Well if its for a requirment, whynot take it.
I enjoyed the course and found the quiz method he uses refreshing
Uses a European method of teaching, which fits with the material. Fairly hard class, but I learned a lot. Good guy, as well. Likes dogs.

Professor Wilson was one of the best teachers i have EVER had. I wish he could teach all my classes. He is a great guy and i recommend him very highly! Quizzes arent to hard. Take him!
i also had him for phil 100...he's the most sarcastic and conceited person on earth, nevertheless i highly recommend him because 1) his exams are easy, 2) he knows what he's talking about, and 3) his raw sense of humor.
Good class. Takes it VERY personally if you dont come to class, but you will do fine if you do. No tests, pretty hard quizzes. Main thing, come to class!
Very good and fun professor. Come to class and try, and u will get a good grade if u do decent on the tests. easy to talk to and goes off on a tagent almost every day, but some of his stories r funny. if ur gonna take phil 100, take him no doubt.
If you want an easy A, this is the one to take. All his quizzes were almost exact replicas of the ones he posted online. He's a real cool and chill guy; not hard to approach at all. As for the class itself though, I didn't learn a thing.
Wilson is a good proffesor. I never liked Phil but he made quite interesting. When you write your paper make sure that you say something related to what he's talking about in class. The only problem with this class is everyone wants to take his class. He's a gnarly dude. Definitely Recommended!
Great teacher, loves the subject and is hilarious. Talks about his dogs all the time and tells great stories that help to understand the subject.Tests are based on quizzes he gives you the answers to.Enjoyable class, should come but at least a "b" if you look at the quizzes.
This is an easy A. One of the most laid back teachers ever, he spends a lot of the class talking about himself, making fun of his wife and such. It's great. You do end up learning everything you need to in the class as well, so he is a good teacher. DON'T BUY THE BOOK.
He is the man, take this class, you'll like it
one of the best professors I had at this school.
AN EASY A... HE IS SOO EASY..dont buy the book.. he will give u like 4 packets.. and ur straight for the semester... HE'S THE MAN!!!
He's a cool teacher. Take his class.
wilson was an odd man, but he made me laugh. he was pretty understanding of the fact that i had the flu for 2 weeks and helped me get ready for the final.
If you can't get at least a B in this class, something is wrong. He's kind of awkward, but fun. Enjoy!

This man knows his stuff. he enjoys it when teh students do too! Read the required material, and listen to his stories about his dog, neighbor, and college years, and it will help you to understand the principle that is taught. Plus, he makes learning fun.
He is one of the few professors that I have even concidered taking a second class with. He's a great guy with a sort of dry sense of humor, but occasionally, assuming everyone's awake, the entire class busts out laughing. The only sure way to piss him off is to skip his class, if you know you're going to miss it, send him an e-mail, or tell a friend in the class to tell him you're sorry you missed it. If you do that, he'll probably give them an extra copy of whatever for you. Don't make it a habbit
He's a good teacher. Though the class is early, people rarely fall asleep. He keeps the class entertaining and he tells you exactly what's going to be on the test. The tests are very easy, in that they are almost like high school tests.
Intelligent, articulate, and fair. Shows genuine respect for students, even when he disagrees. "Easy" means that if you read the material and think a little, you'll easily be able to develop a viewpoint, engage in debate, and understand a new topic at a deeper level. That's how you make an A. Does it matter whether he's hot? No. (But he is.)
Very good professor although takes very long time to return graded assignments and reply to issues with the class. Is known to cancel class unexpectedly but a very fun teacher and worth taking.
get into a good group for the research project. very lenient as long as you do your work. no books needed. great professor
He is a very good and laid back professor. He has a very weird sense of humor. There are several quizzes (around 10-13)during the semester - not bad at all.He will drop 2-3 quizzes with the lowest grades. No final! Remember, show up for class. If you miss the class 3 times, he will lower your grade by one. Easy A or B.
AWSOME PROFESSOR!!!! :):)
GREAT TEACHER!heappreiciateswhenitalkrealfast its not about the class being easy its just that you learn so much in a different way you will def learn in his class, and if you come all the time you'll do good. You just have to take him to know what i mean.DONT LEAVE UMBC WITHOUT taking his class.......
