AVOID THIS GUY. he's horrible
Took Human Geography with him. There was a lot of work, but it was one of the most interesting classes I've taken. His presentation is great; I've got narcolepsy and he kept me awake.
definately one of the hardest classes i have ever taken but he is so passionate and knowledgeable about the material that he can keep geography interesting. i would definately reccomend him to anyone, you just have to be prepared to work hard.
Insanely hard class, insanely nice, intelligant guy with a cool accent. There is a ton of work but the class is super interesting
He assigns so much work and covers little of that in class. If you do not like to do obsessive amounts of work on a topic you are not interested in then dont take this class. Also if you feel like teaching the entire course to yourself take this class because he doesnt teach the important stuff.
Everyone says this is a hard class, it is not. All the stuff he assigns is like 1 or 2 page readings and you only do 1 chapter a week in the text book. He is awesome and really funny. If you are a good test taker then take this because like 3/4 of the grade is 2 tests and a few quizes.
THIS CLASS WAS DEF. THE WORST I HAVE EVER TAKEN...KUJAWA ASSIGNS WAY TOO MUCH MEANINGLESS WORK, BUSTS YOUR BALLS AND EXPECTS WAY TOO MUCH OUT OF YOU FOR A 101 LEVEL COURSE..AND HE DEF GIVES THE MEN MORE OF A HARD TIME THAN THE GIRLS IN GRADING AND IN CLASS. thanks for the "F" RK
Hard but so much fun! Really funny guy, extremely intelligent. Lazy students won't like this class; smart ones will thrive! This is the kind of teacher you expect at a hard school.

really nice guy but rails you on the tests. Asks questions in a way which make you relate other things. He charm is deceiving he will sink your ship without blinking an eye
All the stories you hear about Kujawa being really hard, well they're mostly true. Either way, if you are a good student and are willing to do the work you'll get more out of his classes than any other professor here.
Hardest teacher I have had at St. Mikes. While I was taking the class I hated him but when it was over I realized I learned a lot. He is a walking encyclopedia.
Hard, learned lots, great guy to boot...what else is there to say?
Dr.K is the best professor I've had so far in my college career.
Hardest teacher i've had so far. He knows a lot, and you learn a lot in the class, but the quizzes and tests are rediculous, you have to memorize every little detail to get good grades on them... He's a funny guy, but the class is so hard
He's really demanding. He gives wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much work. It's as if he thinks that we are not taking other classes.
He is an outstanding professor. He loves his subject and he makes it interesting by providing up to date real world events that correlate to what you're learning. The class is difficult but if you put in the right amount of work you will do well. There are many readings assigned and I advise close attention to detail in those and in lectures.
Not as hard as everyone says. If you simply do the assigned reading, read the chapters, and listen carefully in class with good notes then you should be all set for the quizzes and tests. Also Pay good attention to the e-college site. Great teacher, very enthusiastic and smart. Dont listen to what everyone says. You learn a lot from the class.
Kujawa is the man!!! He is my favorite prof. At first i was not liking all the class but i sucked it up and really enjoyed the class and prof. Kujawa. He is very helpful and is a very nice person in and outside of class.
Ridiculous workload.
Avoid this guy...
Extremely helpful, really fun, very smart. You will work hard in his classes but you will learn a lot. Even if you thought you weren't interested in geography, his classes will wake you up and make you think in new ways.
It's been a while. He was intense, fun, and helpful. Stingy with grades but very fair and open about the process. To do well you must do the reading.
challenging, fun and engaging. Helpful on assignments -- just ask! Slackers need not apply. Fair warning.
Solid. I learned a lot but had to work hard in the class.
Organized on ECollege. Tough exams but you get to bring in a cheat sheet on the final. You'll learn a lot in this class but you've got to work.
Awesome.
Fun class. Gets you thinking. I wrkd hrd in the class.
Kujawa presses you hard. Lots of outside of class work -- reading, listening, viewing. Class itself is a blast. Hard grader but helpful. What college should be all about.
Kujawa is demanding - you really have to put a lot of effort into this class but it is entirely worth it! It's a very interesting class. He is very willing to help if you only ask. I was excited to got to class every day.
Knows his students. Keeps class moving and uses current news stories to engage us. Challenging -- no doubt.
Enthusiastic about geography. Did a lot for me in how I learn/write/think. Generous with time. Funny but serious.
High expectations. Somewhat strict. Time management of class a problem sometimes. He knows it though.
Good guy but has his own view of education and it involves WORK. He's testy about sloppy writing and worse if you don't cite your sources properly. Don't expect a high grade without really grinding this one out from day 1. As others have said he's fun but his view of education is not for everyone. Topics are mostly interesting. He's a techno.
