Hutchinson is an awesome professor!!! You do NOT need the book in this class. He is very passionate about the subject and he is funny and interesting! He is so nice and very fair! As long as you go to class and take notes you will pass! GOOD LUCK!

I highly recommend this teacher if you do not mind going to class. His tests come strictly from the notes and are very easy if you took notes. Nothing comes from book. His class was not too boring and he really knows what he is talking about and loves subject. three tests are your grade.

I took Hutchinson for Religion in Society. This class was both interesting and easy; we had 3 exams each with a multiple choice section (taken in class) and take-home essay questions. We also had to do a "faith project" which was another easy A. Only downside to this class was the ceaseless discussion of the controversy about the ground zero mosque

He is very easy and very clear what is going to be on the exams. Come to class, take notes, you don't use the book at all in this class. As long as you come to class and take notes you are set.

He is a very nice teacher who is very interesting in this subject. It's an easy A if you go to class and take notes. There is a quiz at the end of each week which makes it easy to keep your grade up. We never used the book in class and all of the questions on the quizzes and tests were directly from his notes. very good teacher.

He is Awesome, he changed things up this semester and added weekly quizzes to the syllabus, along with the 3 exams. Everything is based on notes/lecture, if you go to class and take notes its an easy A. He is really funny. Attendance is not required but you really should go!

Dr. Hutchinson is a great professor. Class had 4 OPEN BOOK multiple choice tests and 3 take home essays due on day of the test. He is very passionate about the class. He lectures, but is VERY enthusiastic. I loved the class and I'm registered for 2 of his classes next semester. Attendance not mandatory, but somethings on test are from lectures.

TAKE HUTCHINSON. He is seriously the best. I hate reading and we didn't need the book, so don't bother getting it. The tests only cover lecture material and practice quizzes, so go to class and take the quizzes! Very clear and straightforward about what will be on the tests.

He's a really nice guy. Vibrant and always has a smile on his face. I had him for social org, it was SO. BORING. Not his fault though. We had two take home essay exams that are 8-10 pages, and one big case study on a corporation that's broken up throughout the semester to two 5 page papers. Really easy grader. Best of a bad class. The best online class I have ever taken. He takes the time to ensure that the students are learning what they need to learn, and reinforces it with lectures (which is not usual for online classes)! He is not a hard grader, but wants to make sure you are getting what you need to from a college level class. Definitely worth the extra money and time!

Dr. Hutchinson's Principles of Sociology class was quite enjoyable. He's very respectful to his students, he has a great sense of humor, and you can tell that he's passionate about the field of sociology. I will say that he drags his lectures out to the very last second, which can be pretty painful at times.

The test only covers what he talks about inlecture, so if you come to class and pay attention (lecture is pretty interesting so it shouldn't be hard), you'll get an A. He gives study guides and practice quizzes (those questions will be on the exam) for the exams, which are very straightforward multiple-choice. I got a 99 with minimal studying

Gosh! He is alright. He is very tough and very picky. Grade consists of three essay exams and four multiple choice exams. The exams are not a walk in the park; this is also true for the essay exams. He lectures from beginning to the end of class so be prepared for that. I would choose another professor for criminology. Easy AB course. Got a 91.8%.

This class is extremely boring, but it isn't his fault. The book is SO important so get it! It is hard to understand the material, but he explains it all in class if you listen, but if you don't then you just have to figure it out yourself when you write your papers. Dr. Hutchinson is my favorite professor at KSU! I've had him as my professor at least three times and always look for him first when registering. He's extremely passionate about what he teaches and manages to make even the most boring topics interesting. As long as you come to class and take decent notes, you'll be just fine.

He's definitely a weird guy, but I'd totally take him again. Honestly, I found his class and teaching method annoying at the time but now that I'm in higher level classes I'm really glad I took his course. I learned a lot and the way he teaches really committed it to my memory. 3 papers and 3 tests which are open book/note/paper. Great class.

Prof Hutchinson is an awesome and funny professor. He made having sociology as an 8 AM a lot less painful. This class isn't hard at all and although he takes attendance, it doesn't count towards your grade so honestly doesn't matter whether you come or not. He always posts review sheets and practice quizzes on D2L which ARE A LOT LIKE his exams!!

Awesome! Quite passionate about subject. Lectures are very interesting and inspirational. If you aren't open minded, do not take. He can be opinionated sometimes. I found myself enjoying Sociology more than I anticipated. Attendance is not a requirement. Though, find a friend to exchange notes with in the event you can't make it for lectures.

Mr. Hutchinson is so energetic and makes class very relatable in real world events. I had him for an 8 am and was never put to sleep. Honestly, if you show up to class, you should not have a problem passing the class. I found Dr. Hutchinson's lectures thoroughly entertaining and he incorporates humor to keep you engaged. Your grade is based purely on 3 tests, but he posts ungraded quizzes on D2L with identical questions to the ones found on the test along with review sheets.

There are 3 tests. show up to class. but before each test he puts quizzes (not for a grade) online, overall about 20-25 questions and if you do them and memorize them, those exact questions are on the test so you're guaranteed at least a 50. He also gives a study guide at the beginning of every unit and everything on there is on the test. great

TAKE HIM. Even though he's extremely liberal in his views, Dr. Hutchinson was an amazing and hilarious professor. You MUST show up to class because he only lectures and writes on the board. TESTS ARE SUPER EASY if you do the quizzes and write down what he writes down. 3 tests and that's it. Lowest grade I made was a 91.

