Terrific teacher! Cant help but learn the material...

The best math teacher ever! Explains very clearly and makes sure everyone understands. His teaching style is very helpful. TAKE HIM

He was great. I took him at HCCS for Finite and the examples he uses make understanding the material easy. He is very interactive and makes the class fun. I took a 3hr class and the time always flew by. I was very excited to see that he is at UofH.

Great teacher. Fun class. I had Mr. Smalley for Elements of Calculus and Finite Math. I received A's in both classes. I am probably going to retake College Algebra again to receive a better grade. I hope to be able to take it with Smalley. Awesome guy.

Good teacher..doesn't try and make class harder than what it is..good class to take on Sat. Tests are MC and they come from his notes and examples in class. Would recommend to take.

This teacher rocks for this course. He has excellent notes that are way better than the book, and he does not make the course harder than it is;like some other teachers do. Anyways, I'm not good in math, but I received an A in this course. Now what does that tell you.

He's great. I wish he could teach all the classes I have that include Math. He just breaks everything down and makes it understandable. I didn't even open the book except to look at the tables. His notes were the best tools. If you show up, pay attention, and take notes, you'll do fine.

Wonderful teacher. I took him for Summer II and passed with an A. This subject is very complicated, but if you take notes and attend class everyday, then you could pass with an A even if Math is your worst subject. He's notes were so good, that I didn't even need to purchase the book. You will need a TI-83, which runs about $100.

HE IS A GREAT TEACHER. IF YOU TAKE HIS NOTES AND COME TO CLASS EVERY DAY YOU WILL PASS THE COURSE WITH AN "A".

Excellent class and professor. Material is fairly difficult, but Smalley presents it in a non-threatening, easy to understand way. 3 exams (lowest dropped) plus final. 1 take home assignment. You could do this class without a book, but you need to attend and take notes as the exam reflects what he teaches. Highly recommend. I made an A.

I took him at Tomball college also. I was very sad that this was the last class I would have with him. He is a great prof and person. Ill miss you Mr. Smalley!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Professor. I am not very good in math and was very worried about this class. Professor Smalley took it what was suppose to be a monster of a subject and made it understandable and fairly easy. If you're not a math wiz, you do have to spend time doing the review sheets and studying.

I really like his teaching style. Was very understanding and made it possible to pass the class. I just took him for the summer. I called him way before the class and he was full of encouragement. Great Guy!!!! very understanding. He doesn't like long stories, get straight to the point with him.

Prof. Smalley is a very good. He allows you to bring 1 sheet of paper front and back to each test which is your Reference Guide/Cheat Sheet. On the final you get to bring in a cheat sheet from each of your former test. He always gives a practice study guide before each test. Do the Problems and you will do fine.. Made a "B" during Summ II

Dont even buy a book... just do his review sheet and bring one cheat sheet. Allows u to bring 4 cheat sheet in the final. Buy TI 83 or 84 calculator and your life is super easy. made an A during summer 2.

Highly recommended!! Great teaching style makes everything easy to understand. You might not need the book though, but I would recommend you have a TI-83 calculator for this class it will make things alot easier and you may use on exams. Do the reviews because exams are similar. Show up to review days because he will clear things up for you.

I hate any kind of math and this teacher really made stats easy to understand. Now this class is not easy, you need to keep up with the work. He is great! You can use cheat sheets on every test! He's a good teacher let's you use a cheat sheet for tests. must attend class to grasp everything...he gets irritated when people that miss class a lot ask questions. but he explains very well and makes sure that you understand the material. would recommend!!!

Excellent Professor. Attendance is mandatory not by teachers standards, but in order to grasp concepts. He explains everything step by step and will answer all questions during and after class. Allows a cheat sheet for test. Test is very similar to lecture notes and review tests which are provided in advance. Highly recommend. Normal effort=A Funny

Great teacher. You do not need to purchase the book, because he provides all the notes required in pdf format. Very easy to understand him and he is sometimes funny. He gives out 3 test and drops the lowest one, and one easy excel assignment. No homework, doesn't care if you text, and attendance not mandatory (but recommended). Take him!!!

You don't need the book as all the notes are online, and class is optional - just for Q&A. Tests are easier than Hodgess. Cheat sheet for each test & 4 page cheat sheet for final. Can be ANYTHING you want. I filled mine with examples. So glad I was able to get an A in this course without ever going to class! Excel assignment took 10 minutes to do.

Hybrid class, so he wasn't able to lecture much. More of a question and ask period. Still very straight forward and well structured class. Calculator is optional and I used it a lot! It is helpful. Highly recommend this professor for any Math you may take.

He expects you to study before going to class so that he goes over material but not really teach it. His powerpoints are very helpful and he is very nice. He will help you with any problems and tutors as well. Would recommend him!!

