to be too easy so the department made him beef up the class and he was still trying to figure out how to do that. He explains well, is approachable, understanding, spiritual and kind. Inspires you to be a better person.

Professor Watt is such a great guy!! His lectures are good and he really cares about his students. Lots of homework but its not awful, and there is lots of help available. I-Clicker quizzes are graded in class, and lots of the content is explained clearly there so attendance is essential. He is always willing to help out and wants you to succeed.

Make sure to take advantage of the extra credit he offers. Sometimes he doesn't finish his lecture on time so he rushes the last little section, but he's pretty good at explaining chemistry.

I LOVE PROFESSOR WATT! He is a fabulous professor who genuinely cares about you and your success. I felt the spirit more in this class than in most of my religion courses! He is constantly bearing testimony of what he knows to be true. It is a difficult class as any CHEM class should be but it is not impossible to get a good grade. Would RECOMMEND!

He was a great lecturer. The classes moved at a good pace and he answered questions well. There is this online hw called mastering chemistry which has flaws but he gives extra credit to make up for points lost. Tests are straight forward. The Chem 101 TAs were awful, so I would recommend going to Watt's office hours instead.

Watt is an amazing professor! Chem can be a difficult topic for me to grasp, but he helped me understand the topics being taught! Reading the textbook before class was SUPER HELPFUL. There are quizzes at the beginning of every class. There was a lot of homework, but it is easier when you work with others on it!

I really enjoyed his class. He gives very clear expectations of what is on the test, and even lets you look at test bank questions, which end up being about half of the test questions. If you just take the time to study, you should take his classes. Great guy.

Dr. Watt loves biochemistry and is totally obsessed with any reactions that have to do with iron. Despite his enthusiasm, the lectures are hard to follow and understand. I had to teach myself just about everything. His tests are all multiple choice, but go from A to I.... Be ready to memorize a lot. Difficult, but doable class.

Professor Watt genuinely cares about his students and offers all the resources to help them succeed in his class. He offers extra credit and a lot of hw points so the tests arent worth has much. The hw is minimal and he assigns an adaptive learning for hw under a B so you get the most points possible. He makes chem easy and involves his students.

Dr. Watt is a softy for the gospel and always ties in what we're learning about back to it. He offers extra credit for going on dates which can make a letter differencein your grade! This class is challenging but manageable. Make sure to have a buddy to go to the labs with.

Dr. Watt is so great! He uses TopHat for his lectures, so they're all available after class. If you have to miss class, you can follow along and take the quizzes from your computer or phone. The class builds, so if you don't get 1 concept down, it can hurt you. HW between lectures that can take an hour, labs every other week. Tests get harder too.

Amazing man. Makes sure you learn. Cares about students. Gives extra credit, has a give away question on all tests. Top Hat quizzes every class so show up. Make sure you understand the past lecture b4 going into the next one. Demo every class. Math is used about 1/2 way through semester. Test reviews b4 test can be helpful but slides get sent out.

Dr. Watt LOVES chemistry and never failed to make me laugh in class. There are in-class quizzes so showing up to class is mandatory. Homework is due right before every class online, so make sure you stay on top of that. (Also, completing the homework really helped me understand concepts, I would get lost in lecture often). Extra credit is easy!

Professor Watt really cares about his students. He understands when his tests/quizzes have been particularly difficult and offers extra credit to make up for this. He includes stories and his testimony into his lectures and you can see how much he loves Chemistry and the gospel. So grateful I had him as a professor!

There are homework assignments due every class and a lab due most weeks, but it is a very manageable class, and he offers lots of extra credit opportunities.

He's passionate about chemistry and the gospel. Super genuine guy. I'm a senior taking this (normally) freshman class and I was nervous because chemistry isn't easy for me. I made sure to thoroughly study & I did well on exams. Homework is harder than exams! Exams cover basic material from lecture, not the complicated exceptions on the homeworks.

Professor Watt is caring and considerate of your time. Homework is due before each class, but is usually not too difficult and he drops the lowest ones. The tests are multiple choice and aren't too challenging is you understand the material and have been paying attention. Pretty much just a review from high school Chem.

Dr. Watt is super funny and he's a good teacher. He is very dynamic and tries to make lectures interesting. Homework is assigned with each lecture but it's helpful for his tests. He provides lots of easy extra credit for doing things like taking a picture of yourself eating a donut.

Dr. Watt is one corky dude, haha! He does not hide his inner nerd. But you've got to love him! A big teddy bear. He is slide-heavy, but he tries hard to make the class fun. Use TAs and the textbook and keep up with the homework and you'll do well. He would be a fun guy to do research under. A solid choice!

