Very easy and you only have small quizzes and 2 exams w/ and final. NO HOMEWORK just do the work.

Will scare you on first day by telling you 70% will fail the class, however, he then tells you he grades on a curve...do well and the A is a lock

Lectures were fine but labs are hard. grades on a curve, an A for my class was around 80%. I thought he was a good teacher and would defently recommend taking him.

Dr. Vessel is helpful, very intelligent in the bio dept; but yet he can teach bio 120 as if this is the only form of bio he knows. in other words.....he is a great teacher. please take him and not lag around for the curved grade. he is awesome

Very Intelligent. Kooky as hell!!! Take his class&lab(if needbe) . Trust me, there are no other HELPFUL-moderatly easy Bio teachers at this school, I've looked!!!! Just keep up with him, stay attentive, and ask questions when unclear. You'll be fine:-)

For Bio 211: Vessel is THE BEST! He makes it fun and easy to learn and memorize information (info you will need in future Bio classes). So helpful. Just listen to his instructions and ask questions. If you do that there's no way you can not get an "A

He is a very strange man. He talks like he is still stuck in the 70's. His class is fairly easy because of the curve, but he gives two quizes a week: one for lecture and one for lab. Boooooooring and goes off on many tangents.

Grades on a curve so it helps that many other students are morons/show moronic qualities. A real good guy. Quizzes are in lab book.

His tests are out of wack, you can study for ever and it is pointless. He grades on a curve but when the class average on most tests are at a 60%, you know something is wrong with the teacher. He sucks, but his quizzes are easy except in lab.

The sweetest most likable guy. Can go off on tangents at times and rambles but he sure knows his biology. A lot of quizzes but the answers are in the lecture outline. Ask questions and pay attention and you will get a good grade. He grades on a curve:)

One of the best teachers i have ever had! Fairly easy class just keep up when taxonomy starts and you will be fine. He is a wonderful man and extremely helpful. TAKE HIM!!!

He is the best science teach I've had. He is not hard, but not real easy. He is very excited to teach (even after 26 years) he gets into his lectures, and makes it interesting. I wish he taught anatomy, because I would love to take him again.

okay sometimes vessel may go off on tangets but for the most part he is a great teacher. I think he is one of the best science teachers at grossmont college. The lecture outines are very helpful and quizzes come from there. He is always willing to help and explain things that are tough.

i took this course twice and when i took his class Bio made alot more sense to me, he is very easy, outlines are from his lecture, quizzes are there also, just study and do notecards, best teacher ive had for bio

Simply follow outlines and memorize what he lectures on, was very helpful especially when in need of help. More than happy to explain confusion topice.. Easy on quizzes,,,very important to study outlines

This guy is such a great professor. energetic and passionate about what he is teaching. gives great notes. not an easy class, but i got an A and didnt read a word from the text book; just used notes from lecture. he is a very nice guy, a good teacher, and is easy to talk to. get him for lab, also.

Vessel is an awsome bio teacher. He loves his job and is very approachable. Highly recommended! Just follow his outline, study AND GO TO LAB. He gives you all the answers to quizes, labs and tests, the grade you get depends on how hard you study.

Great teacher! He really cares about his students. He has every lecture recorded on DVD and available in the library, He even wrote a complete book of note outlines with practice quizes. He gives you all the tools possible to earn an A.

OMG this is the best teacher every. Class is easy, he provides everything possible for you to do well. Tests are easy just memorize the guide he gives you. He has an amazing personality, very easy to ask questions. Lab is easy with no write ups. He keeps you intrested in 90% of lectures (some of the material is just boring)Very organized

THE best (biology) teacher @ Grossmont!! If all teachers took as much interest in their material and their students, the success rate would be much higher! He IS amazing!! Great personality, easy to talk to, knows what he's talking about, lectures/labs are interesting, tests are challenging but he grades on a huge curve. Dr. Vessel is the bomb!!!

Vessel is the nicest person I have met at Grossmont. His sense of humor makes the material enjoyable. Test require effort and quizzes are right from the lecture book. Attend the lab. If you don't it can ruin your grade, besides it is really easy but just time consuming.

The funniest guy!! He is the best professor ever. Very helpful and sweet. Exams were very hard but the quizes were identical to practice quizes.

He's a very nice guy who's also very understanding. He explains his lectures very well and to the point. His lecture notes and study guides are very helpful. As long as you pay attention and study at least a little, you will do well in this class.

great teacher. tests are difficult but he grades on a curve - thank the lord. there is a quiz every week in lecture and lab which sucks - but they're easy if you review his sample quizes. he's helpful...funny, and always wears fish shirts.

Nice & Quirky teacher. Got an "F" from another teacher, with him a "B". Lect. quizzes 99% exactly from outline. Lab quizzes 90% from outline. He'll let you know if different. Try not to miss class, esp. lab. Tests are hard, but grades on curve. This will save you. For Tests study, quizzes, book quizzes, lect. outline, & the review.

