Rick is awesome! He's very smart, and understanding, but the class is really tough! He's totally flexible. DO NOT TAKE HIM IN SUMMER SCHOOL. It's near impossible to get all of the work done. I remember a girl in our class got sick, and she was behind the whole rest of the semester! Good luck!

Rick is tough enough to make you go just past what is comfortable but not past what you are capable of. He is always there to help and clarify what needs clarification. He is definitely the toughest teacher I have ever taken, but he is also the best teacher I have ever taken. I would take him again.

Mr. Adams is a great teacher. Unlike most teachers, he's fun, kind, and understanding. You should take his class during warm weather so that you can experience his outdoor teaching. If you hate group work and speaking in front of the class, then i suggest you avoid english 102.

His assignments were tough and there was a lot of work, but overall it was a good experience. He is a very helpful teacher and makes sure that everybody understands what they are doing.

He was a great professor, I had to retake his class, but that's my fault. You have to do all the reading because if you try to wing it he will fail you. He works hard to develop you as a writer. Great man, I wish I hadn't failed the first time because I felt like I let him down, he really cares about his students.

I used to believe I would never amount up to anything. Then I met this man. I was almost paralyzed by his compassionate nature towards his students. He has contributed to my growth not only as a student, but as an individual who can't wait to live! I walked away knowing that the Extraordinary within him, was but a seed waiting to bloom within me.

Excellent teacher; challenging class. It seems that it doesn't matter how good you are at taking shortcuts, this class makes you WORK. I dropped it because I was lazy, but I wished I stayed just to hear him talk. A genuinely great person.

If you don't like reading a lot or writing a good number of papers, Rick isn't your man. If you don't mind, definitely go see Rick. He's helpful, kind, he lets you call him Rick and he doesn't force his students to listen to his own opinions, whatever they are. He lets you come up with the answer and they're just as valid as his. He's a keeper

If you've ever had trouble with english or english teachers take him. I had dropped my english class a prior semester after having a bad experience and a bad teacher. When i went to drop the admin lady recommend him. I was amazed at his energy in class, and easy going teaching method, everything clicked. By far the favorite professor at the school.

I had initially taken Engl 101 during winter intersession to fulfill a GE with Prof. Adams while a student at OCC, but I loved his class so much I transferred to SCC for the spring term! Rick Adams was an exceptionally awesome teacher. You have to do quite a bit of reading. However, I didn't read anything and was still about to write essays based on class discussions. He is very energetic, fun, and outgoing. He cares a lot about his students and is also extremely helpful. You'd have to be a fool to not take his class.

Great teacher! Very passionate, so it’s really fun to be in his class. If you do the work right as he assigns it you will do fine! (finish the essays) I’ve taken him twice for 101 and 103… and each time I learned so much!

Mr. Adams is an awesome professor. He knows what he teaches, understands the mind of the student, and sympathizes with it. If you have the chance to take any of Rick's classes do it. While it is a TON of writing (about 100 pages typed total per semester)its totally worth it. He's a truly great professor.

Mr. Adams is an awesome teacher. You do a lot of reading and writing, but if show you're trying, keep up with the class assignments, and get help from him if needed, you should get an A. He has a lot of office hours, take advantage of them!

Rick Adams is the best instructor I have taken. He wasn't an easy teacher but then again this is a college level english class. He is very understanding and extremely willing to help. You can tell that he really cares about his students and wants you to do well. You will actually learn something and grow immensely from writing your papers.

Adams is just about the best english teacher I've ever taken. Yes his class takes a lot of effort to get a good grade, but the end result gives you a fun time while providing you with excellent skills to get you through college, and life really. I especially reccomend his honors class: definitely my favorite of all my first semester courses

The class I was in was a very small but an interactive honors English class. He's very clear and his class helped me structure my writing skills quite a bit. Adams is interesting, helpful, funny, and he cares about his students. Most of the class was pretty laid back until the annotated bibliographies. VERY strenuous in my opinion.

