Very energetic and knowlegable instructor. Encourages a lot of class discussion. Requires hard work, but it pays off.
This Prof. is great! He really enjoys teaching & getting the class interested. I learned a lot!
This instructor is one of the meanest, rudest and most uncaring profesor I have ever had. Never, never ask him a question, he'll take it that you are attacking him. Talk about a butt hole.
The online class format he designed was too confusing. Takes too much time to navigate. He should follow the format of other universities such as Park University or Columbia University.
There is alot of reading and self discipline for the online class. If you are motivated, you will do fine. He is a wonderful teacher and supportive of his students.
Dr. Knies was a great teacher. His online sociology 101 was very interesting. If you do all of your assignments you can expect a good grade.
Dr. Knies is very supportive. His keeps it interesting. If you do your work you will do fine!
This class was just a big advertisement for UNLV. From his UNLV email to the biggest assignment of the semester practically requiring you to be a UNLV student to complete. The librarians on both campuses hate him for this particular assignment. I was encouraged by faculty from both schools to complain about him to the dpt chair. Very vague, also.
Worst professor ever! I took his online course, which was laid out very confusing. I asked for help and he just directed me back to the syllabus without any clarity! One page said an assignment was due one day, another page said something else. Stay clear if you want to pass!
This teacher is a tenure and he does what he wants. He fails all his students. I took his online class. He is the worse online teacher I have come across. He is not active in his online class. His assignments are not clear. He never answers emails. Stay awsy from this teacher if you want a good grade.
Good professor. Online class. If you put the effort and turn in the assignments, you will get a good grade. He usually is not critical as long as you have the work done. Quizzes strictly from book and no final exam :) He wants his students to succeed as long as they want themselves to succeed. i'd recommend this professor.
i have taken him for multimule classes and he is the best teacher i have had in college period, and im a junior at UNLV. He is understanding and extremely helpful. If you are a dedicated student and do the work you will recieve an A. i hope that i have inspired some of you to enjoy these psy classes as much as i did
I took a class from this professor a few years ago. I found him to be very tough and very uncompromising. He was a real hard-nose and even if you proved him wrong, he insisted he was right. He is very full of himself!
He is a great teacher. If you are looking for an easy A this is not the class for you. This class requires a lot of reading and a lot of work but I had a lot of fun. The assignments were really fun and easy but they required a lot of time.
He is a very tough teacher but I learned a lot from him. He is a fair teacher. If you do the work you can pass his class.
Mr. Knies is a great teacher. Very helpful and seems to like to interact with his students. I took the 3 week online summer class and there is ALOT of reading, but if you do the readind and work you will do fine. Exams are hard, but answers are all in the book. I would take his class again.
I took the 3 week online class and even though there is ALOT of reading I found Mr. Knies to be very helpful. As long as you read the book you will do fine on the tests as all the answers come from the book. I would take his class again, but perhaps not the 3 week class. I was pretty much married to that book, great for those who don't have job.
He lacked tact and was very rude and indignant. We ask for teachers to assist in the learning process, not hinder. He would not elaborate on any questions. Wouldn't admit when he was wrong, even if the Class knows he was incorrect. Thumbs Down.
I took 3 week online course. Class isnt hard, just read the book and you'll do fine! Lots of reading, but test are strictly from book.
At first I thought it was impossible to finish all the assignments. I managed to do all the work and got a good grade. The course was an accelerated course-it wasn't easy. I found Dr. Knies to be very fair.
instructions are difficult to follow, when you get them break them down into paragraphs. You have four posting you need to do (Original thought, 2 RLC questions(1 question per article), 1/2 responses to classmates. Quizes are 60 min on 40 question of the READINGS NOT THE TEXT BOOK, they are HEAVY on the reading scan the book and ctrl+f the answers
I just took his 3 week online course that he somehow extended to 4 weeks without telling us. He didn't make a single response to anyone from 12/28-1/12. How do you go missing for 2 weeks in a 4 week course? Not very helpful, refers you to a vague course outline if you have any questions. He treated me like I was dumb for asking a question. Got a B
Loved the class! I didn't have much interest in sociology but he influenced me to want more studies on the subject!
just dont. this man is a disaster. he will call security when there is no matter of security if he sees a cell phone.its happened in multiple classes. this man is intolerable.
