He is a very good English teacher if you take him you will learn alot!

Cool guy!Challegened my way of thinking when it comes to literature. He broadened my taste in styles and genres. A lot of lit reading! Tests are tough though, but if you read all the reading assignments, you should be fine. Two thumbs up!

Mr. Marquez is a wonderful teacher. He does all he can to help you, but you have to show effort. DON'T BE LATE TO CLASS! take his class very serious and be prepared to learn!!!!

Very hard, his gradeing is shady and he is moody. I would suggest another teacher for English.

Mr. Marques is a very easy going professor

I have recommended him numerous times!If you aren't willing to work for your grade or be able to listen to other people's opinions than this class is not for you.Take him for an enjoyable and hard class.

U earn ur grade in this class. He tought me how to right and i am very greatful for that. Their are no easy rides in this class but if you want to learn take Mr. Marquez. He can be moody at times but from what i have learned he does is it b/c he cares. i was pushed to strive for better, and i passed

Mr. Marquez absolutely values everyone's opinion and works hard for the entire class to be involved. He has high expectations and anticipates you'll actucally work. Hardest thing about his tests is remembering author names and dates. Very knowledgeable in his subject, I would reccomend. Ask him about the Emperor of ice cream it's his favorite...

Hard but easy going

Prof. Marquez is very willing to help out on any question you might have. I looked @ other comments that were said about him; quite frankly everyone has a bad character inside of them but few are daring to show what they really feel. Just keep up on your reading and work and you will do fine in this class.

Mr. Marquez is tough, but it's college so there is no reason why he shouldn't be. He just expects you to learn the material. He's not afraid to say what is on his mind, but that's what makes the class so intresting.USE THE OFFICE HOURS! He is really helpful all you need to do is ask. He is passionate about his job; he is a GREAT teacher.

This teacher is great. He is so helpful and nice. Just do your work and show up early to class and you will be on his good side.

Great teacher! Always ready to answer questions! Funny, but wont hesitate to call you out in front of everyone so be ready. overall, as long as you pay attention you'll be fine. Highly reccomend this prof.

Marquez is extremely full of himself. He tells you that all opinions matter, but when you state yours, he makes you feel stupid. It wasn't that hard of a class, but he made it hard to go to. It's his way or no way.

If you're serious about learning ,Mr. Marquez is the professor for you. He's cool and very professional.I highly recommend him.

It's college people, it's supposed to be hard and difficult. Remember we are not in elementary school anymore. Quit your whining about him being moody have a little respect.After all, he just wants to help you make $.He really does love his profession and has a passion for what he does and all he wants is to see his students suceed; just as he did.

a very good teacher with passion for what he dose. the only improvement i see needed was understanding for students circumstances. we are human beings with feelings and opinions.

Great professor who will keep a student busy. Lots of writting which has helped me improve my skills. I highly recommend him. He has a way of pushing a student to his limits and it has helped me do things I never thought I could do.

He showed us today in class this site which I had never seen.Well let me start out with that he's a great teacher. I have learned a lot in his class. However don't be like me and not put too much effort into my work. You have to be dedicated and get his helps which he offers. He really knows his stuff. Also he's funny.I recommend him.

Mr. Marquez is awesome teacher! He knows his subject very well. He is very funny; his class was a lot of fun.!3 hours of his class went like 30 minutes. For ESL students this teacher is a good choice. Who wants to learn how to write well - Mr. Marquez is excellent. I was upset that he doesn't teach Engl1A. Extremely helpful!

I wasn't sure about taking Mr. Marquez's summer class after reading this site, but I decided to take a chance. (Glad I did.) Good teacher. Knows his subject. Willing to help. Make sure to ask questions and participate. It is possible to pass the class and the FEE. Just make sure to do the work and make a real effort.

I tested into B1A on the assesment test but took a level lower instead. (Glad I did!) He is super nice and passionate about this subject. He does not put up with any BS at all! If you come to class ready to learn and willing to participate you will do well!

One thing to know; he can be rude. There were several times when students would be put down after for a question. Participation is a must, he walked out of class because he felt he was talking to the wall once. He is very knowledgeable though; knows what he's talking about!

