Tests are insane. Not very clear or complicated when lecturing. Class average was a D. That explains everything.
tests are fair. I rarely studied and i received an A. he gives plenty of E.C. (i earned at least 50 pts E.C.)
Very knowledgeable, concise and helpful. A ton of extra credit was available. I received A's in both classes. Only those who sat in the back and did not pay attention received poor grades. Unfortunately, there was a lot of recent HS graduates enrolled
His class is easy because he gives bundles of extra credit that can get you an easy A
THIS GUY COMPLETELY MESSES UP PEOPLES GPA. The fact that extra credit is basically REQUIRED to have a chance at an A is ridiculous. A person shouldnt have do it to pass a class. Class average is 70 percent...no one has ever an A on his tests.
This is the worst teacher i've ever had. Looking at the final grades i see a D average and the hightest grade was a 88.4% B.....and the average final score was a 111 out of 200...u know theres something wrong when it's that low.
If you do the homework and study, you should be fine. Those who complain about the tests obviously do not pay attention to lectures or do not study. Gives tons of extra credit which can be extremely helpful. Have scored nothing lower than As on his tests.
His class is based on group work depending on your partners. Multiple choice test is ridiculous but the group problems are simple. Lectures are easy to understand. A lot of work and extra credit is required to get an A. Take him if you have time.
Do all of the extra credit and the team test, you will need them. It is possible to get an A in the class w/o the extra credit, BUT that is only if u remember everything from his lecture and the book becuz exams are from both. Pay attention to GRAPHS.
He provides every opportunity to do well in the class. However, my problem is with him as a teacher. He is not too clear when explaining some concepts. Nice guy, but doesn't make the class interesting.
HAS A BAD ACCENT...I DONT PREFER HIM CAUSE HE'S TOO FAST AND NOT UNDERSTANDABLE.
hard to understand him. if you take his class, its better to study the book mostly. i would recommend meyers instead-late
This teacher can barley speak english, He try's to teach econ through mathmatical concepts, he uses powerpoint to teach his lectures and he jumps around in his lectures from one website to another. He's not to interested in student learning or growth. He needs to retire! Don't take this class!!!!!
People who scored an A on his test must be very technical and really love the subject. Don't take him unless you want to spend several hours stuying his and only his material. I am a four point student and found his work to be too time consuming. He's very boring. But does offer alot of ex credit.
THIS CLASS WAS VERY DIFFICULT BECAUSE IT WAS HARD TO UNDERSTAND HIM AND HE DIDN'T CLARIFY WHAT WAS EXPECTED ON EXAMS AND QUIZES! HE WASN'T A BAD GUY BUT JUST VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND.
his quizzes are horrible, we are here to learn the concept and the what econ is but on his quizzes he more likely to try to trick us with one or two words. he goes through the chapter too fast while we are still trying to study for a chapter before. it all doesnt make sense.
easy class alot of notes rare homework assignments quizes and tests are kind of confusing key to passing class is extra credit so do it
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. I had to devote more time to this class then my other 4 classes put together. It was absolutely ridiculous and I didnt even learn alot because the material was so unclear.
Very difficult subject, the teacher makes the subject even harder. He gives a lot of extra credit assignments. In order to pass you have to do the extra credit. Be prepared to spend A LOT of time studying each night.
This was the hardest class I have EVER taken!!! I studied for hours and hours every week and only got a B in the class. The highest grade on the final out of the whole class was only 80% and he doesn't grade on a curve. He is hard to understand and he will trick you on tests a lot. I highly recommend taking someone else!
I barely managed to get an A...I did horrible on the tests too. Extra Credit is key, do what ever is offered!

His exams are hard as hell. He is difficult to understand because of his accent. He gives a ton of extra credit so if you want to pass I suggest you do it. No easy A here.

Man Mr. Le is hella coo. He gives you take home exams and prjects on the computer. Man I took both of his classes at the same time and they were easy. If you didnt like him then your probabaly not that bright. Im not the brightest of all and that dude was pretty easy....
