All tests are essay. His class is challenging but engaging. If you are willing to work you will get an A.
Great sense of humor. Knowledgeable. Makes a real effort to make up examples of interest to students. Extremely fair in grading.
Dr. Rich is a verry knowledged person. Having a Phd. probably makes the class harder than I thought, all test are essay. Have to atten every single class to fulfill this course. Verry little of helping a students prior the exams. There are several pop quizes. Grades home works also.
It's a hard class. But he makes it pretty interesting and funny.
You can not miss one day of this class or else you will be lost. If you need help he is willing to help you one on one after class. He keeps the class lively and makes you laugh often with off the wall humor. This is a hard class, but he knows the subject very well. You really have to think on the tests to do well, not just do equations.
Great professor. I liked the class very much.
Do NOT be absent. He explains things clearly, but be sure to take notes. He uses A LOT of examples in class and uses extremely similiar examples on the test. He's not bad, but its no cake walk!
He tends to over speak. He doesn't help students understand the material. Very difficult class. Short tempered.
If you pay attention and do the assignments you'll do great. He makes it a lot more interesting than some of the other classes i have taken. I deffinately suggest him to anyone.
Was a fun class, even tho the subject matter was awful. Not a class you can skip - he covers the material in the book but in a very personalized, hands-on way. Professor is good at making tricky topics seem like common sense.
pretty hard subject but he is willing to help anytime. A little vauge on what he is looking for and does not teach from the book so you can NOT miss a class. Fair in grading though and funnny in a geeky way.
He really tries hard to help you and almost makes it interesting. After taking his class I even thought of changing my degree to economics. If you have to take it take him and as long as you do the work and participate he usually cuts you a break if he sees you trying hard.
Dr. Numeric is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I don't say this because he is easy, I say this because he is FAIR and he MAKES YOU LEARN! I highly recommend this prof. to any student as he will help you as you need him. By the way, he is extremely fair on his tests even though they are challenging. (will give partial credit where due)
This teacher sucks!! He talks to much. His handwritten is not clear. He assigns a lot of homework and basically he threats you like if you are in high school. He make you take notes even if you don't want to.. I would recommend him
his class is fun, even everything is hard, he is willing to help and explai everything very clear, must come to class, the lecture is very important and it's not cover in the text, his handwritten is pretty bad, you need to get use to it by the first week, and try to sit in the first few rows, i recommanded him to everyone need to take ECON 261!
Econ & Stats are difficult classes in general... BUT you will not get a better teacher then him. This isn’t a class where u can slack off; you must be there in order to pass it! I took him for Econ 102, and I’m taking him next semester for Stats!
hard class but it is worth it, you really learn
i wouldn't recommend this teacher. he talks too much and he assigns a lot of homework!! he threats you like a high schooler.. you have to be taking notes otherwise he will tell you to do it!
He's a bit difficult, and in the beginning he will give you a hard time about attendance, which is normal. He just wants his students to show up, be on time, and TRY, TRY, TRY. I think he's a great teacher. NO, he did not give A LOT of homework. His tests are hard, but his grading fair.
Very good teacher, he really knows what he's talking about. Definately have to go to every class, maybe you could miss one, but try not to. Using the different colors in your notes like he says really does help with all the diff curves on the charts/graphs. pretty funny guy, sometimes gets off subject.
he talks too much, but he's an ok teacher. his handwriting is sloppy so it's kinda hard to read it. it's a hard, challenging class but u just have to go through it.
He tries to keep class interesting with his examples but most of the time I can't figure out where hes going with it and end up forgetting what we were doing to begin with. He knows what he is talking about and always willing to help but just goes on and on about nothing sometimes. Also 85% of grade is the TWO essay tests.
I must say that I am completely shocked that ANYONE can say good things about this man. He may very well be a nice person, but he is an awful professor. His handwritting is unintelligable. He goes on and on about things he says relate to class but really don't, he is fast paced, unclear and confusing. I have never had anyone this terrible! Avoid
i am international student so english is my secong language.....what can i say.... he is confusing!!!!we hardly use the textbook..he gives us homework to read the book and the he shows his problems onthe board in class which totally confuses me cuz they are not the same as in the textbook and the next claa he would quiz you on his samples!!! totall
I took this course over the summer and it is very very difficult! Esp. since it's a 4 week course over the summer. He has pop quizzes so make sure you read the book! Also make sure you always attend class! Study from your notes because that's what's usually on the test the material from your notes! But he's a really sweet genuine guy!