He is tough and that is no joke. I took the 8 week hybrid class and got an A. As long as you keep up with the assignments and READ THE DIRECTIONS you will pass his class. Going to take his 210 class in the fall.
Class was horrible online. He did not help or post lecture notes. Didn't grade hw so you were never sure how you were doing. Ridiculous number of quizzes that were very heavily weighted. The hw took too long and was not worth many points.
I took the 4 week online Sociology class. The instructions are there, he gives you a syllabus, there is a ton of work, so you have to manage your time. I feel he was a great online professor and he always answered my emails in a timely matter. He was helpful and gave good direction. You have to be self motivated in the online class.
Took the online stats course. Started out ok. Too much busy work! His tests were terribly hard even with the use of the book. He assigned group projects online including one that required meeting in real time. That's ridiculous for an online course. Someone always gets left out. He doesn't grade the weekly questions in a timely manner.
Took online class because I work nights. Had to drop class because an exam on a Friday. Too much real time involvement for an online class. No response from email requests.
His class is TOUGH! It is a lot of work, but he is almost impossible not to like! Statistics is just a hard class..outside the general stuff. This was a 12 week hybrid class...just be prepared to study! He was FUN.
Challenging class!12wk hybrid, lots of material to cover. Dr Knies was very helpful in explaining and demonstrating the statistical equations. Lecture was half of the class, lab was 2nd half. Staying for the lab was extremely helpful!Answered emails promptly, found him to be very fair and reasonable. Studying is a must! Enjoyed his class, thumbs up!
He dosen't respond to emails with anything useful. He refers you to a page number in the book. (Which if you have already read is useless) His exams are quite long between 100 and 150 minuets for 50-75 questions. Up until this class my lowest grade was an A-... needless to say I am re-taking this class with another professor.
OMG, This class was so demanding. This was a 8 weeks class. The papers and discussions were very challenging. I hated his class at first because, he was so arrogant, and rude. He didn't give clear directions on papers but, Overall it's up to you to do the work. I passed the class with a B. So, If you like challenges then, I would suggest this class
This class is only as tough as YOU make it. Seriously, people? You're in college now. If you do the work and think critically, then you will pass. This is not a cake walk class, and he makes it very well known from the beginning & makes no attempt to pull any punches. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and I learned so much.
Took class online. Class not friendly to those with a frenetic work schedule. All about having group chat sessions and activities and grading heavilly on your participation--which is acceptable if you're a full-time student, not working 14 hour days. Avoid this instructor for online classes.
I had this professor for PSY 210 and 240, both accelerated, and both online. He quickly responded to all my emails and had no problem clarifying concepts that were more difficult. I received an A in both classes. I work full-time and have a family, but had no problem keeping up. He is very fair!
This guy tells you how difficult his course is from the start. I took him online in an 8 wk course. His answers to your questions sound like they are in the form of a riddle, and the workload is tough! If you stick this class out until the end and do all of the work the way it is laid out in the syllabus, you will not fail!!
Knies is a very genuine person, but his class is DIFFICULT for those of us who have no interest in Statists. Even those who do still have a hard time with his tests. The tests are straight from the book & what we learn in class is NOT what is on the test. Approach this class as if it were ONLINE because it is mostly YOUR job to learn it. GOOD LUCK.
This class was online and an accelerated 4 week course. This class is very demanding but I'm happy I took it. The prof is very helpful and clear in his expectations from the beginning. If you can handle all the work due in 4 weeks you can easily get a B. (he states that not a lot of students get A's.) He is very fair and will help if needed.
