mr. thomas took over mid-semester from mr. cobb.. he's a nice guy.. takes late work.. you mark yourself in every day for attendance.. tests are very straight forward.. take him, he's cool!

easiest class ever. he gives you the study uide with answers and they are the exact test questions. also you have about 4 hmwk assign. with about 4 problems each. very nice, lots of group discussions. very easy A

This instructor makes econ very interesting. He is always willing to help when you do not understand something. He makes sure that you understand the concept of economics and not just memorize facts. He really works with his students. He is very professional. Definitely worth taking and spending the money.

Pretty easy for an Econ class. He keeps it interesting and is really fair with grading. Not near as boring as most Econ classes

prof. thomas, i know you will be reading this, so get some new tricks. try to spice the class up a little. try to be less monotone, and maybe half the class won't vacate the building before your lecture is over. also, take attendance at the end of class to retain seats. the movie was the best class session. good intentions. super good guy if good teacher, hes an actual teacher who is an actual person, he realizes you forget, and realizes you have other classes, he tells you what he wants and if you do it, your good to go, do the homework the articles the paper and the 2 tests.thats it,a totally managable class of your taking like 18 credits and still get a good grade.

professor thomas is awesome. do the articles, do the homework (which is hard at times, but he's always open to questions and he goes over it), show up to class, as attendance is 150 pts of your grade and read and study key terms. It's pretty simple and there are two tests. the midtrem and the final which is based on midterms.

Pretty good econ class. He has a relaxing voice sometimes that make you wanna go to sleep. lol. but if you do hwk, do the paper and tests, and dont miss any class, u should be able to get an A. He's really helpful and hes a cool teacher. take his class guys!

this class rocked. i learned A LOT about saving money and earning money. out of all the econ classes i have taken, this is the best, because buying a house, insurances, and shopping i will actually do all my life. the only bad thing about this class was the time, but he started at 8:15 which is really cool. thanks for all your advice!

Definitely the most exciting teacher. but relatively easy.... kinda. The average grade for the midterm was like a -D so he gave everybody a 50 point extra credit quiz. Read the book, do the homework and it's and easy A.

tests weren't that easy, but he is a very fair guy and goes out of his way to help you out. there are only 2 tests and a final,i learned a lot in this class just by writing out the essay tests. you will have to work for your grade since he gives a very general study guide (only for final) so effort is needed--but hey-- your in college right?

Prof Thomas is a very nice guy, class is boring, but if you show up everyday and do all of the homework, there should be no problem passing.

Thomas is so awsome! He really cares about his students, just show effort and he will go out of his way to make sure you suceed. Excellent professor. He is extremely informative and if you are certainly not interested in the economy topic - do not go to this class! He is very helpful and always available to his students. I would love to take his class again. I highly recommend him to everyone who is a business major.

Prof thomas was a great teacher. Didn't buy the text book. just take good notes in class and practice writing essay questions. All the exams were essay questions, none of this guess work e.g. multiple choice. Very refreshing.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

He's a great teacher. Really mellow, actually knows what he is talking about. Read the book, and study the graphs in the chapters. Homework is really easy, and tests are essays and not that hard.

slow class but he's very clear and helpful. HARD tests. 1 take home quiz and 3 tests containing 4 questions each. all written essays. hw is online and was VERY tedious. around 70 questions but some had part a, b, etc. due every week. present 4 articles to the class and 1 five pg essay. participation and attendance points.

Richard Thomas has been one of the best teachers i have ever had. While his tests require alot of thought and effort he has office hours and will help you through anything. Also recommeneded for help in other classes such as business law or macroeconomics. And consider him if you need a tutor in Macro or Micro economics.

This class changed me from afraid to loving economics! The homeworks and articles are easy points to help you on the more challenging tests. The essay questions sound intimidating but they give you a chance to show how much you have learned. Your knowledge and interest on the paper topic determines how hard it will be so choose wisely!

Took online in a 6 week summer class. Two current articles per week, easy points. Homework on MyEconLab is pretty difficult and tedious and sometimes doesn't make sense, but thats the textbook's fault. The written paper was fun to write, got a perfect score on it. The final was pretty simple as long as you read the book and try to understand it.

I took him for Microeconomics and now I'm back taking Macroeconomics! Like I said in 06/01/07, He's such a nice teacher, always willing to help and explain. The tests are still hard though. Apart from the basics, awareness of current events help a lot in this class. That's why he had us do articles. Thank you Professor Thomas!

Good prof. He is a straight forward teacher that let's you know what you will need to do to get an A. He is completely fair on the essay exam's, and looks for understanding of material. I took his Mirco class and will be attending his Macro class this fall.

he's cool and helpful! he teaches concepts, so you can you any econ text book (mirco).

He is a great professor. I am currently taking his online summer 8 week course and he has been so helpful throughout. I started 3 weeks late because i had the wrong textbook and was having difficulty with my return but he was very understanding and helpful the whole time. He is a great professor.

Prof. Thomas is probably the most laid back teacher you will find at OCC. He does his job well in teaching the students without boring them to death. If you don't get an A in this class you should quit school because it doesn't get any easier!

VERY GOOD PROFESSOR! If you want a good grade in this class you have to do your part too (study, homework) but a lot of the homework is super easy! He tries to give his students opportunities to get as many points as possible. He is easy to communicate with as well.

His tests are hard and all written. The class is not an easy A but he gives out easy points for homework. Dropped the class mulitple times and stuck it out with him. Explains things casually so it's easier to understand. make sure you pay attention to lectures!

This class is interesting if you have an interest in Economics. It's a good class to take &I really enjoyed it! He's a really nice teacher, very approachable, &extremely easy to communicate with (responds to your emails quickly!) The class Might hard if u dont have knowledge of economics b/c he doesn't explain everything you need to know in class.

