I had the pleasure of having Dr. Stevens for two classes. He is the best professor I have ever taken a class from. He is hilariously funny, and he will never ever make you feel like an idiot. He is highly knowledgeable, but teaches in a very clear manner. You'll never regret taking his class.

Excellent Teacher! I've walked out of his class not only with the knowledge in Zoology that I will always remember, but an A! His notes are clear, his test are really easy! I've taken him during the summer session and he was really nice and funny! Very down to earth, you won't regret having him!

Stevens is wonderful. He puts alot of thought into his teaching, and gives you a heavy dose of reality. Environmental Biology is not a mandatory class, but if you have to take a Bio, I suggest you do it with Stevens rather than the other Env. Bio. professor!!!!! there's field trips, papers, and ALOT of clas discussions.

Mr. Stevens is a mad cool guy. I loved him as my professor. He himself is a very intelligant guy and why he is just teaching at MCC is beyond me. But, he takes in to consideration that Bio is not everyones strong topic or interest, like it is his.

One of the best professors at MCC. Very enthusiastic about what he teaches, you can't help but get into the topic! Always throws in fun interesting facts to make lecture fun. One of the few classes I've taken that me and many of my fellow students were sad to see come to an end!

His lectures are very entertaining and he makes it very easy to learn the material. The text isn't really needed but is a nice supplement to the lectures.

No textbook. Quirky, down-to-earth. HW packets (use Google and type questions in, it's all there). Rarely canceled. A few last-minute things. A lot of material on tests. Got to use cheat sheet on final b/c someone in my class asked and we all begged. Don't turn in most labs. Lab groups based on seating. Good professor overall.

I absolutely adore Dr. Stevens, he is one of the best professors I've had, ever, hands down. The material and tests a little difficult but he is extremely helpful and kind. He is VERY funny too. I am so happy I took this course with him and would take anything with him in the future.

Professor Stevens is awesome, I took this course in the summer session. He is one of those professors who gives you credit for effort. Also knows a lot of random interesting facts, especially about Charles Darwin. His only weakness is his habit of digressing but his digressions are usually interesting/funny. Highly recommended!!

Great prof! He's hilarious and lectures are always interesting, I had his Monday 6-9 class and after the beginning of the semester we always got out early. You don't really need the textbook for his tests, use the note packets he gives and take some notes during the lectures. Make sure you study, but he also sometimes lets you have a cheat sheet.

Prof. Stevens is awesome! He is very passionate about biology and it shows. No textbook, he has you use google for your homework assignments. He gives tons of extra credit and all of the projects are easy. If you put in the effort on the projects, you get an automatic 100 on the project. Tests can be tricky, so be sure to study well.

Super easy class, hardly any homework or tests. Gives A LOT of extra credit. Really funny and engaging. You would have to not take a single test to not get an A.

Stevens is a lot of fun and makes class enjoyable. This is the first class that I had to actually study for in a long time, key words and phrases are important on the tests. It's not too easy, but put in the work and you'll do fine. The labs are INCREDIBLE. Best bio class I've taken.

Over summer. Tests are really hard, but you can take practice tests from the text book online and and other sites. He has a great personality and is passionate about science and learning. Reading the textbook really helps as its hard to cover everything you need to know in the summer course.

Fantastic professor! You'll need the textbook especially if you take this during the summer. Classes are very entertaining, really funny guy. Often lets class out early and is very relaxed in class. If you are looking for a Bio professor, I would definitely recommend, prof. Stevens, his lectures are easy to understand, and he gives packets that pretty much cover anything that will be on exams, he's very understanding and will help accommodate any student. Overall a very solid professor.

I love professor Stevens. I have taken two classes with him. And I have nothing but good things to say about him. Stevens is very hilarious, when it comes to grading he is very helpful if you want to pass he wants you to pass. He gives you study guides so your not all over the place. He really knows his stuff and he makes science interesting.

Prof Stevens is a great teacher - super down to earth and helpful. Doesn't waste time on erroneous things you don't need to know. Do your homework though (not much and pretty simple) but he likes it right at the start of class - no coming 5 mins late.

Stevens is very relatable. He wont speak down to students and will work with them so that they succeed. He tries to make the lectures as interesting as possible and loves going out in the world to do science.

I took this lab along with the lecture part of Human Biology. Professor Stevens is great he really helps you understand things from different points of view. I would say the Human Bio Lab is harder than the normal lecture class but he says as long as you show up and do the labs the best you can you will pass. There are tests too and dont be late.

I took this professor for my 1 credit required lab, it was 3 weeks but it felt like 2. Great teacher. I would take again if I could. He made me question if I would be a great teacher in the end because he is just so funny and teaches so well.

I'm not someone who is good at either Math or Science courses so I definitely needed someone who was very good at teaching. I never want those uptight professors. He gives great notes that he goes over with you on. Gives hw often but it's very minimal but the notes and hw can be used for index card for test. He's not serious and funny. 2 thumbs up!

Hes excellent. He makes class exciting and is an overall funny, laidback dude. I took this class before with a different professor and failed miserably, but Professor Stevens is so clear about what to do that you always know what to study, what to expect, etc. If youre someone whos not naturally gifted in the science department, take his class!