Awesome. I still think about things from that class. At the time it was hard but looking back.... worth it.
Interesting. Lots of outside work. Ask him questions! Visit his office! No soft touch on grades.
Although there was a lot of work involved, the professor was very helpful!
Don't take any of his classes. He expects everyone to treat his class like its what you want to do for the rest of your life. Worst class I have ever taken
Not for babies. Study the reviews and see him for help. Do the Optionals to boost your grade. I did. It worked.
Kujawa is hard and there is a lot of work you have to put into the class. It certainly isn't for everyone. But, I have had few professors who were are friendly as he was outside of the classroom. Good guy, hard class.
Tell's it like it is. Helpful but expects you to take responsibility. Tough grader.
A bit intense for me. Good support outside of class. Keeps things moving in class.
THIS CLASS WAS DREADFUL! DO NOT TAKE IT. AVOID THIS MAN LIKE THE PLAGUE. IF YOU DO NOT DO EVERY SINGLE ON OF HIS 100 PAGE READINGS FOR CLASS HE WILL KNOW AND MAKE DUMB SARCASTIC COMMENTS AND GIVE YOU DIRTY LOOKS FOR THE REST OF THE COURSE. I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!
The people who like this class must not have any street smarts whatsoever. This is a classic scenario of a professor thinking that their class is the only class at the college. Anyone that writes about how great this class is probably can't make it in the real world. Swine Flu would be better than taking a class with this guy.
Not sure why these guys are so mad. It was pretty straightforward for me. He was quite helpful out of class. It is a challenging class but not impossible. Workload is consistent -- no 100 page readings when I took it? Interesting topics as well.
Goes out of his way to help his students. Forces you to take responsibility -- that's good, right? Helps his students even after graduation. He's fair but def NOT easy. You figure it out.
Expectations for work/effort are the highest I experienced. You learn a lot but it's so challenging. Pay close attention to eCollege and just don't get behind.
Check in with him before you take the class. He lays it out -- take a look at the book, the assignments, check out his ECollege site. I did and he did what he said he would. Clear on expectations and helpul for you to meet them.
Brilliant man!!One of the best teachers in the history of higher education. He'll teach you more useful information than every other class combined (especially stuff useful for the real world). His knowledge exceeds that of any professor at St Mike's. His work load weeds out the meek, ignorant, lazy, prideful, foolish,(business majors j/k lol
Hard class. One tip: read his week in review sheets.
I wasn't sure at first but I've grown to really like the class. Energetic in class and the material from class has helped me with other classes. Hard grader but willing to review quizzes, exams and papers with you. He won an award this year.
Kujawa is a bit odd but clearly loves to teach. Workload isn't too bad if you do it as it is assigned. Exams are tough -- you have to REALLY prep. Interesting topics and links to news stories. Solid class. Nice guy.
He was a terrible teacher and gave an incredibly large amount of work. Most of his readings were pointless, but if you're interested in human geography go for it, but if you're not it's better not to take the class
If you don't want to work DON'T TAKE THE CLASS. He's pretty fun inside of class but quizzes and exams are hard. Interesting topics and tons of connections with the real world.
Just work hard. Take it seriously and adjust to his teaching style (which involves work, engagement with work, and work). You will def. learn a lot. Don't whine.
More than ten years out I still think about lessons from Geo classes at SMC. Worth the work. Still in touch.
Kujawa is a tough professor. Be prepared to WORK in his class. His quizzes and tests honestly aren't too bad though if you do the reading, take notes, and pay attention in class. Also make sure you memorize the countries for map quizzes! Easy way to help boost your grade! He goes off on tangents A LOT...
Kujawa is a tough teacher, but he will push you to do better work than you thought you could. He is fair and listens if you have a legitimate complaint or concern. He was one of my most influential teachers.
Didnt like him as soon as he told us a story about how he wouldnt stand for the singing of the star spangled banner at a flyers game when he was first in the US (hes british) got a beer dumped on him...serves him right...why would u ever tell students that
I took both his Human Geography and Urban Geography classes in 2003 and 2004. I am now a third year (honors) law student, and I can confidently say that his classes are harder than law school. It's his assessment methods. 100 pages should not be given for one weekend followed by a 9 point quiz with one word answers. But he is interesting.
SMC just changed to a 4 credit system, but this class should have been 6 credits with the amount of readying assigned for every class. Attendance is a must! Out of two 100 page readings for 1 class, he will only cover a little. Be ready with notes and make time to visit during his office hours weekly if you want to get anything better than a D+.
Challenging in lots of ways. Professional and supportive. Funny at times.