He gives several opporunities to earn extra credit involving food (double if it's done as a date)! There are weekly labs to complete and daily homework to complete online about the previous lesson. If you struggle he is willng to help, but be sure to ask for it before you're completely lost. He uses Tophat for daily attendance points.

This was such a great class! Do everything you can to get Dr. Watt your professor. The homework load is super manageable and the content is very easy to understand. Hardly read from textbook, only used for practice problems. Go to his office hours if you need help, he is a great guy. Exams weren't terrible, just make sure you do the reviews.

I was terrified to take chemistry but Dr. Watt is amazing. He really cares about what he teaches and wants you to succeed. GO TO OFFICE HOURS they are life saving and don't be afraid to reach out to him or his TA's, they really help.

Dr. Watt is by far one of my favorite professors I've had at BYU. He explains material really well and tries to make lectures fun with class demonstrations and jokes. Homework is due before the next lecture and theres an easy quiz each week. Tests and Final aren't too bad and he does offer different opportunities for extra credit.

The homework is on mastering chemistry and it's kind of annoying but he drops the bad homework grades. The best thing about this class is the extra credit! It's super easy to do and bumps up your grade a ton!

Professor Watt is the most caring professor. He and his TAs make themselves available for help almost every day. The class itself isn't too difficult but make sure to pay attention during the lectures (those practice problems are very useful). The homework is definitely harder than the test, so you're prepared for every test.

Prof Watt is great. He's so sweet and finds ways to bring in the Spirit which I loved. Hw load isn't bad, takes about an hour for each lecture. We use Mastering Chemistry which can be super specific/weird but Dr. Watt offers loads of ex credit to make up for it (they're super easy). He made something explode every day which was cool! Good class :)

Professor Watt is so sweet and the class was really great. The homework is online and can be really specific, but he offers a lot of extra credit so it all evens out in the end. The homework generally takes about an hour to complete, but it's harder than what will be on the test so as long as you can do the homework you should do well on the tests

Dr. Watt is so kind and very reasonable. There are 2-3 homeworks due each week but they arent too bad and they help raise your grade. He also gives out a few EC assignments and he has amazing TAs! He is super willing to work with you if you need help and teaches clearly & incorporates the gospel in really helpful & awesome ways!

Dr Watt was such a good Teacher! He is easy to understand and really cares about the students. It is usually large lecture halls but he is always good at making sure everyones questions get answered. I would definitely take his class again if I had to!

Prof. Watt is a really nice guy and honestly could feel the love he had for us. I don't feel like the lectures were very helpful in terms of depth needed to be successful on the tough exams. If chem isn't your thing like me, you'll definitely need to do a solid amount of outside work to be successful, ie. go to office hours and TA reviews.

Dr. Watt is hands down the best Chem professor I have ever had. I have a disdain for chemistry due to the rigors of the material itself, but Dr. Watt made class enjoyable and I looked forward to his class every day.

Assignments include: one homework assignment per class and weekly 5-question quizzes. He is absolutely phenomenal and always wants students to succeed. No question, best chem teacher. And I've had so many. Recipe for success: do the homework right after class and go to office hours if needed.

I would sum up Professor Watt in three words: kind, caring, and smart. He really wanted everyone to succeed and you could feel that in every class. He made up so much extra credit you could do (and it was stuff like treat yourself and get ice cream or get 8 hours of sleep etc.) He also blew up a lot of things in class so that was fun :)

Professor Watt is amazing! I absolutely loved his class. Chemistry is a hard thing to learn but he is really good at explaining it, especially if you're a visual learner like I am. If you do the assigned reading before class and do the homework right after class you will be set. The exams are tricky but there are study guides.

He was super good at explaining the tough concepts and keeping us engaged during class. He was super caring and super supportive. There is quite a bit of reading, but honestly he covers everything from the readings in class. Would definitely recommend, especially if you aren't super confident in your chem skills cuz he will definitely help!!

Dr. Watt is a great guy and so funny. His lectures though are confusing and I felt like I got more out of studying on my own than attending the lectures. The homework load for this class is also very tough. There is a ton of extra credit so that saved my grade haha. This was my first chemistry class of my life so I was confused the whole time.

Professor is the sweetest man alive. I love how he connected the gospel to his lectures. The homework in this class is pretty time consuming though. I spent around 3 hours a day or more. But if you do the readings and Mastering Chemistry homework you'll be good. If you work hard it shows.

Great guy, one of the best professors and classes I have taken thus far at BYU. Encouraging and clear. Do good on the hw and do the extra credit. For tests, make sure you really know the concepts and the necessary calculations. Its mc and written portion. Lastly, there are a plethora of TAs to help you.