A great professor and a great guy. Keeps class entertained and the class is more discussion oriented than just lecture. He is one of the best prof. in UMBC and he is really a top professional in his profession. Im glad he still teaches at UMBC, other schools are trying to get him.
Very good professor. His classes are definatly worth taking.
I'm grateful for the privilege of having Prof. Wilson for Philosophy of Religion. He's very enthusiastic about the class and he has a lot of insights on epistemology, God, and morality. Lectures rarely if ever boring. Catch him for additional discussion after class if you're interested, he will like that. Adjunct faculty, can be difficult to reach.
If you want a class where you get grades back from your teacher, dont take this one. This professor is bias against student athletes and he picks favorites. Yes this man is knowledgable but he is rude, concided and never returns e-mails. Be prepared to work your booty off and get no feedback.
The class sounded very interesting to me but after sitting through it for a few weeks I had learned nothing. You must teach yourself the material and even the TA was confused.
Very interesting guy. He is smart and knows his stuff for sure. I took this as a pretty random elective, thinking ethics would look good. If your in an IS program this guy would be a good person to have on your side. Not a hard class, can be interesting and Wilson is pretty comical at times. I would advise doing it as a once a week night class.
Knows whats he talking about is fair expects you to do the work and treats everyoe Well. If he wasn't married HUMMMMMMM
hes scatterbrained and talks about really random things. but it's an easy class
He's not someone you want as an enemy, but as long as you do your part, he will make certain you get all the help you need. He's really funny too.
This professor is extremely knowledgeable and very very funny. He's da man.
Lame class. Not helpful, nor approachable. Rarely uses the textbook, nice waste of $100+. Misses class often without informing students. Uses TA to teach often. Lousy.
He's really corny but amusing. Not really good at fostering class discussion, but it's not that kind of class. He writes his own reviews on here. I can pretty much say that if he's got an easiness rating of 3 and everything else is a 5 he did it. Class consists of no homework, only weekly quizzes. Drops the lowest grade. Final was optional.
awesome all around
There was no official syllabus for the class. It was an easy class - only one test. But, it was hard to figure out what he wanted.
Class was interesting. Def gained new perspectives on ethics. There was only 1 test, but lots of papers to write with group members. NEVER used the textbook, but I will def take another class with Wilson. One of the best prof's at UMBC.
Dr. Wilson is a very smart man. Class is very simple and straight-forward. 1 individual paper, 2 4-5 page papers and 1 20-25 page paper (w/presentation) in a group. Did not use book at all, although he talked about using it in the future. Sometimes gets upset with the class for no reason. Has a strange obsession with the Dean.
Often goes off on tangents and repeats the same concepts. One test which he gives you a study guide for. Don't get the book- you won't use it. You have to write lots of papers and he will help you on them if you ask. Very nice and has lots of bad jokes. Overall he's a pretty good professor.
Pretty good professor. Very interested in logic, but often goes off on repeated tangents about Pitt and their superior logic program. Teaches material straight out of the book. Skips over the rules (I guess he expects you to learn on your own ahead of time) and spends all of class doing proofs. Grade based on 3 tests. Tests are curved substantially
Class was easy. Only 1 individual homework assignment and 1 test which was easy. However, there is a long semester group project that I recommend that u get in a good group. Overall the teacher made the class fun and interesting which I learned alot.
I love this guy. He is a pretty amusing character. The class includes a big group paper, but it's still worth it. My group was a bunch of morons, and I still got an A in the class. Take this class just to experience the professor.
I've had him for religion, ethics, and logic. He is very clear on what he wants and believes strongly in attendance. Very goofy, which I think some people are uncomfortable with, but very intelligent/fair. Tests aren't misleading but they can be difficult. Come to class and he'll be very lenient/easy! If you don't, there's no real mercy.
I found this class incredibly frustrating. He's kinda boring. Has only one exam halfway through the semester. One individual paper and one group paper to write. The final is a group presentation on another paper and topic of your choice. Class was boring, i dont go when possible.