I took Mr. Smalley's hybrid class. Super Super easy. All of his material is on black board, the class sessions are for those that have questions. His reviews cover the same material that are on the test, plus he allows you to use a page of notes/formulas for each test and four on the final. I thought STATS would be a nightmare, he made it easy.

Take Professor Smalley's STAT class! Very laid back teaching style. Attendance not mandatory, but his lectures are also funny, so I would recommend going to class anyways. And plus if you have any questions, his review sessions are a good indications of what is on the exams. Take Prof. Smalley's class and You will get an A, I promise.

Took him for Finite & took him again for STAT. Class is not mandatory, but if you need help GO! He is available A LOT for help. Cheat sheet for each exam, final you can have 2 or 3. no need to buy book; he provides chapters. he is very clear day one of his expectations. a take home test, 2 in class test, and a hw assignment, in the end drops lowest test grade and you can take the final to replace it. if you come to class and pay attn, it shouldn't very hard. allows one page of notes on the test. good teacher

He make Stats easy! There are three test and a project for this class. If you are okay with your grade, the final is optional. Do not let the class title scare you away! He is awesome and I'm saying that after being in class for 3 hours one a day a week. If you need this class, He is the professor to take!

3 exams and final. That's literally it. You don't need a textbook because he teaches you everything you need to know. Took him on a Saturday and even missed a few classes but he has his lectures online. Pay attention and don't fall behind or you will be screwed. Smalley makes it easy to learn and is a good prof. Would take again.

I HATE math with a passion. I took STAT3312, and was very lost, so I dropped it and decided to take Richard Smalley's class in person. He makes great notes that you can use on his open note exams. He creates practice exams that show you how to work out the problems. Definitely take him if math isn't your strongest subject. You will learn a lot.

If you struggle in math like I do and you are dreading taking Stats take Prof Smalley. Yes he teaches the whole class, but he allows you to use notes on every test, gives you sample problems that you can study with and also use on the test. There is one excel assignment, best thing to do is get in a group and do it together. Best Stats teacher!

The best Stats professor (even if I only took one of them lol). Lets you use notes on exams, so take notes and use the ones he provides. One excel assignment that you can work together with the rest of the class to do. You'd have to work to fail this class, honestly. Jokes are a little corny, but no one is perfect lol

One of the best professors that I have ever had. His notes are very good , there is one open note exam and optional final. But you still really have to study, but he is very nice and helpful and you can truly understand what he teaches. Gives 4 exams one is optional and gives a project. It is optional if you want to work with others.

He is by far the best Statistics professor ever! If you want to pass you pick his class regardless if the class is in main campus or if it is on a Saturday! His class was this semester on Saturday's from 11:30AM-3:20PM in Northwest campus! I live in the Galleria area but I don't care!!! I knew I would pass with him and I did! Take HIM!!!

Great professor, made STATS not so scary. Don't fall behind on the HW (not, because of the grade, but because you will get lost). 3 test, one is a take home. MUST get a minimum of 20 questions right on the final to pass the class. Would def take him again, gives clears notes and will answer all your questions. TAKE HIM, you won't regret it.

This is my second time taking stats and I am so glad that I chose Professor Smalley. He explains the material in a way that you will understand it even if you are not that great in math. It's not an easy class but it helps that he cares if his students understand the material.

As long as you apply yourself, this class (Stats) shouldn't be too difficult. Smalley provides curves to tests and extended due dates for the my math lab, at the end of the semester. He also tends to be available before class, about an hour or so, for any questions. Great guy.

He posts everything you need on BB, and his lecture notes are really helpful. Don't need to buy textbook, just use his notes and you can get an A. Reviews are the same as the test (Except the final). No extra credit, no attendance needed. Super easy teacher, but this isn't an easy class if you don't work.

I hadn't taken a math class in years! So getting back to finish my last 2 yrs I was nervous. Class was easy! Lectures are on youtube. Just do the problems WITH him and you will learn the formulas. He gives you the book and calculator to use online. He gives PLENTY of time to complete the test. DO THE REVIEW and you will breeze through the exams.

I took this class online. I'm not good in math but he provide videos that are step by step, He gives you the opportunity to do well in his class. Only 3 exams and a online assignment. You are almost guaranteed to get an on two of the four, if you follow the instructions. Final optional but pretty easy.

STAT's is HARD, but he gives great lectures and provides detailed notes. Keep up with the curriculum and you'll be fine.

I drove almost 40 mins on a Saturday to take this nearly 3 hour long class LOL. That being said, I'm glad I took him because he teaches the material in an easy way to understand. He provides everything you need to pass, including test reviews and notes. He drops the lowest test and curves them as well. Take him if you can!!

Hands down great professor! STATS was hard for me, but managed to get through. Prof Smalley gives you everything you need to pass the course. HW for the most part is easy, attendance is not mandatory but it pays off not to miss. He is available after class. Me prepare be cracks joke, HOOOOO & HAAAAA! Highly recommend!