Can't even understand him and he goes too fast
Though his class is difficult, the subject alone requires much attention. he has old tests online so you know what to expect on exam day and focuses on theory. if you are majoring in business, econ, finance and are serious about doing well in those fields-take his class to face reality. i've taken both micro¯o and its for students who wantQUALITY
Le is too damn Smart to be teaching the guys a genius. Its to hard to understand him because not everyone is as smart as him.
this teacher was hard..i must have studied for hours and still had a hard time got a B but hardly..i know a lot of people who flunked his class..whatever you do..try to avoid taking him..plus he was hard to understand..his english was muffled!
Listen to the people below, Le is really smart if your majoring in biz, or econ, then you definitely want to take him. Prepare to spend a lot of time studying. If you speak to his past students they either love his class or hate it (no gray area). I had him for both micro and macro and got a B in both.
this class is so hard that barely anybody passed it.... if any of you decide to take encon... do not take his class!!!
His class is extremely hard, especially the exams. He offers tons of extra credit assignments only because if you dont do them you WILL NOT PASS. He is helpful, but his class is way too hard. He is not accomodating, i had a 69 percent and he still gave me a D.
very wide range to study.
class is super boring, just has a powerpoint slide going and he has a vietnamese accent which at times is hard to understand. the test questions are very tricky and it's like he does it on purpose.
This fools a ****...he failed me with a 69 percent and wouldnt bump up my grade. Not accomodating at all...**** LE!!!!
He gives you every opportunity to succeed: extra credit available, exact quiz questions given one week before quiz, quiz and tests are online so they are open book. Excellent web site for due date information and instructions. Gives great lectures. Either his course has changed or the other people were crazy.
Mr. Le tries too hard to please everyone. He was constantly changing things around to accomodate only a few amount of people and in the end making more students angry. If you like order do not take this teacher.
Mr Le is a flexible and resonable instructer who puts economics into an digistive form. The work is challenging and yet understandable. He is a great instructer for all first timers.
I couldn't understand a word he said. I'm an A student and after our first test I had a D so I had to drop the class. He gives tests on material he doesn't teach. Avoid if possible.
Easy class, fail the exams, you can still get an A! He offers TOO much extra credits!!!
He tests you on the material not only from lecture, but also from the book, so if you expect to just copy notes from your boy and not read the work, prepare to get a D, otherwise, you should be okay. Should also have some basic reading comprehnsion skills, or you'll likely have difficult deciphering the test questions.
Mr.Le^ is a good teacher. I know there are a lot of people dont like him because he actually teachs the students, not to pass any student he likes. He is fair. Recommend that him if Econ is related to your major. You can learn a lot from this teacher. Even though he has accent. His notes is clear enought to understand by yourself. Study Guide is mu
Should be teaching at Davis ect. I'm a four pt. student and studied infinite hours still had trouble with his test, too much!! My suggestion is don't take him unless it's your only class too time consuming for a three unit class.
This teacher is not that hard. As long as you do everything you're assigned, & read the study guide, you'll do fine. Almost all the questions from the test (all MC qs) are from the study guide. He really wants to help, and his lectures really help u to understand. He goes over most everything. If you're not afraid to really learn something take him
He's a Comumist teacher, i study countless hours, test are very confusing at times, quizes are also hard. if you are gonna take him make sure you do most of the extra credit he gives out!! i would of gotten a C in the class but extra credit booast my grade to a B
Mr. Le is a really good teacher. Sometimes its hard to understand him but most of the time you get it. He gives you a lot of extra credit that really helps out in the long run. Tests are kinda hard but tells you everything that you need to study for. Overall he is a good teacher.
excellent teacher, office is open for questions, can email at anytime, his website is kept up to date and is very useful. answers any questions about concepts or topics you might not get. do the extra credit!! it helps a lot!! i would recommend!
If you do ALL the Extra Credit and do ok on the test you will get a A or B...Le helps alot and all of his question on the test come from the Study guide so buy it!