He's a great teacher although a little quirky. He's big into class preparation and gets noticeably irritated when students are not prepared. However, he uses real world examples broken down into steps to simplify some of the more complex concepts. Overall, he's a very effective teacher.
This teacher knows what he's talking about. His tests are based exactly on his lectures, so if you go to class and study his notes, there's no reason not to get an A.
Very eccentric, but great teacher! Makes you like to learn, doesn't waste your time with nonsense, but makes sure that you understand the material. He speaks on your level and makes things fun! "Jingle" song very funny... I very much like his teaching methods.
Interesting professor. Stat is not an easy subject, he does his best to make it fun. Sometimes a bit confusing, and a lot of handouts, but overall you can do well if you try. Perhaps better choice then the others out there.
This subject is naturally easy for me, but he really made it clear and applicable to everyday life. I will be using stuff I learned in his class forever. He is eccentric for sure, and pretty funny. I always managed to stay interested. I really liked his tests - they were challenging but he would give partial credit if you were on the right track.
Do NOT TAKE THIS GUY! he is horrible...he stutters the whole entire class.. you cant even understand him. If you have a question dont bother asking because he wont answer it! Most of the time it seems like he doesnt know what he's talking.
If your a visual learner this is the class for you but you must know how to take GOOD NOTES! He does jump around a little but everything is related and if you pay attention, his goal is to make you fully understand the concepts! He applies it to real life and the class was not that hard. I got an A-.
Took class over the summer with Dr. Numrich, and its the easiest way if you want to pass Stats. Econ 261 in four weeks is the way to take it. You learn a lot. He is very tough on his exams, but he is a fair grader. I suggest Dr. Numrich to anyone who wants to succeed in Stats, or any other Economics class that Dr. Numrich teaches.
Quirky! Enjoys stumping students & doesn't like if you know the answer to a question before he has the chance to grandly reveal it. Oddly particular about how students learn, giving unnecessary instructions; gets kind of mad if you write things down he doesn't think you should. Overall though not a bad teacher; I learned what I was supposed to.
Not an easy subject to begin with. He didnt follow the book and used his own materials in addition to the book. More work than it was with other professors. Went off on tangents during lecture while i was already not able to follow.
Prof Numrich is a tough, but the class has a great atmosphere to where you want to go to his classes. Difficult subject, but you learn a lot at the end. His jingle's and other sources are quite hilarious. But overall, its tough, but you learn a alot
Mr. Numrich is a great teacher. He really knows his stuff. He is very knowledgeable and applies stats to the real world, which makes it alot more interesting. He also has a pretty good sense of humor. His class was the hardest class I have taken at CSN. You have to study and you have to read the book and be prepared for class.
I would highley recommend him. He loves what he does and if you are a visual learner then this is the class for you. There are 5 hw questions due a week and 4 tests. The last test is not cumulative. No final or mid-term.
Stay away from this professor he does not help the students. I asked for helped and simply told me ?its basic math?. The subject is difficult he expects you to be a nerd in this subject. Stay away take this class online......
looks like the old actor Michael Rooker. Aside from that stay away and run take a different professor. He has a stuttering problem and bad handwriting.short tempered.. STAY AWAY!!!!!
his lectures are not very helpful. he requires students to read and learn everything on their own without any explanation in class. you will be given problems without going over the basics first. obviously if I choose self preparation, I would have taken an online course. At least I wouldn't be given a quizes all the time; extremely meticulous too
He's not that bad. Give out a lot of HW, which are helpful for exams. I have to admit, sometimes his lecture are kind of confusing. Exams are challenging. My best advise, go to class and do every single HW. He's funny.
He is intelligent.
He is a good teacher, but you need to be prepared for class. I think that is expected from a College student. The class is a lot of work. Lots of reading and quizes. He is very understanding if you talk to him. There is alot to take in during the lecture, so READ the book BEFORE Class!
He expects you to go to class, take notes and participate. Do not take his class if you're the kind of student who only shows up on test day, You can not pass his exams by just reading the book. If you listen to his lectures, You will have no problem passing the exams. He could probably work on his legibility when writing on the bored.
I def recommend his class. I feel that I learned so much and he makes the class fun. It's not an easy A but it is attainable. And he has this new lottery program in which if you do extra hw,which will help you w/ the test anyway & they're easy, you have a chance of winning a letter grade on the tests & at the end a letter grade as a final grade.
This professor is very intelligent. He definately knows his stuff; however, I would not recommend his class. He pretty much explains exactly what is in the textbook. He doesn't know how to "dumb things down" for those who don't understand economics. The exams are very difficult. I would have been better off taking this class online.
