A funny professor. You won't feel bored on his lesson.
a lot homework, very flexible easy going, he's going to help you a lot he has his own way to explain any subjet and surely you will understand everthing in class I highly recomend him he is very good English teacher A+

He is a good teacher. He is patient and kind. He has his special teaching manner to fit every student. They are interested when he is teaching. Please take his classes.
great teacher, a lot of hw but helpful, special way teaching, impressive.
A good teacher. All the students love him. Choose his class is your first choice. Trust me. Don't hesitate.
every day I was looking foward to go to his classes excellent teacher. very helpful, he take cares his students. I wish can take all my english classes with him. PROFESSOR MYERS, YOU ARE THE BEST AND ALL THE STUDENTS LOVE YOU. mary @
he is a really good teacher, i started like writing since i've been his class. i took him in summer and he let us talk to each other during the quiz. he always accept late work and won't take points off because it's late. but you have to show up in class, and don't be late. he is very funny too. i never felt bored in his class. i love him!
He's great teacher and he is so funny. you will pass his class so easy and get a high grade.
Great and enthusiastic teacher. Just listen to him, keep up with the assignments and you'll do fine.
Mr.Myers is very nice and funny. He makes the whole class feels hapi and relaxed.he just gives many homework.but it is very helpful.u will write essay fluently afta taking his class.he said that we r looking for the quality of teaching.he encourages students ask questions.he loves to have conversations with students.help thinkin much more critically
I loike him. He has a terrible sense of humor, but I loike him.
He's cute!I couldn't stop laughing in his class. Though his homework is a lot, after taking his class, I am never afraid of any essay assignments from other courses. I would love to take his ENGL 1C later! A very special and hot teacher!(TP)
Excellent professor!!!Mr Myers lets me understand the problems for my English writing. He is also a very funny teacher. Nice guy!!!I like his active English class.A++++++
This is the best English teacher ever! HIGHLY recommend! His class was always interesting. Always willing to help you with anything you don't understand.
Richard is the best English Prof I've ever had. He is also a wonderful and very open minded person who plays Golf. jk He loves teaching and make the class period productive and enjoyable. Strongly recommended! I loved his British Accent so very much.
He is good teacher. He is funny guy. i will take his class again..
Mr Myers is an excellent professor. But you really need to study hard to pass his class. For example, you need to finish about 20 assignments in summer .The other classes may only have 5-6 assignments. The toipc which coverd in Enlish 1A is very broad. You will learn topics such as Chinese economy, death, science, art, immigrant, oil price. The class is A+++
He is a great professor to improve my ability of writing; His class covers a lot of matters such as Economy,Philosophy,Immigrant, Religion,Death,Polity, so I learned a lot from him. I like this class very much. He is a nice and funny person.
HILARIOUS professor. He is an English man that loves what he does. (Even though it apparently wasn't his DREAM hahah) He makes me want to go to the class. Great great great professor.
Hilarious! And makes you feel very comfortable. He uses examples all the time to make you better understand things.
Mr. Myers is my favorite professor of all time. He made me want to come to class, and lectures were entertaining and helpful. One research paper, and a bunch of other papers, but he fully explains what he is looking for. If you attend class and pay attention you will pass.
freakin great. he makes class enjoyable. he expects a little much but he pushes you to do well. always helpful and you accepts emailed papers. he does not limit your writing. i would highly recommend him so you know how great this teacher is
Very funny but TOO MUCH hw. He expects a lot from you
he is hilarious! and such a good professor, he REALLY knows what he is talking about. kind of a lot of work, but as long as you don't drop and stick with it, you'll be sure to pass. just don't be lazy! probably the best professor i've had at sac yet!
this was by far the best english teacher ive had. he made writing essays fun! and even though i was hoping for an A and got a B instead i still apreciate the fact that i was one of his students. if you take this class you wont regret it (: his lessons in class are meaningful and you learn alot.
Took him in the winter. I think he tries to scare people off intentionally the first day of class, but he's not as bad as he makes himself out to be. There is a good amount of work, but not "hard" work. Funny, love his accent. I even convinced my brother to take a lit class with him because he's such a cool teacher. Highly recommend! (:
the class will start off hard because this prof cares about learning. if youre looking for an easy class dont take him, but if you want to learn he is the guy. extremely funny with his english accent. he explains stuff with a lot of funny analogies.
