He is a really nice guy. If u study, u wil definitely get an A in his class.
he is a good professor, but not that nice. he does not like when u ask him for a help.

Very smart so hard to understand sometimes. Nice but gives hard tests. Study hard and you'll get an A.
Very hard class!! BUT if you go to his office for help, he will give u hints for the test!!! His a gentlemen.
He is the best. If you need help he is there to help!!! But u have to work
good guy. makes it easy. good sense of humor.
awesome teacher. has a sense of humor, its chem so no matter how easy a teacher it still involves work. easy to do well.
Great teacher, very helpful, I went to him for extra help a few times and he really does want to help you! try and find another professor that actually wants to help! Tests are hard so you do have to study but its def worth to take him as a teacher!
never went to him for help because he's sooo comprehensible! otherwise, just referred to text, which i feel is just as helpful. class is always filled to the max since students come from other lectures just for him. tests are another story, though )c:
Very comprehensible lectures but he doesn't do in class reviews for his super-hard tests, ever. You'll have to do a lot of office visits if you want extra help. If you pay attention in class you'll pass.
He is a easy to understand and funny. but he gives extrememly hard tests with no review. he also teaches right out of the book.. so you really wouldnt have to show up. not bad
he is awesome for 1310 chem honors or if u have regular chem with ROSSO. nice, sweet, fair on tests and grades! MIRACLE IN DISGUISE FOR CHEM
GOD BLESS MR. ROSSO!!!!!!i hope he wins a noble prize or something. he is equally smart and down to earth! You Rock Rosso!
I love his class, he probably one of the professors that can actually teach.
What most fo thees people said basically sums it up. He is a great teacher that actually interacts with the class. However, he does teach right out of the book. People vary on his tests, some get 100s, others get 30s.
He is an great teacher. His tests are hard but if you study then they are fair.
He's nice but his tests are ridiculously hard and he reads off his slides. The average for the tests are in the 60's but at least they're curved. He attempts to explain the material but does a mediocre job. You don't have to go to his class because he gets everything straight from the text book.
He gives the hardest test in the department. He's nice enough to email you the notes but he's not the best at teaching. Must do a lot of self teaching. Don't even bother going to class because it doesn't help and he doesn't take attendance. Just do the problems in the back and read the text!
rosso's cool, but HARD. He moves too quickly during lectures and sometimes he doesnt make sense. the good thing is: if you ask him for help, he does give it. you're better off teaching yourself tho. WARNING: his tests are IMPOSSIBLE. prepare for 20's and 30's.
Tests are SO HARD!! Class averages usually around the 60's or sometimes lower. He is clear in his lectures though and is nice to students.Lectures mostly straight from textbook so u study on your own or get help from him. Again, hard exams!!
Personally, I don't think he's a very good teacher. Gets his notes off online somewhere and sometimes they're not even right. Even though you don't have to go to his class, you definitely should because when you're crying in the middle of the test when its so SO SO HARD, you'll regret it.
ugh every1 who complains about him is such a..moron..his tests are FINE..if you study you can hit an A..i got a 93 and 90 and 82 on the 3 exams and pulled off an A..it's doable and you guys shouldn't worry..his tests arent as hard as every1 makes them to be(it's curved)..you freshmen will be F I N E
my fav chem professor so far. his tests r hard if ur not smart. its also tru that his tests r the hardest in the dept. but his hardness can be easiness if u study. His 2nd test was a lil tough but everything else was super easy. i dun think we even need a curve. A+ Rosso for being cool.
Dr Rosso was a great professor. his lectures are helpful- go to them. He's also available between classes in his office to answer questions or if u need a little extra help or clarification. the tests are a lil tougher than the other teachers' but it will make the final that much easier-
hs is a very good teacher. the subject is hard, but if u study and keep up, u can u do it. the tests are tricky so study a lot and go to him if u have trouble, he's very helpful
Rosso was an okay teacher. some people who had giligan had crazy easy exams so even if they messed up on the final, they ended up with an A-. however, if you take rosso, youll understand the material better. if you take giligan, youll get an easy A but wont know the material taht well.its up to you.
