Quit being lazy. He is bringing so much to UHD and the CIS department. Why do students organize? It's a networking class. Sometimes you have to start from the ground up; you learn better that way (part of networking). We have learned so much from him.

The only professor who offers a HANDS-ON Networking class. This in the class to take! Tests are hard but stay focused. Do ALL assignments and turn in on time. Start final project immediately and deliver a professional briefing to specifications.

All the cry babies are lazy. The man gave a challenging class tried to show us to work as a team which is part of networking.(Comment directed to cry babies) You seem not to be a team player and can't handle a challenge you should get out of CIS.

This man works so hard, and you people don't even appreciate it! If you just took the course to slack off, get over the fact that you might not have passed! He isn't lazy, his books are very clear, and he's extremely friendly! Just be prepared to work.

Class made me think. I am not the best student in the world, but Rich made me think and apply myself. I ended up with an easy A and learned a hell of a lot doing it. Thanks Rich.

Has a different teaching style,if you actually want to learn networking this class is for you. He does require homework assignments,but all they did in expand on what is presented in the textbook.Are you in school to learn or just get a degee? Take Prof. McMahon,you will learn more than you thought.

Good proffesor, very much involved with the class he teaches. It is a hands on class in avery relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend it to anyone seeking real life work experience.

Class is hard but you learn alot. People who complained either failed or dropped. Gets you ready for the real world. Nothing feels greater than finishing the assignments. Not as bad as you think though. Standards are VERY clear. Thanks Rich!

The networking class is like a hands-on, real life experience. Dr. McMahon is not a bad guy like most make him seem. I guess you can consider it as "tough love". He pushes his students to learn new things and he only wants good for them. Sure you have to keep up with everything that goes on in class along with assignments and participation, but it

this class definitely need lots of effort and time. but nothing is easy, if you can follow all the instructions and accomplish all the assignments, you will become more competitive in related field

Class is fairly hard and requires a lot of work but on the same token it is a great jump start to your career with the hands on training. As an instructor, he is willing to work with you and to guide you PROVIDING you do your work and show some interest in the subject matter. Overall he is an excellent teacher and more of his kind in needed at UHD

Aside from being knowledgable, he shows enthusiasm & professionalism. He wants you to do your best & learn. You will sleep, dream, eat & think this class while you are enrolled. He is the author of the textbook! :) He is one of the best professors I have ever had. Follow instructions, complete all assignments, never miss a class and read.

Very helpful teacher , made the class interesting and not as hard as some thought it to be. This teacher is here to help you and is willing to do so. You just need to do your part and read the book as well as do the work and study, study , study...

Don't listen to what some people say. He is on of the most helpful, knowlegeable, sincere, (everything good)teacher of the university.He is very nice and helps a lot.Take him you will learn and have fun at the same time.

He is an easy going prof. As long as you remember that you are in COLLEGE and have to do a little study time on your own, you should do fine. Like any other class- read the text book, do your homework, and come to class and you will do well.

Put forth all your effort in class. Alot of outside work. Do everything he tells you to: take home test, TIA quizes, Myitlab, everything...you should most likly pass. 3 test n one final exam. its hard but he'll pass u if u do everyting. I KNOW CUZ I FAILED ALL 4 OF HIS TEST BUT STILL PASSED WITH B CAUSE I DID THE REST OF MY WORK.

He comes off intimidating first week but hes real cool.alot of work to be done but its easy work check vista to know wat new assigments he posts test are usually openbook just ask in class usually he'll say ok. study test bank(defn) test is timed and 100 quest multchoice most are defn.3test and 1 final test one wasntopen book later heletsuretakeall

Dr. McMahon is a great professor. The best I've had at UHD. Seems like a hardass at first, but he mellows as the semester goes on - probably to weed out slackers. Read the text, do assigned HW, do vista quizzes and the book's on-line quizzes/tests, and you'll do well. Exams are from book's test bank, so practice with quizzes and know the book.

Great teacher! You get total credit for all your work, just as long as you do it. Accepts late work up to the last day. Class is hard at first but then becomes really easy. One presentation and he does criticize your performance but everybody gets 100 and its worth 20%! EASY. EASY. EASY. I got a B.

LOVE DR MCMAHON!He gives out a lot of busy work but not hard work, gives you deadlines but extends them as needed. No need for excuses or BS, just tell him the truth and he'll help you. Deff. learned a lot from his class, although I wished he would cut out the 45 mins of random topic chat. VERY intimidating at first, but such a loveable guy.

The class isn't really hard but there is a lot of work. If you miss any assignments you fail. Final was 198 questions, multiple choice but you only have 150 mins to do it and you can't revisit answers once passed. He does this on all of his exams. He does let you use the study guides you do for homework on each test so it can help or hurt you.