Myers is a good teacher but he gives a lot of essays! His class helps you with organization & improvement of your writing skills. He always kept the class interesting with his stories. If you ask for help, he'll help you! Take home final (essay) & a huge research paper due in the term. Take him for a good (doable) challenge!
Nice guy and easy class, but his instruction leaves something to be desired. Doesn't offer feedback that will help you improve your work. The help he DOES offer is vague. Good instructor if the class isn't your major. If it is, you'll be disappointed.
A very cool teacher. Encourages you to be a better student. I knew right from the first day that I'm going to like his class and I am close to the end now and I love it. He's very reasonable with due dates too.
GREAT teacher scares you at first but then is an amazing teacher RECOMMENDED!!
He is an awesome professor. He challenges students to think and assigns interesting topics. If your lazy and though I wouldn't recommend.
Richard Myers is a great, great professor! My confidence in writing have increase after completing his class. He gives a lot of work, but it's well worth it at the end. Also, he might be a little intimidating at the beginning, but trust me, stick around. He is helpful and really cares about his students education.
This has by far been my favorite teacher, it is rare to find a professor like him who challenges you who teaches you how to think rather than what to think.
One of the most funniest, intellectual, eccentric professors you will ever meet. His expectations are high, but if you try hard enough, he'll recognize that. He gives quite a bit of work, so there's no room for lagging in his class. Overall, one of the best English instructors you could ask for.
He is awesome and has heart to teach. He cares about your learning attitude. If you attend the lessons and SI sections, and turn in hw punctually, you get an easy A.
GREAT TEACHER!! he will help you and answer your questions clearly.. TAKE THIS CLASS. Easy class
One of the best! He's pretty tough and gives lots of hw+essays, but if you go to office hours and participate alot in class he will always try his best to explain. He likes to joke around and be sarcastic, but he's really cool and makes you think. He's also understanding about due dates too, just make sure to talk to him! Overall, great teacher!
Mr. Myers is a great professor!! Yes you get a crap load of work to do, but suck it up!! Seriously, if you are not going to put an effort in doing the essays he assigns, don't waste your time!! He might intimidate you at first, but he is not! Just a funny guy, you have to get his flow! Great class!
One of the best out there
MYERS ARE AN AMAZING TEACHER! i will take him for next classes (english 68, eng 1a) He made me in love with english now. thank him!!!
Tons of essays but that's the only way you can improve as a writer. Definitely read the textbook; his tests are all from the book. Lots of group discussions, which are all fun and real eye-openers. I seriously LOVE his class! He is hilarious and oftentimes he goes off on tangents but that's what makes his class so enjoyable!
great proffesor very linient on assigment due dates if you ask him for an extension and can help you on your writing skills that would need improving
This class is hard as a hell. If you do not want to put a lot of effort into this class. You better not take Myer's class.
He is SO AMAZING professor! My first language is not english but this professor made me in love with english. He taught us really clear. i believe he give lot of essays but that is not bad at all. i improve each time i turn in my essays!! writing centers are best thing to go when you take his class.
This is the best English professor I have ever had. He is very fun but he gives a lot of work. Honestly, if you do all the work and give him great papers you are most likely to get an A or A+. Even though he is funny and awesome he can be pretty difficult.DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE LAZY!Do prewrite and show that you are fixing your mistakes.
Professor Myers is literally the best. He's funny, understanding, clever, clear, and fair. I wish I had professors like him now at USC. His class teaches you so much about your beliefs and yourself if you let it. Not an easy A, but completely worth it and do-able, I got A+'s on every essay with some hard work. Highly, highly recommend!
He is a great teacher. Crazy like other English teachers. Interesting and fun class. Makes you write quite a few essays, but other than that not much hw assigned. if you do the work you will get an A
A very good instructor. Thanks to him I now enjoy writing. I also started reading books for fun. As an English teacher he is an inspiration. Very funny, witty, and clever. Take him for a learning adventure.
Amazing professor. He was extremely funny and explained everything. His class is not for the lazy. Just do your work which was not much and you'll be okay. I wish I could take all my english classes with him.
