very entertaining. be prepared to work. u have to stay on the ball & go to every class or u will get lost fast. he gives a lot of quizzes & the tests are not hard if u study the notes & read all of the chapters.

Actually cares about his students and their learning. In depth material, well-covered. Tests are a little challenging, but he outlines what he wants. Apply yourself and youll get an A. Very engaging and has a great personality. One of the best teachers at UTSA.

I enjoyed the class and the professor. I'm not a marketing major, but I need an upper division business elective to graduate so I hope he teaches in the sping so I can take another class with him.

By far the best professor at UTSA. I did not need to take this class but I came out with more than I thought I would. He is very helpful and he actually cares about his students. Remember to outline your chapters b/c it really makes a difference in your grade!

I took two classes with him. He is great. The first class, I did not get all of his thinking, but the 2nd class was a continuation of his first and has a great way of putting the whole marketing mix together. It was fun, but you need to study the tests and attend class. Need to read the text to do great on the tests.

Of all of the professors I have had over the past 4 years, he is the BEST professor I've had. He keeps you on your toes when it comes to learning, but it helps so much for the quizzes and tests. I've learnd the most and had the most fun in his class.

I long ago graduated (dec 89), but he was BY FAR the best professor I have ever had. I can honestly say that Ive used so much of what I learned from him in my professional life... He knows his stuff, and makes it fun. The best!

I took this class over two years ago and I am amazed at how much of the info I use today. By far the best graduate level instructor/teacher that the UTSA school of business has. Truely understands the real world outside the college campus and prepares students correctly for the challenges that they will face.

I've already graduated, but I still remember Dr. Utecht as my favorite and BEST professor at UTSA. I'm a little frustrated that it hurts his score on here if I don't put a "5" on easy...but he's not the easiest, just the best.

Very informative class and even though its almost 3 hours he keeps you into the lecture. He has lots of funny examples and a nice setup to the course so that it all ties together. The test can be difficult because you MUST read the chapters. You'll enjoy his class.

Simply one of the best. You have to read to do good on the test, but he is very clear, concise, and will definitely make you remember the material. Somehow knows everybody's name, even in lecture hall size classes.

Awesome professor, really engages students in the lectures. Encourages students to come to his office, even if it's just to chat. Class is challenging due to the fact that you MUST read the chapters, but he's very straightforward. You will learn in this class.

DR. Utecht is very interesting and you can tell he loves what he does. His exams are difficult and tricky...I made the highest grade in class a 92 (Not so high and this was before the curve). But his curves are great. Overall, he's fun.

Great Prof. Tests are hard. He is very engaging, and has a wealth of knowledge. Be prepared for the pop quizzes....that killed me for my final grade.

He is an amazing professor. His taxonomy system gives the student as understanding of how marketing works as a system. Very helpful outside of class as well. Rearrange your schedule to take him.

Excellent proff. Memorizes your name/face on the first day. Difficult tests but huge curve. Random quizes but ok if you know your Taxonomy. - key to making an A. Uses video, lecture, group activites, etc. Funny/nice guy - has kittens. Will go over your resmume for you. Picks favs, but loves whole class. Does volunteer work. Recommended.

Dr. Utecht is my favorite professor of my college experience. He is very funny. He is good about relating the topic at hand to the real world. He takes an interest in each and every one of your students. He is always willing to help you. You have to go to class and take notes which counts for 50% of the tests. The other 50% is from the book.

Utecht is a hilarious. I always have a good time in his class, and able to learn at the same time. Intelligent and is able to answer your question right on the spot. Remembers your name which is pretty cool. He has a helpful curve system for exams. Conducts random quizzes. There's a lot of class material to learn. So be aware.

Great and funny professor. Enjoyed going to this class because he kep t my attention. I learned a lot of information in this class. You will have pop quizzes. Learn the taxonomy and read the chapters and you will do fine. He also gives a nice curve. I also appreciated that he learned everyone's name on the first day of class.

Dr. Utecht is awesome. He is always willing to help, and he always relates material to real life situations. He also has internships that he passes on to students. His tests are about half book and half notes, but if you learn the taxonomy (and the meaning behind it) you'll do great.

This is the BEST professor in the world! He is funny, helps you out as much as he can, will help you find an internship, learn your name and pick on you:) He know a lot, and will teach you everything he knows, loved going ot his class, you will see videos, rate ads, etc. He does pop quizes, but they aren't hard.