Hutchinson is the most humorous teacher I've had by far! I took him for intro to Sociology, Social theory and Criminology. For Criminology you need the book (he lets you use it for tests) he also lets you use your notes. SHOW UP TO CLASS!! Easy A if you take notes. Very liberal.

One of the best teachers I've had! His tests are very easy if you attend his lectures and read his powerpoints! You can get an A even if you don't attend class because he uploads all his powerpoints online. His tests are very straightforward. Only grades in class are 3 tests and a final.

Hes a hardcore democrat. But hes pretty funny and gives great lectures which you HAVE TO TAKE NOTES ON. I only missed one class and did pretty well, but one guy only made it to a class or two and he got an A so it doesnt matter if you go or not, but you have to have good notes handy to pass.

Dr. Hutchinson is one of my favorite professors. I only took Sociology for a social science credit, but now I've signed up for Foundations of Social Theory with him. He's funny and genuinely cares about the topics he teaches. He's also very opinionated, so don't take him if you're really close-minded. Overall a great professor :)

his class consists of 4 unit tests. He was honestly very educated and pretty funny. the key to passing this class is to take very good notes and to read the questions carefully. I am a horrible test taker and his tests were manageable because they were open note. He includes 4 practice quizzes which give 15-20 tests questions. TAKE HIM!

Professor Hutchinson is a nice guy and is very knowledgeable. However, you are only graded on 4 discussion posts & 4 exams, two of which are only 10 question MC & the other two are essay questions (3 questions that require 2 pages each) it is very tricky to do well in his class. He also takes like the whole semester to get grades back.

Took the online class. Your grade is based on 4 100pt tests. At the start of each unit,he gave us a study guide to refer to as we listened to his lectures and looked at his slides. He also had practice quizzes that you could take to prepare for tests. Most of the quiz questions were on the test! If you fail this class,it's because YOU wanted to!

his tests are directly from the textbook his lectures. He does not allow outside sources because of the fact that all the material can be found in the lectures. Make sure you are copying everything word for word and you'll do great. I wish all my professors were like him.

I absolutely loved professor Hutchinson! I did not agree with some of the things he lectured on but he is by far one of the best professors I have had. He only has 4 tests that make up your final grade so go to class and listen and you will do great. Such a kind-hearted funny man.

I liked this class. Final grade relies on 4 test throughout the semester that are open note, internet is blocked during the test. Take notes during the lecture, answers to test questions can be found straight from there! He requires a textbook, I never used it only my notes. Attendance is taken but not required. Every class is a lecture by PowerPoint. He covers a lot of information but there are only 4 grades, which are 50 questions exams. The exams are online with lockdown browser only blocking internet, he gives you about a week to complete. Attendance is taken but not graded, show up for notes. I bought the textbook required didnt use it.

Lecture heavy (goes off topic a lot) but everything he says is on our essays/exams. He allows open notes & on the essay exams you can only use your notes from the lecture, not google etc. The 1st paper is 8 pg, 2nd paper 10-13 pgs, our final paper 8-10 pgs. Only 6 grades in the grade book. Overall he is a professor who loves to teach

Dr. Hutchinson is my favorite professor at KSU. I have taken multiple of his classes and have enjoyed all of them. He rarely uses powerpoints for lectures, which I personally enjoy. You can tell he is very passionate about the topics he teaches. He is very approachable and easy to talk to. I definitely recommend taking one of his classes.

He asks you to get the textbook but as long as you go to class and take the notes you don't need it. He leaves holes in the lectures on D2L but u can always just ask someone for it if u miss class. He's really nice and energetic at 8am. You're graded on 4 open notes tests

I loved his class, especially because he is so passionate about his class so it made me pay attention. I did take it as an 8 am so sometimes it was hard to get there (I don't recommend 8 am classes) he only has 4 tests, and you need your notes. He does fill in the black so if you're not in class youll basically miss out on the answers for the test

Professor Hutchinson's online sociology class was a good, easy class. Lectures for each topic are clear. There wasn't any homework. Multiple quizzes for each module, but they are optional and not for a grade. Tests are similar to lectures and not too hard. No cumulative final, just a final test. Would take his class again.

Professor Hutchinson is a very nice man, he's a little kooky but, a relatively understanding professor. We have 3 MCQ Tests, 3 Essays, and 12 weekly reflection responses in class. You *can* pass by not going but I would recommend going anyways, his MCQ Exams are a bit lecture heavy.

His lectures were extremely long and he often went on tangents that I thought were funny. This was a great introduction to Sociology. You can tell Professor Hutchinson is passionate about his field. The PowerPoints & lectures contain all the information you need. He clears his throat a lot- so lectures may be difficult if you have sensory issues. Otherwise, take him. You won't regret it.

He is okay. He's very political, only grades based on a few things: quizzes, two main tests, and two main essays. If you fail one of his weekly quizzes (which only has one question), it would mess up your grade really badly. I would take him if you like sociology, he seems to love teaching.