Don't take Rosso!! He is an ass. Read's off the slides which is an exact copy of the text and still expects you to copy it. Exams are way too difficult. Is willing to help but that doesn't matter when the questions in the exam are so tricky and difficult. Avoid at all cost
Dont take him!! The class is so boring and the tests are impossible. He moves very fast and the material is very hard to understand.
this class was the easiest chem class i ever took in my life...all MCQ questions, like 25 of them, common sense questions u dnt even have to study hard..jus make sure ur alive in class and ull ace the exams. getting an A in this class is almost inevitable if u rd the book and pay attention in class!
Hardest exams ever! The lectures aren't helpful because he uses electronic notes that he just displays and explains during lecture.Hardest exams I took in my first years at pharmacy school.
Rosso is not easy...but he is a very good teacher. He will do test questions with you. You ahve to do the problems and study a lot though. He is one of the better teachers, you will ace the final.
save your gpa and take an easy professor!!! he cant lecture, and doesn't explain things well...hes kinda cocky...take an easy professor your first semester and then take brown for the rest!!
With only two tests in the class and a final, you need to go to his office hours in order to get a good grade. Only lecturing from powerpoint slides, you don't have to go to class if you read the book. At least he curves the tests.
I never had Rosso teach with PPT slides so I can't really comment about that. He is nice and tries to help; if there was one thing I could do for a higher grade, I would go to him during office hours for help! I was so impressed by him and Hyslop that I wanted to be a chemistry major. He is a doctor in Chemistry and knows his stuff.
Teaches from PPT, and his notes are posted on the website incase you miss class. If you have questions he won't bite your head off. Great guy, very helpful. I really hate chem with a passion but he made it tolerable. Tests come from the notes.
It's clear to see why he heads the department-he knows what he's talking about. Online homework was usually easy. His tests were difficult and sometimes way too long, leaving the class rushed for time. A nice guy and a lenient final grader though.
Had him for honors chem 1310. Class was boring as hell, and it sucked. Tests were extremly hard and were long. Impossible to do good. No curves, cept at the end. IF YOU ARE PRE-MED DO NOT TAKE!! YOU GPA WILL BE LOWERED. MED SCHOOL LIKES HIGH GPA. Hes a really nice person though. Only chem majors should take this class. Have fun if you decide totake
He's extremely laid back and surprisingly funny. Do study from the text book as his tests are hard. At the end he is a very lenient grader.
Dr. Rosso is extremely intelligent and lectures can be confusing sometimes. It is important to actually pay attention during the lectures. However, Dr. Rosso is extremely approachable and is willing to meet for extra help. He is always willing to help students; use his kindness as a studying resource! Exams are hard, but the curves are high.
I don't see why everyone keep calling him hard and a gpa destroyer, did you not finish the class?? He's well aware of the fact that his class is harder than other and he grades accordingly at the end, over a full letter grade plus you learn way more with him without even realizing it
He is a great professor. The material itself is tough. You have to go to class and pay attention. It helps to do as many practice problems as you can. Study the material and you will be good to go. Remember, learn how to use the equations and do practice problems.
Great prof. Always available to help students. Got to lecture. Take notes. Read the powerpoints. Do homework. Tests aren't too bad if you actually study.
he is a horrible teacher. switch out after the first day if you have him. did not learn one thing this year.
Pay attention and read the textbook and you'll pass. Actually study for the tests or you definitely won't pass. He's always willing to help, and makes sure you know where you're standing just in case you're close to failing. He has review sessions before exams, go to them if you're struggling. Only thing he doesn't like is you talking in class.
very boring
Dr. Rosso knows that chemistry isn't the easiest class in the world and he does everything he possibly can to help his students succeed and develop a better understanding of the material. That said, the tests he give are difficult but he does curve when he can. He isn't gonna carry you, if you want an A you better work for it.
Dr. Rosso tries to make chem more interesting than it is. You'll get a ton of homework online so it's important to keep track of due dates. You don't really have to be present in class to pass. Just do all homework online and do well on tests. All he does during lecture is read powerpoint slides that coincide with textbook. Easy A if you study.
Lectures were straightforward and to the point. He does utilize a power point and goes through pretty quickly so it's difficult to take notes, but on the bright side the power points are online anyway. I took AP Chemistry so this class was all review but it helped a lot and he does try to make lectures enjoyable through the usage of analogies etc.