Dr. McMahon is an awesome professor. Most laid-back professor I've ever taken. Easy grader, interesting, and flexible. Homework is done for credit, exams are straight out of the test bank, and quizzes were given three opportunities to get the best grade possible. I made an A, and learned a lot. These other raters were probably just too lazy to read

Took him for Spring 2012 for a hybrid class, lots of work but it's doable. He gives mandatory homework, quiz's where you can use the book, a few presentations, and test's. I found his class to not be that bad. He's a nice guy you just have to keep asking him about upcoming assignments and do the work to pass.FYI he loves to talk about old mustangs

LISTEN... This class will be what you make of it. Pay Attention, Come to Class, and put in effort, and you will leave with a good grade and knowledge of the material. Seriously a great professor, he will test you in numerous ways so be prepared.

Yes,,do not this class at all if you don't have the time to read and play on the modules all day. I had to drop this class because this class made me fell guilty for just sitting back to breathe and check on my family....lots of work. I felt like I worked for the module....stay away.....

He tells you up-front what will be required. There is a lot of work and even more reading. He grades the homework with an all or nothing grade but the tests are extremely hard. I would NOT recommend taking this class as a mini-mester class!!!

I took EIS in spring 2014 in person. At first I was skeptical about the work load which it is a lot, but if you do it you will receive a high grade. He is not a hard grader. Stick with him and you can make an easy A. At least I did and I did not put forth any effort I just did the assignments he asked for. I had a few zeros and still received an A.

Dr. McMahon is very demanding. But very fair. If you don't want to do the work, don't come to school. Yes it is a lot of work, but so is WORK. I would recommend him to anyone. Thanks Doc.

I'm surprised Dr. McMahon has such a low rating. He really is a GREAT professor! I do admit, I couldn't wait for this class was over because this class took up all my free-time; it is so much work but Dr. McMahon is very, very understanding! I highly recommend!!!

Took class as an 8 week hybrid class. It is an unbelievable amount of work. But he is not a hard grader at all! The class is actually pretty interesting and fun. He have is extra time to turn in any missed assignments.

Agree that there is a lot of homework for this class, but keep up and submit on time and it's any easy grade. He gives an opportunity for extra credit, but only at the beginning of the course - take it and it might save you a headache later. He also gives you extensions to submit your homework, submit it or you won't pass this class.

The workload for this class was ridiculous; with that being said it is a college course so you should expect to do some work. After completing the course I think of everything as a completion grade. Dr. McMahon gives plenty of opportunities for make up work. Oh, and all the grading criteria can be found in the syllabus.

TAKE THIS CLASS, Prepare yourself to do 10 module critiques, at least 2 pages long. 10 or so SAP easy assignments, due at the end of semester. Your text online and will also use VLC. Be prepared to take quizzes wi modules. USE dropbox, USE dropbox! PPT outlines each module w questions hence no surprises. ATTEND weekly meeting, helps overall!

Great Professor!

This guy is amazing. The material is hard, so therefore his tests are hard. There are ten VLC modules that you must write a paper on after completion. He grades incredibly hard, but he tells you EXACTLY what he is looking for in his grading criteria manual. He responds to emails in and extremely timely manner. Excellent professor!

He's an okay guy, if you go to his office to ask questions, he's going to help you! The material is very hard and very time consuming, if you're taking more than 12 hours, don't take this class. It's literally 30 hours of your week. Tests are hard as well. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT IN THE BEGINNING, and if you're in the class, good luck you'll need it!

First of all, I'm majoring in EIS, and this to me is a VERY TIME CONSUMING class. Probably the most work I've done in any college level course. That being said, if you do your work, you will do well. He gives you grades based on effort, not achievement. Look up VLC Learning, you will become very familiar with it if you take him.

Best teacher ever! He helped me a lot through the semester. If you ask for help he WILL help you. The class is hard but if you do what is expected you will pass.

If you think you can get through the class w/out reading all the articles, studying all modules, and not doing projects, you might as well drop the class. This teacher will not hold your hand. It is a heavy class. Don't take 4 classes if you have work and school .He gives you PowerPoints with the modules. Great professor, makes you work for the A.

Class was not easy however I found that this professor was very understanding and helpful if you emailed him. My best advice would be to study study study. Stay ahead of the syllabus deadlines and submit EVERYTHING before the due date. If you work a full time job, create a good balance,if you do not you will NOT do well. very helpful teacher

Dr. McMahon is a great person. I took this class during the Summer and there was tons of work. Reading and participation are a MUST and he expects you to do as instructed. He's very helpful! Overall, he is really tough, but fair. I really enjoyed his class and would probably take one of his classes again, although preferably not during the Summer.

4 discussion topics, easy. 5 quizzes, 2 chapters per quiz, 20 questions, easy. 4 discussion topics, moderate. 10 homeworks, 1 per chapter, use the book at the same time and you'll be fine. 2 excel problems, moderate, use youtube if you're struggling. 2 exams, moderate, you have to study. Everything available and posted in advance!
