This class is really easy if you already have a basic knowledge of bio either way he spoon feeds you whats going to be on the test during reviews. a bit arrogant little tolerance for people who dont pay attention

Seriously the subject is rather hard but he knows his stuff and by the end so do you! I recommend him!

Great professor. Lectures can be tedious, but you need to be there as his tests come directly from his lectures. Tells us what is on his exams, which were 100 multiple-choice questions. We rushed and finished the class early, which helped with my other finals. Knows his stuff.

Very easy, taught my class straight from the textbook and doesn't get thrown off when you ask him to explain things that aren't in the book. Always went over lab questions and gave everyone the right answers. Definitely an easy class.

I took this professor for biology 1 and A&P 1 and he was a great teacher. I loved the anatomy class, he breaks the test up over days and they can be hundreds of points and help you do better. If you need one of these classes I suggest taking him.

Dr.Merritt is articulate, helpful, understanding and above all fair. His lectures come from his own knowledge and from the textbook. Tests are very easy, he gives a review and gives you the answers on it. Test is exactly like the review. There are quizzes (figures of the body) study them well. Don't hesistate to ask his help!!! Well! I took him in the spring of 06 and I got a B in his class, but I was good in attendance and I had a friend there that helped me a lot, and this friend actually had a doctor as a friend who helped her! But I think Dr. Merrit is pretty good. He is hard, not easy, but he gives you the opportunity to earn a good grade if you study :)

This prof was extremely helpful and clear! Our homework was our lab book (very easy, just wants it fancy) and the tests were all the things he covered in lecture. He does an absolutely wonderful job illustrating and explaining material, and he answers any question his students have in a very understandable way. I definitely recommend him!

He's incredibly helpful, and while his class isn't outright "easy" he is still without a doubt the best Biology professor at HCC's katy campus; all my friends who had biology with different professors all struggled or had difficult times with them (and my friends are all hard working studious students)

The best teacher I've had at HCC by far! So lenient & understanding, let's you make up any exam you miss for whatever reason. You can be late to class. He mostly lectures but he makes them fun & it's usually for about an hour, class was always let out early we NEVER made it to the 2hour mark. He tells you exactly what's on exams so record reviews.

Professor Merritt is an extraordinary person. You have to work for your grade whether is in person or online. For in person record his classes. For online follow his instructions what to read and dont. You can pass this class easily without stressing. He says attendance is mandatory in his syllabus but that's false. 8 exams and no homework. A lot of reading. Do not expect him to ever start class on time or even within the same hour. I attended 1 lecture successfully but found I can just read the textbook to pass. Tests are fair but they are biweekly. Which is annoying when U have other classes.

For the first 6-8 weeks, it was online. His online lectures are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE and EXAMS ARE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. in person classes, his LECTURES ARE AMAZING. Like literally night and DAY. All of his lectures don't use powerpoint or projector, all his personal notes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Very good professor. Class was somewhat hard but I am glad I took him because his in-depth lecture and test prepared me well for my other Biology classes. Beware though, if you fail one test, it takes hard work to get back to A. Work hard from the beginning. He offers a study guide, use them. No homework or extra credit just chapter exams & finals.

Took this professor for BIOL 1306 (online-anytime). All you need to know will come from the course textbook (so you must read & focus on diagrams) and really just listen to the lectures because he might point something out that will be on the tests. Otherwise, the lectures didn't help much and relied on the book. Find good YouTube videos to help!

Okay, the professor has 8 tests and a final, no hw or other activities, some people panic and others go STRICTLY off the textbook, please take notes and take pictures of what's on the whiteboard, THAT will be what the tests are on. I found that it was great because that means I don't have to study all of the textbook just mainly the lecture notes.

Pay attention to your lectures and you will succeed. He only has 7-8 exams plus the final which he will not count if it brings your overall grade down. Very caring and understandable. Take him.

This professor is amazing! There are no assignments, just tests. Everything you needed to know for the chapters will be written on the board and discussed in class, so make sure to take pictures of the boards and pay attention. You will be required to read the textbook and look at specific figures, so be prepared to read. Overall, he was amazing!

This professor is great with providing lectures on BigBlue Button and then providing topics for each of the seven exams, with one every two weeks. Furthermore, I have to read the textbook to understand what I learned. Also, I was able to take my time for 7 exams, with the last one is limited to 2 hours, and I have to triple check every question.

He is the best professor I have ever had, he made me genuinely excited to go to class and listen to him lecture. 1306 was easy and really fun having him, I wish I had him for 1307. He only does tests in his class, so make sure you are preparing for those. If you have trouble understanding, don't be afraid to ask him! Also use crash course videos!

So glad I took him. Literally prepared the notes so that you don't have to spend hours reading the textbook. We mainly used the textbook for references for diagrams. Only graded on tests but the tests were exactly from the notes he gives. Also take additional notes while he's lecturing. You can tell he's passionate about Biology. 1000/10 recommend

This was an okay professor. I took him on Spring 2024 online anytime. He only does 4 exams and a final. No homework, no projects. He will post a 10-15 min audio letting you know what will be on the upcoming exam. Only thing I hated was the lock browser. Still managed to pass with a high B

8 tests no retakes or extra credit. I got a 89.47 if there was any way to boost it up to a 90 and he came through. It's like listening to a sweet grandpa yap about what he likes, in this case- Biology. 2 meeting days a week, he give notes and lectures n u just listen, no homework, only tests (each test r ~50 questions with matching n definitions). The bio lecture class is a must take. He has the class formatted in a lecture one week then test next format. You have to attend the lectures as they cover all the material on the tests, and you learn a lot. He is a great professor!