I think Dr. Rosso honestly deserves a higher rating. He does go through the powerpoint pretty quickly, but that is just the subject itself. You just have to be on top of your school work to do well. He is very clear in his lectures and is always there to help you. Very approachable. Would highly recommend.
Good teacher that uses ppt slides to make lectures go by faster. Laid-back teacher that extends due dates for homework and is easy overall if you listen in class and study before exams.
Professor Rosso was the best professor that I had during my first semester. He gives great lectures, even though it's chemistry. He gives great analogies for a better understanding. He doesn't just read everything off the slides, he takes time to explain everything important. Also, he is very approachable and an overall nice guy.
Rosso is great, super clear. He explains everything super well. This class is hard and a looot of work but he actually makes it better. It's not an easy A, but you're better off with him than most
Rosso is a great prof. 4 tests made up by chemistry department (1 is dropped), equalling 40% of your grade. Lab is 20%, Recitation is 10%, Final is 20%, Homework 5%, & participation is 5%. His lectures may feel a little long and boring at some times, but he gets the info in your head. Great guy to speak to during office hours. Taking him again.
Dr. Rosso was and is one of my favorite professors at this school. He's very nice and helpful and extremely caring for his students. This course was pretty similar to basic High School Chemistry so if you did alright there you should have no problems here. Wiley Plus and Orion for online HW can be annoying at times but tests were straightforward.
He's a lecture heavy professor. By that he is mainly powerpoint. Clickers are part of your participation grade so don't forget it. He can get very boring but he can help out if you ask a question. Tests are fair, just study and review for it. He gives you a sample exam that's borderline the same
He is one of the best chem professors at st johns and is extremely understanding. GO to him if you have questions, chemistry in itself is not an easy topic but he makes it bearable.
very understanding teacher. if you go to his office hours, he'll help whether lab reports or any other queries pertaining to inorganic class. will recommend for class.
He 's really good at explaining the concepts. Sometimes I don't even read the chapters in the textbook because he explains them really well. Overall, really nice and reliable. Will take him again!
He goes through the material too fast in class but with a small group he expains it very well.
Tests are all standardized by the department, but he does a good job preparing you for them. His lectures are helpful as he goes in detail about most things on the slides. He's a nice, helpful professor who knows his stuff and tries to help you learn it.
Honestly chemistry isn't an easy subject to begin with but Dr. Rosso is such a caring professor. He'll try to help you as much as he can. The tests are department made so he doesn't make them on his own. He does prepare you well enough to pass. I read the textbook as well but you don't have to considering that his PowerPoints are a simpler version.
Awful grader, not available outside of class because he is never in his office when he says he will be, makes his exams way too hard, he doesn't teach, assumes everyone else is on his level, chastises you after exams about your grades, is never prepared for class, no notes. Don't take him.
This guy is late and messy with everything he does, he takes off points for everything, go to him for help and he pushes you away and rushes you like you're cutting into his time to do nothing. Worst professor ever.
To the one who said that their class is CHE1220, according to the fall 2018 course schedule, he isn't teaching that course for this semester so I don't know where you are coming from. His notes prepared me well enough for the exams and the finals. Either you are delusional or probably you didn't study much. Nonetheless, he is a good professor.
I liked Rosso because he has an engaging voice, which is great for lectures. This class is a repeat of AP chemistry, so if you did well there you should be fine. He gave EC opportunities for +5% on each exam grade. Super easy to talk to outside of class and cares about you too. Really enjoyed being in his class.
good professor. chemistry isn't easy to understand at first but it was bearable courtesy of Dr. Rosso...
He is really willing to help you out if you go to him for help. I didnt even think i would pass his class but i asked for help and i passed. He is really caring and understanding, def take him.