Great teacher, very funny, loves prewriting, just put in the effort and he will see it. One of my favorite teachers.
Taking Professor Myers' class is a rewarding experience. He is not afraid of being straight forward and showing his colorful personality during his lecture. He might sound harsh at first but he only does that to show how much he cares you. Whoever likes Professor Myers knows that he teaches for the love of education. A wonderful teacher.
Best teacher I had in Mt.Sac! Fun, smart, friendly, understanding, and help you improve in your writing. You'll never got bored in his class.
I really appreciated this professor and the pathways program, Would do it all over but was VERY STRESSFUL! Do not expect to come to class and not work or flake on your work. He is straight forward and i loved that because you knew who came to handle business. The first days will be intimidating, but its not for the weak either. LOTS OF READING!
This is surely one of the best class I had. Lots of reading and writing, but at the end of the class, you'll feel that you really have learned a lot from the professor. And it is always a bonus that the professor gets a sense of humor.
If you want to actually learn then definitely take. He is serious and wants all his students to succeed. If you do not put the effort then drop now. You have to try your best. Do not be late he will call you out on it. I barely passed english class in past and in his pathways classes both A's. Able to find readings online without purchase.
Supercilious, egocentric, condescending, derisive. Numerous times he made snide remarks about our intelligence, at one point asking us to prove to him we had more than 2 brain cells. He loves to hear himself talk, unhelpful, doesn't teach it's just one big group discussion, if you're shy DON'T take. the nickname for Richard aptly suits him.
There will be lots of writing. However, he is always willing to discuss your paper and give feedback but you need to take the initiative. Advice-don't get behind on assignments! Take him!
If you're taking this class for English 67 (The easiest English level) get ready to be having mad homework, reading a book, essays, quizzes, and tests. At first, I thought he was pretty cool and funny until the drop date has passed. He loves talking about himself, how intelligent he is, and he also judges students. My advice: Skip this professor.
Just do the work and you're good. Show proof that you revised essays for an easy grade.
Assigns way too much work...........
This professor will overwork you to the point of death. Every week there will be 1 or 2 essays due and he will grade them hard.
Essentially, this professor is GREAT at lecturing and definitely gets students to think and respond much better. He will definitely make you better at this but expect some serious amount of reading and writing. Overall though I would highly recommend this class to those that are serious but you will not regret it.
It was not a easy class, but you learn a lot from this class.
His class is highly linked to real life. He explains that he runs his class the same ways one might run a business. Those who do the work get rewards, those who don't don't. Simple as that. He deeply encouraged pushing the envelope on analysis. If you can keep up with his pace, then this class will pretty much be a breeze.
Professor Myers is by far the best English teacher at Mt. Sac. He forces his students to use critical thinking and looks for intelligence in the essays he assigns. Showing up to class is super beneficial because he will hold discussions on readings that will end up becoming essays. His class is a workload but you will become a better writer.
He's cool but only take his class if you don't have others. He gives more homework than I've ever had in my other classes combined. The work is excessive and unnecessary for this course. Be ready to clear your schedule.
He cares about his students a lot and wants everybody talk and share their opinions. I am fine with Professor Myers and he actually help me a lot about talking. He has a lot of homework and around 2-3 papers per week, but the grades are always good if he saw your processes.
He assigns a lot of homework and classwork but it all correlates with the essays you're being assigned. For the English 68 class, he mentioned at the beginning of the class he was teaching it like a college English course. A lot of tutors said it was the same material as a Eng. 1A class. I would definitely take him for another English class.
I took him for my spring semester and I loved the class. It seemed a bit stressful at times as he always wants one to think outside the box and write 5+pages each time, but now that I passed his course I see how great his class was. The class discusses controversial and heavy topics so don't forget to bring your notebook for ideas and notes!
Professor myers is very funny. He is straight forward. He believes in his students and pushes them to reach their fullest potential. Don't take during the summer! By law you need a set number of essays so, we wrote an essay per week during six weeks. A lot of reading, but the readings help. Gives great feedback on how to improve your writing.
There was approximately three book you must get if you want to pass. He is not hard but not easy. You want to pass you need to do the work plain and simple. Expect to do a good amount of essays and have reading every week. He is a cool teacher and explains everything plus some and i mean some of his jokes are funny. You will feel accomplish after.