Man. This guy jumps around a lot and it's not very clear what he expects out of you until late throughout the course. Plus, the class is just a bore, I really try to avoid it. His syllabus is a joke. It says if you miss 3 classes, you will fail and he doesn't even take attendance. His syllabus offers points for HW and he never gave it.
one test, its rediculous.. then a big group project. get a good group
Really nice prof. Very entertaining and funny. Definitely one of the better lecturers at UMBC. Only major problem was getting a hold of him through email, but it was during winter semester so it's forgivable. Honestly though, I felt CMSC 304 was a completely worthless endeavor- again, maybe because I took it over the compressed winter semester.
Richard Wilson is an interesting person. Class is pretty boring. Wilson usually goes off on tangents. There are 3 papers and 1 test with a presentation. There is no reason why you shouldn't get an A in this class. not much else to say. Has a dry sense of humor.
This class was easy and fun. All the questions to the exam came from the practice exam he gave in class. He lets you redo the first two papers and this class was easy. Not too difficult. He is a nice teacher and very helpful and The TA for this class was great. He helps you alot. It's like they want you to get an A in this class.
Really no reason for this guy to be on here cuz hes the only teacher for this course lol either way IT IS an easy class and hes a down-to-earth type of guy..1 individ. paper 1 small group paper, 1 research project, and 1 test all of which are doable..especially the test
Very good at keeping the class interested, and work isn't too difficult. However, it often takes a while to get back graded work, rarely checks his email, and repeats stories/information. He's funny, sometimes in a corny way, and is more than willing to help you out after class. But yes, he can be unclear about what he wants.
He is a good professor. More than lenient. He hates laziness, but wants all of his students to excel. So do what you are told and you should get an A. Three papers and 1 test.
Easy class, one test, one individual paper, one group paper. The "textbook" is the biggest waste of money ever. Wilson "wrote" it and you have to pay to access it online. The problem is that the majority of the content comes directly from Wikipedia, and the rest is not worth the money at all. I felt very ripped off. At least the class was easy.
THATS MY DOGG!!!!!!!!!!! He goes off on tangents all class that have a vague relevance to the material, but is not necessary. You have to teach your self the stuff, but its not that hard. It's pretty funny to hear him make jokes even though he is the only one that laughs at them
Great professor overall. He is really into the Titanic. The class is intriguing and he tries to be funny. You will do well on the essays if you follow the directions. My only concern is about the T.A's who grade the essays. One T.A graded much more harshly than the other, causing some students to ask the nicer T.A to grade their essay instead.
great class ! interestin prof and TA he was awesome
Very nice teacher. Knows the material. Keeps the class interesting. Only negative was it look a while to get graded material back. This made the semester project a little tougher.
Awesome course to take. But make sure you chose discussion session with Sofiya (TA). She is the BEST TA I have ever had. Very friendly, relaxed and willing to help you out at every moment.
Wilson is a cool person, but this class is a joke. He shows up late, talks about whatever he feels like talking about, and that's it. The papers can get intense, but the process is straightforward. Don?t buy the book. It?s a waste of money. Overall, an easy A.
It's fun to listen to Wilson because he mostly talks about stuff that doesn't pertain to the class. He sometimes tells the same story several times, and he will tell it like he's never told it before. The papers are easy; all he cares about is whether you followed the rubric.
If you asked me what the class was about, I would not be able to tell you. I did not learn a single thing, but I am positive I will be getting an A. I don't care much for Philosophy so it doesn't matter to me, but he's an awkward guy, funny, easy going and kind-hearted but extremely awkward. If you get to know him, it's an easy A, no doubt!
I don't think I learned a single thing from his lectures, and I think he only wrote ten words on the board all semester. He will spend 99% of the lecture time telling random life stories. He gives the class sample exams that are exactly like the ones you take. There are three papers to write and one project. Only one has to be done individually.
1 test, 1 individual paper, 1 group paper, 1 group project. The test was the hardest part about the course. No textbook needed. Had to go to class, but only took notes before the test. After he would ramble on with jokes, but he is a funny teacher. Told us exactly what he was expecting. Gave us alot of additional material for people interested.
Easy A. Useless class. No reason to show up except to get the rubric. Follow it exactly to get an A.
Professor Wilson definitely marches to the beat of his own drum. His is very passionate about philosophy and sincere but at times difficult to understand. His lectures tend to consist of many anecdotes and sidebars, which makes paying attention difficult. Follow his instructions (and exam keys!) for the 3 exams and one response paper for an easy A.
