Intro to hospitality was really easy and the teacher was really nice. He made it clear on the first day it wouldn't be hard to get an A in the class. Everything we learn is pretty self explanatory but I would definitely take him.
I really enjoyed his class, he always brought with him his own personal stories. On day one he makes it known that it will be an easy class. The one thing is when I had him you needed to do a sign in attendance.
I honestly loved Professor Florsheim. He made the material relatable and kept the interest of his class at all times. I would definitely recommend taking him for any class he offers. The tests are right off of the study guide that we go over in class. Just show up and you'll be good to go. This class was great!
Professor Florsheim is a very nice teacher. This class consists of powerpoint lectures. There is a group project in this class. It is not hard at all though. He does talk a lot though, so be prepared for that.
Such a sweet man! I loved taking his class over the summer. The class is extremely easy and he is quick to answer emails so that's can be helpful. This class is literally the easiest class I've ever taken at UCF. Take it with Florshiem, you'll be happy you did.
Professor Florsheim was one of the nicest professors I've had so far at UCF. If you were concern about anything you could go up to him and he'll welcome you with open arms. He really cares about the Hospitality industry and he is very experienced. The only con I have is that he is really boring with his power point lectures.
Took him Summer B on main campus and loved it! Only a midterm and final for tests so make sure you fill out the study guide he gives you completely. Questions on exam are literally outlined from the study guide. Two papers that are hands on so they are a breeze. Take him! EASY A+!!!
The most boring professor. Super easy but tells too many stories, will make you fall asleep no matter what time the class is at.
Intro To Hospitality. Your grade consists of a mid-term and final exam study guide provided, 2 papers, online quizzes and attendance. This class was very interesting and very practical to life. Had a great guest speaker as well. Deff recommened this class no matter what major you are. Got an A in the class. Best of luck!!!! Not a fluff class!!!
Great professor! Attendance is taken and 10% of final grade. Class was powerpoints and videos. He tries to keep it interesting. 2 papers, mid term and final. Study guides given for mid term and final. Dont buy the book, you won't really use it. Not challenging. He is nice helpful, and has experience in the restaurant industry.
You can tell he is very passionate about the Hospitality industry and he provides you with a lot of very helpful information. However, his lectures are ENDLESS and he tends to just keep talking even if no one is paying attention. You have to do the work to earn the A but it's not challenging, just tedious.
Loves the Hospitality industry and gives many examples of his background in it. Very kind and loves feedback from students.
I had this teacher for HFT 1000 and he was great so I decided to take him for this class. WORST DECISION! This class is filled with dull lectures, ridiculous busy work, and confusing assignments. He ill prepares us for papers and exams. His lectures get extremely off topic and then we fall behind. Avoid for Marketing if you can.
I never used the textbook. His powerpoint lectures are online, but attendance is mandatory. His lectures do get pretty boring. His test aren't hard at all. He's really disorganized with dates and unhelpful with the tons of writing assignments. Don't take if you hate group work, thats all you do.
I loved him when I took HFT 1000 but he really annoyed me when taking this class. He is unorganized and what you learn in class won't help you in his quizzes/final. I wouldn't take him for this course.
Class was very easy. I received a B+ and was one point away from an A. Would recommend however he did have some flaws that could irritate you. He is very vague when it comes to instructions on how to complete assigments but then complains about you not doing it correctly and takes off points. Attendance is mandatory.
Easy class. Professor is really easy going as well. Pretty light work load, just a few assignments per week. Has a lot of stories to tell which makes lectures more interesting, would recommend to other students.
His class is definitely easy and the coursework isn't difficult- just tedious. He's not very organized and forgetful. He is nice, but tends to ramble on. Definitely do not take if you hate attending class, because attendance is mandatory and there is a ridiculous policy.
easy A, he puts all his assignments online in the beginning and i suggest doing them as soon as possible. quizzes are online and easy, same with tests. He is kind of monotone, but takes attendance. put up with it for an easy a! strongly recommend to take his class!