He is a really nice teacher and cares about his students. He gives extra credit opportunities throughout the semester so take advantage of them. He explains everything in an easy and understandable way. His lectures are PowerPoints and he reads off them but he has practice questions to make sure you understand. Tests are straightforward
Taking Dr. Rosso in the summer was a smart but tough choice. The material was rushed because it was one semester's work in a month but he knew that and was generous with his grading. Talk to him and participate; it'll show. He's a nice guy and I would take him again
He is nice but you really gotta focus in class
He's really passionate about what he teaches. He knows the topic very well and wants his students to do well. However he doesn't care about attendance and would rather you leave instead of talk. The lecture hall was huge and he'd tend to talk to the front so if you zone out you're lost. Bottom Line: If you pay attention you'll be good.
He is very passionate about the subject and cares a lot about the students. Accessible outside of class if needed and made Chemistry a class that students didn't dread going to twice a week. Lots of homework due Sunday nights and three major tests, but no quizzes. Very understanding professor and would definitely take again.
Really cool guy, had him for Gen Chem 1 lecture and Gen Chem 2 Recitation, both honors. He's very helpful and understanding. He holds review sessions for gen chem 1 and 2 exams and gives 5 extra credit points. Tries his best to work with you. Lectures were boring, but very helpful and good for him to know your name and face. Gives letters of rec
Dr. Rosso is a very good professor. the lecture slides are wordy but he explains them thoroughly which helps. 2 general chem tests, 1 organic chem test & a cumulative final. the tests are kind of difficult but he curves them A LOT. the wileyplus homework is not bad, but the mastering chem hw is hard. he doesnt put too much emphasis on them though.
this professor can not teach and is the male version of siri and is why AI exists and are going to take over that vegan teacher would be better cause she at least has some personality do not take him for general chemistry or chemistry cause you are going to fail so badly
Dr. Rosso ran a great remote chemistry I class. If you don't do the homework and understand it, you won't pass. Come prepared to class and participate and you're fine. He is open for office hours and gives us time to ask our questions. Responds so fast to emails. This class is run by tons of other professors but Rosso is a great mentor for the clas
Rosso was very accommodating and accessible outside of class. Definitely one of the better general chemistry professors.
I had him summer session. He is not accessible outside of class, at all. He has lectures and questions within that you should answer for participation but he won't out you if you get it wrong you just type in the chat. We had 4 tests and 1 finals and had to complete Wiley Plus which is worth 5%. No other homework. Test are lockdown but open book.
Took this Professor summer gen chem 2 and it honestly it was all over the place at first. The wiley assignments really helped prepare for the tests, the powerpoints were confusing so stick to the wiley textbook for help. Tests were straight through and do-able, good class overall.
Dr. Rosso is a wonderful professor who is easy-going and pleasant to speak with. He is very understanding and offers partial credit on every quiz, as this class is very quiz-heavy. He will do his best to assist you in obtaining the highest/best possible grade in this course and offers numerous extra credit opportunities. Take him!
He is an alright professor, though he messes up a lot. Wouldn't have the quiz answers posted as indicated, had different chapter questions on chapter quizzes, and some of the answers on the quizzes were wrong. He is available through email and office hours. Would also stay behind class if you needed help. Have to study on ur own to do well
He is very open-minded when it comes to personal problems or questions, and always tries to help the student to the best of his ability. He welcomes curiosity, and explains the topics using real-world examples to make it a little easier to understand.
Prof Rosso is an amazing guy. His exams are straightforward and he always puts at least 2 extra credit problems on his exams. He's a funny guy and always made the class enjoyable, especially because it was a summer class. No reading assignments or homework. Overall, great professor, you won't regret taking him.
Lots of reading assignments and notes are required as homework and can go pretty fast through the PowerPoint slides, but overall an extremely respectful and down to Earth professor. Pay very close attention to the lectures because you can get lost easily. If you get lost, go to office hours, and review Wiley. Exams are straightforward & not tricky.
Overall good professor, he does go fast- you get Wiley Plus assignments, chapter quizzes (drops 2 of your lowest), a midterm, and final. He follows the syllabus.
He moves too fast and when you ask him a question he seems annoyed to answer your question. When you go to his office hours he's not very helpful, and he doesn't really offer any help actually encourages you to just drop the class. Doesn't review for his test, I suggest study with your other classmates and go to tutor. Two midterms and one final.
Dr. Rosso is a kind professor however, he moved a little too fast when teaching the slides in lecture. Curved the overall grade by a lot at the end of the semester.
