For the first time in years, Chemistry has actually made some sense to me. You should definitely take him if you're going to take Chemistry at GGC.

No powerpoint lectures in this class. Step by step explanation of the how's and why's of organic chem. Great experience.

Dr. P really puts extra effort into helping his students. We have quizzes every week which come straight from the hw so it isn't that hard. The tests come straight from the quizzes and hw too, even better. He gives excellent examples(makes it dumbified!!!). Definitely recommend.

Very helpful professor will meet with you as much as needed for help, he keeps everyone engaged in discussion and notices if you don't come to class. The material is very straight forward and step by step, no surprises on quizzes and exams. come to class, pay attention and you will do fine.

As with any organic chemistry class it requires that you work hard. However I found this class helpful because you were graded based on your preparedness for class every week rather than just 3 tests in a semester. Pennington is awesome. He is very helpful and very funny. Follow the textbook and don't go in without preparing. He teaches in a variety of ways and makes great British references. He knows how to be sarcastic but not disrespectful and always helpful.

Dr. P was a wonderful teacher. I took his class over the summer because I didn't understand chemistry at my own college. His teaching style made it very clear. He is funny and able to integrate humor and activity into the class so I was never bored. As long as you come prepared and ask questions if you don't understand his class will be great.

Dr. P is a great teacher, but this is a hard class. He does not like tardiness for his class, especially the lab. He will help you out when you ask for it. He is also pretty funny, especially when he gets off the subject of chemistry. I enjoyed his class, even though it is hard.

He was introducing a new teaching style as I transferred to GGC which changed my perspective on this course, causing a change of major. Glad to have him on as my 2212 professor. He's a great professor, but very tough. Always to come class prepared and have questions ready. Also, NEVER be late, he will call you out. He has a different way of teaching. It takes some time getting use to, but it's helpful.

Don't be fooled by these ratings! Pennington makes this class extremely hard! Although, he is a nice, helpful, and is a down to earth guy, he makes the exams and quizzes very hard even after studying the whole time. They are mostly fill in the blank or solve. Dr. P is one of my favorite professor. If you are willing to learn and study organic he is the best professor ever. I love organic and this was my fav class of this semester. Dr.P is very helpful, he will only help you if you are interested in the class and want to pass. His quizzes are from the homework in the book, and his test are from the quizzes. Some are diffcult but with tutoring and asking questions you should be fine.

Dr. Pennington is a great professor. He gives you a complete layout of the semester. You do the reading and the problems he assigns you will do fine on the quizzes. Took this class in the summer got an A with ease and I took CHEM 1211 3 years ago. Show up, attempt homework and come to class/Lab prepared and you can't fail. If you need extra help, he's always willing to offer it in person, and he's filmed a bunch of instructional videos that he makes available online. Do your part and you'll do well. AMAZING!! I actually got chemistry. If you hate Chemistry or think you are not good at it take Dr.P. As long as you show up and do the work he will work with you. Probably the best Chem professor out there. He is very a knowledgeable chemistry prof. Don't be intimidated by his hight or accent he is a great guy with a Great sense of humor for those that do not get offended easy, jokes around with students as if they were old pals.

His classes are fairly easy as long as you prepare by skimming the chapter and just knowing the basics of the section. His labs are easy and end early on most days. Be warned, he takes attendance seriously and if you miss often he can be tougher on you even if you are doing well without showing up. Just prepare and you will be fine.

Dr. P made chemistry so easy to learn. He may come off as a smart aleck, but he's actually a nice guy who is willing to help as long as you show up to his classes and show that you are trying hard to do well. Textbook is needed, we used it every lecture. As long as you do the homework he assigns, the quiz and tests will be easy.

Dr. P is an amazing professor. He lays out the foundation and expectations of the class before it even begins. He sets you up to succeed but you just have to come to class and do the work. I worked my butt off constantly in that class and I got an A. It's not easy and you have to put time into it but you learn a lot. He loves to joke and is caring.

I took the class over the summer. Make sure to read the do the questions he assigns, watch the videos,& do your prelab. He takes off for the little things on quizzes, so check & double check you do EVERYTHING. he is sarcastic but not in a good way. could be mean if you asked questions. he had his "favorites" & make sure all of the class knew it.

Fantastic professor. He really cares about whether or not his students achieve. He does not use the ChemLab, so there's no worry about purchasing that, but the textbook and its problems are key to passing the class. He offers a lot of help and extra credit. Taking him again for Chem II.

