I took 4 courses (Assembly Language, OS, Database, and Unix) with Nemes and got all A's. If you work hard and you're smart, you'll be rewarded. The grade you get is the grade you deserve. It's as simple as that.

I never bash a Prof they are usually quite good; however, in this case the Prof is at fault. Honestly, he is one of the worst. No textbook, you have to make sense of his screwy lecture. Extremely arrogant jerk who belittles his students. I didn't pay money to be told we're idiots. Really Pathetic.

don't usually rate, but the bashing is upsetting me. so: very picky about the way you answer but only because incorrect wording really does make the answer wrong in this class. doesn't really review, but tests are in my opinion very fair.

Alright, he wants you to learn and not memorize. His tests are very challenging, but fair. Make sure you don't memorize your notes, actually understand what he goes over and class and how to apply it.

This prof. is wierd and really boring. Better do all your assignments because there is not late assignments & no extra credit. Disscusion board assignmets-not that bad. I don't know about being predjudice, but I can see it as being possible. Doesn't explain anything clearly. He sucks!!!!!

Everything I learned from this class was from the textbooks. Though Im doing pretty good, he is not the best teacher. My entire class hates his guts. Just sit in the front row, laugh at his jokes and pay attention [DONT CLICK THE MOUSE, HELL GO NUTS!!!] It's possible to get a good grade in his class.

Not mean, just tough and likes to rattle you a bit. Lectures well, answers questions, checks all homework, responds quickly to e-mail. Don't expect any coddling; you will learn to think for yourself. Not for the lazy, but CS is not an easy topic and he presents it well. Work hard, study your notes, and you'll probably get an A.

The meanness rep is undeserved, though he can be a little brisk, but if you work hard, he's more than fair. Patient and helpful, explained at length when I had questions, answered e-mails quickly. Top notch professor if you want to be a better programmer; he knows this subject well.

He does not answer questions, he does not listen to the students concerns, he is completely unfair (gives us homework on assigments that we have yet to learn in class but takes off points if we don't understand what we're doing), and hes EXTREMELY disrepectful

Not a nice guy, he'll assign you things you've never even learned yet and you'll get 50s and 80s, but if you sit in the front rows, submit the homeworks and do good on the midterm/finals (which aren't that that hard) you can get an A.

This teacher kicked me out of class.He literally pointed to the door and was like get out.Just like all the comments stated, he is rude, sarcastic and is a poor representation of Pace University. He said obscene things to people in my class made girls cry. Do yourself a favor and do not take him!

Horrible teacher! I would e-mail him to ask questions about the assignment and he wasn't helpful at all! Strict grader and very mean! One assignment I was confused on, I went to the tutoring center and they didn't understand what the assignment was then went to the head of the department and he was confused too!

be prepared to take a lot of notes. all of his classes cover an enormous amount of material. hw and tests are very challenging. you earn your grade here. very math oriented teacher. if you want to be good at what you do, take this class. if you want an easy a, avoid

The best if you want to be a better programmer. Not for slackers - you must pay attention to lectures and take good notes. CS is a precise, logical discipline and he expects those qualities in your written work and oral responses. But he's always helpful if you apply yourself. Sure, he's a little sarcastic but I'm a fellow NYer so I hardly notice.

If you make it past his 602 class you know you are in the right field of study. After he weeds out those who shouldn't be in CS he becomes the most helpful teacher out there. You will definitely be a great programmer by learning from him.

He?s tough, but I found him very fair and knowledgeable. I had 3 classes with him, and I learned a ton in each one. His weekly assignments keep you current with the reading, but most of what I learned was from class, not the books. Don?t take him if you?re looking to slack off or for an easy grade, but if you really want to learn, he?s the one.

I can't believe he still teaches at pace. Without a doubt his courses were the worst classes of my academic career. Would recommend for anyone that enjoys being humiliated in front of a large group of people.

Honestly. He is the worst professor i think i have ever had in my entire life. He doesn't know how to teach math. He's more obsessed with students knowing how to spell than being able to solve a problem. He gives horrible examples and his tests do not reflect his teaching. I got an A in his class but If i would grade him i will give him an F-

This professor is very harsh and hard. He knows his stuff but cannot teach it to students. He writes a lot and only will gives one example, he is once a week and mandatory but counts very little. He isn't a nice person so if u ask question he gets amazed as to how u don't know something or question him. My class was a riot with him.