Great teacher! Took this class 3 times. Twice with him. The class is tough. But if you have to take it take it with him. Has about 15 quizzes throughout semester. Easy A's because he gives you the questions and answers to study. memorize those and u get 100 on quiz. Tests are hard, but hes very helpful. Take him.

I got an A in this class and it was one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. Vessel is a great teacher, very helpful, and definitely knows his stuff. As long as you make an effort and show that you are trying and come to class, he will pass you with a high grade. Grades on a super big curve! Very helpful, easy as long as you listen!

Gives you the grade you earn. Expect to do a lot of studying. Quiz every week--lots of chances to boost your grade, but after the first couple of weeks they start getting tough. He's a great test-writer and you'll mark the wrong one if you're not paying attention. See him in his office hours, agree with his politics and do hard work and you'll pass

I don't care what grade I end up getting in the class, this man is such a sweetheart! He tries to be so helpful, and makes the silliest jokes! I think his fish shirts are awesome! The five dollar word for him is awesome! Makes the class much easier with his outlines and sample quizzes!

Ditto with the previos rater about his fish shirts. He's a biology nut and he doesn't try to hide or mask his love for this science. He doesn't try to force the love on you either so the atmoshpere in his classroom is apt for learning what most would describe as difficult and testy material.

Wow, a tough class for only one credit. Dr. Vessel certainly challenges you to learn and the class was pretty interesting. He always had a good lecture but was often unprepared for our experiments/ lab assignments.

If you show up to class and take good notes, and study the chapter quizzes, you should at least pull a C. The class is pretty difficult, but he is helpful, and sets up study sessions.

Dr. Vessel is so help full, and provides all the multiple choice questions ahead of time in his lab manual or in the back of the lecture outline. Just study the questions (don't get behind) and you'll do just fine. This man is so funny, and he really cares about his students. He is a fair grader, and I ended up with an "A" in both Bio 120 and 211.

Dr. Vessel knows his stuff and has been teaching for over 20 years now. He can help you with any question you have and quizzes are practically the same as those in the back of the book. While there is ALOT of material to learn, everything is you need to know is in the book. Vessel teaches a very fun class and gives you a wealth of knowledge.

great teacher because he is so in love with biology. he will explain anything that you need clarified. there is a lot of memorizing just because its a tough subject but he makes it as easy as he can with the sample quizzes and study guides and grading curve. very sweet and quirky/funny guy.

makes me laugh how excited he gets about biology..i've never had a teacher that's so in love with what they're teaching. he's humorous. quizzes and tests are pretty much straight forward, no tricks, no gimmicks. he's more than willing to help you outside of class.

I love DOC!! he's a great teacher and makes lab fun. An A is possible because of the curve. There are a lot of quizzes but he gives you samples that are almost identical... Great Bio teacher!

I thought that his class was pretty easy. ALL of the quiz questions come from the back of the lecture outline so if you just memorize those answers, you'll ace the quizzes no problem. The exams are a little harder but as long as you don't procrastinate you'll be fine. VERY passionate about biology and may go off topic but other than that a good tea

He is a very good teacher. The lecture quizes are easy, but the midterms are also easy if you study hard. Lab is the only bad part!

Dr, Vessel really cares - put in the effort, attend the labs, study from the study guides, you will do okay. He grades on a curve.

Dr. Vessel was by far the best teacher i have had. He is very helpfull and makes sure you are ready for quizzes and tests. His own lecture book he created is very helpful. He is an awesome teacher!! I got a b+ in the calss and biology has never been my subject.

EXCELLENT! Provides you with everything you need to get an A. Presents you with a list of possible test questions, outlines, and even has dvds of his lectures. Provides grade print outs so you always now your standing in the class. THE ONLY WAY NOT TO SUCCEED IS TO SIMPLY NOT STUDY!

He is by far the best teacher I have ever had!!! The lectures are interesting. The study guide was extremely useful. There's a 10 question quiz every week but if you study the study guide you'll do fine. (The answers are in the back) I wish I could take this teacher for every subject!

Outstanding professor; loves his topic and is passionate about it; do what he says and you will succeed. I bought his DVD's and it helped reinforce difficult topics or classes I missed. If you put in the hours to study, you will be fine. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

Can't imagine an easier Biology teacher. He has everything ready for you, including a workbook from which nearly all quiz questions are taken from. If Biology is not your strongest subject, be sure to take this teacher.

MY GODNESS HE IS BY FAR the best teacher ive had i went from a D (for babrely doing anything) 2 a B+ in two weeks Study for all the quizzes..study hard for the practice final (he curves that and makes it ur actual grade and u dnt have to show up for final) he lives in his own world..he excpects you kno eveything which is messed up but ask questions

The Shame is on the college and the city and or the country for keeping this kind of teachers in it !for sure I strongly believe they will pay the price one day !