Rick Adams is my favorite teacher of all time. He is unbelievably understanding and on top of that he's interesting. I took his English 101H class from 6-10pm and my 2 hour math class felt longer than that. Participating in the class makes it much more enjoyable. I am definitely going to take him for English 103H. I highly highly recommend him.

After reading other comments left by students, I was surprised to see one or two with negative feedback. I think those people just don't appreciate any effort that a professor puts into educating his or her students. Adams was the best teacher I ever had and the most memorable. This is easily one of the best professors I have ever taken at Santiago Canyon College and made such an impact in his passion for his students to succeed. Class is easy in the sense of putting the effort in every work (He grades on effort/growth). I took him for 101H and 103H and got an A in both classes.

Yes, where in the world is Adam's statue! Attend class and do the assignments equals an A grade. Easy class if you don't slack off. Highly recommend doing extra credit (insurance policy). 3 essays in total. Research essay is long, so get started as soon as possible! If you dont take his class,You're missing out on one of the treasures of SCC

Hey was a great professor and just a nice guy. He was so helpful and made a 4.5 hour class enjoyable. He brought tea and coffee and students brought in treats to keep things interesting. He's great and really understanding. Wonderful professor.

Each semester proved it's own challenges but he makes it all so interesting. 103 was by far the hardest and most challenging! The way he analyzes lit will make you go :o JUST DON'T SLACK OFF!

Rick is really talented at teaching students how to write an effective essay, however, the books assigned for the end of the semester book project, such as the Alchemist, advocate islam and promote it's teachings. They project a positive light on a demonizing religion that calls for jihad on everyone who refuses to submit to islamic doctorine.

Adams is such a good teacher. He does give out A LOT of homework and essays to write, but he is an easy grader. His classes are always wait listed and then two weeks later half the class is empty. He gives out a good amount of extra credit but also make sure that you do all of the homework. I received an A in his class, but expect a work load.

Took this class during summer. He explains assignments clearly and is very helpfully. He is very funny and nice. keeps class interesting and fun

He is definitely one of my top 3 professors. I absolutely loved him and he's very understanding. He does give a bit of homework, but it is do-able and an easy A! He made us summarize, comment, and create questions for each chapter we discussed in class. Again, the assignments weren't hard and are definitely do-able.

Professor Adams is a great professor. Go to lectures, read material, do every assignment, and participate is all you need to do you pass the class with an A. If you put the work into the class your grade will show it. The negative side to this professor is that you will see your grade only two times in the entire semester.

Adams is by far the best Professor I have ever had. He is class is useful in the world. He is one of the FEW professors that actually care about students and understands that life happens. He makes you want to do better and be better, even as a person. His door is wide open and will help you in anyway he can, reviewing papers, emails, etc.

Rick is amazing. He really tries to connect and help all of his students. Not to mention, he is hilariously quirky and he is comfortable to be around. He always joked that I had an up to no good smirk lol. I took his summer intersession class (a lot of work in a short amount of time). I learned a lot and have gained confidence in writing essays.

He is by far one of the best professors I've ever had! He is such a nice guy and he cares a lot about his students. His assignments are tough but he is a very generous grader and there are extra credit assignments. He truly wants all of his students to succeed. Definitely take one of his classes!

English has always had my favorite teachers, and Adams ties for first on my list. His lectures are so clear and explained so well. He takes time to make sure every student understands the concepts he teaches. He is so nice and funny but only if you put effort into his class.

Mr. Adams is one of the most dedicated and focused teachers at SCC. He is active with his students and listens. He is there for you and wants you to succeed. He is a little too easy to some students who don't deserve it, but he does work hard. I would take another class with him if he was teaching a different course. I recommend him to everyone.

Great teacher. Speak up in class, make sure you put thought into the homework, and work hard on the essays. Follow directions, be clear about your thought process, and you'll get an A. Truly caring teacher and really lax about texting in class and those kind of things.