I feel insulted in the class. He is not helpful at all. Horrible handwritting. He keep going on and on about useless story. Way too many work (Pop quzzies, homework, and expect you to read so many things.) he always said it's basic math, and if you took calc you'll know/ Not everyone took calc before! Bad professor!
this prof. will get you to actually use your brain and have you thinking about the information, instead of having it spoon fed to you, then take this professor. from taking this class i feel i have a grasp on stats. highly recommend this teacher if you wish to get an education cause isnt that y we the students pay for the class 2 get an education?
Worst professor ever, did not help out in anyway. Discouraged students and does not explain things clearly. Expects you to read chapters in advance and apply them before he starts to teach the chapter. I became discouraged as soon as the professor yelled at students and threw a fit. Sorry but true.
took online 4 week class. a lot of reading a multiple choice home work assignment for each of 10 chapters, 4 multiple choice exams, and one on campus final. he also has video lecture available that are helpful.
Prof seems to enjoy the subject, but is verbose which makes it hard to understand him. However, the book is worse with brief explanations on a complex subject. His lectures, however hard to follow at times, are essential if you want to pass the class. He is fair, grades on "curve"- 88% is an A. I took online over the summer and very glad I did.
Do yourself a favor and take Macroeconomics Econ 103 at the same time or before you take this class. The concepts are identical and 103 will lay the groundwork for the concepts that are lightly discussed but heavily used in this class.
The Professor knows what he's talking about when it comes to the material, but he doesn't teach in a straight order. He'll go back and forth, which often confused me, then get sidetracked with a story before returning to an entirely different lesson. It took a lot of book study and notes to pass the class, and he wasn't he most helpful.
Extremely helpful, not an easy subject, always attend class! Fair in grading.
By semester's end, I think we were lucky to have MAYBE 15 brave souls (including myself) who attended on a regular basis. Once you decipher his LENGTHY Stats handouts and DRONING lectures, it does turn out to be a fairly easy course, as long as you keep up on your Connect/Stats Portal assignments, as well as the handouts.
Took his 8 week course online, hard class with tons of reading to be done! Two assignments a week, a 10 question exercise and a 3-8 one. Followed by a test every two weeks, final is taken on campus. He does respond to emails very quickly. If you take him be ready to work! And make sure to watch his 'Tegrity' videos, these go over chapter materials!
very dedicated instructor, highly recommend. The online course uses Connect and Tegrity for instructor prepared videos, though all included in textbook package - cost well below other courses. Exams every other week, with 2 HW to set up. Instructor shows care and attention, you are not just left alone! Videos EXTREMELY helpful - great exam prep
prof numrich knows his subject real good, but the course itself was very very challenging, the textbook was not very helpful. I took his online class we were able to see some of his videos explaining the subject, was very helpful even thought some times he got off track.
I like that he is very involved with online course, constantly emails and posts discussions. but I feel that he is lacking in trying to explain the subject. His videos are not very helpful since he talks around the main problem. Doesnt answer questions straightforward. 4week online course with him isnt the best way to learn.
YOU MUST STUDY HARD DAILY! He knowledgable & funny but his WRITING ATROCIOUS,he SPEAKS 2FAST, slight stutter. A++ on study material, he's got videos, Youtube, the book has a useful online tutorial. But I NEVER struggle in a class & this time..completely LOST!SOOO Lucky he grades on a curve. I think I'll barely make it!
Took Numrich online. He emails the class daily and is very involved in the online course. Reading chapters 2-3 times each is required to do well. He's a good instructor, but the class is quite difficult. I've never put so much effort in to a class, to only earn a B.
Numrich is an amazing teacher. It's definitely not an easy subject, but he does his best to make it as simple and understandable as possible. If you do your part and read the book, keep up on the assignments, and use his resources, then you should do fine. Take him, you'll learn a lot! Great professor.
If you do the assigned reading and watch his videos you shouldn't have any problems with the class. He talks a little slowly but you can speed him up in the program he uses. Pretty funny. Pretty helpful.
This is one of the best teachers I have taken...ever! I will agree that he has very poor hand writing but he explains things in a way that you can understand. He is MORE than fair with his grading!! He gives bonus points for studying and 85% is an A!! I would not take anyone else for Econ!!!!
The class is a little challenging at the first but the professor does a really good job at explaining the concepts. The tests and hw are done online. He added "lottery" assignments and if you complete them, you have a chance to get bonus points added onto your previous test score. I highly recommend taking this class if you need an Econ 102 class.
