His lectures are so unclear. He'll be talking about something and suddenly jump 20 years of history and talk about something completely unrelated. He is hard to follow and comprehend. No one was able to get an A in any test.
He never really explained his off the wall antics of philosophy without using golf or his daughters. He circles around questions like he doesn't understand what you ask.
He is very unclear in lectures. Tests are one big guessing game since you never really know exactly what's going to be on it or even what you're answering.
He was an awesome professor. Lectures were well organized & always interesting. You just have to take notes & pay close attention. Tests are straightforward (hands out the questions beforehand) & is always available in office hours to help.
This teacher is one of the worst teachers i have ever had. He only covers 3 parts of history which is the beginning of the US, the period right before the civil war, and vietnam. And if that isn't bad enough he will repeat the same lectures over and ove
At first his lectures aren't clear, but if you listen he puts it all together. He's organized and, like a good philosopher, discuss your point of view. But, a hard grader. I highly recommend him to people who want to learn.

This was by far the worst class I have ever had. The stack of hand-outs for the class in unreal. We never opened the book and his test questions make no sense. You never know what he is asking or what the correct response is, or where you would find it. No one gets an A - Don't take his class!
I really like mr Williams, but you have to use your head in this class!! No multiple choise questions, only essays, which is good since this is supposed to be college and not high school! Take in class notes!! Otherwise you will fail his exams.
Oh My God....that was the longest hour and a half i ever had. He talks and talks....and no one really knows how he got to that point. Expects everything to revovle around his opinions. Oh and never promote journalism in front of him, he goes crazy....journalism hater!!! The tests are Hard!!!

He is a pretty tough teacher, and i'm not the kind of student that understands everything right off the bat, but as long as I take notes like crazy, and put a lot of thought into the papers, i get decent scores. Ask questions when you get the midterm questions, it helps a lot!
This is the worst class I hve taken at GCC. He fails to make class remotely interesting. You have to take vigoruous notes. I was looking forward to being able to express my personal opinions on the essay tests, but that didn't work since he is such a biased teacher!
Can you say monotone....very boring lectures, expect that much for sure. He has these commentaries that go with the readings....those are like a book in itself. His midterms are kinda hard because you want to say exactly what he expects, or you'll fail. I took 2 classes with him.....SUICIDE....
The only times during class when I'm not struggling to stay awake because of his boring lectures is when he insults opposing political views, saying they are supportive of slavery.
BAH this class killed me. He talks and talks and when u ask a question he says he's getting there but really isnt. Everytime someone leaves the room he gets real mad and talks behind the guys back. He even lectured a week about the idea of chairs. For the love of god dont take this class. Ridiculous
I am a college professor with a Masters in Math and a Masters in Humanities. As I dabble in philosophy, I took the class for fun. It was HORRIBLE. Though it doesn't matter to me, I got a B. However, I would advise all students to AVOID him at all costs.
All you think in his class is "What hell is he Saying?" When you paraphrase his lecture to your notes, you think "What the hell did I write?" I took this class before, but strongly advise others to avoid this teacher at all cost. You get graded on his view. everything else is wrong.=/
He's a cool teacher,but a very tough grader, everything thats written about him bellow is pretty much the truth There were times when the lectures were really boring, and other times it was really interesting. Those that have superior endowment will excel in this class, Good Luck taking this class

very biased teacher. what you study in this class are his own dissertation and basically to do good in the class you have to repeat him in your essays. take kenneth locke instead.
HE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!!! I was really excited about taking philosophy. VERY DISAPPOINTED! The only time I couldn't stand a teacher so much, I had to drop the class! Don't take him. He doesn't teach philosophy, he only teaches his own viewpoints! STAY AWAY!!
Dont take this class even if your life depended on it..especially in the morning-talks the whole time and if you dont do things his way its the wrong way..the hardest thing about this class was not falling asleep. if you want to stay awake count how many times he says ummm while he lectures

there are two reasons this teacher is not getting good ratings from students. 1)He conducts his class in a junior level university style which makes it very hard, This is to prepare students when they transfer, If u can pass his class u can pass any class. 2)My guess is that he's a republican !!!

He is not objective instructor. He only teaches his right wing opinions. It is either his way or the highway. He writes his own research papers, which you have to study from and write essays. He is very demanding and it hard to earn good grades in his class. You have to memorize too much material. I do not recommend him.

DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!! The class was very confusing and you walk away not knowing any more then when you walked in. He is not clear at all, his essays he wrote are very hard to read and he defines a word with the word in it. Take someone else.

I don't even know where to begin... His class is hard. If you don't write exactly what he says in class on exams and papers there is not a chance that you will pass. well, i thought of him to be bad at first but it was just like that.It is unfair for him to be judged harshly as if he is not a good teacher at all, it should be understood that he can't please everyone and he's got his style.Actually my first two exams i got a B, less i think than i deserve, but my hard work paid off and ended with A in his class.

Hw knows his subject matter. If you take the time to speak to in private he's very helpful. It's refreshing to see a conservative teaching as opposed to another liberal.

Do yourself a favor and do not take him or you will regret it. He boars you to death and is very unclear when he lectures. He makes it seem he is an x-military but in reality has never served. All I can say is that we started out with 30 students and only 11 showed up for the final...this tell you something.