The best professor that I have ever had!!! Adams keeps the class super interesting and he DEFINITELY knows what he is talking about. You read a lot in this class and theres a lot of homework assigned but it's not rocket science. Do the work and participate and you should pass with an A!

Time consuming, but the best english class I have ever taken. I did take the honors class so it was discussion based. He knows his stuff, and I would very highly recommend taking this course.

BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. I've never been so inspired and encouraged. He really wants you to do well, and he maintains a personal relationship with his students. He is one of the best teachers I have had. He gives out a lot of work but he makes you stay motivated and it really taught me a lot. I am really glad I took his 8 week summer class. I took a lot of important skills away from this class. Participation matters and you read a lot but it is worth it. Also he has snacks and coffee ! A+++

Really understanding of students and tries to help you out. He's a really funny guy and it seems impossible not to like him but his class is somewhat a lot of work. Not much of a tough grader, just listen to directions and you'll be fine.

I LOVE ADAMS!!! He is one of the best English professors I've ever taken. I love how he challenges you to grow, use your mind! He is defiantly there for you and wants you to succeed! In my opinion, I think teachers like him are rare to come by.

The best professor I've had in any college level English class. He is funny, understanding, and one of the genuinely nicest people. Homework/reading is important but it's not overwhelming. Assignments are very clear and he offers a lot of help and guidance. He really cares about his students and their grades.

Adams is fantastic. If you really want a teacher that cares about the class AND you, this is your guy. The selections he picks sound boring, but once you read them they're actually good. Overall this guy is an amazing teacher: you barely need to take notes, just listen and participate. Adams really draws you into the material & makes you think.

Where to begin... Rick Adams in hands down the best professor Santiago has to offer. He is so clear in his directions and offers a checklist on what to look for in any assignment. He makes himself available for students when they need help or just someone to talk to. All around an awesome dude.

Professor Adams is such an amazing teacher! He truly cares about his students and tries to interact with everyone. He forces you tone creative and put a lot of thought into your essays. If you want an inspirational teacher who improves your writing skills, take this class.

If you can take Adams take him! I had him for a summer class and he was amazing. The class was a lot of work as it was only 8 weeks long but I would take it again and again. He knows how to make English fun and is always there for his students. Be prepared for a lot of reading and writing, but he helps you through it all. I got lucky having him.

No other English teacher has challenged me so much, but it was worth it. A's aren't easy, so you must really apply yourself to be punctual with all the assignments. He breaks down essay prompts for you to make them easier for you. Adams is kind, insightful, and specific. This class really pushes you to be a better writer and person.

Hands down one of the best professors you will ever have. Great person to get to know and talk to, great professor, he's always there and supportive, he's just amazing. Trust me, you won't regret taking this class. He will help you out if you need it; he's truly does care about his students on a personal and academic level.

Rick is a wonderful, caring, & an incredible professor. He makes it so that each class is something to look forward to rather than dread. Definitely recommend taking him for any of the classes he offers. The workload can be intense, but he provides a complete schedule on the first day and is understanding of each of his students priorities & needs.

Rick Adams is the smartest professor I have ever had in my 5 years of college. He is very easy to talk to and an above and beyond lecturer. He assigns a huge amount of reading and homework assignments just to warn you. 3 essays, 1 book project, 24 reading notes, and the final and midterm are take home. he is an easy grader.

JUST TAKE HIM ALREADY! I loved this class! I am not someone who feels totally comfortable with my writing abilities, but Adams was so encouraging. This is the first class I wanted to participate in. He really cares about his students, and I learned a lot. He is so nice! Definitely worth it.

One of the best professors I've had! Lectures are amazing and he really wants everybody to do well. Everything you learn you'll use the rest of your life. The class has difficult content but he explains it well and gives you so much help. Lots of writing and notes but they all have a purpose. He cares about everybody and is really encouraging!