Took Professor Florsheim for Hospitality Human Resources Management. Grade consists of weekly chapter quizzes taken online, attendance, group project, case study assignments, journal assignments and a final exam which you take online. I don't understand all the negative reviews he's gotten, he's great. Definitely take him for any class you can!
Super nice guy! I took him for Intro to Hospitality and Hospitality Marketing and both classes were really easy. His lectures can drag on a bit which gets frustrating and he tells the same stories over and over again but overall it's not hard to get an A and he's very helpful and friendly. I'd definitely recommend any of his classes!
Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy but his lectures are SOOO long and frustrating. He rants on and goes off on things that don't matter. His online quizzes are impossible. Relates nothing to the lectures and can barely find answers in the book. He's very helpful though if you need anything and has a lot of experience.
This class was super easy. He takes attendance, and does little quizzes throughout the class so you can't leave after he takes it. You really don't have to pay attention though. The powerpoints are online. He brings in speakers from the industry, which is pretty cool. He's super funny and adorable.
He's very knowledgable, but like everyone else said his lectures drag on. He goes off on tangents that have little correlation to the lecture. He gave a big marketing project with unclear guidelines. We asked for help and then graded us against his word, saying we did it wrong when we followed what he told us to do, it makes no sense. He's alright.
Mixed mode- attendance taken through app, but feel free to zone out (or do Fantasy Football). Literally every assignment and test was copied from phrases in the text. Boring videogame-like system provided the rest of the assignments. Everything was harder than it should be, because there's no leeway on grading.
He takes attendance everyday so you must go to class, however he makes class entertaining and the guest speakers make this class enjoyable. He has weekly tests on webcourses and the midterm and final are on webcourses.
I loved this class! His lectures are fun and we had a lot of great guest speakers. Each week we would have an online quiz and we also had to complete the activities in my Hospitality lab. These were both very easy. You also need to show up to class because he does take attendance and do quick polls in class. Overall, he was a very good teacher.
Mr. Florsheim was a very funny and interesting professor with a lot of insight into the industry. Though his actual lectures may have next to nothing in common with what is on the exams, all the tests are online. Which opens possibilities. *Wink Wink All in all the class was excellent and I am planning on taking him again in spring.
Very understanding professor who will fix any potential errors you may encounter. Loves to have guest speakers and really pushes for your success in the industry. Perfect introductory class to Hospitality. In mixed mode, you have to purchase a license for Via Response and that is how he takes attendance. Read the book and quizzes will not be bad.
Pretty easy class. Long lectures. Just show up and enter code to get attendance points. Sometimes he does quick polls. Quiz every week online. You can use book for them and also midterm and final.
Took him for FIL1000 and loved him. Took him for this and hated it. Super long lectures where he doesn't teach anything thats on the quizzes or papers. Assigns long papers on topics we know nothing about. Major group project that also has no clear instructions. Not helpful, very forgetful, wastes time in class
He is a really nice guy. He likes to talk a lot about olive garden. I took this class mixed mode so everything was online. If you skip class you won't get attendence points and it will affect your grade. There is only a midterm and a final for exams. There are weekly quizzes and there is a research paper at the beginning but it is on your career
4 essays, a midterm, final, and quizzes every week. He makes you purchase an attendance app and his lectures are very boring. If you are okay with that, easy A
First things first, this Teacher is just OKAY. He's not good, but not bad. 60% of the grade in this class is comprised by timed tests on webcourses. They're online so you have more "resources" but he gives you less than a minute per question. His group project is worth a TON and he grades that really hard. I would think a while before taking him.
Professor Florsheim is great! I took this class over the summer and it was easy, you just have to show up because he uses Top Hat to take attendance and it does count towards your final grade. His lectures are amazing, especially if you want help for what career you would like in the hospitality industry. I ended up using the textbook a lot.
He is a nice guy and very easy. All the tests are online, including the mid term and final. He uses online programs for participation that you have to buy. He isn't tough, but does take attendance and has a decent amount of, boring busy work.
Pretty easy to pass. Most assignments are online and the website you use is some what confusing which caused me to miss the due dates for some assignments and he has no sympathy for technological errors
Very easy class. All homework is online. Tests and quizzes also online. No need for physical textbook. If you complete assignments, it's an easy A. However, attendance is mandatory and class is boring. Easy but boring class.
