He tends to cancel class alot, which can be somewhat of a good thing. His tests and quizes are moderately difficult but the A can be achieved if studied during the tests or quizes.

If you want to learn a lot do not take him. He cancel classes and I do not know why he still have a job.

You have to work for your grade so he's not for those who expect the answers to just be given to you. He will kick your butt into working for yourself.
He's cool as long as you can do your own studying and are self motivated.... he can be quite mean sometimes
Mr. McKee lectures in a way so that you would understand it. The quizzes and exams are moderately hard but as long as you study, you'll be ok. He's also very easy to approach to if you feel lost. The only flaw is that he tends to get off topic at times.
I have been taking chemistry in PCC for three year and in every semseter since chem 22 and this Mckee guy is the worst chemistry teacher I ever heard of. Do not leture at all and then ask you to do hw on your own, no office hrs to help students.

McKee's lectures are entertaining and clear, although he can be led off-topic. He holds office hours to discuss questions, but these often felt rushed (and were only early in the AM). Be prepared for many in-class quizzes. Tests were fair.

DON'T Take His Class. He is the worst teacher and he doesn't teach anything about Chemistry 1A. He always said "Hmmm, This is Chem 22 stuff, so do this example question". And he doesn't give any ideas to students about some difficult question.

Hard class, unclear lectures, quizzes are frequent and difficult. Reading the textbook is very important coz he does not cover all textbook materials during lectures. Prepare to drop the class if u feel that he hates u.
this teacher is so cold, not very nice. talks more about his life than chemistry. doesnt even teach chemistry efficiently and effectively. i recommend BARNES, i dropped to take BARNES and he is a great guy, very nice and funny. also very fair grading.

McKee is an outstanding professor. Posseses knowledge of chem & presents material concisely. Students should realize Chem isn't easy & must work at it to get it right. Loved his humor & the hawaiian shirts.
I like this teacher. His lecture was very clear and right to the point, although sometimes he goes off topic. He was very patient whenever i had a question, and he was very helpful. His quizzes are hard, but his tests are not too bad.Good teacher.

Great guy. I highly recommend him. His explanations are clear and concise; he doesn't waste time holding your hand and preaching from the book. If you're a lazy student, however, don't waste your time taking this class.

He can give detail lecture, but that detail lecture cannot cover all other main points in the chapter. He is very mean. His quizzes are hard. Required memorization for all the formulae that we ve done in lab.

the lectures he gives are somewhat hard to follow for certain people because he hardly writes anything on the board, so if you miss something you heard, you probably won't learn it. he is also a mean and scarry man, not approachable.

This man clearly has issues with the department that he teaches in and takes it out on the students. He tries to bully students by speaking overly loudly, ddoing his best to tower over the shorter students- seriously, he's that bad.
All i have to say is this guy isnt that nice to lower division chem classes as i have been there. But once you get on his good side, he will be good to you. Give respect, receive respect. People complain that his lectures are bad, but the brightside is he gives easy tests and quizes.

There's a good reason why his was the ONLY Chem1A still avail on the 1st day of school. These reviews are right on. I've had 15 straight-A classes, including Intro Chem (not PCC) & his was the first class I ever dropped. I am an avid notetaker--in 3 wks, I had maybe 4 pgs of notes. DOESN'T LECTURE!

for ochem he is the one to take he loves his job and is very interesting and funny. he prepares you for quizzez and lets you know pretty much what the tests will be on A+++

Never have I experienced such poor teaching-the first class of 12 (4.0gpa) that I dropped. He doesn't teach. He scribbled all over a test b/c I did calculations on the back--when I asked, he boomed "there's PLENTY of room HERE to do ALL your calulations!" I was stunned. He is pretty awful-he really DOES sit on the desk, drink coffee & not lecture.

Well i had him in 2000. It's just that he doesn't lecture much, talks about his stuff, but I think when he does lecture he makes sense. Well Chemistry is very hard at PCC, I studied like 12 hours a week outside of class to barely get an A.
He doesn't teach much.
He may knows Chem well but doesn't lecture in class. Students extremely suffer and study by themselves or drop the class. Take others who teach Chem in class. Save your time and effort.I regret not to listen to comments.
his teaching is ok, u dont have to go to lecture, just read the book thorouly and go to his review session to ask questions, he'll answer all question patiently. students of the same chem level will all take same exams regardless who ur teacher is, exams r fair.
Mr McKee needs to refreshen up on his teachings skills. I believe there's a 101 teachers edition for dummies available at Barnes and Noble.