I thought the professor was awesome. He responded extremely quickly to questions, even over the weekend; he added videos that he made to help explain difficult content; and to keep interest up, he linked to fun youtube statistics rap videos and a comic. You really could not have a teacher who wanted you to succeed more.
This professor was available night and day to assist in helping me understand this class every step of the way! He is very fair and wants you to succeed! While it was very challenging, the time I put in was rewarding and the class actually is very interesting. Don't think you can just cram assignments and tests because you will fail!
Truly great teacher. He really wants you to learn and succeed.
Good teacher. The material is hard but he works with you. He has the online videos BY HIM recorded for you to view. Part of test does come from it. Homework does take time but doable. He does gives extra points here and there and he really does care that you learn.
It's a difficult course, if instructions are not followed, you will definitely be giving him a bad review. Focus on the Tegrity Videos & discussions. His responsiveness is excellent. Certain subjects will be explained in different ways to get the point across. Final is on campus, review what he says, you'll do well. He's a great professor.
He seems to be a nice guy, but not the best teacher. He sends a million unnecessary emails! he does check on you and emails back really fast. The tegrity vids get off track and are long! Youtube how to do some stuff it helped faster. takes up a lot of time. On the final as long as you show you understand the concepts you should be fine.
He does overwhelm you with emails. If you need help he would help you. Does give 2 chances on quizzes/hw. You have to stay on track or you will bomb the final because its way different than the online exams. Overall he wants you to succeed but you HAVE to stay on track.
He is a great professor! He helps you in any way he can. He does send a vast amount of emails but mostly to keep you informed. His tegrity videos are pretty long too but they help you with the final exam. If you keep up with the assignments and readings then you will do just fine! It was an easy class with a great professor. I absolutely recommend!
He plays around way too much and wastes way too much time. I have asked him to clarify a concept or two in class and when i didn't get it he just shrugged his shoulders and moved on. He is very unprofessional and plays you tube videos that are irrelevant and waste the first 15 minutes of class. He does a better job at confusing than teaching.
There's kind of a lot of assignments but it isn't too bad if you keep up with them. The only thing is that you have to keep up with the videos and work because the final is hard and you need to pass it in order to pass the class. I took this class online and we had to go in for the final.
There is kind of a lot of work but that is because i took the 8 week course online. You have to keep up with the videos and work because the final is hard and you need to pass it in order to pass the class. We also had to go in to take the final. He also sends a lot of emails.
Very confusing. Uses ridiculously hard examples for concepts right off the bat. Expects you to teach yourself most the course, won't answer questions in lecture. Wouldn't offer help unless you went to office hours. Asked what I should study for the final, and he basically said, "Either you know it, or you don't". Super frustrating, don't take him.
Excellent Professor. Very clear in his expectations. Will send you a syllabus prior to the beginning of the semester so that you will understand what you are in for. I enjoyed this class very much.
I just finished taking ECON 261 with this teacher. I was honestly terrified this class would hurt my GPA because it was such a difficult subject. I don't think I could have done so well without this professor making it as easy to follow as he did. You can tell that he spent a lot of time, work and energy into helping his students succeed.
I absolutely love this professor. I recommend him to anyone that is trying to get a real world approach to economics. If you do your work and keep up, you will get an A. This was an online class, however the final is taken in person. The final will be easy if you keep up with all the work. I would take this professor again.
If you don't pass the Final you don't pass the class. Even though this is an online class the final is in person and determines if you pass or fail. I don't think this is fair since the format of the final is nothing near what you see and practice with during the 8 weeks of class. Don't take this class online if have a hard time with this subject.
This is the most dedicated, personal and fair teacher. He will go above and beyond for his students, will take personal time to make sure everyone understands and learns. I took an intensive summer online class and was challenged, but still did good, because of professor Numrich. He will reply back to your email or concerns Almost within minutes!
This professor stutters to much when giving lectures! He expects a lot of participation even though he wont grade you for it. He assigns the chapter homework to be done before he gives the lecture. He basically wants you to teach yourself and know it to 100%.
Worst prof I have taken in college Took online class and turned into mess of horribly recorded lectures & time wasting discuss posts Online exams were very hard & barely enough time to complete Text book straight forward, but overly complex. Top it off, gives an essay style final with final grade caps. Shouldn't be teaching.
He's a very nice professor but his class can be hard if you take it with 4 other classes (full time) Take this class during the summer and it will be much easier. You have to pass the final in order to pass the class, if you pay attention to the book and assignments you should be fine. This is not an easy A or even an Easy B, work work work.