Gosh , I've attempted to take Eng. 67 with other prof. but they made class drag, be boring , and just not interesting. I finally decided to try rate my prof. and chose to take Myers. This man is awesome, aside from his sometimes out of line jokes they are hilarious. He tries hard to push you at the beginning but after that you are on your own .
I took him in Eng 67, and I learned a lot from him, and I still remember anything he taught in the class. In Summer semester I take him for English 1A. It is rough, but I passed the class and learned something and it gave me a great benefit for me in university. I enjoy his teaching, and he is hilarious. Even he gives a lot of works, but he expect
Fun guy, I highly recommend him for Engl.67 & any other higher Engl. classes. Gives lots of hw, essays tend to be complicated. Etc..
Professor Myers is a very well read man. He gives a substantial amount of reading and writing assignments, but it made me a better writer. His feedback is very specific and helpful. Professor Myers has a TC (someone who helps you understand the material and goes more in depth with concepts ) for every class. I would recommend taking his class.
Originally when I read these comments I was terrified and even considered dropping his class. I'm glad I didn't drop because I feel like I have grown so much. There is not reason why anyone should fail this class because there is a tutor available for all papers. People need to work for their grades and stop complaining about having to do work.
Richard was an amazing professor. He expects a lot from his students and expects accountability. He assigned a lot of essays and is very clear of how he grades. If your honest and up front with him he will work with you.
I really enjoyed his eye opening lectures and his genuine love for the English language. He was often extremely blunt, but he grew on the class because of his uncanny wit. I really appreciated how he expected every student to produce their best work for every assignment because it really enriched the quality of learning throughout the course.
Pros: Not to difficult and extremely entertaining, satirical as well as thought provoking. Cons: Get ready to read a lot. By the last few months, you have to be able to produce 1 essay per week. No joke.
English is my worst subject and with his help, I did really good. He is a great professor.
Professor Myers is amazing. He takes great interest in his students and expects them to do their best. He provides all information needed either through lecture, review, or reading. There is a lot of reading and writing to be done. Always gives feedback so you can do better next time. He is funny, blunt and very smart. Take his class it's great!
What he teach u is different from what he show on his syllabus. Be careful with ur study time before u decide to take him. Good luck my friend.
Great Professor!! As long as you do the work and show up to class you have a good chance on passing the class! One of the best professor I've ever had at Mt. Sac.
Took Myers for English 67 to English 1A, I will be honest I was scared at first to take him, he seemed hard. Yes you do a lot of essays but it helps you get better at writing . There is a lot of group work, so be careful not to be with the same people you might be moved! And a lot of reading!! So you better read!! But over all he's great!!
Professor Myers is a great professor. He has a very sarcastic humor but he's hilarious, trust me. Yes, he gives a lot of essays and there is a lot of reading to do as well but all the work he assigns in the end pays off. He truly wants his students to become better writers and is honest with his feedback. By far the best professor i've ever had.
I took Myers for English 1A and English 68 at the same time and let me tell you everyone in the class felt like they were drowning in essays, but in all honesty it was so worth it. if you want any easy A don't take this class, but if you want to be prepared for UCs I highly recommend. if you're on top of your deadlines then you'll pass.
Taken for both ENGL1A & 66. If you're looking for an easy A, look elsewhere. Myers is a hardcore English professor because he's preparing you to become a great writer, even when you thought you were already good. Pros: no tests/quizzes, along with honest feedback. Cons: a lot of: essay writing, reading, and work. It pays off in the end.
Get ready to read and write your heart out. Really funny.
Sooooooo many papers. You might feel like you're drowning in them, but he will definitely make you a better writer. If you want to learn, this is the professor to take. Be prepared to put the time, effort, and work in.
I personally hate writing classes before taking Myers. After taking him for the first semester, I decided to take him again for all of my writing requirement classes. I got A in all of them. he is the best professor i ever had at Mt. Sac. wish to have him for some other classes in the future
He'll come off a little scary upon first meeting him, but believe me, taking his class is definitely worth it. It's true that at times things may come off a little harsh but the reality of it all is that he's just trying to push you to your best potential. Get ready to do some work and enjoy the ride along the way---you won't regret it.
