He refuses help, phone calls and suggestions. Don't waste your time or your money taking this class. Social Psych is the way to go! Dr. Tropper could care less!!
Class is dull, but there's nothing tricky about it. If you show up and take notes, passing should be easy. He was always willing to answer questions after class.
VERY BORING CLASS. Goodluck trying to stay awake. Tropper puts no effort into the class and you will take nothing away from it.
I think he's a really nice teacher, and he's always willing to help and to answer any questions. The class kind of got off to a boring start, though. But he explains everything veeerrry thouroughly.
ok this guy is weird. u can't understand what he says cause he mumbles the whole class(note to tropper take a public speaking course) his tests are ok i ended up with a B but he scaled the tests. don't ask questions cause he gets mad and frusterated.
He's an alright professor. Sometimes he makes himself unclear by starting to speak about one topic and then switching it to another. There aren't any papers in his class, so your grade is based on 3 exams. However, his lectures are very long, monitone, and boring.
A lot of people think he's boring but i liked him a lot!! He makes concepts easy to understand by using a lot of examples and his test ask questions directly from the notes. Show up, take notes, and study and youll get an A.
He'ssss not bad. Your in class, your suppose to pay attention anyways. I got a B in that class and barely studied, he keeps it interesting.

cmon guys, its a lecture class with lots o students... I showed up for the first day, the three exams and THAT IS IT, still got a b plus in the class. Every single thing he tests on is in teh text, so if you can't stand his lecture, just read the book
I think he was awesome. He made sure everyone was on the same page, but he always says, "How my doin'?" which gets a little anoying. Overall, I would highly recommend his class.

This course sucks no matter how you look at it. If you have to take it do it in the summer with this Professor. It is the most painless way to get it over with. Tropper is a wiz at math and can help if need be. If you fail the fisrt exam drop it... because it just gets worse. If you do well, you will do well in the course. Weird humor though.

It's so hard to take notes from him cuz he talks way too fast! He says "uh..uh.." alot which is funny but gets annoying. He's aight. I had to sit in the front to pay close attention to him but he is so boring! And his tests aren't that bad as long as you take good notes and study. You should pick another professor if you could tho.
he is a good guy, very brilliant but i would definetly not recommend him to anyone. Talks way to fast and his test are pretty intense. Basically only 10% of his class can barely get into the A range.
Dr. Tropper is a fair and funny professor. Sorry to see so many poor reviews - he's made this class interesting and enjoyable. If you attend his lectures and take good notes, you will do well on his exams. He is always willing to answer any questions and wants his students to succeed.
if you go to class and take notes, you will do fine. he is an entertaining teacher, he answers any question, and even scales every single exam. exams are multiple choice 50 questions only 3 so make sure u study and do well on them
I had Dr. Tropper for Intro didnt really enjoy it, though if you took his notes and studied them your bound to get a B. Had him again for 320 and he makes it really easy to understand and offers alot of help. Oh yea and he lets you take a make up on the first test!
Tropper is a good psych teacher. The tests are based exactly on what he says in class. For the most part the class was good and i wouldn't mind taking it again with him. He's just a sweet old man!
Not an easy class at all. He mumbles a lot and majoroity of the time goes off subject to explain something in a story which has nothing to do with the lesson. Would not recommend. Tests are confusing even though they are multiple choice. 3 exams combined is your grade.

Dr. Tropper obviously does not enjoy teaching, let alone helping students. He is very intelligent but lacks interpersonal skills. He has no patience for students who are having a difficult time keeping up with his rapid teaching style, which can also result in mistakes in his examples on the board - so, unless you really like Walter Matthau (uncann

Nice Guy, kind of hard to understand because of the amount of people in the class. If you take notes and go to every class then the tests are pretty easy. and if you go up to him at the end of class if you have a question he is glad to answer it for you.
he's not a good teacher at all! all you have are three tests including the final, if you're a good test taker than have him as a professor. He doesnt assign papers or homeowrk, the class is 300 students so if you need one on one help, dont depend on it! I dont reccomend him
Dr. Tropper is a good professor; he is fair; he always tries to answer your questions, unless they are so obvious you shouldn't have even asked; he tells you exactly what material will be on the exams; he treats you like an adult; you just need to act like one

I had taken basically the same class in high school and got an A+. I also took this class with another teacher and got a B+ in college. Tropper is the single most useless teacher at RIC and I would never take him again for anything else. He doesn't even respond to phone calls or e-mails when you ask for help. USELESS!