Professor Watt is truly the sweetest guy, and he makes it very apparent how much he cares about his students. He provides a ton of extra credit. I felt that his lectures were not very helpful though, I went to every lecture I could and felt that each time ended up having to cram and re-teach myself the topics before the tests.

Watt's is seriously the nicest guy. Loves the subject, loves the students, and does a really good job of bringing the gospel into lessons when he can. Tests were pretty straight forward, and even if you don't do great he has 10 easy extra credit assignments you can do to boost your grade. Homework website was kinda the worst, but we made it work.

Dr. Watt is great in lectures but often it's hard to get everything from the lectures. you definitely need to do the reading and go to TA hours because they help a ton. You can tell he loves chemistry and he wants you to succeed so there are a lot of extra credit opportunities.

I don't like chemistry, but I did like Dr. Watt. He is extremely wholesome and genuinely cares about the students. Assignments and exams are pretty fair. He offers a lot of extra credit which is super helpful-- and for things that are not actual assignments, like "taking care of your mental health." He really does want everyone to succeed!

Watt is the best. Chemistry is always going to be difficult, but I think anyone can get an 88 or higher if they want it. He offers SO MUCH extra credit-he really wants you to succeed. I didn't always read the textbook and was totally fine. Homework everyday-frequently 1 hr+, but if you actually do it, it will help you so much. Take from Watt.

He is an amazing teacher. Both he and his TAs care a lot. The material can be hard but if you show up to class, study the online textbook, and do the homework you should be fine. I love Dr. Watt! Content is really similar to what I learned in high school but still challenging at times. Just stay on top of the homework and pay attention in class. He is so sweet and kind, lots of extra credit opportunites. Weekly quizzes could be taken twice. Weekly recitation was kind of pointless, but you get extra credit for going.

If you are going to take Chem 101 YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT FROM WATT!! He is the best professor ever!! Attendance isn't mandatory and he records his lectures in case you miss a class! There is so much extra credit opportunities and he is so understanding and easy to work with!!

Dr. Watt is an adorable old man who makes the class entertaining! Chemistry can be hard sometimes, but he's AMAZING at simplifying material. Be warned of the TA's. My TA made me cry lol. He co-taught the class and had a difficult time coming down to the level of us students. Dr. Watt gives so many extra credit opportunities! Bonus exam questions!

I can't say enough good things about Prof. Watt! I can't tell you how many times I came to him during open hours and he was always willing to re explain things 100x if that's what it took for me to understand. He truly cares about his students. Dr. Watt doesn't make Chem 101 hard: there is so much extra credit opportunities. Read the textbook, go to classes, do the homework, and study before the test. With the extra credit, you'll get an A easy.

SO GOOD! Made chemistry a fun class and truly cared about you as a student. Weekly recitations were there to do practice quizzes and gave us extra credit just for showing up and working with the other students. It made chemistry doable and fun!

honestly, i didn't love how dr watt teaches, BUT the class is so well organized that it's really easy to learn the content. there's a ton of extra credit. read the textbook! 3 hwk assignments/week, 4 exams (not curved but the extra credit balances it out). the tas are awesome- super helpful!! take advantage of the tas. great class!!

Prof. Watt cared for his students, did cool experiments, gave EC, and brought the spirit. With minimal chem background, homework was very difficult and I had to reteach myself almost every concept. I spent 10+ hours a week outside of class doing the assignments and readings. However, Dr. Watt helped review concepts & TA's were a valuable resource.

Chemistry with Dr. Watt became one of my favorite classes that semester. He made lectures fun with cool experiments, by always being enthusiastic, and by engaging with the students. He gave many opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. It was helpful to read the textbook before lecture to be prepared.

Dr. Watt is amazing! I took him for CHEM 101. He offers a lot of extra credit. The only thing I didn't like was the software used for homework. Get ready for some awesome lectures.

Dr. Watt is a super awesome professor. He provides lots of extra credit opportunities, more than any other class I have taken. You have multiple attempts on the homework problems. The textbook is online. There are 4 midterms and a final which are not super easy, but if you put in the work, you'll be ok. Highly recommend if you have to take CHEM 101

Professor Watt is an amazing Professor! He gave SO many extra credit opportunities, and made class interesting. His class was difficult, there were 3 midterms along with the final. This is definitely a class you need to spend a lot of time studying for. Textbook available if you need for help with what you're learning, along with good TA labs.

Dr. Watt makes this class engaging with cool experiments and an enthusiastic teaching style. The workload is manageable with weekly assignments and multiple exams, plus lots of extra credit opportunities. unstuck study and the helpful TAs are great study resources to have.

I loved Dr. Watt! He genuinely cares about each of his students and has an army of TAs ready to help whoever needs it. There was so much extra credit in this class it was insane. He always tries to make lectures as easy as possible because he doesn't want this to be a weeder class. If you take Chem 101, take it with Dr. Watt!!