I thought he was great. His knowledge if everything is incredible. I don't understand why people who take his classes talk about his politics, because he covers very dense material in his class. If you don't like his politics, think of it as relaxation time when he goes into it. You guys spend 30 minutes provoking him instead of learning!!
Actually paying attention was more boring than staring at the wall. His lectures have no structure. He jumps from one time period to another that's a hundred years later without any transition. It's very hard to follow along. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.
if you are stupid, then you will not do well in his class. It just takes a little time to figure out what is going on in his brain, but once your there, the class is pretty fun. Yes, he differs from other teachers, that's true, but the fact is that it is very easy to get what he expects. Opinioned person, teaches what he believes in, just look at the things from different angle, that's what the philosophy is all about. If you want to get high grade pay close attention,don't jump into conclussions, be a philosopher.

i should have listen to this thing. i went along and picked him because it fit my schedule perfectly, but i just dropped the course. i swear to you, this was the most boring thing i have went through my entire life. it is absolutely impossible to get an A in this class unless its the only class you are taking and thats not the case 4 most of us....

Very monotone. Loves to her himself talk. Even if you do take excellent notes, you need to memorize EVERY detail or else you'll get a bad grade. He took SIX weeks to grade the midterm, due to his "needing" to finish his own discertation. TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER FOR PHILOSOPHY!!!! you will be bored out of your mind!!!! trust me!
It's been 3 yrs since I left GCC and because of Prof Williams, I am forever traumatized by BAD TEACHERS! I cant even sign up for a class without thinking what if the new teachers will be like Williams. The class start at 30 peopl and by the end only 5 people max. The way this guy think is bizarre..he doesnt care PERIOD.

Professor Williams is one of the smartest people I have EVER met. He has a vast knowledge of history and philosophy and is very helpful if u simply ask. If youre not interested in history, dont take his class. If you have even a slight interest in history and foreign policy take his history 118 class. You will learn A LOT. Highly recommend him.
This class is all about memorization from his neo-con diaries he transcribed and parroted from other neo-con jingoists, in the 50s. DO NOT expect such "liberal" propaganda like "facts" or even presenting rational thoughts. EXPECT: one-sided rhetoric based on conjecture in which you WON'T participate to discuss anything different of his own.
He is the worst professor !!!! Don't take his class !!!! He is teaching the history of his family. By the end of the semester you would know more about his family than about the history of the USA.
He presses his extremist right views into his lectures and what students must study. Also, claims that the Atomic Bomb was a humane way to kill the Japanese in WWII. The class is mostly about war and and that apparently war is the answer to all economic problems in the US. If you're strongly liberal, do not take his class.
Extremely difficult class! University level class...a lot of reading from text...a lot of reading from personal handouts! This should be a 4/5 unit Honors Class...in depth analyzes of history, philosophy, and political theory..90 percent dropped the class...you need a 200 percent memory, advanced writting skills, advanced english, hard grader

WIlliams is hard in the sense that the material is not typical to other history classes but he makes it explicitly clear what he wants written on the final. ABOUT HIS BIAS: YES, HE IS CONSERVATIVE BUT IRONIC ISN'T IT THERE ARE SO FEW COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE LIBERAL BIAS OF 60-80% OF OTHER TEACHERS AT GCC?
First off his tests are very hard essay tests and I happen to be very good at essay tests. Surprisingly I got a B even though I had low marks on my tests, a little confusing. He is conservative but whatever it was a new viewpoint to have. If you are lazy don't take this class. If not you will learn a lot.

A formal and courteous man towards EVERYONE, regardless of what you've heard. However, his tests are impossible essays. No Q's allowed & he tells you what he wants clearly and LOVES blow and hearing the sound of his own trumpet; he feels that if no one's saying anything nice about him, he should fill the void by creating loud fanfare about himself.

One of the worst experiences of my life. I learned absolutely nothing. This is suppose to be an Introduction To class, but I felt like this teacher was suffering from delusions that he was teaching advanced courses at Yale. Blatantly right-wing and partisan, avoid this instructor with a passion.

Do not under any circumstances take this professor. Williams is a certified neo con monster. What he "teaches" as facts are none other than propaganda from his party. This man should not even be allowed to teach.

I took him for fall semester, his class is tough. Definitely not recommended if you're looking for an easy A. Tests are tough, he grades hard and holy mother of matrimony is he dull. Worst history professor I've ever had! His lectures are completely out of order chronologically which is kind of important in history. Tests are impossibly hard and you have to memorize countless number of quotes to include in your essays...
Do your GPA a favor and do NOT take this class. Multiple choice tests are impossible, i got the highest grade on our first multiple choice test and it was a 71%. I read other people's reviews and thought that since i was a good student I could do well in this class. NOPE. you have to memorize everything to maybe get a C in the class. IMPOSSIBLE
he sucks. he always goes over time when the class finishes and doesnt care if you have another class in ten minutes or half a mile across campus. The worst teacher. He doesn't allow you to give your opinion, makes you write the same things over and over again, and is rude to students. Nothing is taught, but what he believes. Gives out one A, maybe 3 B's and fails the rest of the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!
Professor Williams is a very interesting guy. A lot of the reading material he hands out are articles from conservative think tanks. Essay exams are always on topics covered in lectures. Multiple choice tests are 30% textbook, 70% lecture. Tests are easy because his lectures drill home the points he wants to make (repetitive).