He is really an easy professor and the class is a breeze. BE CARFUL OF ONLINE HOMEWORK THOUGH. He doesn't assign due dates and because of that, I missed three online assignments and my grade dropped 10%
He's one of the only Hospitality professors that teaches on main campus, however he is an extremely tough grader and makes you write papers in APA FORMAT!!!!!
Midterm, final, 1 paper, and mylab assignments. As long as you keep up with the work, you'll pass. Attendance counts. He brings in guest speakers that are interesting.
I had him for HFT1000 and HFT2500 and earned A's in both. He lectures on info that he tests us on the day before. He's very nice but can be very forgetful. He accidentally gave my project a 65 instead of a 95 if that tells you anything. Expect a midterm, final, and a 5 page paper. Plus 2 projects for HFT2500. Attendance is mandatory.
He is a good teacher. Can be a little mono-tone when speaking. Online quizzes before class on chapter in the book. The quizzes aren't that hard. Just don't forget to take them. Midterm and Final were pretty average.
Rick is my favorite professor at Rosen/Main campus. He is extremely helpful and resourceful. I've taken three classes with him and received A's in all of them. He promptly responds to emails within hours and is willing to help the student succeed.
Grading criteria is a little confusing; keep track of assignments as they are not all clearly listed on web courses. Professor can be boring and loses his students halfway through the lecture. Will need the textbook as all the quizzes and tests (timed) come from the book. Very long midterm and final (cumulative). Attendance will count for grading.
There are several online assignments weekly, one paper, a midterm, and final. Professor Florsheim is really nice and his advice is helpful since he has experience in the field, he definitely knows what he's talking about. Just as long as you stay on top of due dates, this class should be really easy.
Attendance is important. Just sign in on his sign in sheet then leave; you'll get credit. Easiest class ever. Quizzes/Tests/Exams all online, nearly every answer is in the textbook or online. Didn't even have to study for my final, got a 98%. His homework is online and interactive so it's not too boring.
Interesting if you like hospitality.
He's passionate about his work. Attendance is mandatory. Tests and quizzes online. The TA grades unfair, hope he's grading your work. Papers and projects are a little confusing. Not great at emailing or talking after class. Overall, not a difficult class, but commit to the assignments and study for the exams because their timed crazily.
Attendance is mandatory. Group projects and papers are confusing. Don't expect to get much help. He's passionate about his field, but talks a lot. TA grades unfair and seems snippy in feedback. Not great at emailing or talking after class. Study for timed exams and quizzes. You need the book to pass, for sure.
I've taken him for a couple of my hospitality courses. His guest service course was frustrating cause he mostly talks about his personal experiences & mgmt style when he worked at Olive Garden, or when he goes to eat out, instead of teaching the actual materiel we were tested on. Made quizzes due the day before he actually taught the lesson.
Prof F was great. I learned a lot and found most of it interesting. Definitely a good class of you're interested in hospitality. Stay on top of due dates and you should be fine!
Good professor but boring lectures. Everything was online. MyLab assignments/quizzes each week, both very easy. No exams other then Midterm and final online. Attendance sheet. Textbook gives all answers for quizzes. 1 paper but very easy. I missed the first 10 assignments on MyLab because it wasn't on my canvas notifications/calendar.
Come to the lectures and listen to him ramble on about useless info that isn't going to be on any of his tests or quizzes Which are super easy and due on Fridays. He assigns two group projects and one individual essay. Seems pretty easy but he's an extremely tough grader and gives more Fs and Cs out then As and Bs. Email him? He's rude doesn't care
Took Florsheim fall 2017. Lectures were boring but attendance is required if you want to pass. Homework and quizzes are online so that made it easy. The only reason I got a B was because I missed 6-8 online homework assignments simply because I forgot they were due. By all means, his class isn't hard at all but there's a lot of assignments due.