Dr. Trooper is one of the most helpful teachers I've had. He really wants you to understand and is not there to put you on the spot. If you don't like math or stats, take it with Dr. Trooper and it will make more sense.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Tropper could care less about his students. This man does what's easiest for him. It's a shame because this class could be so interesting but this man couldn't care less. He mumbles, making not taking hard and he jumps with certain subjects. I hate this class and this professor. Find someone who cares what they teach.

I am ashamed that I missed so much of his (8am) class because he cares a lot about whether students leave knowing what they need to know. Very conscientious. Does NOT get upset at frivolous questions and makes everything extremely clear.

Do not take this professor if you care about your GPA! His grading of tests have no rhyme or reason, even said that he takes off whatever points "seems" to sound good. Prior to this class I have taken 31 classes, 28 of them have been A's and only 3 B's!!!!! This guy ruined 3 years worth of hard work! Take this class with Dr. Lounsbury, trust me
Dr. Tropper gave me the confidence to believe in myself, after teachers in grade school pretty much told me that I sucked at Math. I wound up with an A in his class.

Very good teacher. Take notes in class and you will be fine. Nothing from his test came from the book, everything was from lectures. The class had over 300 kids, but if you pay attention and take notes you will get a great grade.

I wouldn't recommend him. Your entire grade is 3 exams, and that's it. He doesn't follow the book, and his lectures are never that clear. I also asked if I could talk to him one on one about the exam and he basically told me to get a tutor..So. I wouldnt recommend him.
OMG if you plan on taking this think again. One class missed and you behind, 2 just drop the class. If you can take Malloy hes much easier. Also, DO NOT listen to him when he say you can return the book it is a lie he relies heavily on it!
Dr. Tropper is a fantastic professor. Dr. Tropper is a psychology professor and a lawyer. Very intellegent. I thoroughly enjoyed his intro to psychology course. He was clear, fun, and knowledgeable. 3 EXAMS all multiple choice but you HAVE to STUDY! All in all, this is a great class and highly reccommended. Dr. Tropper is awesome and very kind.....

Really easy teacher!take notes of what he says and also what he talks about and you'll get an "A". YOU do however need to go to every class, because if you miss one- you miss a lot! but he doesn't give a final, just three exams.! He's pretty boring to listen to but like I said just get through it and take notes and you'll pass with a great grade!

SO boring, only 3 tests. Mumbles a lot, doesn't give good definitions & explinations on anything. I used the book because my notes didnt make ANY sense. He usually lets you out early though

Mr. Topper is adorable and very kind. You love him if your a quick learner, but youll also love him if your slow paced as he is able to explain concepts to you a million times in different ways until you understand.
He explains things very clearly, if you still don't understand he encourages you to stay and discuss. The exams are the same as homework. Lets you have a study guide for exam, can't get any easier. He is quirky but very very fair. If you do not get a good grade, you didn't try hard enough or you didn't take advantage of his extra help.
Go to class, take notes, study, and you will get an A.
I didn't have a problem with him at all. I missed a ton of classes and still went for exams and i didn't get the best grades on the exams but he scales a huge amount so its really hard to fail this class. I thought i bombed and i got a C+ without even trying. So pretty easy and hes a nice guy
If you attend and pay attention, you should have absolutely no problem in this class. Tropper is a really nice guy and he makes everything really clear, especially for a mass lecture. It's not the easiest class, but like I said, if you go and listen and take lots of notes and study you should do just fine.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class. I will be the first to admit prof. Tropper is not for everybody, you have to strain to hear at times and he can get a little off track. BUT all tests are on the notes. You will never need a text book. If you pay attention and study, you'll do just fine
He is a good teacher. Its a large lecture but he will answer your questions in detail. Go to class & take good notes. This is a tough psych class for freshman with any teacher. Reccommend taking only a few classes with this one to give u time to study.
he goes off topic a lot, however he does answer your questions if you have any. it's a large lecture hall. he stutters a lot so its hard to stay focused. when he explains something, he uses the most scientific definition and doesnt put it into laymans terms. he also barely writes anything down on the over head so you're screwed if you don't listen
He's a really nice guy, but it is a big lecture. He goes off on tangents sometimes but you have to pay attention and take notes, because the exams are just on the notes you don't really need the textbook. It's hard to follow sometimes but pay attention and you should be okay.

