He's the worst teacher I have had in my 18 years of study, which is ironic since he teaches a course on training. His "feedback" sessions involve intense berating and ridicule. I graduated summa****laude, so I'm not complaining out of spite. Don't take any of his classes. You would regret it.
He is very organized; provides downloads of his Power points prior to the lecture. No need to write down every word he says but can concentrate what he is saying. He asks questions of students in class (voluntary only)and gives great examples. I wish all of my EMU professors had his teaching style.
Good Teacher, has power points and explains a lot. Test are a different answer though. His test are full of trick questions, and are very vague. Sometimes I wonder if he actually went over the material in class lecture
Trick questions on tests. Very defensive, rude, and belittling if you question him.
Worst teacher I ever had! Avoid him at all costs!!Unfortunately there are no grades in the negative range to evaluate his performance. I'd have given him a -10!!( on a scale from 1 to 10)YES, HE'S THAT BAD!I am not a lazy student because I am in the honors departement.
Questions on exams are challenging. Very knowledgeable teacher though. You will learn a lot! Very enjoyable lecture style.
He often makes incorrect statements that students have to question him about.
He is the worst teacher I have ever taken he talks all the time, he grades very very poorly by asking trick questions and then when you seek help he ridicules you. If you think he may be wrong about something he says" well just take away my degree in industrial psych if im wrong" he is a prick DO NOT TAKE HIM HE NEEDS TO RETIRE !
Could be an interesting topic but he made it somewhat boring. Worked and studied like crazy for his exams and throughout the semester but my hard work did not pay off as most of the grade was given from a GROUP project. Encourages class participation but if you question him or his thoughts he will ignore you. Would not recommend.
Conceited, arrogant and stuck on himself, he knows the material because he works in the field. He is not a pushover for whiners. Tests objectively measure your comprehension. No gimmes here. Statistical success rates show that people like you can get an A. I got a B-minus. It was my choice. No complaints.
Absolutely the worst teacher at eastern. I hit a deer on the way to class and forgot my paper at home, made it to class on time, offered to email it the second i got home but he made me drive all the way home and get it before the end of class or I'd fail. No Respect for the working student. Don't take if life happens to you...
He is very clear on exactly what he wants and expects. The test are difficult, but he lets you know up front that this is a hard class. He is willing to answer questions and tries to make sure everyone understands the material before teaching something new. Great teacher and a pretty decent class as well.
Mr. Camp is a well studyed prof. He seems to know everything there is to know about 386 but thats the problem. He makes everything harder than it has to be. Very hard class. Take it with someone else if you can.
Avoid taking his class if you have another option. He's just full of himself, intimidate students, and makes the class a lot harder.
if you have a question, he'll answer it with another question. ask him to explain something? he'll talk about something else. don't expect to stick to one subject when he lectures, there is no organization about the way he teaches. his grading scale will also be decided on based on his OPINION of you. worst professor i've ever had.
The only reason I took this class was because of my major. I recommend everyone to avoid this prof. I'm sorry but he's cocky. He thinks he's better then everyone.
This professor is very demanding of his students. He is very knowlegable about his subject. You have to work like a dog to get a good grade and you can not possibly pass this class with out learning a lot. He is arogant but who cares, he is a good teacher.
This guy seriously needs to RETIRE! He made an interesting subject way too hard, and tries to cover way too much material. Says he grades on a "cuve," but it's not helpful at all. Participation grades are based entirely of his opinion of you. He's the only one that teaches the grad class, but if you take MGMT 386 take it with someone else!
I was concerned after reading some of the reviews, but I have to say I think Dr. Camp was a great teacher. Some say he's cocky & arrogant; I say so what if he is. He knows the material like the back of his hand, is clear about what he expects, and is clear in lecture. Tests are hard, but if you pay attention and read the text, you will succeed!