Dr. P is an amazing teacher. Sure he is sarcastic but I think he is funny. He expects for his students to work and if you don't well he doesn't care either your grade is totally dependent on you. Doing well on the Midterm and Final are extremely important to getting a good grade since our grades are made up of weekly quizzes and those two exams.

He is a good professor, knows how to teach, but a tough/bad grader. he takes off points like nobody business. quizzes through out the semester, only 2 exams, midterm and final. he will pick on you if you don't participate. Read and work problems before coming to class. i will not be taking him for organic chemistry 2.

Dr. P is an incredible Organic Chem prof. I literally wouldn't take this class with anyone else. He is extremely helpful and approachable and he makes the class feel engaged and fun. Dr. P is one of the best Chemistry professors so far I had for Chem 1151K. I'm definitely going to take him again for the next course 1152K. Overall, in this course, you have to work problems on your own before you come to class because He will not lecture until you do your work. The class is combine with major of 12 quizzes and 12 labs. Take him!

This is my second time taking Dr. P. I highly recommend taking Pennington because he is a great professor really helps you if you don't understand the material. In this class, you will have weekly quizzes, 3 exams and a cumulative final at the end of the semester. Lab was actually very fun. Sometimes he even cancels lab too. Great Professor!!

He's one of the best professors that I've ever taken. He actually cares about his students, but you have to put in the effort as well. He is willing to help you and wants you to do well as long as you are willing to put in the work. Exams are in depth but gives good preparation also show all work even if small calculations.

Orgo requires a lot of work, but he's a fantastic teacher and will explain anything you don't understand until you do.

Dr. Pennington will change your perspective of how terrible Orgo is. You're not going to get away from hard work, but he does not make it more difficult than it already it is, and is fair. The class is flipped model, with some very beneficial lecture and board work. Pre work for each class is a must, and as he would say, a positive attitude is key.

This is definitely the most goal oriented professor I have had at GGC so far. The lectures generally consist of interactive lessons and clear instructions on how to prepare before class. To simplify the difficulty, the students that listen and put in the work get the grades they want. If you are unmotivated, do not expect to get free hand-outs!!

I came back to college as a post-grad in order to begin my pre-requisites for a career change from engineering to medicine and I can say that I've only ever had two other teachers/professors in my life that can hold a candle to the quality of Dr. Pennington as a both a teacher and as a person. Tough but fun class with a teacher who loves teaching.

Dr. P is one of the best professors I've ever had. Ochem will NEVER be easy, but he made it so much more manageable. He has a witty sense of humor but as long as you're not sensitive you'll find him hilarious!! He always makes time to be available for you (inside and outside of class) and I genuinely feel prepared for Ochem 2212. Take his class!

The class is challenging because the material itself is challenging. Dr. P doesn't make things harder than they already are. He likes to joke around with the class.

If you arent taking Dr. Pennington, what are you doing!? Easily one of the most helpful Orgo 1 professors. In and outside of class. Orgo 1 is a tough class, but he makes it a enjoyable. If you practice the problems then youre set for the quizzes. He also does an amazing job prepping you for Orgo 2. 10/10 would recommend. 10/10 would take again.

Organic chemistry is not an easy class but Dr. Pennington is a great professor. He genuinely cares for his students & is always there to help. I was terrified of taking ochem, but w having an amazing prof like Dr. P, I made an A! This doesnt mean that a good grade comes easily, you must work hard/practice! Its essential to do the lesson before class or else he does get a bit of an attitude, which is understandable because going into his class you will know that is flipped style teaching

Participation in the class matters, if you want to do well in the course. Communication is key, he can't think through the monitor or know what you're thinking. Do the homework before hand, it is very well organized and finish the board work if not done in class. This will help with quizzes and exams.

Dr. Pennington is always willing to explain and help you understand the material, he challenges you to study harder and awards your efforts, very supportive, provides videos to help you understand class material, gives very helpful reviews before quizzes and tests each time.

I loved Dr. Pennington's class. His way of teaching and explaining was definitely helpful and cleared up lots of confusion I had. He's very caring and his lectures are interesting + hilarious. If I could have him for other science class in college, I would without a doubt.

GREAT CLASS. If you happen to need to take chem 2 chose him! I'm not too big a fan of chem but taking him helped me alot! He's funny and jokes a lot. The labs and quizzes are straightforward and there are many so if you fail or miss one you of course have more chances to raise that grade. He sometimes allows retakes for certain things.

As long as you watch and take notes on the videos before each class, you will be just fine. He offered 2 chances to retake a quiz that you did poorly on which was also very beneficial! I recommend taking him he is awesome, he is very nice, answers all questions, responds to emails quickly, and has a sense of humor in class which is comforting!