Excellent instructor. Homework assignments are difficult and time consuming...never got a 100% on homework. Tests and quizes are challenging yet reasonable. Definately need the study guide to do well on exams. Has a strong accent...but his inclass demonstration...really helps. Like any other class...you work hard...you get an "A". good luck.
Professor Le is an excellent, but demanding teacher. His Macroeconomics class is challenging. The Final Exam is very challenging however if you work hard and do all your extra credit you will get a B or A. He is the embodiment of a vietnamese teacher hard, but fair.
Just come to class, pay attention, do x-credit. He's very nice. You have to spend time for the class if you want to get A. You just sit there, look at the test, think it's hard, don't try to do it, don't go to ask him for help, HOW CAN YOU GET THE SCORE that YOU WANT? I DON'T RECOMMEND HIM FOR LAZY STUDENTS!
bad no understanding no using the book,, i dont know what to say but i heared that he is better than other teachers so i dont know,, i was thinking about majoring in business but after i took this class with him i'll switch cuz i didnt understand ntn and i have D in this clas :'(
study hard and ask questions, this teacher is always available to help and answer anything you dont understand, you have to work hard in order to receive a decent grade. great teacher overall
Notes very confusing, hard to understand. Not very helpful. Tried to get help during office hours but he wouldn't even answer the door (yes he was there). If you want to get a good grade in ECON don't take him.
Mr. Le is so hard... u can understand the lectures, but when it is time to do ur homwork.. u will have no idea... very hard homework and vey very hard tests and homwork..... i would NOT recommend him... if u don't want to waste ur time and really want to pass the class, then it would be better to take other teacher.... DO NOT take this teacher....
be prepared to work hard, this class is not for the lazy. teacher is hard, and has several hw assignments and presentations. expects a lot from his students, class started out full, but there is like 10 ppl left. Teacher is always open for advice and he is there to help.
I loved this class!!
It is difficult to grade him. Most of the students that take his class are retards. All of the answers to the THT/HW are on his website. They are ALL there. His midterm/final are the easiest thing in the world.
I think he is a good teacher, who definitely knows his stuff. He does have a lot of work for students, but provides the resources to study and complete your homework. He also has a lot of extra credit, definitely do that, if you want extra points. If you want to actually learn econ well, take his class, but be prepared to do some work.
I do not recommend anyone to take professor Le! He has a very thick accent and is hard to understand. Also, the average on his test was a 54% and on his final it was a 56%. He will not grade the tests on a curve either! Also he is very strict about grading homework assignments. If you take his class, do ALL of his extra credit. You will need it!
Tough to keep up with what assignments were due. He loved his spreadsheets and all the work was done interacting with them.
only an idiot could fail this class, just do the hw, its take home, so are his quizzes. he allows notecards for exams and extra credit. its a breeze aslong as you pay attention and do the work.
extremely hard to understand. lectures are just overly-complicated powerpoint presentations, with information simply compied out of the book. The class schedule is confusing as homework is more like projects, and quizes pop up out of nowhere. WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD!
yes, its true he has an accent but hes very informed on the topic. i'd have to agree with the person below..only an idiot can fail his class
he's hard. he expects us to know it like the back of our hands. its his career not ours. talks down on you. no help at all.
Professor Le is one of a kind to say the least. for the most part he was unclear. the class was extremely boring. not too hard though, do the extra credit and you will be ok.
Hard to understand, not alot of work though
If you enjoy thick asian accent to the level of unable to understand, then Damn he is the prof. for you. thick asian accent, very boring, drives you up the wall, b/c u can't understand him. though, he has an old dry asian humor. you'll find he's sort of mean.
He is a great teacher. Just a lot of work, but he is always willing to help. You learn so much from him. He is very wise in his field. I think he should win a nobel prize.
Dont worry about what other students say about him, theyre probably just not smart. You will see that he is always asking if you have any questions or if you are lost. He is very clear and willing to help. There's quite a few HW assignments and tests, but he gives you last semester answers that are similar. That's all you have study really to pass.