Dr. Utecht is an awesome professor, but he expects you to do the reading and study. He is very entertaining and knowledgable, and makes it a point to learn everyone's name the first day of class. The exams are challenging but fair. But don't expect to ever get out of class early - he uses every second.

Great professor! He makes class interesting and fun with his may stories. Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives random in class assignments. His tests are fairly easy if you read the book and remember key points that he stresses in class. He has a genourous curve on his tests.

Like everyone else has said, he's a great teacher! He won't let anyone fail as long as you show you're trying. I promise you'll look forward to going to class everyday b/c he makes everyone laugh and makes a somewhat boring class(retailing) fun. You'll watch a lot of videos by the way and he'll give you reviews for the tests which he curves also!

It is a privilege to be a student in Dr. Utecht's class. He is one of the best professors I've ever had, and I recommend him highly. I learned more in this class than I initially expected, and have taken away a valuable classroom experience with a truly talented and gifted teacher.

If you want to learn what marketing is, take this class, but be warned...you'll be challenged on tests, expected to read the book, and take good notes in class. On the other side, he has a great setup to break down marketing as a discipline- something you'll be able to USE. Clear your schedule of work-heavy classes and take this one- no regrets

He obviously knows the subject matter very well and cares a lot about the success of his students. The best professor I have ever had. From day one, he is seriously inspiring and will teach you more in one class than you have learned thus far. He's the only teacher that made me feel prepared for real world endeavors. It's a fun learning evironment, but you must earn your A. If you have an opportunity to take him for any class...do it.

He's an excellent teacher and will explain to you specific things to remember that can be used in the real world. He goes over the tests and you have a chance to regain points if you have a legit argument. He won "Best Business dressed teach" which was cool. I recommend him.

Great professor, Excellent text book with superior online content. Grades with a generous curve, provides guides before exams...yet many still find his classes difficult. Take his class, attend, and read the chapters, and you'll come away with knowledge and a good grade.

I'm currently taking his leveling graduate class, and it's pretty entertaining. He's very outgoing and kind, but he's also tough. His tests for the grad students consist of SEVEN in-class essays, plus multiple choice. Egads, those tests are GRUELING. He doesn't talk about the textbook at all, but a big chunk of the essays come from there, so READ!!

Utecht is the best instructor I've had. The course content is by no means easy and should require a good amount of outside studying, but Utecht is very understanding since he "was a college kid once" and grades on a very fair curve. He is funny, offers sound life advice and helps whenever he can so long as you don't poke the bear.

This instructor helps you to become a better educator. At times he is a bit arrogant however and tends to give quiz questions based on sports events which is a bit biased. His teaching style is a bit like a coach. I think it is better for male students than female ones. He cares a great deal but I do not care for his teaching style.

ICEs are super easy, tests are pretty tough. Make sure to read class notes and the book. He curves the tests very well! He also gives extra credit for wearing Spurs gear!!!!

Fun, but really tough. When he says study 20 minutes a day he means it. ICE's (Quizzes) are very easy. Tests are 20x harder. Outline your chapters, it will make a difference! 90% Tests, 10% Quiz. Best professor EVER! Took for for Retailing and Advertising, and going to take him again while getting my MBA. He has been a great mentor and someone who is there for me 24/7. This class wasn't easy! But i loved him as a professor he really cares about us! his test are super hard there more of give an example of a term from the book with all the answers sounding the same but all multiple choice! really just study the terms from the chapters needed for the tests and do the 20 minutes a day! Amazing professor! I would take any class with him. He is serious about his tests. Read the chapters and take good notes or you won't pass. The only other grades he has is ICE's (pop quizzes). You don't have to go to class but you will miss a-lot if you do miss.

Utecht is a great professor. He wants his students to learn the information and apply it to their everyday lives and you can really see that in his lectures. Professor Utech was by far my favorite and most inspiring professor through out my college career. Took all his marketing classes. You need to listen and write down his notes and have good memorization skills. Read the chapters, study notes, and show up is all you need to do. Exams are tough but he makes learning easy. If you are in the Business School try to take him at least once. You will leave every class with a smile on your face. Such an amazing professor and you will not want to skip class. I have been out of undergrad for three years, and I still talk about how Utecht was one of the most caring professors I have ever had. He changed the way I look at college, and I am thankful that I was able to take him. Put in the work and you will pass. Go to class and engage. Talk to him and introduce yourself.

