You can tell he likes what he does and is passionate about the material. He's a new teacher, so it's a little difficult. Overall, he cares about his students, makes sure the information is as clear as possible and tires to give you easy marks. I would recommend to anyone! (plus he's cute)

good prof

All he does is make powerpoint presentations directly from the book. Class is boring, and it's easy to get distracted if you are sitting text to someone fun. He doesn't seem to really know how to teach, as he is new. DOn't really need the text either.

Easy class, his notes are very clear and easy to understand.. very approachable. All notes are in power point form. Test are not hard as long as you read over his notes and text.

He's really good. the notes dictate what will be on the tests, and are usually available online incase u don't want to write them down. clear lectures with examples to help us understand. good prof!

Extremely clear on topics,notes etc. makes materials very easy to understand. Very nice teacher and made class quite interesting. Answers emails fairly quickly. 5 lab reports and 3 exams. Fair questions on exams. Great marks if you go to lectures and look at the notes. I got an A+ in it no problem.

Good Prof, Uses PowerPoint, but study your book inside, outside, and in greek, there are a lot of terms in there that are important...always avail. for help when needed, but its a lot of info. to take in. tests are decent, but you need to really study.

Richard is such a sweetheart. He cares about his students. His class is easy and it was mostly material I knew from other classes I had already taken.

I love Online Psych 1100 with Dr. Le Grand!!! If you're a procrastinator, don't take this class. He keeps you on top of the material with weekly quizzes and a short paper. 3 tests and a final all multiple choice. Course is well organized and he responds quickly to emails. I'm definitely taking Psych 1200 online with him.

Lots of works! Need to hand in a 400 words critique and quiz everyweek! The quizs and midterms were so hard you need to memorize all those details in the text book to get a good mark. My first C in my college life!

Richard is awesome and the best prof I have every had. If you don't take his class you are missing out. He is very helpful and his classes are fun.

LeGrand teaches Perception, Cognition & Intro psych classes. He's a really caring, helpful professor.

He was very enthusiastic about his class, which was good, but his enthusiasm sometimes was a bit much.

I took him two semesters in a row for online psych. I won't take him again if I can help it. He seems lazy and uninterested. Returns work late and rarely has anything to add to online discussion groups.

I took his online course so it's a little difficult to rate him. His quizzes and tests weren't too bad, just had some trickily worded questions. There were also easy weekly assignments, and forum discussions. I wish I had a real class with him because he's a hottie (from his pic anyway) and makes psych relevant instead of totally formal. Best teacher i've had in kwantlen in 15 courses. Very friendly, understanding, competent, interesting. His notes are awesome and tests are very easy as long as you understand the material, no memorization. He's a nice guy. He's appx 30 years old but looks 26.

I've taken a course with Richard the last 3 semesters in a row. Richard is fair, transparent in his expectations, and he is an engaging lecturer. He is helpful when asked, and responds to e-mail in a timely fashion. I highly recommend taking a course with Richard.

Richard is a great professor. Makes class interesting. He provides a lot of in class activities/experiments which is always fun. He usually gives two 10 minute breaks. 3 tests-mc, short answer & long answer, 3 lab reports, and a group presentaion.. Just make sure you study a lot for your exams and you will do fine

Richard is by far one of the BEST professors I've ever had...he really breaks everything down so it's understandable, and class really does go quickly. Plus he's got a quirky personality and a great sense of humor. Highly recommended!

what can i say about richard... well he's one of the funniest teachers i've ever had... & chances are the 1st thing ull learn about him is that he "likes to make [his] own beer!" his class is pretty fun and always interesting! & always chilled... its a must take class... & of course, who wouldnt want to take it with a cute teacher at the front? :p

I did not think that I would enjoy this course very much but Richard made it interesting and understandable. He does lots of fun class activities which kept everyones attention. Not to mention the fact that he is really cute which also kept my attention! Overall I really enjoyed this class & would definetely take another class with Richard!

Richard is a great prof, he does an amazing job of explaining things as well as he makes the class interesting and fun! I would recommend this teacher ANY day. There are 3 exams and they are pretty straight forward, he makes it clear what he expects his students to know, so no surprises on tests. Good Luck!

