He lets your rewrite your essays if you don't like the grade. There is only one research paper. Lectures were pretty interesting and the reading wasn't all that bad. The final is a take home essay. I didn't think the class was boring.

Class was simple. Do readings come to class and talk about them and then you go home. Not many papers and you can rewrite them as many times as you want. There is really no way to not pass the class unless you are extremely lazy. Interesting readings as well.

Mr Peters is an extremely helpful teacher. He helped me improve my writing by offering re-writes to papers. Yes, this class may be an easy "A", but you DO learn a lot. He obviously enjoys his profession, and if you don't procrastinate and stay ontop of readings and assignments, you will learn a lot.

I found that he was willing to help people. If you feel you need help, he will. Yes, he makes comments that we should have learned grammer before, but he is then willing to teach what we don't know. He is more interested in having us think about the readings and writings than anything else.

His personality is a bit abrasive at first, but once you get used to him he has much to teach. More important than that english aspect of the class was the everyday wisdom that he tries to instill in his students. HE cares much for what he does, and it is apparent he does not have a teaching background but he is very intelligent so listen up.

Great teacher. He will make you feel bad if you don't keep up with the reading. He really expects you to do the work! The re-writes of the papers may seem a bit too easy, but it really does help you become a better writer.

This is a good teacher. Anyone who complains is a fricken slacker. Half of my class didnt even show up most days and still did ok. Only time I saw him mean at all, was when he tried to explain to several asians that this was an advanced english class, and he couldnt be too leniant on their writings if it wasnt proper english. Dr. Peters is a really great teacher. If you want a guy who's not gonna give lots of assignments from the book, and who only wants about 7 short essays the whole semester, and gives an easy TAKE HOME final of just 3 short essays, take him. You can thank me later.

A superb English teacher. His lectures are intelligent and fun. I am not a native speaker of English but when I took his English 101 my levels of speaking and writing improved highly. His reading assignments are most helpful and rather interesting. If you want to learn how to write in good English, take his class! He will inspire you for sure!

attendance is impotant.he assigns all the readings and papers during class so if u dont go u will miss them. he doesnt give u a deadline so u can turn in the papers when convinient. the readings are interesting...the papers r not too hard and he lets u rewrite them...theres a research paper and a final..he's nice and helpful =]

He gives essays w/o a specific due date that aren't too hard & rewriteable. He also assigns a few readings every class(some interesting, some stupid). The next class he just talks about them & gives his opinion a lot (which you can NOT disagree with). Also, expects you to have looked up all the references & difficult words & gets mad if you don't.

This guy gets mad if u dont read. he really just wants us to learn more from reading and expand our english skills. his essays are easy and lets us have rewrites. the reading is required but theyre short. id recommend this class.

He lets you turn in essays whenever you want & you can rewrite as much as you want. He gives helpful advices when you're struggling. One thing he asks is to come to class with the reading assignments & participate. Overall, you can see that he has a genuine desire for all of his students to succeed and do well, which is hard to find these days.

First impression of Dr. Peters can be -wow this guy is kind of nuts! But his teaching warrants his compassion to improve society one student at a time! This guy is kind of nuts, but that makes his class all the more entertaining. His lectures are awesome and there are no deadlines for the essays. He takes the time to explain how to write (NOT an easy thing to do) and you can tell that he really wants to help his students become better writers.

Professor Peters made this class enjoyable. His lecture are interesting. He cares about your writing which is why he lets you re-write essays IF you choose to. He makes sure by the end of the semester you are a good writer.

There are 5 essays & 1 research paper, all the essays are due whenever you want, but if people are not turning them in he puts a deadline. All essays you can redo as many times as you want, so I don't see how you couldn't do well in his class. Average essay length is about 1.5 pages long. You need the book because you write essays on what you read

R. Peters is an awesome English Professor! He makes learning fun and interesting, opening our minds and take us out of the box to see that there are many other perspectives than just one. I enjoyed his class and WISH to take it again in the future if he teaches any classes that I need (= HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Take him, you'll appreciate English more.

Very easy to get a B without even trying. A Little effort is required to get an A, like making corrections on your redos and participating in class. Main thing you learn in the class is keeping things Short yet concise. That means less BS. Extra credit helps also.

My best professor ever. He made everything interesting even with the most boring topic. He is fun to hang out with as a extremely knowledgeable friend. What else do you expect when you can ask him about every topic ans receive worthy answer.

I highly recommend him! I'm international student and all ESL teachers never helped me like him. this class is hard. you have to read and write 6 essays and 1 research paper. You can't be lazy. If you don't understand, he will help you. Also you can rewrite as much as you can. I learned how to write better essays. Take him. you won't regret.

