Dr. Muskgrave is the most helpful professoe ever
He subbed in for my chem class for a week and I learned more from him in that one week than I had learned from my actual teacher (Monroe) in the entire term!
dr. musgrave is an excellent chemist - always willing to answer any questions - his teaching style makes chemistry easy to learn - and his aussie accent is a bonus to have in class!
Easily one of the best teachers that I have ever had for any subject. He doesn't leave material out, but instead makes it incredibly to learn. Doesn't talk down to students. Great teacher.
Definitely the best science teacher I had at SPC. Very clear and more than helpful. Only expects you to know what is important. Gives review questions that help you on the test if you do them and understand them!
Very good teacher. Makes sure you are ready for test.
Great teacher, jokes around, easy tests, what more could you want?
This teacher is the best. He explains the information intil you get it. and he makes it easy.
great teacher, strict with grading policies but tries his best to help you understand
I am taking Dr. Musgrave for Intro to Chemistry online. It is so refreshing to have a professor that teaches the material rather than unimportant triva. The fact that he writes his own modules should be viewed as a bonus rather than an intimidation.
Easiest, most helpful, teacher I've encountered. He's willing to go the extra mile to help you learn. Very nice guy, very approachable, what more can I say. He does however expect you to know the material, after all.
Great teacher! He makes everything so clear. He will answer any question, and makes sure you completly understand, infact he spends half the class time making sure no one has a question. He's just a great professor!!! A+
great teacher
One of the best teachers that I had at SPC!! He is very helpful!!
I had the fortune of taking Dr. Musrgrave for both Organic Chem 1 and 2, lecture and lab as well as Chem 2 lecture. He knows his stuff. He knows how to teach. One of the best.
He's one of the best chemistry teachers I've ever had. Very helpful and teaches really well.
I have taken Dr. Musgrave three semesters in a row now, and I am actually sad that this semester will be my last semester with him! He is an awesome teacher. I would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Musgrave is an excellent professor. He will help with out question during his office hours. He explains material clearly in class and helps you to understand any questions you may have.

this is my last semester with him. He is a really helpful teacher and i learn alot from his class.
Mister Musgrave is just ok. Not the best teacher in SPC. I think that Doctor Nixon is much better, and probably more knowledgeable (he's from Georgia Tech). I would advise people to take Mr. Musgrave if you have a very very strong background in science (and the Queen's English).
Dr. Musgrave class is very interesting. You can highly learn a lot from him. I wish I could follow his pathway and go into teaching where Dr. Musgrave is famous for his graduation at Kangaroo University. Not to mention, Dr. Musgrave is so cute because he looks like an adorable koala bear =)
Best teacher I EVER had. although the material is hard, he makes it easy by examples, review sheets, and is always in his office ready and willing to give extra help. once students realize this, they pile up outside his door!! please take this guy, you won't be sorry, in fact, you'll be motivated.
A+ for Dr. Musgrave
Dr. Musgrove cuts out all the "fluff" and teaches what you need to know to do the problems. Clear and concise, he doesn't waste time. You know what to study, and that's what is on the tests. Final was a bit hard, though. I love his accent :)
NO SURPRISE IN HIS TESTS. HE JUST PICKS PROBLEMS FROM THE STUDY GUIDE (HE JUST CHANGES THE NUMBERS...) SO, HE IS A VERY EASY TEACHER IF YOU "MEMORIZE" THE ANSWERS. HOWEVER, THOSE WHO PLAN ON TAKING THE PCAT, MCAT, OR DAT, YOU HAVE TO AVOID HIM. I PERSONALLY GOT 99% ON THE PCAT, AND NONE OF HIS LECTURES IS RELATED TO THE PCAT (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING).
I got an A, but you don't learn aything about chemistry with Mr. Musgrave. The comments below is kind of right. You can pass without understanding anything on chemistry. You just have to practice his study guide. I know a lot going for pharmacy. If you take him, you will fail the PCAT.
I hope you know everything about this class before you start taking it, or you can plan on failing. You may want to bring an interpretor because he can barely speak english. He gives extra credit to make up for his incompetence in teaching.
excellent teacher. grade A he cares about his students and wants them to learn as much as possible. very brillant mind especially in a subject that scares most students. EXCELLENT!!!

Ok, some of the preceeding comments... just wrong. Are we talking about Dr. Musgrave? He is never late, he doesn't have a "belly" with which to block the board, & his "accent" is very easy to understand. He IS an excellent teacher, because he takes a very difficult subject,& breaks it down to simple terms. Plus, he ALWAYS has time for students.
Dr. Musgrave is fantastic! He was very helpful and very clear. A word of warning, though...if you like to cheat, don't take his class. He has a knack for catching people cheating during tests.
HIghly recommended.
Gives you a huge handout of notes, sample tests and practice problems on the first day of class.
Great teacher!
Breaks everything down to easily understood concepts.
Excellent.
He is one of the easy teacher for any chemistry class. he goes over the material twice before the test, so what u got worry about?...his tests are exactly like the sample test he gives us with that big handout. STUDY THAT AND ITS EASY A.
is very helpful and he gives u practice tests that are just like his actual tests
Excellent teaching skills, very thorough, definitely recommend as instructor.
Good teacher, very thourough. Only problem I had was that he gives you a sample problem and works it out immediatly without giving a chance for you to do it on your own. I dislike the idea of having only a few tests, some things are fuzzy after a month or two.
AWESOME professor. My favorite ever. I developed a real love of org. chemistry b/c of him. The knowledge I gained from him helped me do well on my MCAT. Dr. Musgrave is very interested in orgo, loves what he does and it shows. I was actually sad when this class ended.
The chemistry teacher from the land down under. Always very helpfull, easy to understand, tons of examples. Extensive pre-test reviews and exciting lectures. Would take this teacher again in a heartbeat! He knows his stuff inside and out and is willing to go the extra mile to help you better understand chemistry. His notes have set me for life! A++

very direct, tests come directly from notes. don't have to open the book
Took for Chem, good teacher. Gives Sample test and teaches from them so its all there for you. Gives great notes and thourough explanations and even helps with prelabs. Would definitly use again!
he is really wonderful teacher.
Terrific guy. I went back to take Organic Chemistry after 5 years without sciences and he did a great job at explaining topics in a way that it included the basic knowledge without having to go back into the old books. Very fair in his grading. Overall great guy
I am a graduating senior at USF. I took number of different courses in chem, biochem, mic, gen, etc. but prof.Dr. Musgrave is my professor # 1. Helpful, fair, will know you by your name, and cares about each individual student. Go to classes, listen to his advices and Org I Org II will be a piece of cake. He should teach other prof. how to teach:)
A great teacher. Explains everything well and he has a booklet of exam practice problems that he gives in the beginning of the semester that is really similar to exam questions!