Richard is a real down to earth guy with a great sense of humor. If you get offended easily then he is not right for you. He is big on writing assignments, but grades fairly. Taking his class in the Winter intersession was not a walk in the park, but I enjoyed the class.
You will come out of this class at the end of the semester woke. Take him if you want to discover the fruits of life.
Myers is great. Even if you are stressed out by all the work, you can't hate him. Definitely charismatic. Honestly it is a lot of work, but if you try your best and he can see that, you won't have a problem. He is very encouraging and easy to talk to. He is very clear about what is expected in essays and his lectures are insightful and coherent.
Great teacher, if you are shy don't take his class. He likes to prepare people for the real world so if you aren't ready for the real world(Discussions, formulating your own answers, showing up, putting in actual work) then you aren't ready for this class. he will also jokingly clown on people, but it is in no way malicious and he does it for all
Influential. Amazing. Inspiring. Understanding. Really wonderful teacher that challenges you to pick up your slacks and write your heart out. This is a great class if you love to learn and want to better your writing skills for the 4-year colleges.
One of my favorite professors of all time <3. He is the funniest and scariest man I have ever encountered. He gives a lot of feedback and advice when it comes to essay structure and exactly what he expects an essay to consist of. He is very social and can hold a conversation if it is interesting. He cares about his students success and is lenient.
Professor Myers is truly one of the best professors I've ever had. His class is not an easy A, although, if you work hard and make it noticeable then it will pay off. All assignments are mostly essays that are given back to back.
Myers is an amazing English professor. He helps you find the deeper meaning to the stories and opens your eyes to the many possibilities in the world. He has an easy grading system. As long as you can understand and follow his teaching style the class will not be hard to pass. If you want an A you gotta work for it. He wants well-written papers.
He gives out a lot to read and gives out a lot of papers, so I do not recommend taking this class to juggle with others. If you become interested in his assigned readings, his class becomes more pleasant and friendly overall. The class environment involves group discussions, but overall they help with the construction of your papers. Tons of Work.
In class Myers is hilarious and will not fail to make you laugh, unless you're too stressed from all the work he gives to be able to enjoy the jokes, but out of class you're piled with not only essays, but readings as well. His class wasn't hard, just a lot of work and the only way you'd be able to finish the work is if you make time for everything
Professor Myers is an excellent teacher who really challenges you to expand your learning experience. He assigns a lot of reading and writing assignments, but if you stay ontop of them you should do fine. The profesor will also give you additional points if you turn in multiple steps of your writing process! I would definitely recommend you do so:)
Myers honestly is a great teacher, always challenging you intellectually. If you take this class be ready for A LOT of reading, and A LOT of writing! Your going to be getting essays on top of essays, with strict deadlines! Hes not one of the easier teachers, but definitely grows you educationally!
overall great teacher, you do get assigned many papers instead of homework and quizzes but he gives you plenty of time to complete them and offers extensions. As time goes by you will catch on to his grading. even if you suck at papers, if he sees you trying you will be fine, definitely recommend him for English!!
Currently taking professors Myers English 1A class and for someone who works full-time I'd recommend taking his class. He gives great feedback, lots of content for papers he assigns and will overall make you a great writer. Definetly makes you read between the lines. He's super Woke! After a long day of work I really enjoyed coming to his class.
I chose to take Myerss class because i wanted to be challenged academically and thats exactly what happened. He makes you think outside the box with everything you do. He encourages group work to obtain different viewpoints from each person in the class. There were a lot of essays but he grades fair and gives great feedback.
Professor Myers really has outdone this class in the simplest, yet stressful ways possible. Although it is stressful, its mainly on you to really consider your effort in this class. This class is mainly consisted of essay assignments but is overall doable as he gives you time to do your things in the class. I recommend taking this Professor for 1A
Myers gives aLOt of papers. At like 2 points in the semester you'll have 2 or 3 essay's at the same time . With the essay's you're required to show proof that you worked on your essay, like 2 rough drafts,a visit to the writing center, little notes that you wrote. Also when you go in groups to talk,he hates it when you go to the same people.