Professor P is a great choice for someone pursuing chemistry at GGC. He genuinely cares about the success of each student, but only if you show up to class, and show you want a good grade. If you show him you care, then he will do what he can to help you. I took chemistry II w/ lab online with professor P, and it was a good decision that I made.

Professor Pennington is by far one of the best teachers at GGC. He really cares about his students a lot. When he taught Chemistry 1152 he made it to where you can understand, but also makes it fun. He also gives opportunities for extra credit and a opportunity to make up 2 quizzes. Take him for Chemistry, I PROMISE you will be glad you did!

The class is difficult, but the professor is lenient and takes the time to teach the class the material if they are serious about learning. The summer class was a lot of material to learn in a short amount of time, but the material helped with the preparation for Organic Chem 2.

Dr. Pennington is easily one of the best professors that I have had at GGC. It is very evident that he really cares for his students, not just in the classroom, but as people as well. He is very understanding and makes a very hard class significantly easier. If you work hard outside of class and prepare for lecture like he asks, it'll be okay!

Dr.Penningtion knows how to make lectures easy and understandable, he'll answer any question and ensure you understand. He's easygoing and actually has a sense of humor. Considering this is a summer course (8 weeks), he has made organic chem easier and slightly enjoyable. Keep in mind he can be a tough grader but gives great feedback.

If you're looking for an organic chem professor to take, Dr. Pennington's for you! Aside from being hilarious, he's truly a lenient and caring professor. Though I was struggling, Dr. Pennington clearly was concerned for my well-being and even offered some help. Now I'm improving through his helpful material.

Dr. Pennington is an amazing professor and does a great job explaining class material. He is also understanding when students have hard time with certain course material. He is willing to give extra credit and genuinely wants his students to do well. I would highly recommend taking him for Ochem 1 in the summer or during fall or spring semester.

For an 8 week summer course, he made sure students are aware of what should be learned & gave a detailed schedule to handle the fast pace. No lecture powerpoints, but practicing the content a lot on your own & asking questions to Dr. P helps understand the concepts better. Interacts with every student with school & their well being.

It is a hard course, but doable when you put in the work. Prepare to read a lot and do a lot of practice questions. He will care as much you do. Dr. Pennington is always willing to help. Also, he is very funny.

Dr. Pennington makes organic chemistry, an incredibly difficult course, manageable. The material is difficult to grasp, but he presents it in a way that is digestible. He's also very flexible and understanding, he will help you if you reach out to him. Be prepared to do a lot of practice problems and studying.

Dr. Pennington gives you as much assistance as possible. There are homework assignments which are not graded, if you do not at least attempt the hw you will be lost during class. He is always open to giving multiple ways when explaining topics as well. Make sure to Ask Questions if you do not understand, he is big on group practice work !

Dr. Pennington's class was very balanced and easy to keep up with as long as you kept up with your studying outside of class. He makes himself extremely available and answers questions thoroughly. He also does great job of keeping a light-hearted tone for what is a very heavy course which is greatly appreciated. Don't take his class if you are lazy

He is a tough professor, but is very fair in his classes. Come to class PREPARED, make sure to participate and ask questions. Supplement your time in class with work outside the class (homework, reading, etc.) and you should be fine. He is funny, and as long as you are respectful, you should not have a problem!

Dr. Pennington is my favorite professor at GGC. He is a really cool professor and very laid back. He does his best to help you learn the material and does a good bit of group work from the textbook. Very easy to reach outside of class if you have a question. Overall ideal professor to have for these tough chemistry classes.

He's a tough grader but understanding of his students. He helps all his students to keep up with the pace of the course and helps outside of class if necessary. Learn the material beforehand, it helps when asking questions during class. Time management for students is key.

Summer class. He is an extremely helpful and caring professor. He is available for any questions 24/7, and on weekends on group me. If you hate learning from a textbook this class is not for you. He does short lectures in class that are helpful however, for the most part, this is a self-taught class, but with lots of guidance and help from him.

Quick at responding to questions and grades quizzes very fast so you know what you have in the class! He is also very funny!

The way he conducts his lectures has me actively engaged in the course material and makes me want to perform as best as I can on his quizzes. He also is not afraid to crack a joke every now and then during lecture to ease any tension. He provides his students enough studying material to practice and excel in the class if they put in the effort.

You get what you put in. If you put in hard work and effort, the professor will do the same. This class is not for the faint-hearted. This class is quiz heavy but the professor lets you retake two lowest quizzes. Overall, the class material is difficult but the professor will help navigate as easily as possible for all his students.