Mr Vessel is an awesome professor. He makes learning Bio fun and he is really fair when it comes to grading. Ask him for help and he is totally willing. He is AWESOME! Take him. He has a great lecture/ lab outline that helps so much.

There is honestly nothing bad I can say about Vessel. Anyone who complains is usually lazy and needs someone to blame for there not putting in the time or effort. He is a great guy, and if there is ever anything you don’t understand he will take the time go over it with you in detail during his office hours. The fish shirts are awesome too

Dr. Vessel loves Biology with a passion. This class is for anyone who wants to become a BIO major or Nursing students. His grading is very curved but you really have to READ all chapters and study hard for this class to get a great grade. At times he gets so involved with biology that he will get a little off topic, but he is working on it. Take it

He is so much fun. His mind is everywhere, but he is really funny. Using the book is helpful, and as long as you study the notes and studyguides, you'll be fine!

Vessel is a great professor and is always helpful... but BIO 211 is the toughest 1 unit class you could ever take. Avoid it if you can... prepare to put in the work of a 6unit class if you can't avoid it.

He is the most adorable teacher ever!! loves bio with a passion! i loved his class. grades on a curve. make you answer all the questions on his study guide for the tests and there is a quiz every other week. Sometimes he goes off on a tangent but you get through it. he also loves his fish shirts.

I am doing well in this class so far, but the teacher is just so boring. when he goes off on tangents, it's STILL about biology! he tries to make jokes but they are inappropriate. he tried to make a joke about how you are at a disadvantage if you are deaf and there is a deaf girl in our class!!

Vessel is an amazing professor but as the semester moves on, his lectures become very boring and hard to sit through. I believe many students dropped his class because of that. Not because they were doing bad. He provides us with resources to help master his quizes and exams. I highly recommend you take his lab class too because Enns is horrible!!

A boring class. No joke. Some of his notes don't even make sense. His exams are pretty hard, so make flash cards and study your lecture quizzes. Lab quizzes are worth more than lecture quizzes FYI. He grades on a curve so that should help you out. I got a B in the class, even when I nearly failed the second midterm.

No, this is not the easiest class out there, but what do you expect from a biology class? If you keep up with the material (his quizzes every other week are helpful) there is no reason for you to not do great. Sometimes you'll find yourself having to study your head off, but that's only because we're not in highschool anymore, folks.

Dr. Vessel is a great guy. He makes the class fun. It's ridiculously easy in the beginning but once you get to the taxonomy stuff you really do need to study- all memorization. He doesn't really collect lab work, but you do get quizzed on the previous lab every week. The final is crazy. So just study those LOGDRINCH tables!

You will have to work hard in this class, its bio. If you attend class and take good notes during his lectures you will do great. Just make sure to do the study guides and UNDERSTAND them. Quizzes are super easy, straight from lecture outline. Midterms are tough but easily passable. He really loves bio and you will actually learn from this class

Prof Vessel is the greatest teacher in the world!!!! If I could take the class again just for the fun of it I would!!! He tells you EXACTLY what you need to do to get an A, and if you don't do it, YOU'RE the reason why you didn't get it. #1 prof in the world.

Vessel is a good teacher, he tends to go off on side notes and wastes time in that way but he teaches you want you need to know, labels everything on a need to know for the test/for futture reference basis. i enjoy his class, id recommend him to anyone, but becareful who you choose for LAB.

Dr. Vessel is such a funny teacher. He wrote the lab book you use so he knows what he is talking about. He is always willing to help. I wish he taught more bio classes. The class is a lot of memorization so don't fall behind. The final is intense... LOGDRINCH tables are crucial to this class.

Dr. Vessel is definitely a Great teacher. The nature of the material is strictly memorization, and there is no other way to get around it. So you have to keep up with the LOGDRINCH tables, especially for the cumulative final.He is very Nice and is willing to help you out. Feels like a 3 unit instead of a 1 unit class, but it was well worth my time

Dr Vessel is a good teacher and he is very enthusiastic about the material, but this lab requires tedious memorization. The requirements definitely surpass one unit.

This class should be a 3 unit class. Too much memorization, but you'll learn a lot. Great instructor, knowledgable of his teachings. I think he will be retiring soon though.

Hilarious guy! Terrible sense of humor that just makes you laugh. He is good at getting off topic with his beliefs. Tests are tough but answer the study guide questions and take advantage of the previous semester tests that he posts. THEY HELP! Lab is tough but just do them and have fun. Grades on curve so pretty much an 80 or above gets an A. DR V

Awesome guy, boring and tough topic. No need to buy the book unless your a Bio major and actually care. I got away with just taking the lab quizes and leaving 2 hours early. It is also very easy to cheat in this class, he is aware of it but doesnt really care as long as you are showing effort and going to lecture. Wear a fish shirt if your failing.