He is one of the best professors at Eastern. Ask him any question from text book or class material you will get answer right away. But you have to work hard to get grades in the exam. Just reading course material and text book is not enough. You have to study to understand the concepts in order to pass his exams.
avoid this prof, he's just too arrogant and makes the class way too hard. our class average was something in the sixties
This guy is a very hard, and his test are based on what he thinks is right not what the book says.I've never gotten anything but an A in my four years at eastern and barely pulled off a C+ in this class.Very pushy and not very friendly at all, thinks he's better than everyone else. Also, doesn't clarify things and expects you to know everything.
Professor Camp is not an easy teacher, but that doesn't make him a bad one! He wants you to earn your A, so if you're looking for a blow off course, go somewhere else. Very knowledgeable about the course content, very personable and friendly during lectures. Don't expect a good grade if you're not willing to work for it.
Loved Dr. Camp's class. It was definitely one of the hardest I have taken but was definitely worth it. Taking him for another class this fall because I enjoyed the first one so much.
He is tough, however he is a VERY good prof that knows his stuff. He gives by far the best feedback of any prof I have that will only make you grow & learn from your mistakes. Classes are not supposed to all be a cakewalk - your here to LEARN!!! A bit unfair in expectations on finishing his test in time alloted, but all in all a great Prof!
Very knowledgable. It was a good class and I learned a lot. He's a bit wordy and scattered in his instructions but he does provide useful feedback. He also graves on a curve, which I really liked.
Hard exams, but grades on curves. Good class. Moderately hard but very good instructor who does really teach and relate class to the real world.
Dr. Camp is clearly an intelligent human being. However, the only thing he is concerned with is hearing himself talk. The directions for a normal assignment are typically several pages long, and do not make any sense. His tests are virtually impossible because he does not clearly establish his expectations and the questions are unclear.
Professor does not teach out of the book but requires you to know ALL of it for exams atop of his opinion in class. Does not teach fact, but teaches his opinion. 2-day exams with hundreds of questions. This is the most difficult grader I have ever had in class. He has an ego and takes pride in cutting down students esp for grammar in group proj
Professor Camp knows his field well. He is very intelligent but I do not believe he actually enjoys teaching. In my class there was 4 tests and one paper. He claimed that the tests were on a curve and he would guarantee at least a third of the class would receive an A, but that ended up not true. The curves were only 2 percent and many people d
Professor Camp is very knowledgable in his field. However when he comes to teaching his lecture are very long and can become very boring. His test are very hard 3 exams and 1 paper thats it. HE gives next to no help for the paper. I would not recommend taking him FIND another teacher.
This is the worst class I have ever taken. The book is useful but the teachers word is right over the book. Teacher is full of knowledge but tests consist of ways he can trick students and not what you learn. I would highly reccomend a different teacher for this class. This professor is demeaning when you ask for help. avoid this
The worst mistake I made in my whole program of study by taking a class with this prof. He is not helpful and can be very hurtful and insulting when sought help. I learnt more in other classes i took and got very good grades also. But in this class the just the opposite. Avoid if you have a choice!!
Prof knows the material very well, but is not very helpful when asking for help. Tests are ridiculous, 100+ multiple choice questions, many of which are designed to trick you. Majority of the test questions come from the textbook, however, the text is rarely ever referred to in his lectures. Easy group paper..
I've never had a prof who was so unclear on his instructions for assignments! I don't doubt that this guy is well versed in staffing however, he has a tendency of going off on tangents, is quite rude when responding to students via email, and just overall lacks the ability to teach. Stay away if possible! You'll thank me later!
Dr. Camp spells out exactly what is expected of you in the syllabus. He grades on a curve, and you get some choice in what questions to answer on the tests. He always asks "did I answer your question" to make sure that the student has a better understanding. It is not an easy class, but I really learned something. Participation is encouraged.
I've never had a prof who was so unclear on his instructions for assignments, and will not help you if you ask for help!Very Rude when dealing with students, never have hated learning like this class; usually love going to class. No teaching ability. oh you want to pass: write everything in his book! Do not bring in real life examples, he fails you
This class is not easy, if you are looking for an easy A look elsewhere. If you are looking to learn something take this class. Dr. Camp is incredibly intelligent and passionate about the subject. People misinterpret that passion as mean/grumpy. When did we all become so sensitive?