I took his SOC101 as an accelerated 4 week course. The course load is intense, but if you have the time it requires it's worth being done with in 4weeks. He also gives very clear directions of how he likes papers and online forums done. If you follow directions and put forth effort, getting an A isn't hard. I ended the class with over 100%.
This class is easy IF you are good in math. I took this course online during an 8 week period and received an A. like i said if your good in math, the math part will be easy, make sure you attend class because it will help greatly. He gives extra credit opportunities. Easy to approach & friendly!
Tough but doable. I did 12 wk online. If you are not great at math either you will be frustrated or just accept this as an opportunity to further your math skills. But be careful in what other classes you take at the same time. If I knew what I do now, I would take this in class. Dr Knies is pretty nice though, will help you if you ask.
Took 12 week online class. The class is difficult to grasp, especially if math is not a strong subject. He lets you know right away it's not easy. Pros-class comprised of quizzes, article reviews and two optional extra credit assignments-no midterm or final. Cons-lots of math! He's a fair professor and responds to emails timely.
I took Spring smstr Stats online.Do *NOT* expect help or mercy online, you're on your own. Much busy work. Tests clear and simple IF you know the material WELL. Answered emails, but not always helpful. I imagine he's charming if you're an A student, and brutal if not. Seems nice, but your opinion/thoughts unimportant. Tough, fair, unavailable.
I took the 4 week course online. I was nervous about the amount of work that was going to have to be done, but if you stay on top of it the course is not too bad. Very enjoyable course and Prof. Knies puts everything clearly and easy to understand!
Excellent teacher. You must be self motivated to take this class. Course is laid out in a very organized way. Professor is easy to get in touch with through email. This is a class you must stay on top of it will be very difficult if not.
I took 8 week online/hybrid course. We met once in person and in an online classroom the remainder of the semester. Relatively easy if you go to class. Weekly tests and discussion problems. Helps if you read the book. Very helpful during class, and at answering emails. Stay on top of work, and it's not too bad.
My feelings are that this professor intentionally made this class more difficult. No assistance other than the textbook. Useless website reviews, and chapter questions to answer. Online 12 weeks. Very difficult exams (4), take twice if you have the endurance. Exams are 100 to 150 minutes long. Unless you are great in math. I do not recommend him.
Course was accelerated. You have to be motivated. The professor was very nice and answered all my questions. He gave assignments that were due weekly and there were quiz's pretty much every other week. The best part was you can take the quiz twice. Also a 1/3 of the quiz questions came from the study guide and the online textbook study material.
This is a statistics class, meaning it's going to be hard regardless of the teacher. There is a lot of math, and he expects you to figure it out using the book, and help from your peers. I would say the class itself and the professor are great, but statistics itself isn't a pushover. Be warned.
Stats is hard there is no way around that but Professor Knies is fantastic. He is always readily available to speak with you. The discussion board was so fun to do every week. His tests are straight to the point. If you studied you will do well. Don't try and skate by in stats. You will only hurt yourself in the end. Take Knies you wont regret it.
Professors like Knies make stats bearable. He is straight to the point. Study and you will do fine. Stats is hard; there is no skating by. His exams are not for the faint of heart; they are pretty long but if you know the material you will get through it and do well. Knies is fantastic. If you actually want to actually understand stats take him!!!
this class was an easy. A little confusing to navigate the online page at first, but if I had a question he was very helpful. If you do all the assignments and apply a small amount of effort and A is no problem. He alo opened up all the quizzes toward the end for a retake. Good and easy class I reccommend
This class was easy but if you don't keep up with the work, it will be hard. This class was a self teaching course and you have to read the book. Short class so pay attention. Other wise, he's awesome
I took this SOC 101 class for my CRJ requirement. I did the first 4 week session and right from the beginning he is very clear that the class is demanding obviously because it is 16 weeks of material in 4, he is very clear and very helpful, responds pretty fast. This class is doable, you just have to be disciplined, if I can do it so can you.
I asked him about a problem that I was having with the online system and he said that it was impossible and basically accused me of cheating. So I would say not very helpful. Class was pretty hard, work wasn't terrible if you read the book and studied, though I like math. I didn't know it was accelerated because it gave me no warning so beware!