Hard class, Hard test and a lot of work.
Prof. Numrich is a great professor, however the subject itself is not easy. You need to come to class and do your part in order to understand it and do good, he will help you if you ask. I took the eight week hybrid class, but I would not recommend if you are taking other challenging classes during the same semester. Personally, I enjoed this class
Professor Numrich is an excellent professor and prepares you for your test however if you give no effort or fellow his instructions you will fail. plenty of tegrity videos to watch to understand material. tests are tricky with wording SO GET READY TO PAY ATTENTION !!!!!
Enrolled in his 4-Week Online Summer course with one week to go. His class is as easy as Statistics can get. He has multiple video lectures that clearly give you ways to understand the subjects along with a lot of homework that is actually very useful. All exams, including the final are online this semester and are easy if you do the work.
He puts more into an online course than most professors put into an on-campus course. He includes lots of examples and videos to help explain the topics, so if you cant understand statistics after taking this course, then the prof is not the problem. One of the best professors Ive taken, and very eager to help students learn. Highly recommend!
Richard Numrich is AWESOME! First off, statistics is very difficult and you will not enjoy this class. However, Professor Numrich will work with you if you work with him. I took this as a mid semester class and went to his office hours because I had a difficult time with this subject. If you dont pass the IN PERSON final, you fail the whole class.
Hardest class I have taken at CSN. Reason being this is a self-taught course. Hybrid 8week course. He doesn't like to help students, goes around giving the answer on practice problems/leaves you guessing. Homework due everyday & final is nothing like the exams you take during the course.
His class was very simple and easy to understand. If you just do the reading and answer his questions, he will coach you through the text questions with some interesting stories. Also do the tegrity videos, those are important.
Most of the assignments go through the Macmillan Higher Education book and the professor is still very strict to the due dates. Expect a chapter to be due in 2 days maybe 5 days. He also expects you to sign and check in every couple of days. For an online course not very flexible. First class I have every withdrawn from.
Professor Numrich designs the class so you must understand the material to pass, and to assist he uses videos he personally makes and interesting discussions to help refine the lesson plan. He responds very quickly to questions and does everything in his power to help his students learn. The perfect professor if you want to master the material.
Participation in the discussion posts matters to him. He's really passionate about his classes and usually his posts will be jokes related to the content in class. Even though there is a lot of homework, he is very helpful and gives good feedback. Always available and replies quickly.
8 week online course. Chapter readings/homework/quizzes usually due 2 days apart, but you do have more time over the weekends. WORK AHEAD! You have to keep up with the workload or you'll be lost. He posts lecture videos that range from 30 min to over 1 hour long. Must pass in-person final exam to pass the course. Very time consuming class.
Terrible teacher! Condescending, unpleasant, confusing and not helpful at all. Let's students come in and out of class during finals!! Teaches what not to do first, does not provide well needed real life examples, or step by step explanations. I learned more fromm my Finite Mathematics class with Duke about statistics then with this guy.
Statistics is HARD. It's just an intense math-heavy class. No professor on earth can make complicated stat concepts into 2+24. That said, Numrich is the BEST possible choice of teachers at CSN. He gives you more than enough resources to learn from & the homework is purely to help YOU. Go to every class, watch his videos(for online), & you CAN pass
Gives many materials for studying outside of just textbook reading such as discussion posts, or short clips that relate to economics. There are also required videos that need to be viewed in a timely matter. Videos are in need of revision, being recorded in 2011 according to his computer screen. Many typos throughout material making it confusing
Not scientific at all! Confusing long lectures. He repeats the mandatory videos during his lectures. Don't waste your time going to class. Get a tutor and do the work yourself. He won't help, won't answer questions, and he's very bias. If he likes you he'll help. If not you're in trouble. Tries to be funny but it's uncomfortable to listen!
HWs and Videos is time consuming. It gives out tasks that take half of the day to finish. He require you to watch video he filmed and most of them are an hour. There is no meaning taking this class online because you would end up stuck at home with his homework, quiz, and video. People who have job and other courses, this class is not for you
Prof Numrich understands that math is not everyone's strength. He grades based not on your algebra skills but your understanding of the statistics concepts. He makes these very boring and abstract concepts easy to understand and relatable with (very nerdy) jokes and anecdotes.