Dr. Camp a very interesting professor. However, I did not like his teaching style. He was very unclear like he wanted us to read his mind. He knew his material and class was curved but I can't say I wasn't uneasy the entire time.
This is not an easy A class. Dr Camp will teach you everything you need to know and so much more. He makes you work and makes you learn. I love him as an instructor. He cares about his students succeeding. He tries to push you further than the norm. You want to take his syllabus line by line, word for word. He expects everything in it! good luck :)
Prof Camp is extremely unclear. Very vague guidelines on the paper and was marked down because he wanted "more." Tests are the worst form of testing out there - muliple choice (all of the above, none of the above, or two of the above _ and _) I'm a straight A student that got a C+! Very frustrated about this teacher!
This is one of the hardest classes that I have ever taken! I got an A, but I REALLY had to work for it. Your grade is based on 2 exams & 1 large paper. His tests are pretty brutal; they took 2 class periods. One was all essay format and the other was mult. choice and T/F. Nice guy, didn't like his teaching style. But you will learn A LOT from him!!
Very rough class-- he expects a lot out of you. I got an A, but I had to really work for it. Not my favorite teaching style-- he expects a lot of info., but yet his instructions are vague & unclear. The tests are long (took 2 class periods)& he grades harshly on tests & papers. Hard class, but you will learn A LOT!
This was a great class with a great professor. I learned a lot of practical concepts, most of which I could start using at work as I learned them. Starting my paper much earlier would have been helpful as I could write on topics as I learned about them. Reading the book is very helpful. The professor does come off as harsh but he doesn't mean to be
Confusing. Lectures conflict with text with online material. Disorganized in presenting course material and unable to clearly explain expectations for term papers. Nice guy. Pleasant personality. Does seem to care if students learn or not. I paid a lot of money for this class. (Grad class)Would not take another class from him.
Attending class is a must. He will lecture everyday. His exams are designed to test your knowledge of the topic. A complete understanding of topics will be needed to do well. 20% of the class is guaranteed a 90% or better.More than reading off the Powerpoints! He teaches each topic. If you want a challenge and want to learn take him!
Grade is based on two extremely hard exams, two short papers, and one very large, difficult project. In order to do well you MUST attend all classes, take great lecture notes, amd start studying for the exams day one! Also pick your group wisely, you want them to be as dedicated as you are to get a good grade. You will learn a TON.
Dr. Camp is very detailed and tells you exactly what he expects. Yes, his exams and projects are difficult. However, he was always willing to explain what he was looking for.
He is knowledgeable but disorganized. Doesn't communicate well. Doesn't appear motivated to help you succeed. He just goes through the motions. I got a good grade but don't feel like I learned much. Would not recommend him unless you already know the material.
His test are extremly difficult but he grades on a curve that forces at least 20% of the class to get an A. If you came to college to learn this is the class to take. I learned more in this class then any other class in undergrad or grad. He sets up the grad course just like the undergrad the project is just not a group project in the grad class.
Extremely tough grader. Class is based off 2 hard TWO day exams, essay and MC (A, B,C, one above, all above, two above _ & _). Must attend all classes, exams are based off mostly lecture but also book, which is not used during class. 2 papers and one extremely hard project. Get ready to have competency requirements jammed down your throat!
Don't take unless you have to. Doesn't give clear instructions because he wants you to develop critical thinking skills in figuring it out yourself. Makes everything about a group of 5 random people from the class that you have to work together with throughout the whole semester on group papers. Even though he gives a curve his test are hard.
He's a pompous, arrogant and egotistical. Other than that, he's just swell. Seriously, get ready to listen to his online lectures, read multiple chapters, which still leave you guessing on the QuizzesFinal. This is basically a glorified business psychology class. This is a money grab class that you will never apply to your job -- simple as that.