The textbooks are used regularly. All his homework are essays based on the books you read. His grading does become more critical, but he focuses on the amount of effort used. There are group discussions mostly every class, but it does allow you to become more talkative with the other classmates. Lastly, he is hilarious and easy to talk too.
Took him for fall 2019 and I think he's a great professor. He gives you everything you need to pass, it's up to you whether you do. Attendance and reading basically makes the class and there's alot of writing but you can always ask for feedback. Overall, he was super great.
Dude is super chill and will not hesitate to call your ass out if you're being dumb I swear this dude pulls the most weird facts from his ass but they are always interesting ones with like deeper meaning so I always looked forward to them gives papers but if you find a more profound meaning in all the literature you'll see how fun his class can be
He had a hard time with canvas, he didn't teach, and his assignments weren't clear despite handing out so many reading and writing assignments.
Great professor. Gave alot of work, which required alot of reading. Gave very good constructive criticism on papers, the feedback was clear enough to build upon. Was approachable when help was needed. As long as you showed that you put in effort, he would do everything possible to help you earn a good grade
Read before coming to class because you will break off into groups to pick apart the readings at the beginning of class. It works because it allows you to get ideas for your essays that you probably wouldn't have thought of on your own. He's very approachable and cares about you passing the class. He's also pretty funny too! Made English bearable!!
Disclaimer: I don't struggle in this subject BUT I am certainly not above average... Myers is a special prof. He seems very harsh but in reality all he cares about is what YOU have to SAY. You can't fool him with half hearted papers but he is a very lenient grader, gives lots of time in between deadlines, and gives lots of extra credit.
To be honest, when I first looked at the reviews before taking him, I was very scared. However, different people will have different views on him. I got an A for every essay and assignment and I have to say it really depends on your hard work that counts. As long as you bleed tears into your assignments, an A is definitely secured.
The book you will read is 100% worth the money, and the textbook is needed because half of your assignments will be needed off of it. I recommend Chegg, but that's my opinion. Myers is a great prof but you need to be ready to write as he likes essays to be a certain way but will give great feedback as you need it.
He insults his students regularly calling them stupid, etc. Completely unprofessional.
Pros:Professor Myers is very intelligent and kind, listens to his emails, and provides minimal assignments Cons:THERE WERE NO PRERECORDED LECTURES! Only had 11 assignments and 2 books, there were nearly no notes for us to record except for around 6 mini note announcements (Canvas), readings were assigned NEARLY 2 MONTHS prior to assignments
One of the best teachers I've had. Learned to truly digest topics when reading them and I believe this was one of his main goals. Now he is a tough grader, but he wants you to get it and learn. Get a tutor! it helped me so much!
Richard Myers is one of the most influential professors that I've had. Do the readings, do his few assignments, follow his feedback, participate, and you'll do great! One thing is he does not give clear instructions but I found that helped me write more creatively.
Love his class, he gives you opportunities to do great if you are willing to put your effort into the assignments.
Easy A
He cares less about grammar and punctuation, more about how you creatively "unpacked" what you got out of the reading in your "writing process". You will have to read at least one book of short stories, and several articles and you'll write about all of it. Demands a lot, but you'll learn a lot and will give you a lot to succeed like extra credit.
Loved this class, there was never a dull day. Myers is an amazing professor with a different approach to writing, he cares little for grammar, but more about your interpretation of the material. He is willing to help as long as you put in the work and turn in your assignments. Very hilarious and chill professor! would recommend.
Prof Myer is hilarious, and he sometimes can be a little offensive. The class was enjoyable, with little reading and no tests. His way of writing and grading is quite strange, but you will get used to it. On the downside, the workload was not properly distributed, as we had 3 essays and one in-class assignment during the last month of the class.
He's a great teacher and really tells it like it is. His class is quick and easy, pay attention and stay on top of assignments then you won't fail.
Myers was cool. To pass his class you NEED to the work. He is very nice when it comes to extensions. Just do the essays and you're fine, lowkey even if you don't try on them. Also make sure you know the deadlines for them cause if you're behind on one you will be really behind once you get to the final.
really chill prof, and provides really good feedback to help your writing be the best it can be. He really wants his students to succeed so there's really no way you could fail this class. amazing prof, take him! :)
He's tough, but it's worth it. I'm a much better writer because of him. English is my least favorite subject, but I really enjoyed taking his class. He can be a little intimidating, but he's tough on his students, because he really wants them to succeed. As long as you complete all the essays you will pass his class.
