Dr.Peet is, in my mind, exactly what a professor should be. He has written many books, he holds very strong opinions, and if you disagree, he forces you to challenge those beliefs. Even those who agree with him find themselves learning new ideas and concepts that they had never encountered before. He is very good at making complicated ideas simple.

I have never enjoyed a class more than this one - it was fun and I learnt a lot.

I signed up for this class last minute for the perspective, randomly, and I'm so glad that I took it. I learned so much from Peet's class and he is such a character. Funny and eccentric, very intelligent, approachable, the material he taught was extremely useful, I find myself referring to it in other classes & even everyday life.

Richard Peet is an awesome fellow. Don't listen to the bad reviews. Honestly, he is an excellent lecturer and very easy going and approachable outside of class. He is very opinionated, yes, but he encourages outside research and often lets students present findings in class. But be warned you will rarely use the textbook.

Peet knows what he is talking about and he is not afraid to voice his opinion. Very polarizing, but if you have a differing opinion you have the oppurtunity to speak out. However, you can't just disagree. You have to have support for your stance. Peet always enjoys these dissenting opinions as they start up great classroom debates.

Peet is amazing! If you are conservative and religious, he will make fun of your beliefs. However, lovely lovely man and his lectures definitely wake you up in the morning. TA's are usually great and will guide you and help you out.

He is extremely opinionated and many students were affected by his opinions and don't take this class if you cant think for yourself but he is great at explaining complicated ideas and theories- he gives a lot of reading but, its not all mandatory or needed

Very opinionated, surely, but very passionate about the subject matter. May seem intimidating, but it's well worth the effort of putting in the time. A very rewarding class!

The best lecturer at Clark. Interesting, profound, funny. You learn a lot in this class. Political but tolerant.

This course should be mandatory for all Clark students interested in development. The professor knows the material, and teaches it with passion. Terrific. So its political...big deal.

Dick Peet is great. If you do the readings and think critically during class you'll have a great time. He can be abrasive, but he just likes to argue. On that note, if you can argue with him regarding something that you're passionate about and can really defend your position, he will LOVE you.

I took Global Soicety & hated Peet at first but honestly it was one of if not the best classes I've had. My TA was amazing & the Peet just has so much knowladgepassion about the material. The text books are written by him and they're confusing but if you read it in his voice it makes way more sense. I use this info in a lot of other classes.

I too took Peet's class the last time he taught it, before being fired by the Chair of the Geography Department. He was by far the best professor at Clark, and probably in the World -- he is internationally famous, having written 16 books, more than the rest of professors in Geography put together. His basic forte explaining things theoretically!