His syllabus is very wordy and confusing. His lectures are very long and repetitive without any clarity. The exams are almost impossible to prepare for, with a 30 point curve needed for 25% of the class to get an A. The final project is very confusing and graded very hard. Without the class being curved very few people would pass. Stay Away.
He definitely is crystal clear on his expectations. He does curve very generously, though.
First off, let me clarify by stating that I got an A. Moving on, this was a terrible class. His online lectures were full of cocky rhetoric regarding his 34 year tenure at EMU. His syllabus and grading scheme were very confusing - I just focused on getting an A. This class is a waste of your time and money. You won't learn a thing from him.
Worst class I have taken in my college career with the worst teacher. I learned nothing, his class was very boring and monotone and extremely hard to pay attention to. Very difficult test that he has to "curve" to make sure enough people pass--how pathetic! Paper at the end was almost impossible to understand the directions for. So dissappointed
Stay away from taking any online classes from him, he is very unclear as to what he actually wants. He makes learning in his class very uninteresting because of how he teaches the class and how unclear his instructions are. I felt like I was in a grad psychology class instead of a business class. I will not take anymore classes with this professor
Directions are very unclear, doesnt let you see your wrong/right answers on quizzes or tests. Very reluctant to provide you with direction as how to do better in the class, comes off very rude when grading assignments (inwhich he never gives you clear instructions as to what he really wants). Will not take anymore classes with him.
Directions are NOT clear. He expects you to be very descriptive without any true directions, grades are NOT based on criteria from any normal class, the professor gives you a grade based on what HE THINKS. Which is very unfair especially if you follow all of his criteria. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM. I will never take him again. Very hard to follow.
This teacher although I recieved an A, is extremely hard. By far the hardest course I have ever taken in my 3 years. Not only is this class extremely confusing but his explanations make it even worse. It's a bunch of words thrown together in a 25 page syllabus. It's insane.
Let me start off by saying that I got a C in Dr. Camp's class. Nevertheless, this is the best class I have ever taken. Dr. Camp's mastery of the subject matter and his incomparable ability to explain the the course materials makes this a "must take" class. EMU is fortunate that Dr. Camp decided to teach instead of being a cast member at Disney's "Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review".
Very harsh on quizzes and grading. The quizzes test for intuitiveness but not if one learned the material. Unclear on all of his papers. The requirement aren't ever solid. He curves. Attendance is not required, but would be VERY helpful. Online quizzes and audio lectures are very nice. I learned a lot in this class.
Very harsh on grading. Asks for descriptions on the paper that you have to write but does not provide clear instructions on what he wants to see. Lectures are very difficult to get through.
I wouldn't suggest that anyone take his class. I met him in person and he was such a nice guy but his class his horrible. The lectures are so long that it is tough to pay attention and he just rambles on. Also, his tests are near impossible to pass. He has to curve everything because the class can't pass the tests. Horrible class and professor.
I think Camp makes the content taught in the book way more difficult than it actually is. He comes across very arrogant and talks about his self a lot and makes things unecessarily difficult, just because you have a testing background doesnt mean you have to make the tests difficult that you have to always give a curve. I wont take a class w him ag
Took online. Lots of details but unorganized in what is being asked in projects. One big project with lots of parts. Job analysis and interview another student based on career you picked. Quizzes are short 10ish questions but 7ish mins to take the quiz. Hard grader on papers, but provides great feedback and extra credit.
Extremely difficult class. Syllabus and assignment descriptions are wordy and confusing. Quizzes and exams are impossible no matter how much you prepare. No one would pass this class without the curve on literally every assignment, quiz, and exam. I do NOT recommend this professor.
While I passed the class, it wasn't easy. His tests are hard and he doesn't give you enough time to fully think/answer the question. He gives a lot of examples but they don't help when taking his tests. I passed this class thanks to every curve he gave us. The final paper was frustrating due to group members but his directions were clear.