Yes he is a little intimidating, but by far the best teacher ive had since being in college. really funny! great attitude and very helpful. passionate about his work and students.

He was a great teacher! By far the best teacher I have ever taken. Yes, his class is a little difficult but he keeps the class entertained. Hates when students are late. I'm happy I chose him. You won't regret taking his class!

*50/1A Express 8unit crs* GREAT English teacher, just stick with it and don't be discouraged and you can do it. Revise all paper when you can. Must have dedication when you take this class because it is demanding. Don't be afraid to ask questions he doesn't bite but will give you a hard time about it but that's just him, he really doesn't mind.

When I read reviews for Mr. Marquez I can only stop and think that the students that wrote them did not put in enough time and expected the class to be EASY. I learned so much in this class and YES it is hard but you can do it. follow the syllabus and revise your papers. this class is challenging and requires work, but can be done.

Mr. Marquez is an amazing prof. I took his class with my boyfriend two semesters ago and couldn't have been more happy. Mr. Marquez opened up his weekend to meet with us at Starbucks once to go over things we both were not grasping. He cares about those who struggle. Come to class on time and don't ask questions he has answered.

Prof. Marquez helped turn me into a better writer, always making himself available and open to answer questions and concerns. He is direct with his expectations and has zero tolerance for excuses and tardiness, so be prepared to pay attention and take notes. His class is by no means an easy A, but why would one expect college to be easy?

Prof. Marquez knows his subject and teaches it with a passion. I don't understand all of the negative comments about him, but if I had to guess, I think your nasty grammar and punctuation had a lot to do with it (just read the negative comments: they're riddled with errors). He teaches tough, but believe me: you will become a better writer.

I have a lovehate feel for Marquez. I mean, yeah he is the sass master but he knows what he's talking about. I took him two semesters ago and it was an alright class. If you pay attention you will pass. Easy as that. Don't ask what he's already gone over a bunch of times. Go to his office hours and he'll be more than happy to help. Would recommend

Prof. Marquez is a good teacher. His class is very interesting, but he is a strict grader and strict on MLA. He'll help when you need it. You MUST show up for class in order to pass.

Mr. Marquez will challenge your writing abilities, this much is true. However you will finish the class prepared to take on any future paper you might have. He will not only be there for you as a professor but a true friend. Get ready to work your ass off though for that A!

The people who don't like Professor Marquez are the ones who don't show up to class either on time or don't bother to finish all work that is assigned to them. He is an amazing helpful professor who goes out of his way to provide extra resources to help you become a better reader and writer.

Prof. Marquez is a great professor! He is tough at grading, however, you will definitely become a good if not better writer if you actually take into consideration his notes marked on your papers. He gives you the opportunity to do extra credit. Do it all!! & read the book he assigns because you will have quizzes and they will make or break you.

Professor Marquez gives a lot of feedback that will help you in your writing for future classes. Make sure you read the books he assigns because there will be quizzes. Its the small details he asks about to make sure youre actually reading. A lot of essays. Miss a day and you will miss a lot.

Definitely has lots of homework (taken him twice). The projects arent hard, theyre just tedious. Lots of reading, but he generally chooses interesting stories. Pretty clear about his expectations. He does track attendance, and youll do better in the class the more you participate when you attend. Hes pretty open for discussion. Very humorous.

I enjoyed this class and Prof. Marquez, he was honest and specific in his feedback on my work, and he was very receptive to students that put in effort. I can understand being put off by him or the work, but it's not the fault of the course or prof. This course will be better for you if you try to engage and understand rather than just pass.

This class absolutely helps you become a better writer. Instructions for every assignment are very clear. Grading criteria is clear. You need A Writers Reference to be successful in this class.

Prof. Marquez is a challenging but great teacher. Tough grader, few made it to the end, succeeding or striving for a passing grade. You will NOT pass if you skip class. The class was difficult at the start but became easier as I understood more. Improved my writing; he treated us like friends during the final projects. Definitely recommend.

Professor Marquez runs a tough but rewarding class. Attendance is a must, and the grading is strict. However, putting in the work will improve your writing skills. unstuckstudy was a helpful study tool to prep for this course.