This is the most AWESOME chemistry teacher i have ever had! Makes chemistry seem like a piece of cake. Just come to class when he goes over the material and you should make an A. Plan on taking him for organic.EXCELLENT. if u read a bad review its because the person is just too dumb to be taught.Musgrave explains it so a 5 year old could get it!
Make organic chemistry a breeze - TAKE THIS GUY! The only possible obstacle in learning from him is that he is from Australia and uses funny slang Americans don't understand. He teaches clearly, concisely, gives handouts, reviews all test questions, and will work with you outside of class if you ask. One of my easiest As.
AMAZING WONDERFUL TEACHER!!!! i would recomend him to everyone and if he isnt teaching to course the semester you want to take it,,... WAIT TILL he teaches it!!!1
Dr Musgrave is awesome! He made Chem 2 a breeze. He does have a few weird sayings or two from australia but he is a ery good teacher. I would recommend him to anyone.
If you can't pass Dr. Musgraves classes you should reconsider your career path. His teaching style, and knowledge will allow you to grasp complex problems with simplicity.
he hates to be wrong and when confronted gets very angry. Hates to give someone 100%. always takes off points for the smallest mistake.
awesome teacher! took him online and he even helped me over the phone! answers emails quickly. dont have to spend hundreds on a chem book! (definite plus!) WONDERFUL ACCENT! (australian). The first time he told me "no worries love" I thought i would melt! haha! Definitely take him, I hear he is great in the classroom too!
Dr. Musgrave is the best teacher hands down. There should be more professors like him.Explains material so well that a class of 5 year olds could understand. He has notes but they are clear and straight to the point unlike other teachers. He cares about his students and he is overall the greatest prof ever!!! 5 thumbs up for Musgrave.Take his class!!
Took class online. Lots of direction, very helpful. Extra credit opportunities.
Excellent professor. Very clear, gives you everything you need to do well in the course.
Excellent!
One of the best professors I ever had! Very clear and concise.
Dr. Musgrave is the best chemistry instructor. I took him or Organic I and Lab & Organic II. He is very helpful and very thoughtful. He is simply the best. Highly recommended
Dr. Musgrave is the best chemistry teacher at SPC!!! You definitely want to take him if you can. He sets out the work evenly so it's easy to grasp and he is extremely helpful.
Dr. Musgrave defintely get a great sense of humor. He makes the class fun and interesting. You will get an A if you let him look over your lab reports 2 hours before you hand them in. Overall, he is very helpful and makes you learn. Great guy, highly recommended.
He is very fair and great professor at SPC.You will learn and get a good grade just do what he says and keep up the work!
He is great and on of the best professor at SPC.The class is n't easy but if you do what he tells you to do and you keep up the work, you 'll get a god grade even though the class isn't easy and requires a lot of work and time.He is great!
Great!!:)
Dr.Musgrave makes chemistry so easy. I didn't take Intro Chem but I still understand what he has taught so far. Great teacher!!! Answers emails (n phone) very quickly. Last time I emailed him at 11Pm n he answered me back too. Very nice teacher with extra-extra credit. You dont have to take final exam if you dont want to. Very easy class.
To sum up and display the degree of my enthusiasm for Musgrave in one statement.. "If he started a religion I would join it"
ChmII/OrgoI+II...Musgrave rocks. I wish more professors were cut from the same cloth. Whether your taking a squiz or catching koalas, you will enjoy his class.
HE IS THE BEST TEACHER IN SPC. HE IS A SMART GUY AND VERY HELPFUL. HE IS FUNNY AND HIS TEST ARE EASY. BY THE WAY YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK. HE SAVES YOUR MONEY

Intelligent, comical, always ready to lend a hand, and dreadfully handsome; what more could you ask for?
FANATASTIC! Best teacher I have ever had! I would take any class Musgrave teaches, hands down. He makes material that may be difficult easy to understand, and tells you exactly what will be on the test. I totally agree with one of the previious comments "If he started a religion...I would join it"
I took Chem I and Chem II with Dr.Musgrave and got both As. The class was so easy b/c he made it as simple as he can, PLUS Extra extra credits, so you can't not fail. I will definitely take Org I and II with him again. He rocks.
Dr. Musgrave is the best chem teacher at all SPC campuses. His test and lectures are so straight forward. He gives you option of final. Let’s put it this way... if you can not pass 1 of his classes I would consider a career change. He gives you so much extra credit. I took him for chem 1&2, organic 1&2. Waiting for him to teach biochem, highly reco
Great teacher, wish I could take him for all my classes. He is awesome, consider him a teacher and a friend. Take him for anything you can.
The best online professor at SPC. Midterm and Final are optional as long as you have an A or B. Assignments and quizs(tests) are due each week. Will help you if needed! Love Dr. Musgrave!!
Online. Great professor, breaks it down so you really understand, assignments have answers so you can check yours, has practice quizzes, gives 2 tries for credit quizzes, midterm and final optional or replaces two lowest quiz grades. Responds quickly and will answer all questions. Wish I could take general chem with him!
Dr Musgrave is awesome, very enjoyable class. I wish all professors could be as competent as him. If you want to learn Chem take his class.
I took the online CHEM 1025 course. Best online course I have taken so far at SPC. Dr Musgrave layed out a clear path to success in his Survival Guide for CHEM 1025. No text books are required. Very helpful and responsive. I learned alot and enjoyed it.
Dr. Musgrave is SO great! I took Organic Chemistry I and II with him. He is so helpful and sweet! He explains EVERYTHING, and is funny and down to earth! He has a great teaching style!!! Take his class!!!! He goes above and beyond for his students!!!
Best teacher I've ever had. He is nice, he cares, and he genuinely likes to teach. Don't piss him off though..he hates when students leave class and he will catch you if you cheat. You will not need to even think about cheating..his tests are so well organized and he NEVER makes it harder than the sample tests.
I took chemistry online. I did not need to buy the book because all of the modules were uploaded to angel. 2 attempts for ever quiz. no tests. midterm and final were both optional. Class was easy with a decent amount of work. Homework was not difficult but sometimes a little time consuming. I would recommend this teacher.
He is so awesome! Listen and follow what he says and you'll be fine!
Chemistry is hard, but Dr. Musgrave gives you all of the info. you need to survive & always responded quickly when I had questions. I don't see how anyone could complain. He is a great teacher...& I took it online. It was a lot of work, but the work is necessary to understand the material. Thank you Dr. Musgrave.
best professor i've had. this guy is great.