If you do the work you will pass that class. I didnt have to go to the final and i would have had a C. Gives extra credit. If you go to class, take notes, do homewrk, and study you will pass the class. Knows everything and then some about econ. He expects you to earn your grade. Does have an accent, but can be understood.
He is so hard! Just an awful professor. His tests are absolutely RIDICULOUS and the average grade on them were D's and F's and he still didn't do anything about it. You won't learn anything and will be struggling the entire way through the class. Avoid at all costs!
I have never had a professor as impossible as him. His tests and homework have nothing to do with the lecture or the text. The only way to pass is to study old exams and assignments (which he provides on his website). I have never struggled to survive a class so much before -- and after all of that, I didn't learn a thing!
This class is the bad class i ever had. his accent and pronuciation are so hard to understand. he gave a lot of homework and quizes, and his grading is extremely hard. at the end if you get 79 or 88,89 you still get a C and B. this seems unfair at all. if you really want to learn more econ, DONT TAKE HIS CLASS. find another best prof.
Would be great if your major was econ, otherwise noone needs to understand econ in this much depth. Maybe I wasn't ready cause his style was way over my head, tons of math.
If you do the work, you CAN pass the class. I took him online. Hints: Team up with 2 or 3 people for the homework & quizzes AND ALL DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! Yes, you do have to study hard and it is difficult. He does give you all the answers - you just need to look on his website to find them! And he is not that difficult to understand.
his grading is so hard. a lot of HW, quizes, presentations. also, his accent is hard to understand if english is your first language. He's so mean, too. a lot of math, this class requires your thinking as well. I don't recomment to take this instructor.
No doubt he is extremely hard. His test are so poorly written, even if you study for a month I can guarantee that u won't get an A. I had the 3rd highest grade in the class, 89% and when I took the final I got a 78% as an overall grade. I drop to a C, and The final and test average are usually 46% for the entire class. BeWARE! Impossible to pass!!
He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He expects you to learn the material on your own. He gives lots of homework and quizes and you cant do well on a test if you studied for weeks. Take his class only if its the only class you are taking and be ready to work your butt off.
I took the online class and it was very challenging. If ur in love w/ Econ, then this is the class for u. But if it's just a GE req, then it may be TOO advanced. He makes lots of mistakes on his materials online, gives many HW and projects. Pros: he gives so many xtra credit that u CAN pass w/ an A; lets u work in grps; answers emails promptly.
Beware this teacher is very hard I use to like Econ but after this teacher you ll hate it. Extremely difficult quizes that are sometimes hard to understand. Alot Alot of graphs that I cant see why or how it will apply to our lives later on.
His class is very easy although there is a lot of work to do, but if you complete all your work and assignments this class will be very easy.
i dont agree with people who say this is an easy class. it sure was difficult as hell for me & it was a lot of work but i learned A LOT (plus he gives u so much X-credit)i never regretted taking this class. if youre a slacker who just wants to get by do not take this class but if youre a LEGIT college student, please take him. he is a great prof!=]
you who are saying just do your work and you will be fine are totally misleading people. His online class has two web sites, which makes things very confusing and even harder to keep up with. His answers to questions are incomplete. Convenient just to take it online but take it somewhere else or in person. Avoid this confusion/stress at all costs!
He's good pro. who wouldn't mind being bugged by students with questions. His accent is not so perfect and his HWs are often very challenging. Yet, he has lots of XC stuff to back your grades up and if you're willing to learn, he'll be willing to help. So far, I'm satisfied that I've been doing well to keep my grade @ #1 in his class this semester.
Professor Le is not a good teacher. He doesn't care if you get it or not and he doens't explain the information so that we all may understand. I got an A only because I did every single assignment correctly and did all the extra credit. This class is an easy A or B if you do all the work, but trust me you wont learn anything! He's rude sometimes! =
I took this class online. I can see how maybe in person he would be a decent teacher but online it was abysmal. I read every chapter, took notes, read the readings and the homework and tests looked like they were biased off of a completely different text. He does have a good amount of extra credit but take him in person or someone else entirely.