I hate Math and Stats was going to be my biggest nightmare but Richard broke things down step by step and everything he taught was incredibly useful. He's a really good teacher and he's quite young so he understands what it's like to be a student and is always willing to help. He doesn't bite!

Best class ever, best prof ever, no competition IMO. Wish he taught ALL my other courses. You gotta know the stuff,obviously, but he makes even the tedious things interesting and understandable. Emphasis first on lectures/notes then text. Amazing guy/class. Only problem is you might end up focusing more on the cute prof than the actual lecture!

Talented instructor who interacts and is fair with his class. I think he is starting to become tired of teaching the same courses. The spark in his eye 2 years ago is not there at the moment. He is teaching Psych 2400 this semester so hopefully that will renew him. I look forward to when he's teaching upper div..i think he'll be happier.

I've taken all the courses that Richard teaches and done well in all of them. Recently Richard seems to be depressed or unhappy with the courses he's teaching(I think he should be teaching upper division..he's been teaching lower for too long). He seems disinterested and I hate to say it but I do not recommend him at the moment.

I have now taken every course that Richard teaches. He explains concepts well, and makes his expectations clear. I think that the dept. of psych is silly not getting him to teach upper division - it's very clear where his passions lie. Neat guy, but it seems that his oomph is waxing and waning.

Although i do like richard and he's a pretty cool guy, i find his class a little too laid back, which makes it really hard to pay attention in his class. 1 exam (which was actually pretty hard, so really study for that), 2 assignments and 1 HUGE project worth like 45% of your grade, but overall a good and nice teacher

This was my first time taking Richard and I definitely want to take more classes with him. In this class there is a test on 9 chapters, which I found pretty hard. The research study is the biggest assignment you would have to worry about, it's worth 55% with participation marks included, I believe. Overall, he is an amazing teacher! no doubt!

Amazing professor. Three tests (non-cumulative), one take home assignment and a group project. Explains concepts really well, with lots of examples and makes the class very interesting. Tests are exactly what's on his slides and there is sometimes a bonus question. I would definitely take a class with him again!

Great teacher, very interesting, and an easy marker had him in 2010. If you are thinking about getting into psych take his intro class, I guarantee you will come out interested and wanting to go further. I wish he taught more of the higher level courses, Kwantlen needs more teachers like him!

Awesome prof! Breaks things down so well & clearly! Makes the math part of the course seem like a joke! 3 pretty easy exams (30%, 30% and 10%), Online Assignments for every chapter (really easy 20%), two quizzes (5% each) and no final. If you want to do well in Stats take it with Richard! Oh and he lets you make a cheat sheet to all three tests.

WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PROF. I'm hoping to get him for my next level psych class. Amazing analogies, clever and quirky, knows his material, provides slides in advance; overall amazing professor. Grades 90% out of tests and a very, very easy 10% assignment that can be done in 15 mins.

Richard is the best. He is the most helpful and clear teacher I have ever had. Hes funny, his lectures are interesting and he is very very cute to top it all off! I was worried about stats and he made it super easy to understand. In 1100 I did not like his class all that much but 1100 is generally a bore.

Richard is an amazing prof. He is the best prof I have ever had. His lectures are interesting and if you go to them and take notes you won't need the textbook. He's super sweet too! Cog consisted of two midterms that were 40% each but if you paid attention and studied then you could easily ace them. I wish he taught all my classes!

The best professor I never meet~His course is interesting and pretty clear~prepare his study question and make clear of his PPT(not just textbook)~then you will do fine~The only regret is that he's always ill~take him and you will love psychology.

I have taken Richard for Cognition as well as 2400, and I wish i could take every psychology class with him. He knows what he's talking about and is really helpful. I don't know if he says that lectures are mandatory, but he makes them really interesting and informative, so it's not boring at all. Very straight forward! Awesome lecturer!

He does many activities in class to make sure you understand what you are learning. He posts his notes online so you don't have to bear through 3 hours of note taking.