This is definitely a tough class, but worth taking. A lot of reading....the tests are hard..but if you're up for a challenge, he can provide it. I was hoping for an A in this class, but I'm sure I'll end up with a B. Still a pretty cool class and the professor is fantastic.

Class req.quite a bit of work, but is well worth it. I had absolutely no interest in ECON before and still enjoyed it. Tests were MC AND essay, homework was extensive, so you need to be able to spend the enough time. Grading is fair, a lot of weight on HW. No extra credit. Would have probably been better with less students, Great class professor

SUPER COOL PROFESSOR!

dunno what these people are complaining about but this guy must be the coolest professor ever to walk the face of the earth. his tests are easy; i didn't read jack and still got an a in the class. he makes jokes every now and then and tries to keep the class interesting. i took it in winter: 4 tests - no quizzes, 300 points on hw. piece a cake.

Passing this class is doable with little effort(freebies: HWs, articles, attendance). Online hw is time consuming if you are willing to learn. Guessing will do (unlimited tries) xD. Graded easy on his essays (as long as you understand materials). MC is book based. His lectures are clear but just no written notes. Got an A+

he's easy enough to pass with free homeworks points. tests are somewhat challenging, but if you do study, it's not that bad. he's a cool prof - tried to tell jokes once in a while, but lecture can get boring at time.

Thomas is great! I haven't had econ since high school 5yrs ago and still go an A. Free points for HW, 2 articles are very easy, tests make you think but really not that hard if you've read the book at least once. He relates to current events and makes it pretty interesting. I recommend taking the course during a short semester. Longer=more work.

He's awesome... easy B with minimal effort. I took him for winter (4 week course) and it was a piece of cake. Only complaint are his boring lectures. And he lectures in a way where its really hard to take notes. I had to study from the book.

best econ teacher at occ by far, took bise for fall and had to drop him because he was so boring. This teacher is great and his class is easy, an easy A for those who have common sense and a B for those who dont, take it or leave it econ is not a hard subject. do your work and pay attention HIGHLY recommended

This guy is pretty cool. I took him over the winter Prior the comment below me, Just cause you didn't get an A doesn't mean you don't have common sense, B is still good (I have that, it just i slack off shh!) Do your homework and read the textbook, that all you really need to do. Don't forget to do your myeconlab as well.

Prof Thomas lectures are rarely relevant to what you need to know for tests, but he gives you an extensive study guide so you should still be able to get an A. He's helpful and a nice enough guy, but his lectures are a little tough to sit through some times. I would recommend taking one of his classes.

Prof Thomas is a cool, easy going guy. the material he teaches can be pretty interesting and usefull as he teaches you how businesses make decisions. he tries to keep it simple and straightforward, and tells you what you need to know for the tests. if you need an economics class, i would definetly recommend giving him a shot over Bise anyday!

Prof. Thomas is great. You definately need to read the book for sure, and DO THE MYECONLAB!, thats the easiest 200 points ever, dont miss it! His tests are not hard if you study and do the myeconlab, if you don't then you're screwed, I got an A.

Took his Macro last winter. Concepts are made very clear, exams a little hard as they are essays but overall I learned a lot in the class and he is not a hard grader. The material is a bit dry though but he tries to make it interesting. I can recommend him

He makes 2 tests, get like 8 articles to talk about, and a paper to write and grades on that and attendance and participation. He's a good teacher pretty easy class if you do everything he asks. Very interesting class, if you want to know about how you spend your money or where to spend it.

I am a returning student and Prof Thomas turned a boring subject into something that has caused me to read financial articles in my free time. Other economics prof's just teach theory while Prof Thomas relates the chaps to real life examples.Read the book and do the checkpoints and ask questions...you will learn alot. Dont procastinate.

Make sure to bring in the monthly articles. They're easy points. I didn't learn much in the lectures but I basically just read the book and spurted out information on the tests. The tests are all short essays but he gives you good scores if you write a lot, even if it's not exactly what the answer should be. Attendance is mandatory.

Honestly a lot of people complain that his tests are difficult and there isn't enough time...but seriously he's a great Prof and probably the best econ Prof at occ the reason people think his tests are too long is because most people don't show up to class or even look at the book all he requires on his tests are that You get the basic idea

Honestly, Pro. Thomas has done his job well. I learned many things from him.It's not that his lectures are boring but in fact, ppl are not interested in discussing. Pay attention to any formula in his lecture(potential for tests,read the damn book if you dont understand the lectures,be ready to think fast and write fast.Know your nation's economy!

He is a great teacher gives you some chances for extra credit and if you take notes and read the book you will do all right but if you do the myecon lab you will pass no doubt. On the written tests try to write as much as you can because it is true on the written test you do not get enough time other than that he is great!

Took his summer class and I'm glad I did! Usually he has written tests but for the summer he gave us multiple choice with open notes, even for the final! Instead, we had a 6 page paper to write. His lectures can be a bit boring if you're not interesting in econ but he's pretty clear about what you should know. Take good notes!

This class is super easy! All the tests are open textbook and notes; they are done in the computer lab. There is a six page paper, but he lets you do it in parts to turn in. His lectures are really boring and talk about recent economic news-rarely discusses the text in detail.

HE WAS AN EXTREMELY EASY TEACHER! ALL TESTS ARE TAKE HOME EXCEPT FOR THE 4 QUESTION FINAL. HOWEVER HE IS LEAVING OCC AND TEACHING FOR GOOD EASIEST CLASS EVER TAKEN

Easy class. 6 page paper but he makes it a 3 step process so you won't hold it off until the end. 3 take home tests. 1 open note 4 question final. 1 group project paper. Attendance is also taken. Too bad it's his last semester teaching.