EASY A+ I loved this online class! Survival guide excellent & only $6.75! No other book! Middle modules challening, but short videos make it easy to understand! 9 wk summer term easy to do! 2 chances on quizs! Responds 2 email promptly! He's great! Wish others were like him! Hope 1045/46 r easy taking it w/him??! no mid/final if u dont want/need to
I took intro online in the summer and it was an easy A. Dr. Musgrave breaks everything down and you don't even need to buy the book. I would recommend him for any Chemistry class he teaches.
Good teaching style. Clear & proficient. No HW. Gives EC and accurate sample tests. Made a few errors once in awhile but still a great guy. Recheck your test after he grades it. He skipped 10 points on 3 of my tests in a row. Provides own workbook. I would recommend a schaums or similar outline rather then pay for the recommended textbook.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE BOOK!!! I promise you will regret it, it is $250 and I have NEVER even opened it! The tests are taken directly from the notes and online quizzes. Musgrave is a really fair grader, he always gives partial credit and makes it easy to get an A. Even if you completely bomb a couple tests, you can still make a good grade.
I took his on-line Intro to Chemistry lecture, he's the best!! No book purchase necessary all lecture material is provided online. The class has a flow it's challenging but do-able...have a problem? e-mail him and he'll respond "no worries" and help you through whatever...Take him over all others.
HE IS AWESOME!!! he basically hands you the test. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!! You will never use it. He gives you a blue packet and that will be your bible for this class. He has sample tests (which are the same as the test practically) his accent is awesome so he keeps your attention! I had a HORRIBLE org 1 teacher and knew nothing and still got an A!!
Dr. Musgrave is the best. He has the cutest sayings and he really knows how to explain chemistry. His enthusiasm is evident when he teaches! He gets testy with the students who don't show up regularly. His lecture kept me interested and if you study well getting an A is not hard. He also gives plenty of opportunity for EC!
I've had Dr. Musgrave for Chem 1, have him this semester for Chem 2 and Org 1, and am taking him in the summer for Org 2. He is an AMAZING teacher. He not only makes sure that you're adequately prepared for the tests, but that you actually know the material. He's by far the best teacher I've had. If you don't pass, it's definitely not his fault.
Prof. Musgrave is AWESOME. You definetly MUST MUST MUST study to get a good grade, but a good grade is achievable. You don't need the book, he gives you everything you need and is more than willing to help you outside of class if you go to his office. Great prof.
He is a good teacher in that his tests look exactly like practice tests. Other than that..If you ask him questions he comes off as arrogant and rude at times.
Great instructor!
He is the best chemistry instructor ever! Very clear and easy to understand.
Dr. Musgrave is excellent. His classes were great preparation for taking the PCAT.
If you need to take Organic Chem, I highly recommend Dr. Musgrave.
Musgrave was awesome. Great teacher and really funny guy. His tests are straight from his notes in class. Do not buy the book. I didn't need to open it once throughout the entire class.
Dr Musgrave is an excellent teacher however his grading scale isn't the best. The exams have 10 questions if you miss 2 you'll have a C or lower. He'll take off points for every little details. You have to study really hard and every little detail from his book. Do not buy the actual college book u won't need it.Overall, still his not bad
Great professor! I highly recommend him for Organic Chem.
He actually teaches! Always take him! He is the best! Take notes and do what he says. You get practice problems which help so much. A good amount of studying but you feel so good impressing your friends and family!
Had this guy for Intro to Chem online over the summer. He knows his stuff and is readily available for questions and very quick to answer emails. I am at MCC right now for Chem I (closer to home) but their chemistry teachers can't hold a candle to him! Am seriously considering transferring back for Chem II just because of him. Enough said!
Clear, concise and to the point!
BEST BEST BEST chemistry teacher ever. must take. learn so much and hes the best. he makes u get like a $200.oo book but u dont use it AT ALL. just dont get it. he only makes u get it cus so u have some reference. but he is by far the best teacher ever. 4 tests, thats is. notes online. o also extra credit online. its the best
Very clear expectations and results. I took the online CHM and you are forced to do all the work before taking any quiz which is great because you know exactly what you are doing. There are very helpful videos if needed, grading is very fair.
Right to the point. His lectures are what will be on the exam. Just study the power point with the guided solutions and you will not make less than a C.
Dr. Musgrave is the best professor ever!
If you have to take chemistry take it with Dr.Musgrave!I took him for gen chem 2 and orgo 2 over the summer. I took the clases once before and failed. After taken it with Dr. Musgrave my intrest and fascination with chemistry has been re-ignited. He is very clear and gives you tons of information to study from.Dont buy the text bookwaste of money.
Wonderful teacher. His online class has no strings attached and is very clear. Do the assignments few days before, do not wait until the last minute and you'll get an A.
I took his Chemistry 1025 class online. WOW. What a breeze. You do your assignments for each week;with that, you are set for a good grade. The midterm and final are on campus and closed book, but there is a sample midterm and a sample final exam which are pretty similar to the real thing. I would DEFINITELY recommend him. I got an A+ in his class.
He is one of the best professors that SPC has to offer. I had him for Organic I and II, and I used all his notes in preparing for the graduate admission test. I highly reccommend everyone to take this professor, he made me love organic chemistry! You WILL NOT regret taking Dr. Musgrave! He knows his stuff and very helpful during office hours!!
By far the best professor I have had. He should be teaching a course on how to teach a course. His exams are concise and to the point, you only need to know what is important. If you plan on taking the PCAT or MCAT, Take Musgrave, Screw Kaplan
His online tutorials are top notch! Great Prof!!
Dr. Musgraves online chemistry was top notch. Even if you are new to chemistry he makes the class intersting and enjoyable to learn.
Online: He gives you the resources and instructional video per lesson(work ahead). You do the work and the practice and you will understand how to work chemistry. It's pretty cool actually. 12 lessons total. Midterm is the 1st 6. Final is the last 6. If you need him for add'l assistance he KINDLY acknowledges your need for successful understanding.
This man is the god of chemistry. He is thorough and straight to the point. Follow his notes and do all of the practice exams and you will succeed. My Chem 1 teacher was horrible and then I heard about Musgrave, he is a tough grader but he gives you all the tools to succeed. One of the best professors that SPC employs!
He is a great professor. Ofcourse you have to study but he's always there to help. I would recommend him to evrebody
There is no other person to take other then him for ur subject at hand. Stop looking! How to get A: Do old tests he gives and print notes from online in the begining of semester. No surprises on test. use ur notes to learn how to do OLD TESTS and your test will be a replica. He gives extra helpt on angel (online SPC) to help. Put time in easy A.