Professor Stevens is AMAZING. He helped me with the pre-lab homework and explains things in an easy way to understand. He is really funny and loves to bring up anti-Trump comments which I love (even though I'm Republican). Stevens really cares about his students. If you do the homework and bomb the four tests, then the homework keep your grade up.

I took BIO 132 a few semesters back and had to drop it because I had like a 50 test average. I took it with Stevens this semester and got 85-95 on all my tests. He teaches in a way so everyone can understand and allows you to use an index card for each test which was really helpful. Wish I had a professor like him for all my classes.

Prof Richard Stevens is a nice guy. He cares about students a lot. His lecture is useful, hilarious, and easy to understand. He doesnt like to make his class difficult or stressful. He lets students use one index card in the exams. Grading criteria spreads out to many ares. Most of the questions in the exams are talked in the class.

Hands down best professor at MCC. Steven's is extremely understanding and kind, his passion for biology is truly inspiring! I felt excited to come to his class every time, he encourages everyone no matter what and provides a relaxed learning experience for all. I can't speak highly enough, I'm honestly going to miss this class!

Very down to earth sense of humor about science and life, and there's a perspective you get through the (hilarious, interesting) lectures of loving the natural world. Also ended class early so we could all look for salamanders, and is extremely approachable.

Stevens has been the most inspirational, motivating professor I've come into contact with. Not only does he try and make the lectures interactive and fun, he also cares and engages in conversations. He answers any and all questions until you truly get it. (If you're religious, you might want to go in with an open mind or else you could be offended)

he explains the concepts in a way that is understandable and interesting. whenever theres a test he lets us bring our own index card as a little cheat sheet and throws in a bit of bonus questions that are common sense just to bump your score. he tries to help you in the best way he can. definitely one of my favorite professors.

His lectures were kind of like a coffeehouse conversation with a good friend! He made things memorable by sharing some of his family health issues relating to the topics that was being covered, adding a couple of chosen naughty words every now and then, and of course all the jokes. Had Stevens for both Bio 155/156- hes the best, gives lots of extra credit, youll learn a ton, very clear in why to study for review for tests and clear on homework- hilarious too!

Prof Stevens is one of the most normal, down to earth, understanding and hysterical teachers I have ever had. He doesn't teach from his high horse and really makes the material so relevant and accessible to all. Class attendance and homework are mandatory, no way around that, his quizzes are a bit harder than what is worked on in class.

My favorite professor at MCC. He taught my only night class and it didnt make me want to fall asleep. Each test you are allowed a little cheat sheet, I lived by those and sometimes they didnt even have the answers. Took the lecture and lab with him, highly recommended. Also he loves reptiles.

This professor is hilarious. I love his tangents; they are what made me fall in love with biology in the first place. His lectures cover the material at a high level but you will need to read the text (since it's assigned anyway) to do really well on the tests. They are difficult but not unfair. Would love to have him again!

Lectures are recorded and can be long at times but he has a sense of humor and likes to make Biology fun! I wish he taught more subjects. He gives you a week or two depending on the chapters to complete the lectures and assignments. Highly Recommend.

2021 was a very rough year for me and he was totally understanding when i had to miss class. His lectures were always to the point of the tests and he kept it interwsting by sharing his personal life. This was my last semester at mcc and i have to say he was one of my favorite professors.

Im not very into science or a science major, but he really helped me care about it. He is funny, makes the material easy to understand, and really takes the time to know his students. The class I had with him was very fun and memorable. Every class was a different amazing adventure that helped me understand how biology works.

This class is very easy and since it was his first time doing it it will only getting better! Sometimes he is very slow to answer emails, and he procrastinates grading. I had a lot of fun in this ecology class and I would recommend to most people, especially non-majors because it is not challenging. But you will have fun if you take this class!

If you absolutely hate biology, you won't by the end of Professor Stevens' class. This man is the teacher to end all teachers. Not only is he just pleasant to be around, but his passion for his subject is contagious. Ask him about salamanders and watch him go nuts. Took summer156 hybrid and I can not say enough good things about Prof Stevens. His online lectures are educational, easy to understand, and hilarious. I adore his 'potty mouth'! The in-person labs are fun to complete and he is always ready and eager to help when questions are asked. He truly cares for each one of his students. Pick him for BIO!

Stevens let me dissect a sheep's brain, so I'm his biggest fan now. Don't worry, he won't make you dissect a sheep's brain, he just let me because I wanted to. His homework and tests are all very easy, and he's a good teacher. His class is my favorite class this semester, which says a lot because I'm normally bad at Bio. I hope he wins the lottery.

Had him in a summer class. He's absolutely hilarious and his lectures were always full of energy. There were very few assignments, and most of them were really easy. He gave out only one test which was pretty easy. He does get political (left-leaning) at times and swears quite a bit.

Online but in-person labs once a week that are fun and no longer than 1 hour. EXTREMELY easy, honestly middle school level difficulty. Do not take this class if you actually need to know this material, but 100% take it for an easy A. He's humorous, but definitely political and vulgar at times if that is an issue for you.

Professor Stevens assigns great videos to watch. He has wonderful lectures, although sometimes they are outdated. He will drop a curse word here and there, and he sometimes brings up politics. However, overall, he is an amazing professor, and I would absolutely 100% take another class with him.
