If you have the chance to take one of richards class i would. His class is kind of hard, but once you get going it is alright. I think he's pretty damn funny too, so that always helps out. Good luck!

Richard is the best. Most likely the best teacher at Heartland. He's an easy grader, helps you alot and knows his stuff. He's funny, talkative and an overall great teacher. Last semester he handed out 90% of his students A's. Enough said.

He is laid back but cares about you as a student. He is helpful when you have questions about your topic as well as your essay. He is not afraid to tell you how it is and make sure that you attend class regularly. I learned a lot in his class for sure!

He's funny and interesting. I had an 8am class with him and tried to never miss it. I'm not a morning person. I could throw down a beer with this guy. Just do the work, show up, and talk and it'll be a fun class.

He is my favorite teacher at Heartland, wish I would have also taken his Engl 101 class but I enjoyed his 102 class very much. He cares about his students, even tried to get me to break out of my shyness. I recommend his class to everyone.

I absolutely loved this class! He does things so differently than most english classes but it is so great. He stretches your writing ability and gives a different perspective. It is also super easy and he creates a great class environment. I definitely recommend him!

Rich is too legit to quit. The Hammer would be proud. In all seriousness, he's awesome. He's not huge on homework, which students love, but more importantly he get's his ideas across and you actually learn something. Even more importantly, I'd have a beer with the guy if he actually drank, which he doesn't.

Such a good professor. He was always up for helping me out with papers. We had very little homework, and he always wants to hear your opinion.

Teaches in a different way than most professors. He is only concerned with you learning something. Grades are not important to him, just retention of information. Leaves alot of room for you to ask questions and figure things out on your own, rather than lecture. Highly recommend, but be ready to use your brain and resources.

He is a great teacher. Always helpful and tries to get you to use your brain. First few classes are annoying because he wants you to know everyone but after awhile you start to enjoy the class. I would recommend this class!!

Great teachers! he lets you write on topics you personally are interested in. When he asks you to do something that's want he wants, unlike some teacher who tell you to do something then when you turn your paper in they tell you everything is wrong. best teacher Ive had.

Richard is great. He is super understanding and very flexible. He understands that students will differ when writing an essay, and seems to hold students to different standards, based on their level and need. I definitely suggest him.

Professor Seehuus was a magnificent professor. In order to pass his class, you MUST participate. Your perspectives on the topic at hand is what's most important. He truly is an exceptional professor with a good sense of humor. Our class was his first Music & poetry class and it was very successful!

Richard was a fantastic professor! He doesn't give much homework at all and there's no tests! All he cares about is your participation in class which is what he basesyour grade off of. If you want an ease A then take him.

I took English 101 for my first semester at HCC with Richard. I was very nervous because Ive always been confident in writing papers, but only at a high school level. Richard made this class a breeze and an easy A. Just do the quizzes and participate. I really enjoyed having Richard as a teacher. He helped make my semester a little easier.

In Fall 2017 I took English 101 from Professor Seehuus. He was such a great, influential teacher, that I took his English 102 class with my friend the next spring. It's truly a "you get what you put into it" kind of class. If you participate in class and work hard, you will do extremely well. I truly recommend taking any class he teaches.

Richard is the funniest teacher I have ever had. He has a discussion style teaching. He SUPER tough on cheating, he wont tell you until the end of the semester that he caught you cheating and then hell fail the assignment. but as long as you show up and try youll do great.

He is a really good teacher. I enjoyed his class and his feedback is really helpful to become a better writer.

Richard is a great professor. He and I really connected over things outside of education which helped me connect with his teaching. I will be taking him for English 102 next semester. Hes hilarious and I always look forward to the days we have class. His lectures are well-explained and brief and gives ample explanation on the duties of assignments

Good teacher enjoys helping and also talking. He is funny and really listens to his students and shows them respect. His essays aren't hard and they are easy to write.

I had Richard as an English 102 teacher and he was amazing.. Although COVID 19 was going on, I started off as a face to face class and I loved him as a teacher. He always made sure you knew what you were doing by the end of the day. He always told outside stories and was very caring about each individual. I would def recommend him for any class !

He has been my absolute favorite teacher. He cares about you and how you are doing, you can always ask for clarification and he will give it to you. I have even asked about other teachers to take and to not take and he will tell you his opinions truthfully. The best teacher I have had at Heartland so far.