The curriculum needs to be updated but otherwise a wonderful professor! Enthusiastic and funny! Gives ample amount of time during class to learn the material with interactive sessions and is accessible outside of class.

He actually cares about us students. He wants to see us perform well so he does things like out of class zoom sessions in order for us to really understand the topic. He's active on group me as well which is very helpful whenever you need help on homework questions. Overall, he's a good professor.

Dr. Pennington he is an awesome professor. If you try to learn the material he is more than happy to help you and also he gives a bunch of extra credit.

Dr. Pennington is the best! I took a different professor for Orgo 1, and the difference is huge! He makes sure to go through any possibility you could consider to make sure you know why and how everything works. He really cares. Class is so much fun!

Although attendance is not mandatory, I do recommend going to class everyday. I did not have a great foundation in Orgo 1 so this class was tough. Dr. Pennington does a great job at answering all your questions and grades very fast. He also gives great feedback on our quizzes and test which we get back the next class day.

Like any other college course you will get as much out of this course as you put in. Dr. Pennington does an amazing job of explaining things and giving clear directions but you HAVE to spend adequate time outside of class practicing. He is always available to give feedback outside of class times and as long as ambience permits, he can be hilarious

Dr. P is one of the most amazing professor I have ever had. He puts the effort into the student actually understanding the topics. He is always there if you need his help too. Orgo II was a challenging class, I don't know what would I have done without Dr. P's help.

If you need to take Orgo 1 or 2 I highly recommend taking Dr. Pennington. He explains the concepts very well and makes it very clear on what you will be tested on and even holds review sessions outside of class before exams for students that have questions. He also offers plently of extra credit oppurtunties and makes this class very manageable.

Gives good straight to the point lectures & He has lecture videos & Class grade consists of 3 exams & 9 quizzes .Can be a tough grader , so double check your work .He expects his students to interact during lectures & ask questions .Dr.P is a down to earth professor & is very reachable outside of class & funny (yes he offers extra credit)

Dr. Pennington was great this semester, I took him for (CHEM 4000) advanced organic chemistry. I've also taken him for organic chem 2. He really cares about his students, gives good feedback in class, and will help you understand organic chemistry if you are struggling. That doesn't mean you can slack off in his class and expect an A.

Dr. Pennington will not set you up for failure. He makes it very clear what you need to do in order to pass and what you go over will be on exams/quizzes. Do not slack and you'll do fine, also he likes students who will interact with him and others during class. Respond and don't leave him hanging. Lots of opportunities for extra credit.

Dr. Pennington is a really cool teacher. He understands how Organic Chemistry can be difficult to people, so he wants you to ask questions because he is more than happy to help. Have courage and ask for clarification because that is the only way to better help your learning. Overall, nice professor and cracks in jokes too.

Dr. P has many resources to help students through orgo 2 without any difficulties. We had a groupme that he was in for easy communication and in case we had questions. He's very responsive. He can be a tough grader by being nitpicky but it helps you not make the same mistake. Sometimes he's lenient if you explain the mistake to him.

Dr. P is easily one of the best professors I have had at GGC. I could not imagine taking organic 1 or 2 with a different professor. He is very understanding and genuinely cares about his students and their grades. As long as you work hard and put in the work, Dr. P will work with you as well. Take him!

Organic chemistry is already a hard enough subject no matter what professor you get however I think professor Pennington makes it enjoyable and as long as you put your effort in the class, he will be there to help you. Hes available outside of class which I like and is open to answering every question you have.

This class was great and Dr. Pennington did a good job making connection between the topics we've learned and professional goals in both academia and industry. I think advanced organic chemistry is going to be an important class in the future for that very reason.

Only professor that will teach you to like organic chem. Wish I took him for orgo one as well. He made all the videos for the organic chem professors and even has his own YouTube channel. Amazing

I took Dr. P for both Orgo 1 and 2 and he is just an amazing professor! Attendance is not mandatory but highly highly recommended because he will point out the important things in class and give you extra credit opportunities. Half of class is spent on lecture and the other half on practicing but always ask questions and talk to your classmates!

Dr. Pennington is super caring and actually wants you to pass the class! Although the organic chem is hard, there were SO MANY extra credit opportunities to help boost your grade. As long as you make use of your time in class and do the homework problems he assigns you'll be fine. He also has a youtube channel with very helpful videos!

Dr.P is the best organic chem professor you can take! He is very fair with grading, communicates with ease, offers extra credit, and has a great sense of humor! As long as you talk in class and practice you can definitely do well in the class.