He's nice and kind to his students but it's just difficult to keep myself awake and listening to the boring lectures. Plus the way he phrases his questions in his homework/exams is hard to understand sometimes.
Professor Le is one of my favorite professors ever! He is kind, student-friendly, brilliant, & makes a relatively dry subject interesting and relevant. If you're willing to do a bit of work-it is 100% possible to do great in his class. I cannot say enough about how wonderful of a Prof he is. He gives extra credit and he is so generous with it too.
Professor Le will help you understand economics. He always had thorough presentations for each class and he relates theories to everyday occurrences. Not a lot of homework, and lots of extra credit to help you out.
Oh Man, He is a nice and sweet in class, but when it comes to homeworks and Project presentations which are 2, and each project contains 2 to 3 topics, not to mentions doing the data and graphs. he makes his class so demanding, too much work . The average score in the class was D. His class is a climb in the hill.
Prof Le has good intentions, I am sure of that. HOWEVER, the class is kind of a cluster-cuss. He is a Mr. Magoo and wastes a lot of time. He gives plenty of extra credit to supplement your grade BUT more than half the class was failing anyway. All homework is scantron. LOTS of D2L resources. You have to be extra committed to pass this class.
He has a thick accent and tends to yell at the class when he talks..doesn't teach much..test and hw are hard..but he does give enough extra credit which allows you to pass.studied for da midterm n final for hours based on class notes..didnt help at all!! got a D on both and still passed da class w/a B! He's good for da grade but you wont learn econ
Homework is hard, but if you ask him for help he'll definitly help you after class hours. If you want to pass the class, do all the extra credit work.
Like someone said under this comment this teacher has good intentions. But having good intentions; does not lead to be a good professor. He must look at his overall percentage of his class in all these years and understand that < half his class is failing. I passed but I can say he is harsher than my core classes like Chemistry and Calculus.
Hes a bad teacher. He is not at all helpful, when you ask for a study guide he will simply tell you "if you read the whole book you would know the answers" WHO READS THE WHOLE BOOK??? and the part I read and he tests on are different. I want to make a test on the book see if he passes.
I agree that his tests are hard. It requires you to fully understand the materials to answer it right. He knows what he's talking about. I learned quite a lot of things from him. If you put sometimes out to do the EC, you'll be passing with A+ easily even though you don't get around B for HWs & tests. So, 4 your sake, study to learn not only grade.
This is my 2nd semester taking his ECONs 302 & 304. He's so generous with ECs. There are plenty of it for you to do to back up your grade. An A is not hard. Just some lazy dudes keep on whining about it. Being realistic here, if you're taking college classes just to have an unreliable grade shown on your transcript, you'll be miserable for your who
This is a difficult class and will definitely require a lot of time and effort. He says this in the beginning and while almost 50% usually fail I did well. Spend a lot of time on homework because it will help you in the end. Use your study guide! Try to master every topic. Macroeconomics is not an easy topic in general unless you enjoy it.
Worst teacher i've ever taken. i dont recommend taking his classes unless you want to settle for a C or lower. he asks questions on our quizzes and homework that we've never gone over before. he interrupts us while we do our class presentation. i could keep going.
Anyone who says hes a good teacher is either lying or the teacher himself. I thought when he said half his class failed the semester before that they were all whiners and lazy, especially since he offers so much extra credit, but trust me when I say it won't make a difference. I had a great GPA until taking this class. Thanks a lot Mr. Le...
This teacher values, honesty and hard work. If you are honest, not whiny and work to get your grade, you will get it. His homework and exams are hard if you did not read AND study the material. Simple as that. Great teacher overall--a true college teacher (not a easy free ride high school teacher) He wants you to learn something from his class.
very challenging, but worth it in the end. just do the homework, pay attention, and study study study. his study sessions help a lot! take good notes, and you will be fine! i loved him, good change of pace from other CRC professors.