Probably the hardest class I have taken. Very lecture heavy with lectures lasting 3 hours, he makes you watch tegrity videos which are 1 hour vids that are basically what you learned in class. 4 exams and a final with the final being totally different than the other exams. He stutters a lot and isn't helpful. You must pass final to pass the class
One tough course. 8wk hybrid, long lectures (3 hours), lots of online homework with due dates 2 days apart. Makes you watch tegrity videos which are of him just repeating what was in class. 4 exams and a final. Final is not MC and is different in format than all the other tests. Definitely a "teach yourself" course as he isn't keen on helping.
This class is not easy by any means but I personally loved taking this class with him because even though the material was hard he always gave me grace. I missed an exam and he e-mailed ME the next day giving me an extension. That's unheard of! I got a failing grade on my final and he still curved and gave me an A. Nothing gets better than that!
He was a great professor, I took his 8-week online course along with other class and the amount of homework was nothing too drastic. If I needed help understanding the material I would go to his office and he was helpful. Final is in person and based off of material from the course so nothing is new material.
Dr. Numrich is pretty good, if youre into economics he always sends out informative things in emails to connect everything to the real world. Hes very test heavy. The final is very easy though and Im very thankful for that; he also gave me an extra chance when I forgot to do an exam even though I didnt deserve it, again thankful.
Prof Numrich or "Rich" is very passionate about teaching and economics. He takes the time in class to explain the concepts needed to understand the material and to be able to pass the course. He will always let you know if he is putting something on a test or on the final exam. He always replies to emails and stays after class to help a student.
Took his class over the summer and his class is a must for those who work 9 to 5p jobs. Homeworks are a lot, but super manageable. There are 4 online (open book) exams and a proctored (CSN Testing Center) that you must pass with at least a D to pass the class. He will tell you the exact topic of what those essay based questions are, so don't fret!
This class is not going to be an easy one, so get ready to turn your thinking caps on. Be prepared to READ and put in all your effort. Professor Numrich makes his syllabus very clear so if you have any questions on how the class will work on an online setting, the answers are all there.
This class was an 8-week online class and it was mostly based on the homework done through Sapling. He makes discussions on canvas so that the class is able to interact a bit. The class is very structured and if you do well on the exams you'll be fine. He puts in a lot of effort to help his students. He is always willing to help.
This teacher is so amazing! He puts time and effort into his class and you SHOULD WANT to do the same for him. Seriously professors caring about your grades and if your actually learning is unheard of!!! TAKE HIM! he is amazing yes its a lot of homework but do the work and it is A BREEZE! Love ya Professor Numrich P.S. ur cat is super cute
Professor Numrich was an incredible teacher. His teaching style is laid back but I learned so much from his class. It is a fast pace class so if you can keep up with the homework you will do fine (I took the 8-week version). He responds in a timely manner and is always extremely helpful if you are confused. I would take a class from him again.
When going over exams the professor is surprised if he gets the answers correct. When seeking help on a problem the professor expects you to have the same economic mindset he does and if you dont he gets frustrated with you. Exams are timed with 60 minutes to answer 40 complex graph/mathematical questions. Often there is not enough time. Dont take
The 8 week online class is quite fast paced, but everything that needs to be done is very straightforward. There are weekly hw assignments, discussion posts, and 4 exams. Discussion posts are usually fun videos that require a short response. The professor makes helpful exam review videos with very similar questions that you will see on the tests.
Took his class over the summer and his class is a must for those who work 9 to 5p jobs. Homework are a lot, but super manageable. He takes the time in class to explain the concepts needed to understand the material and to be able to pass the course. He will always let you know if he is putting something on a test or on the final exam. He the best.
If you don't listen from the beginning to the end you wouldn't understand what Dr. Numrich was teaching. Proctored exams the homework did help, the prerecorded videos as a study guide also helped. Responsive to all questions. I also took ECON261 with him, the exams for that class weren't proctored but timed. Three tries each question on homework.
I took his class and it was by far the hardest class. In 3 weeks of class it was over 50 assignments. He adds random discussions throughout the week. You have to check Canvas a few times a day even after you have completed all the assignments on the schedule because he will add more. Half of the grade is based on 4 respondus proctored exams.
Has real recorded lectures, if you want an online prof that actually teaches, this is the one. Stat is a complex topic, he makes it bearable. Has a lot of assignments, but they are not long/difficult. Biggest downside is exams are proctored using lockdown browser rootkit (50% of grade). Webcam/mic needed. Worth taking if you want to actually learn.
This is the hardest class I ever hard. I'm an A student but I drop this class because I knew I would fail. He's a tough grader and will comment on every little things. I like his online class because it was organized but he's making everything complicated. I'm a working student and this class made me stay up late at night every single day studying.