One of my favorite professors ever!! Definitely intimidating at first, but he's actually quite the comedian, and very dedicated to seeing his students succeed. Workload wasn't bad, and he really emphasizes "proof of process" in your writing, so as long as you try hard, he'll give you a good grade on your papers. The BEST teacher you could have :)
Took him over summer, and LOVED his class. It was fairly easy even though it was a six week course. Gave so much time in class to begin papers, very helpful & inspirational. Definitely want to take him for English 1C.
Myers is an awesome professor, yes at first he is a bit intimidating but once you get to know his sense of humor he is hilarious. He cares about his students, he likes to see improvement each time you submit an essay. The class was fairly easy just pay attention, do the work and you'll do great!
When the professor asks for proof of process do it. Make sure that when the professor asks you to take an idea and break it apart that you go in many different directions. The professor is fun and really helps you develop your writing skills.
Myers is one of the best professors. This class is easy if you stay on top of your work. The essays can feel overwhelming if you hold them off until the last minute, and showing evidence of the processes is essential to getting a good grade in this course. Myers is very understanding and easy to talk to if you need an extension on any assignment.
Not accommodating to students requests. Thinks the world needs to cater to him
An engaging professor who really helps develop your writing skills. While the workload is reasonable, staying on top of assignments is key. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my essay prep.
This professor is a tough one and has high expectations of you. However, other than that, he has helped me with my reading and writing skills. Even though, I was always scared to go into his class and he was intimidating. There is a lot of reading involved. Be prepared. He doesn't really have a reading schedule which made me confuse.
He's a great professor and you will get a lot out of the class. The class is a lot of reading and writing! My advice is start reading the material as soon as you get it.
Honestly, teaches with no clear content, and he teaches with the style opposite to other professors. He didn't teach real stuff and talked too much nonsense during the class, I am telling the truth he is a really irresponsible and bad professor, I definitely learn and absorb nothing from his class, the only thing that I learned is his mean tone.
Most difficult professor ever. Doesn't actually teach, just rambles on about himself and how he is God's gift to humanity. I did not really learn anything. Always puts down students for simply trying make simple requests.
We had 13, 6-page minimum essays in a 16-week course, when other professors assign 4. Feedback was unclear, minimal support was provided, and goes off on unrelated tangents about his personal life. I would not recommend enrolling in his course.
Very good professor! He is interesting, the class is very fun, but there's a lot of work to do in his class. He grades you based on your effort which is very fair. The most important thing is , you can really take away something out of his class, try him!
This class was fairly easy, don't be discouraged by negative reviews. He grades based on effort, so don't expect to get an A if you are not putting some type of effort! Workload was decent, the key to this class was avoiding procrastinating and getting work done ASAP. I enjoyed this professor a lot 12/10. I'm not the smartest person, still got an A
He is funny, but he can be intimidating. The good thing for those who really care about your grade is that he only grades based on your effort. I'm not good at writing, but I still got an A. Lots of writing, so he might not be a good choice for those who don't have much time.
Not very approachable, funny, and graded more on work (# of drafts) for essays, definently feels more like a sociology class than english class, always going on some odd tangents but overall a fun class, but not if you just want a simple english writing class.
Take anyone else. In his own words he 'facilitates' and he does not 'teach.' So so many essays, he gives you criteria but gets mad when you don't go above and beyond for him. he acts like he's god's gift for man and spends half the semester talking about how we aren't good enough. Emphasis on effort, so try and you'll be okay but he makes it hell.
Really nice if you don't get on his bad side. Wants students to succeed not just in class but in life. A lot of essays are only if you procrastinate on the last day. There were discussion posts and fishbowls that were discussion presentations. Just follow his instructions on what to write. I love the peer evals as they help me rewrite my papers.
Professor Myers is a great professor. Don't get me wrong, he can be tough to grade, but I feel like he really cares about us & developing our critical thinking. The way he does it is by making us consider all points of view and questioning fundamental imperatives on morality (+current events) For the semester here at Mt. SAC we read HBAOP & TRTU.