Nothing against the professor, the class is just hard for no reason. He is amazing! Gave extra credit to go on a group date to an ice cream place near campus. The class is hard, but he and his TAs give the resources needed to succeed. Grades are determined by a couple of test and some of the questions aren't discussed in class.

Obviously chemistry is a hard class, but Dr. Watt made this the most enjoyable class I had all semester! I loved being in his lectures because he is so passionate about chem and makes it really easy to understand the material! I would 1000% take another class from him! He cares a lot about you and its very kind.

Take Chem 101 from Dr. Watt!! He is literally the nicest guy ever, and he made this class so awesome! He wants you to succeed and gives a ton of extra credit! The TAs are awesome and going to their recitations and reviews made all the difference! If you go to class, do the homework, and go to the reviews you will be totally fine!

Dr watt is definitely the best person to take chem101 from. This class is hard don't get me wrong, but the TAs can help a lot with that. There is 3 exams, 1 final, daily homework, and weekly quizzes. He also gives SO MUCH extra credit. He also does fun demonstrations in each lecture. study hard for the exams and dont be afraid to ask for help!

Dr. Watt is an amazing professor, and I am glad he offered extra credit. He will give you plenty of tips to succeed in his class too. Use them! He is accommodating if you need extension or extra help. Go to the TAs for help if needed. You don't need to go to your assigned TAs either. Some of them understand the concepts way better than others.

I really enjoyed this class! It is relatively easy, but not so much that you don't have to work. He is a very generous grader (gives lots of extra credit) and is so smart and sweet. The only issue I had with the class was actually the TAs (several weren't super knowledgeable on the subject) but other than that this class was really well taught.

Dr. Watt is amazing! Chem is a challenging class but Dr. Watt always makes class fun and is super generous when giving out extra credit. He genuinely cares about his students and the TA's are great too. Homework's are very long and the material is lecture heavy. TA reviews helped a lot.

I do not like chemistry at all, but Professor Watt made it much more bearable. The lectures were engaging, and he included an experiment in almost every class. He gives plenty of extra credit which can save your grade if you don't do so well on an exam. It's It is not an easy class but if you put in the work (and do the easy EC) it won't be so hard

He was incredibly passionate about what he tought and in turn had amazing lectures. He had lost of demonstations to make the material easy to see and understand. Explosions, State of matter changes, yoga(???), etc. about 45 minutes on average for each lecture(MWF), and about 45 minutes of homework after each lecture.

Professor Watt is the most caring professor that I have had at BYU. He is so genuine and understanding. He gave extra credit opportunities that helped my grade a ton. Chemistry is always tricky, but Professor Watt made it a lot better.

How could you not love this prof? Dr Watt takes care of his students needs, explains concepts crystal clearly, and has beyond helpful office hours. He doesn't view the class as a weeder, he wants students to appreciate chemistry. hated chem 105 but did so much better in 106 thanks to Dr. Watt! 106 is a dreaded class— Dr. Watt works to fix this.

Dr Watt is awesome you can tell he really cares about our success, he gave our class 2.5% of extra credit. Class average was 83% but some skewed it down, 40/100 students got A/A-. Sometimes the textbook felt useless to read, and the lecture material was all over but there are tons of resources out there to help. Go to the TA lab and you'll do fine.

I took this class during the summer, and it was good. I would actually recommend taking it during the summer. The tests were fair for the most part, and lots of people got A's in his class. While chemistry is a hard subject, I think the TA recitation is super important and helpful. Knowing the equation sheet will get you an A with practice.

I don't think a single lecture went by without Dr Watt setting something on fire. Great chem class with tons of easy extra credit.

Sweetest Professor ever! I HATE chemistry, but I loved Professor Watt so much that it didn't even matter! His tests are completely multiple choice, and he never throws you curveballs. He also offers a crazy amount of extra credit that keeps your grade afloat. His lectures are very engaging, but totally optional. Take this class from Professor Watt!

I really enjoyed Dr. Watt's class! He kept his lectures very engaging and was always willing to help his students. Exams aren't too hard and there are a ton of extra credit opportunities. Lecture attendance isn't required, but weekly lab attendance is. Overall a pretty easy class with lots of resources if you're willing to put in the work!

He is such a great professor, while it can be a difficult class (I failed half the exams), he gives so much extra credit and is willing to work with you! I still managed to get an A.

Chem 101 with Dr. Watt is amazing! He provides numerous extra credit points and is understanding about grading. Lecture's aren't super helpful alone, but with recitation and homework are great! TA's have great insight on exam questions, and their recitations & reviews are critical. So many resources to receive a good grade, this class is great!