He isnt very straight forward and is very nit picky.
Professor is more interested in making 'gotcha' questions in homework and tests, multiple answer choices separated by a single word. Less interested in teaching economics, more interested in making confusing test questions you'll have to re-read. Besides the proctored tests, all "his" teaching material is copied from quizlet.
Professor Numrich is a great teacher. The class mainly consists of exams through Proctorio. I found the content difficult to understand but found a lot of help from Professor Numrich.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! This guy likes to ramble about nonsense things that doesnt make sense. All his quizzes and exams are mostly looking for trick answers and his videos doesnt explain anything. BEWARE
The overall course was very difficult, the material was very hard to understand. Courses content was through McGraw-Hill which you additionally pay for. All the material is gathered through readings the following homework assignments are also through McGraw-Hill. Material is very hard to understand as there is little to no direction from Professor.
I had a hard time with his class because he sends emails every hour and writes long discussion posts that aren't worth much. Every day he has homework due, which can be annoying. Professor Numrich is a wholesome old man but not a very efficient professor.
Clearly passionate about 3 things. 1. gambling as every example in class is literally spending 40-50 minutes talking about the statistics surrounding his gambling examples and every minute detail into his gambling experiences. 2. Rambling about gambling 3. Only showing examples related to gambling, with exam questions irrelevant to gambling.
Numrich rambles about nonsense things that have nothing related to the chapter or the exams. There is no direction from him so be ready to try and learn it all on your own as this is a difficult course. He has an ego and likes to use trick questions on his annoying puzzles and the exams. Tbh you're better off with someone else dont take this course.
He was a very tough grader I would not recommend him.
This guy is as advertised. Rambling and rambling about the most random things during his lectures and takes forever to get to the point of the question. This is an online course, not a hybrid course, yet assignments are due DAILY. Discussion posts not within the syllabus appear out of no where for a grade during the most random of times. AVOID.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! This is the worst class I have ever taken while in college, He is just a really really bad professor makes difficult to learn the concepts, his way of teaching is extremely dull and boring he has made this class very difficult. There is 4 exams that are big percent of your grade and there's lot of math involved. JUST DONT.
Professor Numrich is not a good proffesor! Your grades mostly depend on the exams given, and his assigned work are way too confusing, I asked what I can do to make up the grade and all I get is "good luck on your next exam", he uses non helpful examples in lectures, and he is way too picky, do not take his class unless you want to struggle!
He assigns a lot of homework and posts a lot of discussions without telling anyone, so you have to check canvas daily just in case.
Lots of very long lecture videos where he doesn't stay on topic. I took a stats class prior to this one, and I anticipate I would've gotten a much lower grade without that prior understanding. His tests aren't terribly difficult, as he allowed you to have notes. If you have to take the class, I'd say it's an okay experience with him.
Lots of homework through MacMillan which is kind of hard to work with, the videos on macmillan can get boring and long but other than that it was not bad. Homework everyday and lots of studying and discussions every week.
I'm currently taking this class online and it's one of the worst classes I have ever taken. I could understand that it's also my fault for not learning or reading it properly but without seeing and learning this in person it's nearly impossible to understand. I hate this class because of how overwhelming and stressful it is to learn the subjects.
He goes over exam guides, but only 50% of those guides would align with whatever is on the exam. Took an 8-week course, so obviously it's fast paced, but there's stuff due everyday. He is also kind of mean and won't try to understand what you're going through even if you seek for a little help. the class itself could be fun, just pick a good prof
I took this class online and it is honestly very easy compared to what an in-person economics course would look like. The exams are online and proctored, but many of the questions on the exams are repeats of what I saw on the homework problems. If you do the homework and watch the screencast practice exam videos that he posts, this class is doable.
Took the 8 week course and it was HELL. I wish I took the regular 16 week class. There was homework due every two days. GET READY TO READ. He provides a video before the exam with test questions. It was some what helpful but I recommend just doing the reading and assignments. Whole class was failing so he removed the lowest test score out of 3.
Watch the lectures, take notes (he allows 2 pgs of notes for exams), he pulls some questions from them for exam. Took a 6 wk course and there was hw almost every day, doable just have to put in the time. He always tried to make it seem like he's cool, but when I asked for help he was RUDE. Overall, his class sucks and a lot of people barely passed.
THE WORST, RUDEST, MEANEST, professor ever.. His quizzes are 65% of your grade. he assigns last minute discussion questions that are NOT in the syllabus which is against csn policy. He does not get that we have other classes. Quizzes are webcam recorded or in person so what is the point of an online class?