If you are looking to take this class, then look no further!!! this guy can teach, very nice, funny. Wants people to learn, enjoys teaching. Oh and get the book. You'll need a book to practice for the test because he doesn't provide practice exams. The problems in the book were much harder than the exam. therefore you will do well. put in effort!
Enthusiastic and loves the course material. Loves enthusiastic students and hates students who don't show up or miss the point. Assigned one individual paper and two group papers. He wanted "future ethical issues," and he tore apart the groups who did past ones. Just act enthusiastic and follow the rubrics, and you should get an easy A or B.
It's a month into the class and I don't know what I think about him. "Attendence is mandatory" but he doesn't talk about anything relevant. Scatterbrained and confusing.
Don't forget your phone or laptop when you go to class... otherwise prepare to be bored. He's a great guy and very interesting, he just is very hard to understand at times because of all his tangents. Basically gives you all the exam questions but honestly if you just read you'll get A's on everything.
Very interesting material. Prof. Wilson is a little scatterbrained and sometimes difficult to follow in lecture. This is mainly an example-based class.
Prof. Wilson is awesome! He gets off topic sometimes and the class material is somewhat boring but he tries to make it as fun as he can. Plus, he posts the exam questions online so it's super easy.
Took Wilson's Business Ethics course over the winter, highly recommend it. Also had him for Phil346 logic class. Awesome philosophy teacher and is very helpful when u go to him. Don't be late to class! It is evident he brings years of experience and knowledge to lectures which is what students want
Easy class, all the quizzes are online and he uses the same questions on the test, with the exception of a "chart", which is a list of words to memorize. The lectures are horrible to sit through and terribly dull. He goes on rants about things for absolutely no reason. I could not tell you anything that he has said in lecture not written on board
Wilson is AWESOME! He enters the classroom and moves around, talks to the students, like Russell Crowe in Gladitor, he introduces ideas of great philosophers clearly with precision and an EXCELLENT use of examples from real ife. He reminds me of a white Sidney Poitier in To Sir With Love. Mostly importantly he urges us to think for ourselves.
Professor Wilson is a great teacher. He loves philosophy and is very passionate about it. Attend classes, take notes and do quizzes he uploads on the BB and you should be perfectly fine. You don't need any textbooks for this class he provides everything.
Class is boring but attendance is mandatory. He doesn't take attendance but he knows when you are absent. He posts practice quizzes online. if you memorize those they are the exact questions on the exams. Theres no reason you can't get an A if u go to class &look at quizzes. He doesn't tolerate ignorant questions from people who dont go to class.
Wilson is a great professor. He doesn't teach you the class, rather he makes you think for yourself. This class is more useful in learning how to formulate your own opinions rather than learning history of philosophy. Exams are posted online, no homework, one essay, and attendance isn't mandatory. Don't ask stupid questions. Easy A!
super super easy class, easy A. The professor rambles about nothing and i often want to fall asleep. Even if you skip class you can still get an A b/c he puts practice tests online. You will either find his sense of humor super lame or laugh with him, he's a nice guy though.
He's a nice professor & very smart & intelligent. Although I find the class boring because I'm not interested in Philosophy, he's a great teacher. He's pretty funny & approacheable too. No tests, just essays! He's an easy grader & always there to offer his opinion.
There are 3 exams, each worth a third of the grade. The first exam has terms and some problems. Only proofs and problems on the other exams. Just do all the problems in the book and understand how to prove it then you'll get an A.
He is not the best professor for Phil 120. It is really hard to get an A in the class as there are only three assignments. All of the assignments are in essay format. He is the worst professor. Goes off topic and his assignments are not clear. Really hard to pay attention in his class. I would not recommend him for Phil 120.
Super easy class. All we had was three papers only. Although I don't like philosophy, his way make it very easy.
Has an incredible knowledge of Engineering and technology with detailed knowledge of contemporary developments in technology. This was my favorite class of the year. I love him. A stimulating professor
For Bio-ethics there is no exams or quizzes. Onlv 3 papers and a group presentation. He lets vou rewrite papers for a better arade with comments on what to change. The class itself is easv but the lectures are torture and are the same boring thing every class. He liked my group but will single you out if you do something he doesn't approve of.