Professor Utecht is AMAZING! His class is not easy but he makes you want to learn. The test is 50/50 lecture and book so you will have to read and be prepared. Always stay up to date on your notes in case he gives out an ICE, he typically does 2-3 before each test. Overall he is funny and inspiring and I would take more classes by him if I could!

Best teacher in Business school and its not even close. Come to class every time and he will respect/like you. Go to his office hours, do good on quizzes. Big curves on exams. Get a 100 on short answer portion of each exam and class will be a lot easier. He cares more than all of the teachers combined. Need to be more teachers like Utecht.

Only my second week and i really like this professor and this class. I have learned so much already. I also find him very humorous so it breaks some of the ice and tension I already have in my other classes. Learning is fun in his class. Very relatable, knowledgeable and great teacher. Utecht is like a father-figure. From the first day of classes he makes it clear that hes accessible and motivational. This class was definitely hard because most of our grade comes from 3 exams. But always read the book in advance and review your class notes and you will do just fine. Go to his office if you need anything whatsoever!

Easy class! All you do is chapter concepts and quizzes on McGraw-Hill. Time consuming but have unlimited attempts. 1- 2 chapters a week for a total of 19 chapters covered. 3 tests that have the same questions as the chapter quizzes. Never saw his face or heard his voice but wasn't necessary. As long as you do every assignment, should get easy A!

No lectures did reminders and let us know of events he thought would be helpful, all assignments, and tests are open notes. About 2 chapters a week. Multiple attempts on chapter quizzes, easiest A you can earn. All through McGraw-Hill. Do the work, you'll be fine.

Professor Utecht made this class simple and smooth. He is very accessible via email and is empathetic of his students rather than harsh and cold like some professors. He wants his students to do well. Take him!!!

I took him online, so all we had to do was learn smarts which is totally fine but there was a lot of concepts. If you have good time management I would recommend taking his class.

Very polite and emails back quickly. Smartbook quizzes are a bit tedious but the prepared me well for the tests. I would definitely take this professor again.

Hybrid class: Amazing professor! He creates interesting/engaging lectures, and provides in-person extra credit quizzes for most lectures (adds the points to the final grades). Attendance is not mandatory, but the lecture and reading material is what will be on the exams. There are 3 online exams, online quizzes, and online SmartBook assignments.

Imagine watching a Ted Talk and stand-up comedy at the same time. This professor was the wisest person I've ever met in my life. He still helps me with life advice a year after I took his class. I consider myself lucky that I met him. :)

His material is heavy, and you have to study and read the text outside of class, but he offers ample extra credit opportunities to help boost your scores. Don't take him if you want an easy A.

The best advertising professor, no doubt! He made classes so interactive and participatory; I definitely recommend taking him if you need this credit. We had "ices," which were quizzes, You want to learn your Marketing taxonomy, but overall, it was a very easy and fun class, It was almost 2 hours long and it felt like 30 tops.

Professor Utecht's class is engaging and fun - like a TED Talk with stand-up comedy! The material can be challenging, but he's super helpful and provides great study resources. I found unstuck ai really useful for test prep alongside the textbook.

He's a very nice Professor, he cares a lot about his students. He's funny but you need to actually study hard in order to pass his class. There's 3 tests for a 75% of you grade. His tests are short answer response/ true and false/ and multiple choice. He's an easy grader. Most test questions are from the smartbook assignments.

The tests can be difficult and you do have to study but if you go to class and make an effort to learn you will be rewarded. Every professor should watch how he teaches and take lots of notes.

Genuine guy that knows exactly what he is talking about. You need to go to every class or else risk falling very behind. Exams are difficult but he gives a very generous curve. You will need to dedicate some real time to this class. Put in the effort and you will enjoy the class!

May be the best teacher I ever had. It was educational and difficult, but worth it. Learned more and prepared me for real life than any other class.

Homework is heavy some weeks, doubled w/ hw from his other classes if taking both. It's all connect / smartbook homework. He adds curves to the exams. Type of class you need to show up as lecture notes are on exam. As someone else said, be wary if you are an introvert. A lot of the class is just chit chat and having a friend helps.

By far the best teacher/professor I've ever had! He doesn't just read off a powerpoint, he let's us know what is actually important. He is always giving extra credit on quizzes and exams and is so kind. So glad to take him again next semester, the one class I genuinely enjoyed coming too.