This class was one of the best decisions of my life! he's an amazing teacher he grades difficult but he lets you rewrite all the essays (you have many but they're all 1.5-2pgs very easy) He loves his job and is always so excited and really cares about the students. AWESOME CLASS! He really opened my eyes to the depth/power of books

I can't say he was my favorite because I dreaded his classes. He challenges his student and can be a little harsh especially if you fail to learn from your mistakes. As for clarity, He outlines exactly what he wants from each paper TAKE NOTES. Dont be pretentious. He can tell when your writing is ackwardly copied and not your own. You WILL learn

I am torn on this professor. He can be a little intimidating, but class discussions and readings were interesting. Don't expect to get off easy in his classroom and you will need to put effort into your writing. He isn't going to babysit you. You need to read what he assigns in the text. Overall, I would recommend him if you are willing to work.

disscusions are interesting, he would like his class to participate more. gades fair and you can always redo your papers. if you have difficulties or need help he will work with you. he lookes to pass his students not teaaching to fail. definatley reccomend

Great professor! You discuss about three short stories every class meeting and he assigned six essays and one research paper. He's always willing to help better your essays and allowed rewrites :)

Extra credits. Paper redos(up to 3x's)are due whenever(he'll stop accepting them 3wks before the last day). Participate, challenges your ideas only bc he wants you to see differently. He yelled at my class for not reading only b/c he cares. He tries to motivate us. I start to feel bad for always being late late...anyways take him!

Great professor. Realizes that all he can do is push you in the right direction, but ultimately you will decide your fate in his class. You can rewrite each and every paper pretty much up until you turn in your research paper. Final is a paper that will have you compare and contrast all of the readings. He is a great teacher and you will learn lots

Writing assignments are graded on grammar, punctuation and sentence composition. He always asks questions about the reading assignments he gives. Read what he assigns or don't say anything in class that you think is incorrect. Final assignments: an exam about the readings w/ word count and an 8-page research paper. Allows rewrites on all papers.

THE GOOD: he will love you if you stay involved and participate..this isn't a passive class...be sure and read. THE BAD: he talks like a lawyer because he is one. He will debate with you sometimes and question your answers...it didn't bother me, I quite liked it. But that style isn't for everyone

There are good english paper and dirty english paper. I must have written one of those. It explains why the final is too hard to keep up with.

Very helpful when it comes to writing the papers. He does assign a paper almost every two weeks, but they're between two to four pages long. He does require a lot of class participation when discussing the short stories, so actually reading them prior to class is highly recommended. He does give many chances for extra credit.

He assigns papers about every other week but, they are simple 2 page papers! Even then, he tells you exactly what to write. Dr. Richard Peters is passionate about his craft and makes his class interesting. He really wants his students to do well, so don't be disappointed when he marks up your papers. He allows you to make corrections and resubmit it for an improved grade, so the only limitation to how high a grade you get is you not making the effort. Outstanding prof!

Dr. Peters is a great teacher, and very funny. I enjoyed his class throughout the semester because the material we read was interesting along with his mini lectures. He also gave extra credit for random things like watching a certain old movie or eating an uncommon food that was mentioned in the text we were discussing that day. Take his class :)

Professor Peters was probably my favorite professor this semester! He seems really intimidating, but he's actually super friendly and helpful. When you go to his class next day, I promise that you will find out how amazing his lectures are. - Writing: He corrects every single mistake of our papers, even one punctuation. I did learn a lot.

8 page research paper & written assignments based on stories you read in class and has 3 rewrites for each assignment. DO IT! I did a rewrite on every paper and it really does pay off. Lectures can be boring and long but try to take notes to stay awake and help you for assignments. Participation & attendance do count in the end! 10/10 recommend!

One of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He is one of those teachers that you will remember for life time. All he cares about, is you learn something to be a better person for the human society! Great lectures, fun conversations, and easy grading if you do the work. I'll take more classes with him even though I don't need it for graduation!

Absolutely loved this professor, he makes the readings interesting and fun. I'm not too fond of writing essays or papers, but he didn't make me feel pressured and I felt at ease when writing papers. I would take his class again if I could, couldn't have gotten through English without him.

Prof. Peters is an amazing lecturer. I never missed a class because his lectures were so engaging. He does not give very much writing instruction, but that is because this class isn't meant to teach punctuation/grammar/sentence structure. He is a very fair grader and his allowance of rewrites means getting an "A" in his course is very attainable.

Participation wasn't really required but attendance is important for your grade. Had his class online for a few weeks and it was awful, but in person it was semi enjoyable. Grade based heavily on writing and he is particular about how he wants things completed. He can get political and rant sometimes but I'd recommend this class for an easy A.

You've seen some of the other reviews and have been skeptical about him. I can assure you he is not a deviant. In fact, he is actually a pretty good professor! There are not a lot of papers and he gives you multiple retakes to fix your mistakes on your papers to get an overall A. (no quizzes) This class will prepare you for University professors.

Professor Peters may come off as unapproachable at first, but I can assure you he is a good professor. The class revolves around approximately nine essays, one research 8-page paper, and two final exam essays. He allows three rewrites per essay, with the finals and research paper being the only exceptions. Your grade reflects the effort you put in.

He seems mean at first but just hang in there! You read a short story for each class but he doesn't quiz on it, just helps you with the lectures. Almost the entire class got a C on the first paper but he makes you a better writer and I ended the class with nearly 100%. Not easy A but if you're wanting to learn then this is the English 101 for you.

I have mixed feelings towards this professor. He is a good person and wants you to suceed but should work on yelling, calling students stupid, and implying that we are worse than students in UCSD/LA. There is a lot of writing (5 assignments, 2 finals, and a research paper).

Peters is a nice enough

Professor Peters can be particular, but engaging with his system leads to strong writing skills. The workload is manageable, and Unstuck study was a helpful tool for effective study prep.