I will happily take more of his classes in future! Great examples that help you remember points and clear instruction. Makes the class engaging and fun (even in a 3hr lecture) and clearly loves what he's teaching. If you ever need help, ASK. He is very approachable and genuinely wants you to succeed. 3 midterms (MC/SA), 2 super short reports. :)

Very passionate prof. Dressed professionally every single class and posts lecture ppts in advance (for those who like to print + take notes on them). If the class did poorly on something, he finds ways to add extra credit (not a hassle to earn) onto your grade (just not for lab reports!). Totally a prof who brings enthusiasm to class with him.

Richard is a really engaging professor when it comes to his lectures! He gives out tests throughout the semester but no final exam, which I liked! He also counts extra credit when you need a percentage or two to get that bump in your grade. Overall, I highly recommend him as he is really relatable when it comes to explaining certain things.

I've taken two classes with Richard and I think he's probably my favourite prof I've had. His lectures are engaging and everything just makes sense. I heard stats was hard but with him it's so simple. I would also recommend only buying the access code, because I've never used the physical textbook except in class for tables

He's a great prof, lectures are fun to listen to. It's helpful if you go to class because often he'll ask you questions on the exam about a specific lecture. Easy class, 3 exams (including final), 6 online experiments (take 5 minutes each) and 2 lab reports (5 pages each). Seems caring and he's pretty nice to look at.

Cognition was my favorite class last term. I always looked forward to coming to Richard's class. Really engaged, funny, and uses lots of different approaches like videos, group work, in class experiments etc. Tests are fair and he graded them quickly. Fast replying to my emails (be sure to follow his email policy).

Richard is one of my favourite profs. He goes slow, is clear, and is super supportive if you need help. I took PSYC Stats and PSYC Cognition with him; I am not math brained at all but I got one of the highest grades in both classes due to his teaching style and awesome personality.

I love Richard!! He makes his lectures interesting and engaging so you actually understand what he's teaching. Only gives 3 tests which are based on his lectures, so you don't even need to use the textbook. Super funny guy and acts really chill while lecturing so it feels like you're just talking with a friend.

I highly recommend taking Richard for stats if you are required to take the course. He explains the material so well, and always giving the class the opportunity to ask questions. He gives you 2 options on how you want to be graded with 3 exams, 2 quizzes, and online assignments. If you struggle with math take this class. You wont regret it.

Richard is great. I'm not the best at math but I did really great in his class. He's always willing to go through the problems you don't understand and will go out of his way to try to explain things in different ways so everyone gets it. You don't really need to read the text but it does help a lot before class. He usually finishes lectures early.

This class is online (COVID). Tests were marked fast, like 1-2 days, and he replied to my emails fast. I wish there was more contact like a real class. Powerpoint lecture with voice recording so sorta like listening to him in class. Weekly quizzes, online activities and 3 tests. Do the homework + study lecture easy A.

I have had Richard for two semesters online. Richard is a great professor, especially for statistics. I am not very good at math, however, Richard made this course very easy for me to understand. His class included pre-recorded lectures, mindtap assignments, 2 quizzes, and 2 tests with a live study session before tests. 10/10 would recommend!

Lectures were though but nothing that can not be solved with more practice. I am not so good at math in general so I asked for help and he was very nice about it. He explains very slow so you can understand everything. You just have to work for it. Practice, practice, practice like he says.

Over 70% of your grade is based on 3 tests, all from lecture slides and quite easy. He does make you purchase an online textbook for quizzes and assignments but that material is not on the test. No final exam which was nice. He uses good examples to help understand the concepts. Easy extra 2% bonus credit. Would take him for 1200 is he was teaching

All the lectures were prerecorded and were very well structured and straight to the point. There was one chapter to read each week in Launchpad, with some small activities to complete, and an online quiz. No papers to do or final exam, just 3 online tests. He was very supportive. I highly recommend him!

Before taking this class, I expected to just get a passing grade since math has never been my strong suit. However, Richard explained everything clearly and broke things down into easy-to-follow steps. The weekly homework might feel like a lot to some, but it was kinda fun and really helpful. Put in the effort, and you'll do well in this class.