It has been 3 years since I have had the dreadful experience of 2 Dr. Nemes' classes. The pain of his classes was so severe that I still think about his terrible professionalism and disrespect. As other reviewers, he is a terrible professor who should be avoided unless you are already an expert in the field (java, assembly language).

Nemes is very demanding. Sometimes, he can be a bit abrasive. But do yourself a favor and try to see past that. He is an excellent teacher and a thoughtful guy. You'll learn more in his class than any other at Pace. My recommendations: sit up front, participate endlessly, and email him regularly between classes with questions about homework.

This is the second time I had him. I am going to echo what others have said: he is a hard grader and you have to work hard in his class, but you'll be glad you did. think of him like a gym trainer. during the workout, you may not appreciate him. but after the workout you will.

Extremely brilliant and you will learn a lot. However, his grading criteria is way harder than it should be. You will literally have the same answer and he'll mark it wrong because it's not in his words. He even said that he doesn't give out tests because everyone would do horrible, hence he grades homework. Smart guy, but expect you to match him.

Very knowledgeable in his area but is unable to translate it into a classroom setting. No feedback on assignments other than a mark on incorrect answers thus no way to learn by mistakes. No tests but you do get a final project which in no way reviews more than a 25% of the course and is based heavily on knowledge taught in other classes.

He is pretty rude and he doesn't really seem to care about anyone he also may be racist and pretty sexist. I'm pretty sure he grades everything based on how much he likes you. He also is pretty condescending and doesn't explain things very well. However, If you stroke his ego and speak in class you will probably be ok.

He is a very slow speaker who likes to explain in the clearest possible way and always starting from the origin of the topic. I took a course called "Database Management Systems" and never saw any during the whole course, he recommend us to use Microsoft Outlook in 2017. He has no knowledge about NoSQL, Datawarehouse, and PL/SQL concepts.

Introduction to coding, just Java. He doesn't yell or anything but his monotone voice will put you out quicker than ASMR videos. Rude vibe. Definitely play favorites. Gives an assignment once a week, due the week after. Fairly easy but if you screw those up, you're done for. Oh, and he's going to ask you to raise your hand A LOT.

Awful "Professor". Putting Professor in quotes because I don't consider him a professor at all. A professor is suppose to teach and inspire. Nemes' Is an old school professor as in has tenure and harassment complaints against him get dropped. He is uncaring and unprofessional more in tune with his ego and "wit" to degrade students. Lectures depend on his notes without external resources to confirm correctness or verify correctness of lectures. Bad modes don't make for great teaching.

He's a tough teacher, that's for sure; gives hard but fair tests, demands you pay attention in class, and can be little harsh. But, if you do the work, try your best, and participate in class, you'll do okay. Get on his good side right away and you'll be fine. Just remember to ask questions and study super hard for tests.

Prof. Nemes has his pros and cons, mostly cons. He's old, slow, boring and elaborates way too much on unimportant things. Your answers are never going to be correct in his eyes but try to participate in class anyway. His grades are kinder to people who actually ask questions even if he puts you down in class. Don't buy the book, use pdf instead

Professor Nemes has a bad rep, however he is really one of the best professors in the department. He actually cares that his students become competent programmers and emphasizes logic. He has an edge and sensitive people will not be able to handle him, however to those who actually try he will respect. Bottom line, if you want to learn take him

He clearly knows what he's talking about as a programmer there's no doubt about that. The fact that he takes off lots of points because you didn't INDENT is what makes him a bad professor. Its either his way or no way and thats not fair. Even if your program works perfect. He also over explains things and is very slow.

I was frustrated in this class because I got points off for stupid things like not indenting or my code was not in his preferred style. Liked the class, not him. Tests were easier than I thought and I really enjoyed the quality over quantity approach to homework. However, if you have the choice DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if want to maintain your GPA.

All the people here complaining about losing points for indentation, etc. The truth is thats what the real world is like. Style guidelines exist for a reason. Get a linter and set up rules or something. His course is easy. Hes a harsh grader, but the content itself is cake. If you cant hack it, rethink your major.
