Very conservative Professor, but a nice man. Weekly quizzes are not difficult. The Class can be a little boring at times. Also, he favors the girls a bit. Still, if you need an IS course this one isn't too hard.

Dr. Stamps was one of the best profs i had at OU. Very Funny, interesting and he is the cutest man on the face of the earth!!! Take him if at all possible!!

A great man who will remind you of Phil Donahue, Batman, and Yao Ming all in the same class.

Take any class you can with this guy, he's just one of those rare people you meet in life that you can't help but like. Very friendly and positive with an excellent background in his material.

Definitely take classes with him; they're a lot of fun, and usually not difficult at all. You learn a lot, and he tries to teach the foundations of the subjects. For example, in IS 210 he often focused on the common themes in China, not just details.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Really enjoys the subject and shares many personal items (From his overseas trips) with the class. He is top-knotch and everyone in the class loves him. Good man

The kind of guy you would want over to your house for a BBQ. Great teacher, makes learning fun, is clear about his expectations. Funny, helpful, VERY FAIR. I highly recommend taking a class with him.

An amazing prof! He actually made the topic of China incredibly interesting and he's an absolute blast to talk to, whether about the class or even small talk. Negotiations as a class were made to make the workload slightly easier so he is malleable :-P Highly recommended!!

This is the honors version of IS 210. Very funny, cool and intelligent guy. At 8 a.m., everyone was sleepy, but he carried on the class in an interesting way so that we did learn some things about China. Flexible with assignments (short papers).

He is very enthusiastic about the material and makes learning about China interesting. He's really goofy and fun. The class is really easy if you come and pay attention, but he keeps you the whole time every class. If you have him one day a week, be prepared to stay 3 hrs and 20 minutes every time.

He is a great professor. He gave weekly quizzes, and the final exam was easy. The material gets inside your head without much effort on your part if you pay attention in class. He made learning creative and fun. Take a class with this guy and you'll like it. Just make sure you go to every class.

Great guy and very intelligent. The material is straightforward: books and papers. Stamps brings in extra material for learning and forms relationships with his students. Friendly prof. I would recommend him highly.

Great professor! I had him for Intro to China and I learned a lot. He brings in slides from all his trips to China which was interesting when we needed a break from the history portion. Very nice person and enjoys what he does which is refreshing.

This was my favorite class of the semester. He made the class really emjoyable to go to and I really feel like I learned a lot from him. As long as you attend the classes and read up a bit in the book you'll do fine on the weekly quizzes. I'd take another one of his classes in a second.

He made learning so much fun. He got me so interested in China that I am now going to study there for 6 weeks! he is wonderful. i learned so much from him in his class. He is like the father type!

Stamps is like your fun-loving grandpa. He is very approachable and easy to talk to. He loves what he does and therefore makes the class interesting. You really don't have to read the textbook, just look at the pictures and captions. Don't wait till the last week to read the novel and be serious about his quizzes.

Best prof. ever. He makes anything he teaches very easy and understandable. I took IS intro to china just because he taught the class. Both are very interesting and I highly suggest taking both. (Take AN 101 first because alot of themes are repeated in IS intro to China.STAMPS ROCKS

AMAZNING PROFESSOR!!! ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!! made the class interesting, understandable and enjoyable. Tests werent difficult if notes were taken. I will definitly take a class with hima agian!!!

Stamps is one of my favorite teachers and he's an awesome mentor. He really cares about students and is passionate about his subject. He's also really involved in student activities and supports the China club and Anthro club and keeps the lab available for whatever needs people have. He was probably the most influential teacher I had at OU. And ah.. hot or not, I dunno. He was digging at Archaeological sites before I was digging in the sandbox.

I couldn't say enough good things about Stamps. He rocks my socks off!

Really nice guy, fun class. The only drawback is that we had to read 3 novels (2 out of 3 were really good reads) and have 3 all essay tests. But other than that, the class was fine.

Dr. Stamps is my favorite. Not only is he a good instructor but he is a great person. He's so personal and friendly that he even noticed that I was having a hard time with life in general. He's a great teacher and a great person and gives great advice.

Great teacher, always willing to help and always makes the class intresting. Is very knowledgeable, but makes it easy to understand. Has weekly quizes that aren't very hard as long as you pay attention.

He's a real nice guy.. very interested in Oakland Athetics which was cool.You have to go to every class in order to do well on quizes. No midterm.. final was somewhat hard. One "out of class experience" which you write a paper about, but it's not hard.

The Greatest Professor ever! Every class I was cracking up about something he was saying or doing. No midterm and homework! Just some quizzes and a final. Make sure to show up for class because he makes quizzes off of lectures and nothing out of the book.

Best professor I've had, he made me intrested in anthropology. He is very knowledgeable and makes the material easy to understand.