He ASSUMES you already know things, and he doesn't teach you anything; you have to teach yourself. Half-way done with the sem., 1/2 of the class dropped. I ended up dropping & got my first "W" ! I took Huber (1st 4 weeks)/McKee (last 2 weeks) for Chem 1A Summer 05. McKee is a really easy professor as long as you read the book and do the problems he assigns. Sure he may not teach but that is why his tests are so easy, he weeds out people who need "bottles." Received 98/98 on 2 of his test while for Huber I got a 78. Got an A for C1A.
This man does not deserve to be called a professor, nevertheless a teacher. I plan to write a letter to the school board stating how dumb he is.
He's helpful when I ask him some questions, but his lecture is not clear enough beccause he never writes anything on blackboard. Besides, he's calculation is very stupid. I've found my own fastest calculation method, but he said my calculation is not acceptable whatever my answers are correct and my step is logical.
I almost hated chem because of him, but after going through two semesters with him, I'm glad he was my chem professor. The reason why he has such bad ratings is because he has the "throw you into the deep ocean and swim alone" teaching philosophy. He won't take you by the hand and guide you. Its doable. I got an A in 1a and 1b.

I will recomend anyone who is about to take his class to stop and wait for another teacher. He doesn't teach and will waste your time. I spent the time during his so called lectures studying on my own. If I would have looked at this website before taking his class I never would have had him. if you're not stupid as hell you'll pass this class with a B or better. I got an A and did light studying throughout the year. Spend some time to actually read the textbook and understand the labs and you'll be fine. If you can't get a B or an A in this class, you need to switch majors from science because there are much harder teachers than him

He's not there to hold your hand and coddle you. Read the book before class, raise your hand and ask questions. He requires you to be able to think as all Chemistry does. It's hard science and you have to know your stuff. If you're lazy and/or not that sharp you'll probably hate it. Both you and Mr. McKee will be happier without each other.

He's definitely not there to hold your hand. Not too difficult of a class with the occasional self-study. I started asking him to clear up ambiguities/ questions from day 1, and he always made sure I understood. He WILL answer your questions IF YOU JUST ASK! only those who do badly in his class write these negative comments about him! GREAT PROF!
He teaches very badly and You won't learn a lot from him. His teaching is not very organized. Therefore, if you are a beginer of chemistry, don't choose his class; you will lost your interest on that.

McKee is the worst professor I had ever had. He is discouraging, belittling, prejudiced, rude, sarcastic, unfriendly, and boorish. He is extremely sensitive and reacts violently to little things. He is discriminative of Asians. He isn't afraid to call students stupid and curses using words like "S.O.B." and "ass." His quizzes are not easy.

McKee is a great professor. I've taken him twice and have really enjoyed his classes. HIs quizzes are difficult, but his exams are fairly simple. Anyone who tries can get an A in his class

I'v taken all his classes for chemistry. He can come off rude and abrasive, but once you get passed that he is a wonderful professor. Professor McKee is not THAT bad. He is intimidating but if you study and listen to his lectures, which are for the most part clear, you should be able to get a decent grade. His quizes are definitely harder than the exams. Not a very consistent grader.
i got the right answer on a test and the right units and method and i got 3 out of 4 b/c i didnt write mL on ONE of my conversions but the rest i did, this other guy who is white and kisses ass got the answer completely wrong, didnt sovle for it the completely right way, and still got 2 out of 4 points. a little imbalanced dont you think?
If you want to learn he has all the answers. If you want to be given the knowledge then this is not the class "Chemistry is about critical thinking" even the most idiotic people can learn this cause it is all about how much you put into it. The more you give your time the more McKee gives his.

He's a good prof! If you are hard-working and review after each class session for like 20 min, you will get an A.
His ego is as vast as the universe and he's unbelievably condescending, which I could even tolerate if he demonstrated effective teaching methods. Instead, he tells you everything you need is in the book and barely lectures. He leaves the lab frequently and for long periods of time, so if you have a question, you're screwed.
it's better if you took chemistry before, i never took it, and needed two tutors to get me somewhat passing. i ended up dropping anyway. but he DOES recycle old tests/quizzes. questions hardly change. easy A if you know someone who took the class before. but, i don't recommend this teacher if you never took chem.
On many a day he would verbally abuse and belittle certain students. He would make innapropriate jokes and made a few people cry and quite a few almost cry... He yelled a lot and was never very clear on the directions for labs. The lectures were very limited, only about 30 minutes for what should've been 2.5 hours atleast
hardly ever lectures. not helpful. talks down to students. thinks he's funny, but no one laughs at his jokes. if you have not taken a science class in a while, do not take him. you'll regret it. there are plenty of other chem teachers who are more willing to help their students.