This guy is not only a great teacher, but has an excellent character. Very down to earth, well rounded, witty, tight, smashing, etc. If he wasn't married, he'd be getting all the babes with his charm and knowledge of connecting juicy particles.
I absolutely love Musgrave! I wish there were more teachers like him that actually care for their students. He is helpful and concerned when you don't understand. Replies to emails right away. You know what to expect on tests. Even has lecture videos online so you can review. Provides plenty of practice. Take Musgrave, will regret if u don't!
Musgrave is AWESOME, i am taking him again for org2. He gives you many tools for learning, if people dont do good it is because they dont put in the time. The class is very time consuming but put in your time and you will do fine ;)
Took him online. Would suggest him. I had a hard time one night at Starbucks and sent him and email 10minutes later at 11:30 at night he gave me a call and walked me through the situation. I would suggest this teacher.
I took his online intro class. He responds in a timely manner to emails and goes out of his way to help you succeed. He called me one day because I did not properly submit a quiz. He gave me a few more hours to do turn it in. He could have just given me a zero. Thanks Dr Musgrave
I took him online and if you DO all the work and take the practice quizzes you will do fine. He lays everything out in order by due date, and puts up videos to help with the problems. I actually like chemistry now, and I didn't think I would!
Dr. Musgrave is an awesome teacher. Took his Intro Chem lecture online. He makes it super easy to understand (the SURVIVAL Guide that he helped write is amazing)
Took online. Do not buy book. You can download the survival guide pages for each module, so you don't have to buy that either. His lectures online are great! Perfect intro class!! When he tells you to not wait till the last minute to complete certain modules, listen!
Does NOT prepare you for MCAT,DAT,OAT or PCAT. Outstanding for teaching what he thinks is important. But you will have to teach yourself alot for the graduate exam!
Good instructor, but he tricks you on exams. The final was the HARDEST of all tests with compounds never discussed for you to figure out. Exams are short but questions are worth between 15-30 points each. Screw up one and you're DONE. Extra credit is designed to help those who don't need it. Don't take with any other classes.
Although I do like this professors teaching style, and how crystal clear he is with explaining things, his tests are much harder than he prepares you for. Each question is worth many points so a tiny mistake that should only be worth a few points usually takes off a minimum 10%.
This is my second semester taking one of his classes, and I so wish I had time to go to his Organic CHM. He's extremely easy to understand and literally gives you everything to you to succeed and get an A in his class. The tests aren't easy, but they aren't hard if you just study using the old tests. Also, his accent doesn't hurt either!
this guy takes a lot of points off for a small mistake
not helpful not as good as people say he is and he makes it more complicated than it is
his lectures are base on how to pass his tests. He does take off points from small mistakes. His tests are not easy as it looks. His xtra credits are very cruel. don't do it if U don't have time. Spend more time on his old tests. If you wanted to do well in this class then don't take this with other classes. An "A" is achievable with lots of effort.
Dr. Musgrave is a GREAT instructor. He always goes over the material in class and allows for questions. He wants you to understand the material, not memorize it; for that reason he's very clear and thorough. His grading is not tough, it is just precise. You must use correct format, after all this is chemistry! :)
He's extremely easy to understand and literally gives you EVERYTHING you need succeed in his class. He is very picky when grading bc he expects you to know the material and details. (he has all the old tests online so you have access to them and No surprises!). orgo 2 next sem with him and i wouldn't pick a different prof!!!
His class is a very tough one! I only got my A with lots of studies on my own. If you have a question in class, he won't teach again if he has already done in the past. He is super sarcastic, and when a student isn't doing well in his class, he has an enjoyment in his eyes, and a smile in his face to tell you won't pass with no compassion at all.
I took this course online. I recommend this teacher. Save money and only get the book that he wrote. I worked through every problem and watched the video explanations. These were both very helpful. Some things that are difficult is that the answers have to be typed in exactly as he did it. Rounding can produce different answer.
I had this professor in the Spring 2012 semester, and he's honestly one of the best professors you'll find for Orgo Chem. His videos are a life-saver, his notes are crystal-clear, and he has a fantastic sense of humour. If you're willing to put in the time to learn, it's very difficult to do poorly in this class - he tells you what he expects!
Musgrave is a really good teacher and has a great sense of humor. I just finished Orgo 1 and lab. He doesn't give surprises on the tests and if you study , you"ll find the tests easy. For lab, he makes sure you"re doing everything correctly and his grading is really fair. Also, he's really nice and approachable
he will gives you everything to study. All his old tests and answers are under the lesson tabs. You will need to know MECHANISM for orgo2. Crystal clear about the mechanism during lecture. Put some time and effort into each test, you'll be fine. Don't ever tries to SCRAM study in ORGO2. Practice all mechanism, you'll get "A".
Dr. Musgrave is the best! He really prepares you for the test by supplying an enormous amount of study materials. He really explains things and takes the time in class to answer questions and never makes you feel stupid for asking. Plus, he makes chemistry interesting! TAKE HIM and you'll do great.
This guy answers e-mails promptly until around midnight. He is the most accessible and helpful teacher I have ever met. I took the course online and waited till the last minute to do all of the assignments, and I would not recommend trying that because it is a lot of material to learn. Put more time in than I did and the A will be in reach.
This professor deserves an award for best teacher at SPC
Absolutely the best professor at SPC
best teacher ever. great notes and online Minnie lectures. fast response to email and goes over everything really well + practice tests. plus funny. loved him and got a A+ in orgo 1 & 2 with him.
I took this class online and it was great. He sent out an email every week and was available if you needed help. He provided lots of study materials. One could not complain that he did not provide enough information because he had very thorough homework and videos. Recommend this professor greatly. I learned a lot this semester.
Took this class online and I have no complaints. Professor Musgrave gave plenty of worksheets/videos to study from, tons of extra credit, sent out weekly emails for reminders, and replied to emails super fast. Perfect professor and class, will be taking him for higher chem classes.
Intelligent, sarcastic, and overall a great teacher. Think before you speak, my biggest complaint about this course was too many people asking stupid questions in class. Its no wonder he is a sarcastic smart ass… ;)
Best teacher at SPC hands down. I have taken all of my chemistry with him. Answers emails immediately, grades are up within a day or two, extremely intelligent - his dedication is very appreciated. I'm sad I don't have any more classes to take with him :(
Awesome teacher. I am taking his class online this semester. He goes out of his way to help if needed and very quick to reply to any questions you might have. If you put in the work you will get an A in his class. Highly recommend taking him.