I have found that people hate to realize that they are the problem instead of the Professor. I have sat in the same class as some of the people that blame Pro. Le or their bad grade, when in fact they dont turn in work ontime or at all. I too hated the class at first, then I applied myself and got out of it what I put into it. Great Job Prof. LE
I took this class online last year, and and even with the 100 pts of extra credit, I failed. He is so unclear and unhelpful, and about 75% of his students failed. Im retaking it online with another teacher right now and getting a B. It's a tough subject, but Mr. Le makes it impossible for anyone who isnt an econ expert to pass. Take someone else.
Took the online class, its difficult and defiantly not for everyone. Provides answered HW from previous semesters which was very helpful, lets you use note cards on exams. Read Each chapter twice, use the study guide and study hard and you'll do fine. Defiantly more for the self motivated and not for the lazy who do HW 1 hour before its due.
An A in his class is very attainable. His hw assignments and tests don't really reflect what he teaches in class but he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities to keep your grade up. Takes a lot of work but it wasn't too bad. He does tend to be repeatative though and that can be soo boring and kind of annoying.
Took this class online just to take it - I do not know why. My GPA is 3.7 and I barely got a C in this class. Then again, I never tried, didn't study, didn't read. He seems nice though but when I went on campus for orientation/tests, clarity was incomprehensible
I took this class online but ended up with W. You know what the course itself was not too hard but time consuming. If you are a busy person, don't take his class. He has plenty of homework and two big projects. If you have plenty of time and want to learn about Econ, good for you to this class. that is the bottom line.
I am contunually blown away at how stupid this is. Im in the online class, and his homework is VAGUE and he frequently makes confusing mistakes and takes forever to answer questions, or tells you to "be more clear". I will be honest, I am a devoted student, I love economics; but I have cried several times already. Frustrating convoluted impossible
This is honestly the worst teacher i have ever had. class average 46%now...i wanted to be a Business major before i had this class now i am reconsidering that. DO NOT take this class....bottom line....The Homework is unclear and confusing, the tests are just pointless to attempt, and his teachings are as useful as giving a monkey a piece of chalk.
This was a very hard class to take online. The homework and projects were not clear enough for me to really get a grasp on what was wanted. The midterm and final were very hard. I did every assignment/project with A-B avg. but midterm and final dropped my grade considerably. Think twice about this one.
awful experience. He makes everything harder than it should be. I regret taking this teacher. DO NOT take his class find another professor. He takes points away for everything! yet he makes tons of mistakes but never gives students a break.
He makes things harder than they need to be and forces you to do everything his way. On the Mid Term half of the class didn't even finish.
Is very helpful. Homeworks and projects can be very tedious if you dont understand the material. Lectures are very informative. Multiple choices are pain in the butt.
I, like many of the bad reviews here, am a born-slacker. At least for the beginning. This class is a lot of work but you can definitely get an A if you put in the time. He is very helpful and replies quickly, anyone who says otherwise probably just had one bad experience. He is a good Prof, just a tough class.
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken, you literally have to pay attention to every little thing he says. Tests are ridiculously hard, I almost had to drop it.
Got an 99.5% while my friend got a 97% in this class. Never read book. My friend didn't even own a textbook and I wish I didn't buy one. Always did homework at the very last night. Easiest class I ever took. However, this is how I personally feel. 5 As 5 Bs 14C 14D 13Fs. Midterm is almost same as homework. Did not study for final at all.
Highly recommended. I don't know why his rating for easiness is so low but I got C on my midterm and I still got a high A at the end of the semester. As long as you do his assignments, you'll gain an A. Some assignments if you finish early, you get extra points. I took an online class. There's many things to do but it's an easy A.
This has been my absolute worst experience in all my college years. The amount of work and studying you have to do is way more than the 4 units it's worth. Professor can be rude when answering students questions so I never bothered asking anything. So glad its over!
Save your sanity and do not take this professor's class.
7 hw midterm final. Every point matters. You have to READ the book if you want an A. Took me 6 -8 hours average each hw & study for mid and final. Prof is quick to help and answer all Q's immediately. If your looking for easy A, this is not the class. But A is very attainable. Just READ the book and start early on hw.