Do not take this professor, he never tell you the answer of the quizzes. seems to me he is trying to sell the answers of the quizzes not teaching. I do not understand why he never post the answers.
Great class, but tough. I took the four week class and it is clear from the start that it is very demanding. I know I deserved my grade because I really worked for it. very interesting and doable just stay focused and don't try and cut corners.
The subject itself is rough. 6 major exams (they get harder every time). Prof Knies always gives feedback. 2 weekly assignments, 6 exams and 2 chances for extra credit. Lots of reading. Don't fall behind. Each chapter requires knowledge about the previous one. It is a hard class, but I recommend Prof Knies and I enjoyed and LEARNED a lot.
I took the four week class online and it was super easy as long as you did your readings and turned everything in on time! Definitely worth getting it all done in a month. I am in 5 other classes also online and it was easy to juggle them all along with this one. Great professor and gives good feedback!
Statistics is tough, period. But Professor Knies does his best to make sure you understand the material. He will help you if you ask for it, but he still wants you to figure it out for yourself. You have to be self-motivated, and make sure you read the syllabus and instructions carefully and you should do just fine.
Class seemed a little advanced for undergraduate stats. Not recommended.
I took the online 4 week course and it honestly wasn't as bad as I thought. Reading the syllabus had me slightly nervous he does stress its a lot of work (and it is). If you stay on top of your stuff and READ you will pass. 150-200 pages a week to read. I work full time and am an around the clock single mother and was able to pass this course!
Dr. Knies is awesome! This was my first online class, and I was scared at first. There's a lot of reading. But it's so worth it cause the articles are entertaining! Such as cannibalism, the effects of the army, social issues, electrocuting people; it's a great read! This class is manageable, and the syllabus is EXTREMELY clear. Loved this class!!
Thought the class was going decent until he accused me of cheating due to passing each assignment without difficulty. Said that he was going to report me to the dean if I did not drop out of his class. Apparently I'm not the first student this has happened to. Had to withdraw because of how big of a mess it became from arguing. WORST teacher ever.
Took his 12 week online. He was very clear on his expectations. He gave extra credit that could be done weekly to help boost your grade. Online practice problem every week along with extra credit if desired. There were 6 quizzes. The quizzes were long and not easy but he gave you two chances to take them with the highest score kept.
Quizzes are very HARD, make sure you keep up with your reading DO NOT FALL BEHIND, ask if you don't know, do every EXTRA CREDIT (this might be what helps you pass) he's willing to help you which is nice, each chapter builds up to the next chapter so make sure you know whats going on.
Honestly one of the WORST professors I've ever had, I have never got anything lower than a B+ and i barely got a C in this class. You read the chapters over and over and then theres a test that makes no sense at all and no matter how hard you try its sooo hard and frustrating.
Teacher gives good feedback. Class can be difficult because is online and stats is hard, but the internet has a ton of videos and tolls to check your work that helped me. I also bought the digital version of the book from cengage, it was a great help because it come with audio that you can listen 2 instead of having to read it. DONT PROCASINATE.
Psychology Statistics is in general a hard class. He is fantastic his assignments are straight forward and his extra credit is amazing. The tests are hard of course but you get more then one try. He is very understanding and he tries his best to help you. The book is useful! Its an online class with stats it is hard but its not impossible!
Weekly homework, test, and group post. You have to use the textbook and stay on top of reading to get a decent grade.
Professor Knies and its online class can be quite intense with long stats message. The online class is difficult since you have to learn statistic by yourself especially to know the formula and its concepts. You really need to read and practice. Also, if summer, do not take too many jobs due to this intensive class readings.
Overall the class was okay it was a lot of reading the book to be ready for the quizes I took it during the summer and it was nice to not have a midterm or final exam. It's an overall tough class to take be ready to study.