Expects a lot but is generous with help.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. It is extremely difficult and his grading scale is horrible. If you fail one quiz, your grade will drastically suffer. Not helpful, rude, expects us to teach ourselves through textbook. Exams = HARD. 100% DO NOT TAKE.
Really liked the class. Learned a ton. Prof is very smart and loves his subject but expects students to do their work (duh). If you are smart and up for a challenge, you will be so glad you took his class.
This guy should not be teaching a PoliScience class at st. mikes. I had no idea who he was until I took this class as an elective for my PO major. BIG MISTAKE. No critical thinking skills required, just the torture of a sem memorizing silly facts I can't remember today. I would have learned more on an online class. Please stick with GEOGRAPHY.
Tough class but learned tons of stuff. Kujawa is helpful. Read the review notes each week.
GREAT class! Dr. Kujawa is so smart and thorough.
The only things you need to do to succeed in his class: pay attention, attend class, and do ALL (or at least the majority) of the work he assigns. If you are not willing to do all three of these things, than do not put yourself in any classes that he teaches because if you do you will be lucky to get a C
This guy should not be teaching this course! Taking it was one of the worse mistakes of my academic career. His class expectations are ridiculous. Horrible professor. My gosh what a terrible class!
I'm not going to lie, it's a very tough class. Make sure you study for his map quizzes and do all the readings. He's a really good guy though and willing to help anyone who needs it. I recommend going to his office hours (if he sees you often, it'll help your grade) as well as completing optionals. The biggest thing is going to him for help.
They call him the 'GPA Killer' for a reason. This guy is not here to make any friends. Hardest professor here at St. Mikes hands down. If you can avoid this class DO IT or make sure its a different professor teaching this course. You'll be lucky if you get a C in his class.
He opened this class with "Nobody has gotten an A in my class" His class is pretty difficult in the beginning but as time goes on if you do the reading it gets easier. One of the most difficult courses I've taken.
I have had two classes with Kujawa and plan to take more. He is an extremely hard professor, he expects you to do the homework and to be in class. If you work hard in his classes then you will learn a lot. Deep down he really cares about his students and wants them to learn. Don't avoid Kujawa just be prepared to work hard and learn a lot!!
Extremely difficult class and his grading scale is horrible. He expects you to teach yourself through your textbooks.
Best prof at smc. Don't bother if you don't want to learn.
He creates a very uncomfortable learning environment.
Pretty disappointed with this class overall although there were some aspects I enjoyed. The aggressive and forceful style of conveying information coupled with the relentless attempt to make students feel dumb made the class uncomfortable, to say the least. The workload was extreme for the intro level class, more than any other intro class.
stay far away from this class
Literally impossible to pass, if you're a student athlete you might as well throw your life away. He assigns hours of homework for one night and puts the most random things on the tests. Even if you try you're lucky for a C and he informs you of tests less than a week in advance so you have no time to study. He is a nice guy but a mean hard Prof
I took his class for my freshman seminar. The amount of homework that he gives is insane. He doesnt let you know what you have to do for the week until Sundays. He induces narcolepsy and talks for the entire class time sometimes about his personal life and content that is totally unrelated to our work.
I had him for my First Year Seminar. He gives absurd amounts of homework with little time to do it yet expects high quality pieces when given such a short deadline for such long papers. As others stated, he talks the entire time about things off topic. He can be a nice guy but his class will consume your entire life.
Had him for Freshman Seminar. Having a class with him is uncomfortable, as he talks about his life a lot and expects feedback from the class. He gets very upset if you miss even a single class with a good reason. Steer clear.
Talks for an unbearably long amount of time; he has no clue how to be concise and I simply didn't have the patience for it. Treats his students like children and asks dumb questions that no one wanted to answer which just slowed the class down even more. Tries to be funny and usually fails. I can see how some may like him, but I'd say stay away.
I'm glad you came here. If I had the opportunity to come here before taking this class, I wouldn't be in the situation I'm in right now. If you want a good, resting, and normal student semester, don't come around this class; if you are on a scholarship that depends on your GPA, run from this class. He is a good person but not good as a professor.
Stay away! He gives tests and quizzes that make no sense. He talks the whole class, expects you to write everything he says, and brings only a few in tests or quizzes. You will never know what to study in his class because he's not good at clarifying what he's bringing on a test or quiz. He brings fill in that looks like it has 10 different answers
lectures never matched what was on the test. couldnt understand what he was saying half the time becuase he mumbles random british saying and treats you like kindergartners. i wd from the class and he came up to me in the hallway one day months later and gave me some snoody remark. if you dont want to fail, run away!!!