I recommend Dr. Musgrave to everyone!I failed in class w a diff prof and took him after. Never thought an online chem course would be so much more suitable but he is SO clear & helpful! 5pts possible xtra credit each week, 2 quiz attempts, provides videos and email help. Really wants to see students do well. TAKE HIM, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! :)
Professor Musgrave was always crystal clear about what he wanted. Sent out weekly e-mails and responded to e-mails fairly quickly. Plenty of extra credit and video tutorials that were extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend him!
Buy the Chem. Survival guide and watch his video tutorials for each module and you should be fine. Just don't wait till Sunday to do everything like me. Midterm is modules 1-6 and its 20% of grade and Final is only modules 7-12 and is also 20% of grade. Quizzes were alright. I got an 85 B and missed 3 modules. PS. he also offers some extra credit.
Awesome lecturer. He is clear about grading and what is going to be on the test. There is studying involved but he makes that easy with a cheap textbook with problems to do. Always fair with grading.
Dr. Musgrave is a true college professor. He knows how to teach and he teaches what's important. Tests aren't exactly easy but he puts out old tests and answers out so you can easily learn the subject. I've always struggled with Chemistry but he teaches it a very understandable way. I will definitely be taking him for Organic 1 and 2!
Take him! You dont have to buy the textbook, he has one he wrote himself thats super clear and simple. You have 1 assignment, 1 quiz, and 1 extra credit option a week. You have unlimited attempts at the assignments and e.c. and 2 tries for quiz. Watch the videos he provides. Do the practice exams like 5 times, the real ones are nearly the same!
2 chances for the weekly quiz. He shows how to do every assignment problem in a videos. Australian accent keeps it fresh. 'Extra credit' is just reading it online instead of in your book and working the examples. Don't NEED txt book, but $16, I got it. I was intimidated because I don't like math, overall, 99%A! Class is designed to pass with an A!
Hands down the best professor anyone could ever hope to have for Orgo! He not only makes everything so clear and easy to understand, but is also a super cool guy. Buy his workbook. Before tests DO ALL the old exams he posts online for practice, make sure you practice all the mechs until you could do them in your sleep and you'll be golden.
He is a wonderful teacher who knows what hes teaching and how to explain it clearly. I drove an hour 2 days a week for two semesters just to take him because no one compares to his teaching. Its a tough subject and I put a lot of time into studying and preparing for his tests but it is possible. Take him!!!!!!
Dr Musgrave is awesome. I took this class online during summer, it wasn't hard but was tough enough to keep me busy. The class was self-explanatory based on the syllabus. Do practice Midterm and Final many times, you will sure pass the class. The professor is quick to respond email and he even CALL you. A+ . GREATEST ONLINE CLASS EVER
I got A's and B's on all the extra credit but failed all his tests. He gives old tests to study but they did not seem useful when test time came. He seems a bit of a show-off and I did not feel comfortable asking him questions. I would recommend Dr. Shelley over him. Much better teacher who cares more about his students.
Love his accent! Cares about his students being successful but also expects you to take the time to understand and learn the material. He makes himself available if you need help. One of my favorite professors Ive ever had. Work hard, ask for help if needed, and you will do well.
These reviews are misleading. As someone mentioned below, you can pass the quizzes and study for hours but once test time comes, you'll fail if you're not perfect. He is intimidating and a bit mean even though he tries to hide it with jokes.
Hands down probably the most organized and thoughtful professor that I've ever had. Very communicative, responds quickly, and provides a ton of material. Use his resources, give yourself time to complete his work, and you should be fine :)
This class wasn't to bad as long as you do the work. The assignment problems can be kind of tricky, but he has a video for every problem and how to work through it. He will help you any way he can and responds to emails quickly. Take him! midterm and a final are proctored, but he puts out lots of practice for them.
He's a great professor, teaches the mechanics inside out. incredibly clear about everything but he presents the material in a very complicated way. I prefer simplicity in a professors teaching methods. tests are only seven Q's weighted heavily, you can ace every question but get one step wrong in one Question and it will cost you a letter grade
He really honestly cares about if you understand the concept and will continually give funny examples to try and make the subject lighter and less daunting.
Had Musgrave for 2 semesters and he was well worth the 45 min. drive. He lets you study from old tests (!!!) & other useful study tools which I assume is why he is a tough grader. Make sure you understand mechs like it's your new favorite hobby; study study study those mechs and you'll be fine. He really is a nice & very organized professor.
He is the best chemistry teacher. I took him four four chemistry classes and I got an A in every single one of them. He gives you old tests to study from and extra credit on tests or by online quizzes!! Study his old tests to pass! The test he gives you will be exactly like those but different numbers/chemicals. Study and you'll get an A!
He is a good teacher, if you actually put time and effort into his class you have a good chance of getting an A. Lots of material online which is great for studying, although I didn't go to class for half the semester and did fine. Beware, he can be really rude sometimes.
chemistry is not my friend. im struggling in chem 2. i went to the tutors for help and they hardly remembered the material, i had 3 tutors trying to help me solve one problem. so i figured going to the professor would be better. nope. he was rude, demeaning and told me to review the material online. he basically called me dumb.
Best chemistry professor. He makes understanding the concepts easier than just putting together a power point. He provides plenty of examples and resources that can help with the extra credit and quizzes. Also provides old exams so that you can study from. If you do all the work he provides than the exams will be easy. Do the work, get an A.
I've always had a hard time with chem and he's the first instructor to actually help me succeed. He breaks everything down into the most simple form to make it easy to grasp. Actually cares if you understand the material and goes out of his way to help you succeed if you ask for help. He also provided the text online rather than buying a book.
Material is extremely easy, theres just a lot that you have to keep up with. By far one of the best professors I've ever taken. Easy A if your are serious about your studies.
Doesn't even require you to know the mechanisms, super easy class if you just study his reviews which are exactly like his exams pretty much. Easy A if you're looking to get through orgo but I don't think he is going to be helpful in passing your MCAT, OAT, DAT since we don't go over many concepts and so on.
I've never earned anything less than an A, and this is the first class I have carried a failing grade throughout. Your entire grade is based on four tests and a final. Tests have very few questions, and Dr. Musgrave is a harsh grader. He is not helpful, and can be rude. Once in lecture, he answered a student's question with "that's the way it is".
This class is certainly the most draining academic experience yet. Although Musgrave is very knowledgeable about the subject he lacks the ability to actually teach it. His character doesn't help either, he is by far the rudest and most condescending person I have met. Do not take his class if you value your mental health.
Took him for gen chem 1 and taking him for chem 2 next semester. Makes a difficult subject easy. His class requires a lot of work, but definitely worth doing, especially since most of it is worth extra credit.