You won't regret taking him! He is willing to help whenever you have questions. There is 3 exams and final, he lets you use a cheat sheet for the exams, if you write good notes you should do just fine on the exams and study the reviews he gives.

Me & any type math just doesn't mix. lol that's why difficulty level is a 5. 1 excel project, 3 exams, 1 final which is optional will only need to take if you did bad on exams n project. He gives you all materials you will need on BB. Ask questions he is helpful. Communicate with your classmates to get through this class.

Professor Smalley is a real gem at UHD. He makes math which is my weakest subject doable and bearable with his grading criteria and materials provided for us to study. He gives us notes on bb and allow us to use two cheat sheet on two exams and a take home exam. He drop lowest of 3 His grading criteria is set for us to be successful in this class.

Professor Smalley is wonderful at explaining all of the formulas and helping to understand the math. He is dedicated to his students and their success. Go to class and you shouldn't have a problem.

Also, homework on my math lab easy to do and drops the lowest grade on there to. He is easy to work with and is understandable, take him! He makes life easier.

Abundantly reasonable and genuinely seems to care. Course notes, recorded lectures and practice tests provided. No surprise gotcha material on the tests. Practice tests are the most helpful thing for preparing for the real tests. Do the homework, watch the lectures or read the textbook (I got more from the latter). Easy A.

I am terrible at anything related to math. He makes everything easy to understand. All notes and lectures are readily available. A plus is you can use your graphing calculator. You don't need the book but need to buy it for access my mathlab.

I live in Stafford and decided to take his Saturday class in the Lonestar NW Campus, and I do not regret the drive. He cares that students understand, his lectures and notes are easy to follow. You do need mathlab access, he drops lowest 5 hw grades. He has test reviews/notes available in BB. If you have a graphing calculator hw will be easier.

Awesome Teacher!! You would not regret taking him. Has my full respect, the man got Covid and still gave class occasionally. His notes are helpful, and makes the Stats experience an ease. Nice and caring and homework is pretty average & not a lot of coursework. Most likely will pass with him and drops d lowest homework grade. Test are not lockdown.

Online class. Had lectures through zoom, and would go over some problems from the homework. He is very outgoing, and is there to help you with any questions. Homework is through connect, and just one excel assignment(EASY). 3 exams and one final. The reviews he gives out are very helpful, if you do your work you will pass his class. RECOMMEND HIM!!

I just finished his Spring 2021 class online. There are 3 exams and he drops the lowest of the three exams. The excel assignment was pretty easy and was due at the end of the semester. The homework was in Pearson and during the semester he closes the assignments, BUT reopens them at the end of the semester. He is awesome, TAKE HIS CLASS trust me!!!

He is an amazing professor. I took his class the first year I transferred to UHD. Super kind, patient, and funny. Definitely one of the professors I wont ever forget.

He gives all work at the beginning of the semester. All you have to do is print it out and follow along with the videos he has and your good. I did well and math isn't my best subject. The final is optional so you only need to take it if you want to replace a low test (3 test). I would recommend him to anybody

He was a really humble professor. The class was good but you have to be caught up with all the homework. Tests actually really easy and you got unlimited tries on the homework. The reason I got didnt get an excellent grade was that I left the homework to the last minute.

Professor Smalley is truly a gem. I had a really hard time grasping statistics before I took his course but he really breaks down the material into simple steps and made it so easy to pass. I hope his pillow is always cold, his food is always warm, and his gas tank is always full.

Great STATS professor!! Do the work and you'll get the grade you deserve.

Professor Smalley is great. His class is really easy and you are only grades on very few assignments which helps of you have a tight schedule. You can work at your own pace. Just turn in work by the due date and your pretty much good to go.

Very nice professor the hw is not over bearing. he drops the lowest homework grades and lowest test also. He is funny always tells jokes and overall glad I took him after failing Stat 2305 2x's. You will not regret taking his course. If you don't see him then wait a semester. He creates his own notes that he posts so you don't have to take them.

Math is not my best subject by any means and I had to take this class as a requirement and it was not bad at all. He gives you plenty of notes, practice exams, and study guides to help prepare you for the tests. He doesn't give you many assignments so every grade counts. His class is pretty straightforward which is great for a math course.

I like how he goes over hw during class time so you know exactly how to do it. Everything can be done through excel. Homework isn't much at all. 3 tests (drop the lowest), 1 final, 1 excel project (not a group). Would definitely recommend him.

I highly recommend this professor especially if you work full time or have a busy schedule. The hw assignments aren't heavy, very doable. We work on the hw during class. He provides lots of resources. We have 3 exams and one final. Drops the lowest grade from all 3 exams. He's a great professor, always cracks the dad jokes in class. Take him! :)

This professor is straight to the point with lectures. He provides the class notes and will go through the beginning of the homework assignments in class. The course is graded on homework average, 3 tests and the final. Not many grades going in the gradebook so be sure to study for those tests.