Adams is my fav! He's unique, hilarious, & truly cares about students. His lectures are never boring. I took the summer class(4.5 hrs) & it always went by fast. Make sure to read the books! He gives great feedback on essays, but his writing is terrible.I HIGHLY recommend taking his class. He also has a coffee bar, meaning free & unlimited any time!

Adams is the most caring professor I had at SCC. The work seems like a lot at first. To be honest, I didn't read much of the readings assigned and I still did well. He really wants you to learn. He loves his students and teaching. He even has a coffee bar, so you can get up anytime you want to refuel. He has breaks every hour too!

Professor Adams is by far THE greatest professor that I have ever had. He taught me so much about life and what kind of a student I am. He pushes you to do your best, and he motivates you to want that for your self as well. Do your work and you'll be chillin'. He rocks. Just take him. You'll be happy that you did.

Professor Adams is one of the most caring and positive professors at SCC. If you get the opportunity to take a course with him I would recommend it. He provides coffee to keep you awake and he is not harsh on you being tardy. He expects you to try and he is more than willing to meet you in the middle. Be ready to take notes and work hard.

Mr. Adams is super funny, he's easy with grading, he makes class interesting, and overall the class is very easy. Textbooks weren't required, but you will have to read Life of Pi, Cry of the Wolf, and 1984. I really recommend taking Mr. Adams class.

If you do all of your homework and participate in discussions you will pass. Be sure to attend class, if you have questions he is more than willing to help explain everything to you until you get it.

I took Adams for 101 and 103 this past year. I can honestly say they have been the hardest classes I have ever taken, but it's so worth it. 101 is basically back to back essays, 103 is back to back readings. He's lenient and caring of you let him know ahead of time about your problems. I'm definitely going to miss his class.

By far the best professor i will probably ever have! He is so genuine, thoughtful, and just amazing. Wish he was able to lecture more Engl 200 level classes because i definitely would have taken him for every semester if possible! Heavy loads of work but his class is so worth it. You have to take him for at least one course if possible! :)

Adams is one of my all-time favorite professors. He's very approachable and caring and while he has homework due each week, it's usually busywork. He does require you to write some papers, but is very reasonable in his expectations and grading. I highly recommend him whether you be an English major or not.

Adams is my favorite professor by far, I've had him twice already. He is the most caring & inspiring professor, inside and outside of the classroom. Essays progressively get harder, but he will happily answer any questions. HE DOES NOT USE BLACKBOARD- so that's my only complaint! He's very go with the flow, and has hot coffee ready. I RECOMMEND :)

Adams is the best professor I've had by far; you will not go wrong by taking his classes. I've had him before & even decided to sign up for an 8 A.M. just to be in another one of his English courses. He's always there if you need some assistance with assignments/essays. A professor who cares creates students who are enthusiastic about the work too.

Adams is a gem of a professor. I absolutely loved his class. Fall 2017 was my first semester of college. He provided a wonderful environment for growth and development. His assignments are fairly straightforward and simple if done in a timely manner. I highly recommend his class!

I took Adams for English 101 and 103, and I absolutely loved him! He is such a caring and compassionate teacher. He teaches the subject really well, and is always there for his students. He changed my college experience from a negative to a positive one. He is one of those professors you need to take before you transfer or leave SCC.

Professor Adams gave me a reason to want to wake up for an 8 am. Hes the most genuine and supportive professor Ive ever encountered. It gets difficult at times, but hes very understanding and theres leniency if he sees that youre actually putting forth effort. You will regret not being able to experience having at LEAST one class with him.

I LOVE RICK ADAMS!! He seriously is the most caring, down to earth human being. He helps so much during this class and with life itself too. I literally did the all work assigned and ended up getting 100% in the class

Lifechanging. Accessible outside of class. Incredibly caring. I thought it was easy but I've heard from classmates who DID NOT try in class OR seek help that it was tough at times.

Adams is the best professor I have ever taken. I had him for ENG101H and now taking him for 103. He is beyond caring, understanding, and a great prof. His lectures can be boring sometimes, and he assigns a lot of notes and papers. BUT, he usually accepts late work and makes sure you have time to complete your assignments.