Beware of taking him in the summer. Theres a lot of homework LOTS. Some modules have 100 questions other have 40 to 30 questions. If you can take this class during a full semester because the key to passing the class is the homework. The homework is helpful but there is to much of it.
Gives alot of homework with 100 question quizes, Puts in zeros for everything until you complete the assignment so being able to easily check your grade is not an option.
Good professor when it comes to teaching the material however he could be demeaning at times
I would highly recommend taking Dr. Musgrave for any chemistry class. Although he does assign a lot of homework and quizzes they are only there to help you. I have always hated any science class and I enjoy chemistry and thoroughly understand It because of him. He has an accent but is easy to understand and is very patient in class.
No need to buy a textbook because the text provided online was super easy to take notes from. I do not regret not taking lecture because I learned the material well enough to pass the two on-campus exams. He really put a lot of work into his online format and I respect him for that. I am not sure about higher level science classes online.
Excellent at explaining concepts; patient in answering ques. A ton of homework, but if you do the work, you will be prepared for the tests. Attendance not taken beyond the first few weeks & the book is not needed as he teaches from the Softchalk exercises & Survival Guide only. There is opportunity for extra credit & ways to exempt the final.
This class was conducted in a manner that always leaves you guessing. He would partially answer & then leave you to figure it out. But, you don't know if you're right until it's graded. It's odd because in lecture he is exactly opposite, encouraging lots of ??? and answering in full. I would look around for someone who wants to teach during lab.
He is an excellent professor. Breaks down complex and new concepts to us, the beginners. He provides you with homework exercises, quizzes, and extra credit opportunities. He gives you everything you need to be successful in this class. You just need to follow. I am taking him again for General chemistry. He has a passion for chemistry!!!!
Musgrave was an amazing professor. I took Intro - Gen Chem II with him and he really gave me a great basis. Now taking Organic I at UF and I really don't think I would be as comfortable in the class as I am right now if it weren't for him. He starts exposing you to elements of orgo towards the end of chem II, giving a really great basis.
Worst teacher gives you tons of homework and practice quizzes that are worth nothing just to get to a 6 question credit quiz! Tests in class are not multiple choice
Great teacher. Funny, helpful and gives good lectures. Although test heavy class, gives extra credit opportunities and all his tests are clearly laid out.
Best professor Ive had. Cares about his students and gives you more than enough reliable resources to study from. His lectures are long but he makes jokes to keep your attention. Has review days before tests and answers emails very fast. You cant beat his classes, will definitely take again for future chemistry classes.
Professor Musgrave has been my FAVORITE teacher for the simple reason that he has videos on how to answer all kinds of problems, and they are very short videos so they aren't super time consuming. You have to make sure you look at his videos and his lectures in order to pass, as well he allows you to take a practice test as many times as you want!
I have taken Dr. Musgrave for all my chems from intro to organic. He gives alot of extra credit opperties that can go toward your test grade. There is 4 Tests, if you get over 90 percent with extra credit on all you dont have to take final. He gives 4 practice tests for each test so you know what you will be the test. Study Blue book examples!
Youre going to be graded on 4 major tests and your final just replaces the lowest test grade. So if youre not the greatest test taker especially if you are easily overwhelmed by the pressure I highly dont recommend this class. Cause there are extra credit opportunities you can receive but it doesnt really help much.
No need to buy a textbook for the online CHM1025 class, all lectures come from a website that he links in the course content for each module. One quiz, assignment, practice quiz, and credit quiz per mod and sometimes a discussion post. Easy way to learn chemistry and Prof Musgrave makes the class even more comprehensive with videos for each section
I won't recommend others to take him in the summer because there is a lot of homework assignments to do (time consuming). If you practiced his sample test, you will do fine on his test. He gives you ton of resources to help you understand the lesson. I was scared of taking him at first due to the bad reviews but he isn't that bad.
There is a lot of homework, but it is helpful in preparing you for the tests. He is VERY clear about his expectation and what you need to do to get a good grade. If you're willing to put in the time, as you should in a college class, then you will be able to pass without a problem. He's a wonderful man with a dry, yet hilarious, sense of humor.
I did not like his teaching style. Tests were easy to pass if you copy previous work (he gives you this). Very few questions on tests and many points deducted for little errors. Wont retake him.
Absolutely amazing semester with Dr. Musgrave. I cannot stress enough that if you love or even just tolerate chemistry that you should take him every time you can. I have never had a professor or teacher that cares about student success like he does. He has consistently gone above and beyond when it comes to teaching and it shows.
If you are able to retain information easily, and be able to answer essay questions related to chemical equations, then go for it. Some test questions are 'implied' from previous semesters, rather than stated. So if you want to pass, look at the examples he gives you on old tests, rather than trying to understand the process to prepare. 0/5 no.
You need to study a lot if you take this class online. Very nice professor and is willing to work with you.
I have had Dr. Musgrave for a couple chem classes now. Hes a good professor but he was always condescending when I asked for help, which made me not want to reach out to him. I spent countless hours doing the HW/studying and he would make me feel like a dim wit because I needed help with a couple things.
1 word to describe Dr. Musgrave is "amazing." He provides ample homework, extra-credit quizzes, and study guides for his tests, you have to purposely fail his test not to pass. He responds to email instantaneously and explains what he wants with clarity on his syllabus so there is no secret pop up assignments or tests. Take him you won't disappoin
I've spent the last year looking for more opportunities to take his classes. He spends the time and really cares. If you try in class you can't fail. He will spend 1 on 1 time with anyone who needs the help. Class is fun, energetic and fulfilling.
Dr. Musgrave is the best instructor I've every had. He's hilarious in lecture! I've taken him for multiple chemistry courses now. He makes a difficult subject as easy to understand as possible. He provides so many resources and plenty of opportunity for extra credit. Pay attention in class and do the practice and you'll get a good grade.
he's so rude and passive aggressive, whenever someone asks for help he makes it seem like it's the persons fault for not understanding and acts like his course is perfect therefore there's no way somebody could be confused. He's not helpful at all and just tells people to watch his videos if they need help
I had such a hard time in this class because I felt like I was not able to ask for help. I had 2 instances of technical issues regarding assignments and he proceeded to suggest it was my fault and I was not able to make up my grade. He is not helpful what so ever and assumes you can understand by the information he has provided. Terrible experience
I was on the verge of a meltdown one night because I did not understand the material, Professor Musgrave called me at 9pm on a Friday night and spent an hour on the phone with me to help me go over materials that I was not understanding. I took my grade from an F to a C because he was patient and helped me understand. I am taking him next semester.