Class was fairly easy. He did not give any quizzes or homework only 3 exams and have to participate in one research study. Exams are all multiple choice and attendance not mandatory but necessary. Book is not required which is great!

He does not know how to teach. He gives notes in class but he cannot lecture! He is never CLEAR! He does not follow the syllabus when it comes to test chapters. The terms the book uses versus his are completely different. Reading the book will help but he does not follow the book either. There are three tests and basically he is just tricky.
Your grade is based off the three exams you take during the semester. His lectures can be extremly confusing and he barley writes anything down, so you really have to listen well. Study for the exams or else you're screwed. He scales grades a lot though. My three exams were a D- and i ended up with a C+
At first I did not know what to expect from this class seeing there were about 200 students & it was my first real large lecture class. Attendance was not mandatory so I barely went. Your grade is based off of 3 exams. I made notecards with questions from his previous exams & only studied that so I didn't really read. I passed the class with a B.
Great professor!! I took him for Psychology 320 (Research Methods 2) and he was amazing! As long as you take good notes and pay attention then you will receive an A.

More than fair! He is so willing to help. He constantly asks if everyone understands. If someone is confused, he will explain the concept until they understand. There are 3 tests, but you can use both sides of a full sheet of paper to write anything you want. You get credit just for doing the homework. He often let us out 30 min early. No textbook
3 easy multiple choice exams. as long as you study a couple times before them you will do fine - i did that and got A's on all three. usually ends class 20-25 minutes early, but stays for any students who have any questions. attendance isn't mandatory. he doesnt write much down, so have a friend who takes good notes if you skip. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK
I love this man, he's the sweetest. He explains everything in-depth, if you're stuck he'll explain something 40 different ways until you get it. You get a cheat sheet for 3 exams, you get to retake the first one, homeworks count (SO DO THEM). He wants all of his students to succeed. Let us out 12 hour early every class. No textbook!

lectures are sooooooo boring. his hand writing is terrible, and he needs to speak up more. you only take 3 exams, no final, no midterm. it's time for him to retire. he doesn't have a passion to teach anymore.
This professor isn't bad at all. All the freshman talking his Psych 110 class who are complaining are being ridiculous. Point blank, you show up to class and apply yourself you will pass! Also, he releases 30 minutes prior and he also stays after if you need additional help..
He is a really good professor. He is super nice. His class is very easy as long as you show up everyday and take good notes. He only gives 3 exams and they are easy and straightforward as long as you study your notes. He also curved the exams which are very helpful for people that do not study. I highly recommend him.
He is kind of a dry so is the class but he tries to make little jokes and keep you engaged. 3 non-cumulative exams, you get a sheet with anything you want on it both sides (I suggest formulas and an example of each kind of problem). He lets class out 20 minutes early and stays after to help, no excuse to fail. Go to class and you'll be fine.
Dr. Tropper is a wonderful professor. He is very helpful if you ask him a question and very kind. He gives 3 exams a semester and they're all curved so even if you barely studied, you'll pass. If you have the textbook, you don't really need to go to the class because he lays out the week by week topics on the syllabus.
I would not recommend this Professor to slow writers and note takers. If you are stuck with him sit in the front and consider voice recording his lectures since he doesn't post power points. Miss something he says, good luck since everything he says is fair game for the exams. But he does let Everyone out 30 mins early so he can answer questions
He's so adorable and very interested in the topics of psychology, however his lectures are very unorganized and boring. He also mumbles his way through the lectures making it hard to understand what he is really talking about.
AVOID IF NURSING MAJOR! Lecture is not clear and mumbles most of the time.
THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. Trooper is very lecture heavy so be prepared to take clear notes because that is what you use to study for his 3 exams. He can be very difficult to understand, so sit in the front. Heads up: his makeup exams are actually easier than his regular exams, just make sure you study.