Just do your reading, and watch his lecture videos. He's really good at simplifying the course and gives cute little rhymes to help remember processes. The discussion posts also help to clarify if you're on the wrong path or if you're skipping steps. He's not as bad as people say, unless of course you want to do less than the bare minimum.
This class doesn't have a heavy workload but will require time to study the materials. Although his Screencast lectures may feel long they are beneficial. He does post discussions and this is stated in the syllabus. Overall I would recommend this professor to students who are willing to put effort into studying and completing assignments.
Tough grading, rambling lectures, and confusing assignments make this a challenging class. Staying on top of the workload is key. Consider using Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook to help prepare for exams.
AMAZING stats profesor! I am not a math person at all, it is my worst subject. I took his 8 week hybrid class and let me just say I like statistics. His lectures are easy to follow they are engaing with real world examples. I am not saying his class is an easy A, you have to earn it. However, I do beleive he provides what you need to succeed.
It was an 8 week class so the course load was too much with the amount of classes/work I was doing. This class will force you to learn and earn that A. The grading scale if very forgiving so it should be easy to pass but challenging to get that A. Very knowledgeable professor. I stopped showing up to class because the professor was condescending.
Professor does not give helpful feedback or guidance at all. His lecture videos are helpful. When you've finished your coursework for the week, there's almost always something else assigned the next day that takes up more time. Sometimes posts “funny discussions” that are worth credit when he's already assigned a ton more work already. Not a fan.
I took this class as an 8-week course and it was a demanding class. Be ready to spend lots of time with the assigned work and discussions he posts without warning. Tests are worth most of your grade and are webcam monitored. He rounds your grade up so anything above 84% is an A. However, this is done for a reason. Find a better professor if you can
Professor is not great at giving feedback at all. His video lectures can be helpful at times but they often turn into unimportant rants that have nothing to do with the class. He also posts “fun” discussions that require a small response. These take away from the heavy amount of work students are already given and are a total waste of time.
Took his 8-week online/in-person course. I had to self teach myself a lot of the material because the in-person lectures were really confusing at times. Homework can be very time consuming. Study. study. study. Look at the homework and screencast videos. Write as many notes as you can on the papers you can use for your exam. :) Helped me.
Don't take the 8-week course because it is very heavy material. You will need to prepare daily to not fall behind. The professor is very knowledgeable and his lectures are very interesting but most of the grade are tests. Good thing is he curves the grade but also tells that its a hard class. My recommendation is watch his sc vids and take notes.
I took the eight week online course, it's pretty obvious it's meant to be fast paced. He makes it clear it'll be challenging, but he does provide enough resources for you to pass his class. Watch the lectures, take notes, and study. If you're willing to put in the work, you'll be fine. Just take his course seriously and don't slack off lol.
Desperately wants you to like him, just gave us a discussion board on a previous rate-my-professor review criticizing a student that commented "the average grade in the class is a failing grade so that in itself tells you all you need". Ik you're reading this, why did you take 0 criticism rather than recognize they may have had a point?? Unreal
I would not recommend this professor. This course is already challenging on its own and he adds extra work/discussions that bring no value. Those discussions are also not pre scheduled so he creates them with no heads up. It's very frustrating doing useless discussions when i can use my valuable time studying or rewatching lectures.
Please do yourself a favor and choose a different professor. Or at least not the 8 week course. This guy reads these comments and apparently doesn't take constructive criticism to better his class. Get rid of those pointless discussions! We need to spend that extra time studying or rewatching lectures!!!
Do not take his class! You have about 3 or more assignments due A DAY (not even an exaggeration). Wants you to buy an exterior camera to take tests. Absolutely ridiculous. Unnecessary discussion posts.
Took his statistics class in 2024 and learned a lot and had a great time. Expected the same feeling when I took his 8 week course in 2025. I wouldn't recommend the 8 week course if you like to take time to digest material. The discussion posts everyone talks about only take 10 minutes or less to complete and are easy.
Took the 8-week course, and yes, expect to work for your grade. The discussion posts are super easy, but the more serious puzzle ones really help you put what you're learning to test. Plus, every point in this class counts for the overall grade. If you don't do well with working for your grade, I suggest taking the 16-week or a different professor.
The work was not too bad, he offers some extra credit every week, that are only worth 2 points. Exams had no relation to the material provided in the textbook. He offers sample exam videos, but they are not at all the same as the exam. Other than that, he is kind and responsive, but needs more related material to help throughout the course.