Dr. Pennington is the best professor to take organic chemistry with. His lectures are very straightfoward. Do the homework and board problems when they are assigned. Participate in class, it really shows that you understand what is going on, or you're at least trying to understand. Do not hesitate to ask questions, he's there to help you.

He takes crazy points off for little things, but other than that, the class is enjoyable. You can tell he genuinely enjoys teaching.

This was the most fun chemistry class I have ever taken. I was not expecting this at all given that it was organic chemistry II, but I have never had a class before where I laughed so much. Of course it's a challenging class, but it being so enjoyable made it so much easier to want to come to class and want to work, and want to succeed.

This was the first time GGC offered advanced organic chemistry but with Dr. Pennington teaching, it was an amazing class. He is a wonderful professor who is always real and upfront with his students. He cares about our education and wants us to all learn in the ways that are beneficial to our learning style. Would definitely recommend!

Dr. Pennington is such an amazing person and professor as well! the way he explains things makes you understand things very easily, its very rewarding. I took his Organic 1 class, if you make any mistakes he's very clear with you and is there to always help you. He loves silly jokes FYI :) this class was great fr!

Dr. Pennington is the reason I learned to enjoy Organic Chemistry. It is not an easy course and he is well aware of how much effort it takes to pass with a good grade. He is willing to work with you as long as he can see that you are putting forth an effort to try. Show up to lectures and do the pre-class prep to be prepared for weekly quizzes!

Amazing professor! He is very understanding and helpful, there are 10 quizzes in the semester and one synthesis quiz plus midterm and final, which are easy if you study and practice the material. Make sure you do the pre-class preparation so you aren't lost during lecture, work with the people around you, and ask questions. Overall great professor!

He is an amazing professor! He is always ready to help if you are willing to put in the work. Be ready to fill your notebook with many practice examples and don't be afraid to ask questions! His classroom environment is super fun. Quizzes and tests are taken throughout the semester so be ready to study up!

I took the class fully online and was nervous but Dr. P is beyond wonderful. He is always there to assist and answers questions very quickly and thoroughly. Textbook is required-he also has videos available that go deeper in depth. 10 quizzes -10 labs -3 Exams. My advice is to ask questions, create a study group and all will be well. He is amazing!

Dr. P is not just a great professor but also a great person. I thoroughly enjoyed learning from such a great human being. Class was fun and I actually enjoyed Orgo 2 because of it. If you are reading this Dr. P, thank you for it all.

I had Dr. P for both Organic Chemistry I & II. I received A on both classes. Organic chemistry is one of the hardest science subjects; however, Dr. P made the classes doable & enjoyable. He gave us lots of extra credits to improve our grades. Super-fast grader. He is super awesome teacher.

Chemistry is a tough subject but he will get you through it. Come to class and lab on time. Do the lesson plan and you'll survive

Easiest chem class you could take if you're good. He loves to talk with students and give them feedback and help whenever. Made the class insanely simple and understandable. And he's British!

One of the best professors I've had at GGC!Super easy and straightforward. I took him online and passed with an A. No Respondus for exams, everything comes from the study guides he provides. Assignments are simple, grading is fair, and he replies fast. He's also really nice, not strict, and very understanding. Definitely an EASY A. Highly recommend

Dr. Pennington is very good at giving feedback on your study progress. He gives out extra credits on too. Orgo I is a hard class but he makes it so easy to understand, he strongly wants you to study better so HW is a must complete thing to finish before every class! I'm going to take his Orgo II in the Fall as well!

Dr. P is the BEST professor I have ever had. He not only is a great instructor, he invests in every single student, and genuinely cares about you. Taking his class changed the way I viewed chemistry AND how I viewed myself & I can quite literally say he has changed my life. If you have the chance to have him as a professor- you BETTER take it.

You will never have a better professor. Ever. He's hilarious in class- he'll laugh with you and then somehow get you to learn some of the hardest concepts like it's nothing. Dr. P is the GOAT of all chem professors! I've struggled with chem in the past and was worried about taking it over the summer, but taking his class made ochem 2 so fun and easy. His lectures are engaging and clear and he's hilarious! I love how much he cares about his students and gives genuine feedback to each person. TAKE HIM!!!

Hands down the best teacher i've ever taken. He makes a hard class possible! I took him for orgo 1 and 2 and have gotten an A in both while being an athlete. He's absolutely amazing and I would take him again if possible. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Dr. Pennington truly cares for his students and wants you to succeed. His class is not structured as a normal lecture and allows for students to practice the content that they will see on quizzes and the midterm/ final. He will go out of his way to help students that need help with some of the topics. If you put in the work, you can succeed.