Great guy, loves the material (Actually a little BIASED toward china and will freely admit it) Yea material is easy(Not exactly "Junior High") but you learn it which is important. Would LOVE to take him again, I want him to be my grandpa. Oh Yea, does a great impression of a woman walking in heels.

one of the best teachers you are ever going to have. very nice man. i forgot to do a paper and he let me turn it in the next class period with no penalty. very understanding that students have other things going on and that their lives dont revolve around school. Maybe the best teacher at OU.

by far the best professor i have had at the university. nice outgoing guy who completely loves his job. always humorous. quizzes every monday about the material learned the week before.MUST go to class in order to pass the quizzes. a few small projects, nothing huge. awesome class, i would take Stamps anyday!

Stamps is a wonderful man who is a wonderful teacher. I would recommend taking him because he truly cares about what he does. Make sure you come to class and you'll get the A. His quizzes are based on what he lectures about so don't blow it off. They make up most of your grade.

Professor Stamps is one of the best professors at OU! Every student should have him at leaste once during their college career! He is passionate about his work and truely cares about his students. He takes the time to get to know you, and is very helpful! :)

Professor is very nice and the class is very easy...quiz every week and then a final, not hard at all as long as you look at your notes from class and make sure to read the book because half the final comes from spring moon.

I had Professor Stamps for "Business Issues in China" and although the class is pretty easy, you will get annoyed because he doesn't actually teach Business Issues in China. Stamps teaches more about Chinese History & Language more than anything else. If you want to learn about Business Issues in China for real, I don't recommend Stamps.

I never had much interest in China until I took this class. He is a super nice guy, very friendly, and loves Oakland, China, and what he teaches. The class is so interesting, and he has opened up an interest in me to learn more about China. Make sure you read the novel because you will be tested on it. Easy class, very enjoyable and interesting!

Class was very easy, test questions can be a bit tricky at times. But he class is very interesting.

Stamps is phenomenal and an easy guy to get along. His lectures are interesting and although weekly quizes are annoying, they're easy even if you don't have a clue what's happening. He's so worth taking ANY class with just to get to know him.

Professor Stamps is one of the best professors that I have had at Oakland. He loves China, and he wants to teach you everything about it. You must go to class, but if you do, the quizzes/tests are easy, and you'll be surprised at the end of the semester at just how much you have learned.

Professor Stamps is without a doubt the best professor at OU. He makes learning fun and gets everyone involved. His love for archaeology showed during this class which made it that much more enjoyable. Hopefully he stays and continues teaching because the day he retires is the day OU loses its best.

Professor Stamps is a great teacher! he knows alot of stuff.. his classes were very interesting.. if you talk to him everyday or even just say hi he will always refer to you in class and act like your bestfriend.. his quizes are straight from his lectures.. not to be rude, but it was like a blow off class in high school! highly recommend!!

Great teacher, makes his teaching fun. Pay close attention som things he says during lecture he will use on quizes. Overall he is funny, real, and it seems likes to hear what you have to say.

Very funny but goes off topic a lot. Class isn't hard but quizzes have kind of trick questions. Doesn't have an email, but is available for office hours.

Professor Stamps is a great teacher! He's very funny and always willing to help students out. Going to class everyday and taking good notes will definitely help you to pass this class. Also study hard for the quizzes and make sure you read the assigned chapters. I would definitely take a class taught by him!

Amazing teacher, listen to his lectures and you will do well in the class. No final, we just had to do a project. Test are straight forward, and you can argue a question that you though you got right and he will change it.

Goofy old guy with a good heart. Text book use minimal; he tells you in lectures what to know. So show up, kids. Lots of experience and passion about anthropology...makes it interesting. Only complaint is that he's not as available as would be ideal and doesn't use the internet.

Stamps is a good guy who knows what he is talking about. While attendance is not mandatory, you should still go to every class because the majority of the quizzes is from class discussions. He does offer little bits of extra credit. I received a 3.8 in the class

AWESOME! I loved this class and professor! He is very knowledgable about China and makes the class both interesting and informative. I really liked the structure of the class. The weekly quizzes come exactly from his lectures, which are very clear and interesting. Even his tangents and anecdotes relate back to the class. Would recommend for Gen Ed!

Quizzes every Tu, but most part easy, but there is always one or two questions from the textbook, and those are the tricky ones. Weekly clipings on Th, final easy, but know your chinese characters. Overall easy class, but still need to study somewhat to get over 3.0.

Excellent professor, interesting lectures and cares a lot about his students. If you actually show up and take notes, you'll do great. As said, he goes off on tangents, but it actually helps you remember the material for the quizzes the following week. Loved his class, would recommend to anyone!

Oh my gosh, I thought he was the best teacher. Like others said, attendance is not mandatory, but his quizzes are based on lectures so you probably should be there every class. Just take notes and you'll get good grades. I plan on taking the other classes he offers. Take his classes! He's great!

Prof Stamps is amazing! Someone previous said if you have A.D.D. don't take him but I have it and I got a 3.7 in the class. Just go to class listen & take notes. The book wasn't necessary but for some it is. Final was question mainly from previous quizzes so stay after the quizzes and get the right answers so you do well.