This class is very heavily weighted on tests: 4 tests and if you get above an 80 average then you exempt the final. There is hw and extra credit put it is only worth around 5 points for each chapter. There is no textbook so the material is based on the videos/ pp. If you study and do well on the test you will pass with an A. He can be strict.
Professor Musgrave is the best professor you could take for chem. I had him for chem 2 and orgo 1 and he is the best. His classes online are not mandatory however I recommend that you attend for your own sake (thats why I got a c) For orgo its a lot of work but musgrave provides everything you need to pass its just up to you todo the work!
Probably the hardest class Ive had so far but its manageable if you put in the work. Hes a kind man with a big heart and is very forgiving. He knows what hes doing and is always available to offer help if you need it.
he's funny and lays out the class expectations. Not very approachable when asking questions during class (liveonline). He was definitely accesible but, i prefered to get tutoring via SPC. the lab is a LOT of work for 1 credit. pre lab, lab book, results lab and post lab. i believe there is a lab final at the end. The lecture is really the hard part
Dr. Musgrave tough but fair. He is as clear with instructions/criteria/examples as it can be. He gives you ALL the tools you need to succeed. If you want to understand chemistry - take him. He is truly the best. There are no surprises. When you earn your A - you know you deserve it!
Prof. Musgrave knows what he is talking about. His chemistry two class is graded through 4 tests, and a final which can be skipped, but only if you get A's on all 4 previous tests. Each test has opportunity for extra credit. Online attendance is not mandatory. Musgrave is a great teacher, but won't cut you any slack unless you've worked for it.
Professor Musgrave is tough but extremely fair. I loved the layout of his class. 4 tests, tons of extra credit, and an optional final. You are given an ungraded practice test w/unlimited attempts for every test that is nearly identical to the real test. If you put in the work its an easy A. The lab was kind of tough but not impossible.
There are 4 tests and a final and they are all proctored with honorlock. They are VERY heavily weighted and the only other credit you get is from assignments basically worth no points compared to the tests. He is condescending, so made me uncomfy asking for help on anything. SO much tutoring from other sources. Not understanding at all/ no slack.
Orgo is infamous for being a tough course, but he explained the material from the lecture slides very well. Easy to understand. What I did not appreciate was being condescended to, made to feel so uncomfortable when asking questions, and being actively insulted during Zoom lectures. So glad attendance isn't mandatory. Completely unprofessional.
It's very strange seeing positive reviews of Musgrave on here, as my experience with him has been legitimately terrible. During class he is extraordinarily mean to students, going so far as to belittle his class and yell at people for the slightest thing. A huge disappointment, as I was very excited to take Chem II.
Dr. Musgrave is one of the best professors I have ever had. He cares about his student's success and offers extra help if needed. He went out of his way to make videos further explaining every topic you learn. Your grade is based off of the 4 tests you take but the practice tests are almost exactly like the real one and there is ample extra credit.
Dr. Musgrave's teaching method involves watching pre-recorded lectures and discussing them in class time. He doesn't teach; if he does, it is with condescension. Musgrave is a master of Organic chemistry and expects students to start at his level. Do not elect Musgrave for any classes.
You are graded on four tests and a final but for each test there is extra credit. Each test also has a practice test with the same questions as the real test and there is a video for each problem. In class he goes over notes from the chapter and then problems on that chapter. He does go a little faster than other classes with material though.
If you just want to pass the class with good grade, he is the best. But if you are going for dental or any medical field then I would suggest not to take him. He does not teach topics, he only teaches the questions he's gonna ask in the test. Even though I got an A in class, I did not really learned anything for my DAT.
Dr. Musgrave is a fantastic professor! I took him for Chem II and Orgo II and would definitely take him again if I could. He is the most caring professor I have ever seen as he provides so many resources to succeed and exactly what he wants on his tests. His tests are heavily weighted, but easy. As long as you work, you'll do well and understand.
My third time attempting to take Intro to Chem. and I passed. Its really all thanks to him! Exams were super easy and very similar to his practice tests, (I wish more professors did that). He offered extra credit and plus for the assignments he has YT videos for all questions with answers. EASY A! Just don't be lazy and skip the final like I did!
For the labs, the explanations are very short yet the lab reports are soo intricate, not every question is gone over. He made a 1 credit class a stressful experience he's good at lecture but just take an easier professor for lab cause he's too nitpicky for a class that's worth only ONE credit.
Dr. Musgrave is awesome. He is very clear on what is going to be on the exams. Respectful and caring. You have to put in work but Chemistry is a hard subject in general. You have to study! Definitely taking him again!
Every week you had a Knowledge Quiz with unlimited attempts. Homework, with all of the answers provided for you in a youtube video he made, again with unlimited attempts. A practice quiz with unlimited attempts. And a Credit quiz with 2 attempts. Every 3 modules, you had a test. It was a pretty easy course. Modules 5 and 6 are the most difficult.
Grade is based on only tests but practice tests are very similar to actual tests so do them and ace them and then you should ace the tests and get a solid grade. Provides detailed videos and instructions
He was hot/cold when it came to approachability- I never knew what kind of mood/response to expect w/ email. Will report your final grade as lower than it is. A 95 goes in the book as a 90. And ultimately maybe that doesn't matter an A is an A.. but also seems pretty sketch to me. A 100 would be an A too but he didn't choose to enter it as that..
His courses for the lab and the class are fairly straightforward and simple. The class is easy so long as you do the work. Plenty of resources provided. Do take note that he is very blunt when spoken to.
The tests are easy, IF YOU PRACTICE. I would take the practice tests 10+ times (they are quick if you get the hang of it) The tests are the same as the practice tests, I have gotten the same questions on the practice as the test. .
Dr. Musgrave is the best professor ever! His grading criteria is very clear, and it is extremely easy to pass this course with an A, as long as you attempt the ungraded practice test several times, since they are identical to the real tests. Moreover, he makes every topic very easy to understand with his efficient explanations.
This guy is HILARIOUS WITH THE WAY HE GRADES. You'd think you woul;d get some sort of partial credit especially in a class like ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. BUT NOOOOOOOOOO even on questions that are worth HALF OF THE EXAM (1/13 questions) you do not get any partial credit even if you got the question 75% correct and made a tiny ass mistake. SAVE YOUR GPA
It can be an easy course if you like to watch YouTube videos recorded 4 years ago and are a good test taker. Very passive-aggressive and not helpful in emails when asked to go in-depth. No partial credit on a 34-answer question worth 50 points. An in-person class would be better than this professor's outdated lectures that only go over examples.
The professor has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, you can do well. The exams are tough but similar to the practice tests. For study prep, using resources like unstuckstudy ai, ChatGPT, and the free textbook can be very helpful. Overall, a challenging but manageable class.