I really enjoyed taking Florsheim for hft1000. Attendance is mandatory and the class is heavy on online assignments, but if you stay on top of things and use the book you will get an A. He cares about the class and wants to expose us to every field in hospitality. Brings in great guest speakers. Show up, be engaged. He has a lot of wisdom imo.
I actually really enjoyed this class. His lectures fly by since he's so great. Yes, there is a ton of homework, but it's all done on myLab, which in this case is really easy. I probably spent 30 minutes per week doing homework. Every hospitality major needs to take this class, and there's no better prof than Florsheim.
Not everyone likes his personal stories, but they give you really good insight into the industry. He is really approachable and super nice. His syllabus is easy to read. He is truly knowledgable about the subject he is teaching. I recommend buying the book if you are a hospitality major because it is a good overview of the industry!
3rd time taking this prof. Easy 10 question quizzes. Easy exams. But project heavy, as he is in all his classes but intro. GS mgmt has one individual project (easy) and one group or individual project (a lot) but still not bad just time consuming and a little annoying. At least you can pick your group in this class, marketing he picks for you :/
Prof F isnt bad. Hes a nice guy, but the class can be pretty boring. Make sure to keep up with the mylab assignments- all of which are easy, just annoying. Also hes super picky about lectures and isnt afraid to call you out if he catches you on your phone or sleeping. Class is really broad and general, nothing too hard
Class can be a bit boring. He seems like a nice guy during his lectures, but he is hard to talk to 1 on 1. He gets upset over small things. The class itself is a great intro class, however. I would suggest him as a backup option if you could find better.
I took this as a mixed mode class. He was an okay professor. I was in a class of almost 300 people and he still took attendance every day. He made everything as easy as possible. He tells lots of great stories and brings in a lot of guest speakers. You have to buy MyLab access so thats not cheap. I would take him for another class.
If there was one word to summarize this class: projects. Dear god there were so many projects. An individual paper, a partner project, and a ridiculous group project that was so unnecessarily long that in the instructions he literally wrote "But wait there's EVEN MORE!" Easy prof, most Rosen kids have him but this was just really annoying.
He's a pretty caring professor, and you can really tell how much he enjoys the hospitality industry. He tells you about all of his experiences in the hospitality field, and it's a nice sneak peek into the business. The course is pretty easy, just keep up with your quizzes and modules and you should be fine.
Easy class. Attendance is graded. Homework is a module and a quiz once a week, but all can be found on Quizlet. One essay, one midterm, and one final exam. You can take all of them at home. Can't get an A if you don't show up for any classes. He's super nice and knowledgeable. Doesn't like people talking while he does. Overall, easy and fun class.
One of my favorite professors! In 101 all you need to do is read the chapter take the quizzes each week, 2 exams, and 1 paper(all online). I highly recommend attending the class tho, just because he is a great prof and he brings in really incredible speakers. I have taken him for 2 classes now, and as long as you put in the work, he will help you
He is very opinionated and vocal and will do whatever he can to mess students grades up. Other than being hell bent on attendance he spends most of his time telling stories and going through his presentation. He will take you to school court for academic dishonesty apparently (he says in class) He also grades hard and a bit unfair.
Nice guy and a super easy class. A bunch of easy quizzes, a paper that he grades super fairly, and a midterm and final. I took as an elective so I missed like 6 classes and still passed. Lose points for missing class so I would go. Lectures are short and he mostly tells stories. Lots of guests that are super interesting.
Really nice guy, but is the epitome of "my class is the most important class you've ever taken." Lots of work, acts like it's super difficult and important, when most of it is just time-consuming, with no shred of difficulty. Easy A but just annoying to get through.
Had him for Intro. & Guest Services, signing up for him for him again for marketing. He's def. passionate about Hospitality but sometimes that just makes him get sidetracked and talk about random stuff that happened when he worked in the industry. Quizzes once a week but super easy. One individual paper (I got a 100) and one group paper.
Probably the worst professor I have had, does not explain things properly and assigns way too much work, individual paper, partner project, group project, and quizzes weekly that are only open for one day. Because of classes being moved online you would think due dates would be moved or canceled but no he is not considerate at all to what is happen
Really easy course. All homework & quizzes, plus the midterm and final are all online. No tests, just the chapter quizzes for homework. Attendance is mandatory and he can be kind of rude about it, so go to class for your credit and just do other work. He WILL figure out who you are and take your attendance points away if you leave early though.
