Usually I'm working for A and until now all of my classes was A. But this class was really hardest one. If you know really good coding and you don't have any classes I'm saying you can challenge yourself but just be careful for your GPA.

This class is intensely difficult if you're like me and do not put the actual effort into learning the material. This is not a professor to take lightly he is tough but fair. It takes massive dedication, and you will absolutely learn. This was easily the hardest class of my life, but he curves and is willing to help outside of class. Very friendly.

The material itself is hard, he is also really tough, but he curves and he tries his best to explain things. The people complaining about his lectures either weren't paying attention or don't understand the difficulty in explaining data structures to students. There's a lot of outside effort required, but that's because of the class, not Lorentz.

Professor Lorentz is a wonderful professor. I feel that I have learned more in his class than I have in my previous computer science courses. Although he does have very difficult tests and projects, if you put in the time you will pass. Honestly, if you try in his class you will not only pass, but also learn a lot of real world applications.

This class was really hard, you can pass if you really know how you have to write code. he is not going to help you for project he making sure not telling you how you have to do that. basically you are with your own. save your life and don't take this class.

Easily the best Professor I've had throughout my studies. Has a mastery of algorithmic programming, and gives very clear lectures where even very complex algorithms can be easily understood. Though you absolutely must take notes! Some algo. variants he lectures on can not be found on the internet and are barely mentioned in the book. Curves tests.

No clear explanations whatsoever. It really is such a difficult course and he gives sparse lectures on the board. Like no proper notes. It is so hard to understand and if you fall behind, there is really no care for you. One or two kids are always answering and he takes them to be the spokespeople of the class. Upsetting.

Online due to Covid-19. Only material was book and a one-page Word doc with his "notes." Canvas discussion was a joke and non-specific answers were given to questions. I spent 5 hrs on my own and 8 hrs with a tutor going over the first homework. Got a 6/10. Swapped the class with another the same day. Never again.

I'm sure he would've been a good professor in person, but he is a terrible online professor. The only form of communication you will have with him are canvas discussions and email, which are both semi-useless. He provides notes only through canvas docs. You will go through the semester not ever hearing his voice. He's also very rude.

Wrap this guy up. He posts lectures in word documents and says good luck. When asked about lecturing online due to COVID he says no because he doesnt have the hardware (no camera no mic). I guarantee more then 80% of the class is going to fail.

Professor Lorentz is a truly inspiring and wonderful professor. Whenever I have issues with my code he is easily accessible via e-mail and Canvas Discussions. He also is trying his best to make easy-to-understand lectures for us even during this difficult time. Highly reccomend.

This professor was the worse in teaching the course through online. He taught the course through his "notes", even though half of the time it didn't make sense. The class probably would have been better in-person, but I digress. I just want to ay that the course was a mess online, and would choose another professor for this course during this time.

Fall 2020. Don't recommend taking him online. No Zoom lectures the entire semester, just gave us reading lectures and uber hard programming assignments. Reach out to classmates and stick with them, you'll rely on each other to pass the class. He's challenging, but it's harder to learn and get help when he's not as welcoming behind a screen.

Unorganized lectures. Avg exam score is like 13%-22% and he blames the class rather than himself. Lecture material doesn't cover the entire exam. He said he wants u to spend 1-2 hours per textbook page. Textbook barely helps. External resources are scarce and unhelpful. 2nd worse prof at CSUN. He curves but not enough for people to get A's

Avoid this professor is he ever teaches this class, his lectures are ambiguous and leave more questions than answers. His homework does little preparation for exams, and will give ZERO partial credit for technically correct answers on exams. Avoid him unless you have a huge study group.

DAWG DO NOT TAKE HIM. You won't be able to see your grade on canvas which is going to leave you wondering if you are passing this class or not the whole semester. In-person tests where he expects you to write 2 algorithms with pen and paper in the span of 60 minutes along with 5 other long answer questions (tests are 65% of grade)

Class averages 20-30% and students are passing over a curve. He sometimes seems unsure of answers and makes it more confusing in class. His grading is very difficult. He is willing to help out of office hours, but it did not help me. He will not give partial credit on test. He expects perfect answers from his ambiguous teaching.