This teacher is a joke and horrible believe the people who says he will threaten to kick you out class never again will I take any of his courses
Get the textbook and read/study it! The textbook itself is great and explains things very well. There are always YouTube videos to help too. He's easy to get a hold of and will explain anything to you. Do the weekly discussion boards and extra credit!! EC is easy; no reason not to! Do the weekly homework, study the formulas, you'll get an A.
Stats is difficult, we all know that, but Prof. Knies does not make it any easier. You basically teach yourself from the textbook. If you are great at math then this would be an okay course, but if you are scared of math find another instructor. He is slow to answer questions, and I was more confused after he explained things.
Dr.K seems to get the short end of the stick here in the reviews. You WILL NOT succeed in this class unless you read your book and devote time to understanding the work. Everything is a building block to the next chapters. He was always available to answer questions and he was a real gem. I appreciate the time I spent in his class.
This Class was the Best. The Professor is a GEM. I took his Psy 210 8 week course. You must read the book that is mandatory. Theirs comments saying he accuses people of cheating, those are lies I would see classmates who would copy and paste work. It is really noticeable when you cheat the Formulas aren't even the ones from the book! Can't deny it
Professor Knies is one of the best professors I've ever had. This is a HARD class that requires a lot of studying, but Professor Knies gives detailed feedback on your work and gives a second chance if done incorrectly. He also gives an optional extra credit opportunity every week that can really help your grade.
I was ready to drop this class after the first lectures because I was certain it would weaken my GPA. The professor, gave extra resources and responded to promptly to emails with detailed feedbacks. The professor is willing to go extra miles to help students. He is the best professor I have had at CSN so far.
Statistics is a very hard class. Like extremely difficult if you're not that good at math. The professor shares a pdf with the book so at least you don't have to buy it, but that's all he does. He also has powerpoints but it's hard to teach yourself on your own. One discussion per week and 2 quizzes. 1 exam every other week.
I took the 8 week summer course Professor Knies gave about 3-4 assignments each week, a weekly discussion and two quizzes. Occasionally an exam. Professor Knies drops the lowest grades in each category! He sends important emails to remind you of due dates and he strives to try and get students to acknowledge each other within the discussion post.
Prof. Knies is wonderful. This class was the hardest class I have taken. I was so confused about the exams and quizzes, but I met with him several times on Big Blue Button to go over the material. He was always happy to help and explain things to me better. The discussions were a nice way to supplement our learning and extra credit helps too.
Stats online is very hard but Prof K does not make things easy. You teach yourself from the text and the slides online. If you are really good at math and know stats this class is for you otherwise find someone else. He does not understand we do not have any math yet and will not help with "basic math". No real office hours for help just online.
Professor Knies is very responsive, reasonable, and cares about his students. The quizzes were really hard, but the optional practice problems helped a lot. Besides, he gives two attempts and two extra credit opportunities. Use all of it and stay on top of the work! Drops lowest grades in each category. The stats textbook is free. He is the best.
He can't make you LOVE math, but he does build a community! Taking stats was very enlightening, and the only thing he *manually* grades you on are discussion posts, which is really just posting study material for you to share. One discussion, two quizzes per week and he drops the lowest exam scores. Overall, Ms.Frizzle is a tougher grader than him!
quizzes and exams are not proctored. not work heavy. Not every question is a math question. some of them are more definition based. If you don't meet the criteria on discussion posts, he'll comment and let you know what he needs more of. two tries for quizzes and exams. took it for the summer. class isnt terrible. You can at least pass with a C.
Intro to Statistical Method. If you like statistics, right on! Engage, Engage, Engage. Study, Study, Study! He gives feedback and answers punctually.
The class I took was an 8 week course, I am a full time student and it was totally doable. Just don't fall behind. I loved Professor Knies class, he is so organized, direct and offers a ton of resources to learn the material. All quizzes and exams are open book, so there's no excuse to fail this class. Just do the work and you'll pass!
This class rarely has weekly assignments. It focuses a lot on tests and weekly quizzes which makes it easy to manage if you're looking to take this as a full time student.