Musgrave is great! Each test (there are 4) has a practice test that is almost identical to the actual test. This makes it extremely easy to prepare, and the questions are never a surprise. Everything is laid out clearly and he gives you extra time for the harder modules. He responds quickly. Great professor highly recommend!
This class was alright for the most part, but once it got down to exempting the final exam, he didn't actually let you exempt. He put a 0 in for the exam which brought my grade down to a B so I was forced to take the exam even though I was able to exempt. He was very rude to my questions and emails and I was overall unhappy with him.
This professor will not give you any partial credit even if your answer is only wrong due to wrong spelling. When asked for an explanation to a problem, he does not give an adequate explanation. Overall, I can't review this professor because its almost like he doesn't even exist. Expect minimal feedback. Course is essentially self-taught.
Tests exactly like practice exam. You have plenty of time todo hw and as long as you do good on the practice test you'll do good on the test. Your Final grade is determined by your lowest test grade + ec for test. If your got 100 on 3 tests but 80 on 4th you would have a b before final. Probably why review under me couldn't exempt even with an A.
He is one of the best professors I ever had. I've taken his lecture and lab classes and he makes Chemistry an easy subject to understand, specially Orgo that so many students are afraid of. The exam reviews are very helpful and he drops the lowest score as long as you take the final. Just make sure you don't miss class without a reasonable excuse.
He's a good teacher, but his test formatting is near impossible. No partial credit on heavily graded areas of tests. All it takes is one simple mistake and you can drop 2 letter grades. Even though you understand the concepts, even though you got it mostly right, but again, make one simple error, BOOM instead of an A, you get a C.
DON'T TAKE HIS LAB. I had to contact the dean of science to transfer to a new lab. He gave unclear instructions about calculations, and when I told him I didn't understand, he made me come up to the board and berated me to the point of tears. He told me I had "nothing to cry about" and had me go finish my calculations. He doesn't even deserve a 1.
DO NOT TAKE HIS LAB! THAT'S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!
If you value your mental health. Don't take this class. If you value your gpa, don't take this class. He doesn't work with students. He's an EXTREMELY picky grader. He doesn't offer partial credit either, for even simple, minute errors on exams or homework. You're either perfect or you're a failure. There's not an in between for the guy.
Watch his videos to learn the material and do the practice test many times until you consistently get an A on each attempt, since the questions on the practice test are identical to the actual test. 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐🐐
Piperidine and Phenazo made this course so much better. Please don't mess with the all time 🐐 Richard Musgrave.
ruined my 4.0 GPA because his videos and PDF's to read ourselves were too difficult to self-teach with, I had to go and watch other videos on YT. to top it all off, your overall grade is based on your lowest test score so honestly nothing matters. this professor ruined my GPA over a dumb intro course. save yourself, avoid at all costs.
He is a good professor and gives good reviews for tests. The only down side is that the grade is very test heavy and it is crucial to do well in each one.
Only a handful of people survived his class. Most dropped out. I lost 2 letter grades on a test, for mistaking a propyl for an ethyl group. No partial credit. He's unapproachable. Literally the worst professor I've ever had. His online exam format is atrocious. Avoid his course if you value your mental health and GPA. Heed the warnings....
If you take his classes, know that you will be teaching yourself, instead of him teaching you. Also, the questions in his tests sometimes go against the things he makes you learn in his videos. Would not recommend
Dont do it, heavy material, format to study is hard to understand even with the lecture videos. Has 4 exams & 1 final, 1 extra credit per exam except final that are worth 1 point. Exams will determine your overall grade. Each answer per question needs to be PERFECT or its 0. Few questions worth half exam grade & rest few points. Its ALL OR NOTHING!
Do not take his class if you like to learn. Musgrave is a bare bones professor who seems to hate his job (or students who knows). He gives an ungraded copy of the test and the basic background, no more no less. and its structured in a way you cannot use other recourses. He gives no constructive feedback typically a "its in the notes" or "do better"
Gives you a practice test before each test that is identical to the real test. Also really accessible. Dr. Musgrave should really have a higher rating.
Practice tests are EXACTLY like the graded exams. Study them religiously and do them until you can get an A each time. Most accessible prof. I've ever had, responds the same day even on weekends. His mini-lectures are up on YouTube and are very easy to understand, you can watch them ahead of time if you want to pre-study. I personally loved him
Not very good. His teaching style is very weird. There are no classes - instead you watch the videos on his youtube channel and teach yourself. Basically doing his job for him. The videos are background info and not very useful for the test. The test itself is unfair too - some questions are worth more than 25%. He replies quickly but isnt helpful
Make sure you take the ungraded test several times until you get a 100 because the real test are very similar to them!
100% teaching yourself the powerpoint and test review will be the only way you pass his lectures are barely helpful only useful to get the mechanisms so you can teach yourself. idk if in person is different but online is just ok.
Worse than orgo 1. Lectures are largely unhelpful only to get a basic understanding you will only survive by taking the ungraded test to a tutor as often as possible. Actually easy once you figure it out but it's no thanks to him.
His attitude is cold and inflexible. I was 1000% sure I submitted two quizzes, but they showed as missed. His reply was basically “not reopening, sorry.” Even if you try, he doesn't allow resubmissions or second chances. Not a bad prof, just too strict and cold, hard to ask for help.
He hasn't updated his teaching style in a very long time. Most of his videos are from 2011. Has a horrible way of testing where there are multiple answers for one question, and if you select one wrong one or forget to pick a correct one, you get 0 credit even if you got the other answers correct. Just save yourself the headache.
Im not sure if this professor is stressed outside of his lecture but he sure seems to be taking it out on his students. I do his homework and he allows multiple attempts. I had three errors and changed them all, he doesn't grade it until after the due date and there are no attempts left and then tells me I have three errors elsewhere. Horrible prsn
Amazing. Study a week out by spamming the practice test and do the homework ahead of time. If you do this, an A+ isn't hard to get.
Clearly there is not enough negative reviews of this guy so here I am to leave one as I believe in honesty. This guy was very unapproachable, his final was very much different than what we learned and his practice exams, and he was very condescending to me whenever I asked for help. Avoid this man at all costs
Took orgo 1 lecture with him. Tests identical to practice test, graded only on test. Amazing videos for review, clear expectations. Hard to get good feedback from him, but overall amazing prof online.
Mr. Musgrave is very direct, which can come off as rude. But if you have questions still reach out. I highly recommend you do all of the work and do not wait until the last minute. The practice test are identical to the test with different elements of course. The lowest grade of 5 test (including final) is dropped.