Camp makes a fairly easy class difficult. He is unclear on his expectations, yet makes students feel bad for asking questions. Curves almost everything he gives out because it is impossible to pass the class without it. I would not recommend. If you take this class, prepare to be stressed the entire semester.
Extremely difficult. Would not recommend this class to anyone. Camp makes a fairly easy class almost impossible. His tests will be the hardest things ever taken. The group project has very broad instructions will poor feedback. Get ready for a very long semester.
He is completely unreasonable but i did learn useful information in his class, but his grading critera is not an accurate representation of your knowledge and abilities which really counterpredicts everything he teaches in this class. he curves everything because no one can pass. avoid if possible, im an A student and got a B after busting my butt.
Looking for an instructor that allows you to skate through? Do not take this class. Looking to learn valuable skills and enhance your HR knowledge? TAKE DR. CAMP! I have heard other students gripe all semester long about his teaching/grading style (which is unorthodox, I admit) but he is an EXPERT and you will learn from him. Very glad I took him.
If youre looking for an easy A in this class, youre not getting it with this Professor. Make sure to listen closely to his PowerPoint lectures and write down everything he says. If he repeats himself several times, its on the quizzes/test. Group project was lengthy and very broad in what he expected out of it with not much written feedback.
Do NOT take this class with this professor !!! He is awful, I took this class online and I usually do well by getting As and Bs but his class is insane and he has to curve everything because he teaches everything very confusing. NOTHING is straightforward with his class, he makes you critically think on a timed test such bs.
Get ready for a STRESSFUL semester! Quizzes did not cover any material from class. Very rude and disrespectful feedback. Papers had no clear guidelines or expectations. Book was super long and unbearable to read. Goes in several confusing circles to explain himself and expectations. I am a straight A student and this class was impossible to do!
He is one of the worst professors I have ever had! He is super demeaning and condescending. He is right about everything and knows everything. The only thing that saved me in this class is he gave a curve. The lectures are horrible and he makes the class much more difficult than it needs to be. Also large group project that is super in depth.
I wish I had more room to write, but he is by far the worst teacher ever. Expects you to listen to several hours of lectures, read for several hours, and still gives horrible grades. The mid term average was 53%. Nobody would pass without the curve, has ridiculous expectations and everybody in the HR major talks about how horrible he is. Avoid him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!! His project descriptions make no sense, and are extremely overly worded. Hours of online lectures listening to his "nasaly" annoying voice of his opinions. Exams are based upon what he says in the lectures, 30 pt. curves because no one passes. Please do not take this course.
Unnecessarily difficult and over-complicated class. Posts 1-3 lectures per week, usually about 70min long each. Talks in circles, so it's difficult to understand the point. Instructions, quizzes, and exams are extremely long, confusing, and full of typos. Midterm was an 53% average, if that gives you a hint on difficulty. Very disappointing class.
I learned a lot from this class in terms of the subject. His lectures were time consuming to get through, and a lot of times reading was necessary to learn information for tests, but overall it was not bad.
If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the professor for you. Dr. Camp's goal is to prepare you for the future and to have the ability to apply what you learn.
If you are looking for an easy A with no work, this is not the professor for you. You will leave his class with the knowledge to apply all of the concepts that you learn in real life. If you send him an email he would reply to me within 2 hours every time.
If you're used to straight A's and feeling confident in your academic ability, prepare to have it thrown into the garbage. Nearly every quiz will chew you up and spit you out to the wolves. I'm sure this man is a high quality professor, but only if he is your ONLY professor. Have fun being a ball of stress for 4-5 months because I want to CRY.
Avoid this prof at all costs. YOU. CAN TAKE MGMT 485 INSTEAD!!! Ask the advisors and they can make a substitution. This class and this prof are from hell, and it's next to impossible to pass with an A.
I would avoid this professor if you can. His canvas is all over the place and is not organized. Assignments are rarely clear. Every student I know that has him is stressed. I don't know how the university is still allowing him to teach with all these terrible reviews. He's a knowledgable man but not a good teacher by any means.