He is my favorite teacher of all time. Yes he will make you work hard but you will really enjoy his mind-blowing lectures and amazing personality.

Really enjoyed this class with Adams and the students in our English Class! Content in class is enjoyable. However, this class will raise in difficulty OUT OF NOWHERE after midterm week. The papers get so much more difficult but he is aware how tough they are and will help you so much. Going to miss this class (: God bless him! DO NOT PROCRASTINATE

Not for the faint of heart, but easily your wisest choice. Adams will prepare you, and he will provide you with the necessary literacy tools for success in all of your academic coursework. Set your bar high and commit to the class; you will earn your reward.

He is the best professor Ive had during 3 years in Scc! I recommend him to every single person I know, he prepares you so much for writing all your papers. I hated writing and after taking his class, it is the easiest thing for me! The most caring and lovely professor. If you want to get better , take him and his advices

One of the best English professors I have ever met. He teaches with passion. He helps you understand all assignments. He very committed to the students. He promises you that at the end of the course you will not fear an essay, and he keeps his word. You won't regret taking his class.

Prof Adams is the most passionate and caring professor I've ever had!! He does have lots of reading assignments and homework but it is fairly easy work that is manageable. No hard tests and a couple lengthy papers but on interesting topics. He really prepares you in writing and his lectures are amazing. He really cares about his students.

One of the best English instrctors at SCC I've ever taken, he's lectures are worth studying hard and you have no reason to miss his class every week. This guy will give you a bunch of assignments, include reading notes, presentations, and an around 25 pages research paper. No worried, just try your best to do it with your all ardours.

None of my HS teachers or college professors have truly cared about me as a person as much as Adams has . He really cares about his students. Took him for 101 and 102, I couldn't imagine taking someone else. He grades fairly and if you have any problems he is easy to talk to. I highly recommend everyone to take him, hes awesome!!

Professor Adams is the best English Professor at SCC. He is very caring and funny. The class is based on discussions and participation, so there is rarely any lectures. Before any essay assignment, he walks us through step by step on how to write the paper. He makes class very fun and easy!! Adams is my favorite professor EVER!!!

Amazing teacher. I got a low grade due to personal reasons but will be retaking the class with him. He is very kind and makes sure his students are doing the best they can. 10/10! if you can, TAKE HIS CLASS!! you will learn more than just English :)

AMAZING PROFESSOR! Definitely take Adams! He cares very deeply about each and every student to the nth degree. Be prepared to work your butt off but it is truly worth it. Group projects and presentations and MANY essays but, and I can't stress this enough, worth every minute. And Adams, on the off chance that you read any of these, thank you!

He is caring about his students, so if he notices you are really going through something difficult in life he will be there for you! We do have do read in his classes, give up on that easy A.

You'll learn not just English, but life in general. Prof Adams is so caring and really wants to see you leave his class successful and with the ability to see things from different perspectives. Tough grader and lots of homework, but if you put in the effort you'll be fine. Take 101H instead of 101 if you can, the small group discussions are great.

Professor Adams is one of the most caring Professors I've had so far. He seriously cares about each and every single one of his students. You must watch films for some of the essays. The course itself is work & lecture heavy but he is overall very understanding & patient! You do need to work for your A in this class, but I 100% recommend him!

I took 101 intersession remote live which was a blast! Then I took 103 online and it's harder because I lack time management. If you like structure and guidance on essays, take his remote live class, it's great. He accepts late work and you only have to get a certain number of points to get an A, super easy. Then revise your essays and you're set.

This professor is very caring of his students, easy-going, and understanding. His class does have a lot of assignments and I had three group projects. He always provides feedback and if you ever need help, reach out to him and he will explain thoroughly. Super patient, if you need extensions let him know ahead of time too!

Mr. Adam's created the best class atmosphere, even though it was online. The work wasn't difficult, as long as you get the mandatory things done, you will be fine. Definitely recommend.