I loved Richard so much! He NEVER assigns busywork. Every time he assigns something, he made sure we knew the purpose. Whenever we had big assignments, he would assign little assignments that we could assimulate into the big assignment for better use of time. Loved Richard a lot, I can't say enough good things about him! Take him if at all possible

I should note that I had him online only, but I think that he is an excellent teacher. He definitely built up my confidence just by the way he teaches. Each assignment has meaning, and his instructions are always very frank and straightforward without feeling soulless.

Richard is incredibly caring, knowledgeable, and funny! He held us to a high standard, while still making class super fun. The way he facilitated class made it feel like a family. He teaches according to the standard that no work should be meaningless. He will explain the purpose behind ALL assignments, and it all applies to later college life.

Professor Seehuus was an amazing instructor. He was very helpful and a great person in general. Everything he assigned had a purpose, so there was never any busy work. As long as you put in the effort and try your best on each assignment, you wont have a problem getting a good grade.

During covid, he has helped tremendously. He was the only teacher who genuinely put students interests first. He was the only teacher who was consistent with emails grading and etc. He does require attendance but if you listen during class and participate you'll be good. He was great and I'd take one of his classes again!

When there are writing assignments, it's set up so that you can pick the topic and can write about what you care about.

Professor Seehuus is AWESOME! Take his class you wont regret it. I made lots of friends in his class. He's very laidback. Make sure to show up to class, a lot of people were slaking. It's not a hard class. I wish he could teach EVERY SUBJECT because I would pick him all day over any other professors.

Richard was one of my favorite professors. He wants it to be a class driven class but if you ask him to he will help you get where you need to be. He is always ready to help with feedback and it was a fun class to take. He has mandatory attendance especially at first but once it gets into independent work he gives more freedom. Best professor I've ever had. I would take another class of his if given the opportunity. He pushes you to challenge yourself and it's clear he respects his students as individuals. This is a class for people who want to learn and be better, if you are looking for a blow off class don't take this course. (The class I took was 206 Creative Writing)

One of the best profs Ive ever had and the best English teacher period. The entire class is based around the students participating and discussing amongst themselves and with him. When he does involve himself he always understands the student perspective. No papers are forced in the typical high school 5 paragraph format either. Highly recommend.

Richard is by far the one of the best professors at HCC. He is extremely caring and wants you to succeed no matter how much you may like him or his class. I only have had one class with Richard, but the one I did really made me feel seen as a person, not just a student. He recognized us as individuals and actually tried to connect with us. While he was clear on grading and late submissions, he is extremely flexible and understanding. Richard tried his best to make sure that we succeed in his class!

He took over a class of mine because the original teacher left but he was just so great, I appreciate his teaching style

Richard is one of the best teachers Ive ever had. He HIGHLY prioritizes students, and will adjust assignments if needed. Show up, pay attention, and you will be okay. He makes sure to take the time so that EVERYONE understands the matieral, and he is a quick grader who leaves phenomenal feedback. No busy work either and is a genuinely nice guy!

Overall he's really great to get along! If you have any questions inside or outside of the classroom he makes sure to hear you out and give his best advice and help! He is care free but does things based on the class. If the class goofs off then you won't get anything done. He respects you and your choices and will hear you out.

Richard was so great. I loved his class and how much he connects with his students. On the first day he has you introduce yourself to your neighbor and chat for a minute. I still remain friends with several people from his class. He is extremely helpful and wants you to succeed at all cost.

I'm taking him for ENGL 102 as well definitely a great professor. Most things are done in class. He had us sit in groups which was so worth it because that's how I ended up making some of my friends. He's open to feedback and wants what is best for his students.

Richard made coming to class very fun and energetic. You never knew what you were going to get because it was different day-to-day. Richard wants to see you succeed in school and will help you get the highest grade you can possibly get. 10/10 would recommend taking any in-person class with Richard.

I am at Illinois State now and oh how I miss Richard. He cares about his students so much and is a great teacher. He is a very easy grader and does not look to trick you on any papers, as his rules are clear and structured. He will have you communicate with your peers, but it is not intimidating. He is just a great teacher and great human overall.