During the pandemic, he was not accommodating at all. Still had to write a 10-page essay and wasn't sympathetic for people that were struggling. He is a very passionate teacher and the class is otherwise easy but that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Very interesting course the professor has a lot of experience in the field so he'll tell you lots of stories. Assignments were simple, read the chapter do the homework or quiz.
Took Prof. Florsheim this semester. We had a zoom every week where he talked through the material. He was very adamant about everyone having their cameras on. We had one paper which was written in APA format, which was super annoying. But tbh all the quizzes and tests are so easy. He has alot of experience in the industry too.
He's really unreasonable and I would not take him again. He insists that you turn on your webcam the entire zoom meeting, won't hear your excuse on why you don't have one & wastes class time calling people out with no webcam. Quizzes only open for a day. Also 85 minutes for a 100 question exam is ridiculous. Avoid him.
The worst professor. Like to give students a 0. Lots of homework, lots of papers. Force the students to turn on the camera, never care about the explanation of the students, if not complete the cooperation of team members, directly give 0 points. I don't know what to say in class. I don't want to major in hotel management at all.
Lectures are a bore and attendance is required, so dont even think about skipping as he will find who you are and deduct points if you dont show. Overall the class was easy. Multiple homework assignments and quizzes which were online, a midterm and a final which were really easy, and one simple paper. As long as you do the work, youll get an A!
Professor Florsheim is awesome and is one of the sweetest professors ever, I'd recommend him to anyone. Attendance was mandatory, we had weekly readings and quizzes but they were all pretty easy! I can tell that he has a lot of experience in the hospitality field. I'd definitely take a class with him again!
super super sweet guy. he definitely cares about his students and as long as you do your work, which isn't hard to begin with, and go to class you can definitely pass. he has a lot of experience in the hospitality industry and is definitely one of the better professors I've had!
Prof F was amazing! You only get graded based on the bookwork, class participation, and exams. You only write one paper the whole semester, and he grades it really easily. Definitely recommend.
There are weekly assignments due but all of his assignments can be found on quizlet even the exams. There was 1 group project and an individual paper but it wasn't anything too hard. Attendance is graded! After 3 missed classes, points are deducted. I took his classes before and they're always a piece of cake! He tells a lot of stories as well.
Rude professor. Lecture and professor were extremely boring. Attendance is mandatory and dropped my grade 6% because I missed one class. Weekly quizzes were easy in my opinion, as I did them before the lecture. He mostly told stories of him working at Olive Garden, which was irrelevant. Paper was graded tough, left rude, condescending comments.
He was very easy and presented the material in a way that did not seem confusing. I would recommend him simply because he was very nice and you would have to do nothing to fail.
Good class. 1 paper, mid-term and final, plus 2 online assignments for each chapter. All of the work and tests are easy. The class is all lecture and while he has a lot of experience in the hospitality industry, it is sometimes boring and hard to pay attention for over an hour. Still an easy A.
You pretty much have to teach yourself everything. the homework that is due before class is about the topic he talks about in his lectures so everything he says was repeated in the homework. Theres 1 written assignment for the semester and weekly homework and quizzes that are pretty easy. It is basically an online course with mandatory attendance
easy class, nice professor. the lectures are very boring (powerpoints and will just pull up and go over random websites. graded attendance. easy a just struggle to not fall asleep
Not that this rating matters because I'm pretty sure its his last semester teaching, but it's honestly better that way. Not that it was a hard class but if you're looking to genuinely learn anything this is not the class for you. He's also really mean! But hey at least the textbook isn't needed throughout the whole semester right? So there's a plus
Lecture/Attendance required and is a fairly large part of grade. However, theyre useless. He just reads off the PowerPoint, clicks links, and talks about working at Olive Garden. Homework was due the day before class, so the lecture didnt help. Easy homework and quizzes. 2 exams, but theyre very long (100 questions) considering the time given.
